Farg |
Farg turns to the now freed slave serving wine.
What do you think of this affair? Did you overhear anything your lady had mentioned regarding her travel plans?
Chaosorbit |
Korshad replies, Well I certainly didn't expect this to happen. The Mistress usually sticks to herself in her quarters. She would look in on our training from time to time, but we usually just dealt with the gnolls. They always treated us pretty well, I think they were afraid to mistreat us. But lately Chau has been growing bolder.
Jairo expands, Yes, Chau and the one they don't like are in the Mistress boudoir right now, doing who knows what.
Farg |
Oh really? You could have told us ealier... they aren't by any chance playing with the mistresses magic mirror?
Chaosorbit |
Jairo looks a bit surprised.
Oh, you didn't ask. Magic mirror? I wasn't aware the Mistress had one! What does it do?
A look of curiosity on his face.
Is that why you have come here?
Farg |
It's a scrying device. Now esteemed Jairo would you care to show us to her chamber!
Farg replies as he studies the Djinn hoping that he sparked the curios creatures curiosity.
Teradach |
Teradach isn't the brightest of creatures, but thinks speaking of the mirror to be a bad idea, hoping that Farg knows what he is doing. Still listening intently, although giving the food his visual attention.
Chaosorbit |
Jairo glances behind him, Well the Mistress's chamber is right through those doors and down the hall.
Then glancing back, Unfortunately, the Mistress has bound me to protect her quarters I can not allow anyone other than the gnolls beyond these doors.
He pauses dramatically.
Unless, they can tell me the password within 2 tries. Those that know it can pass freely.
Now if you were her, what would you use as a password? My master has few friends these days, but I suspect that was not always the case. It could be her password sounds like a mortal’s name, someone she was fond of in the past, I would guess.
Teradach |
Stops chewing and looks up at the genie with delight. While not too good at thinking out problems he did entertain himself with riddles quite frequently. Teradach speaks not minding the food that falls from his mouth while he questions, 'You have been commanded to protect her quartersss, but have you been ordered not to give the passssword?' pauses momentarily to let the djinn respond then continues, 'A mighty being asss yourssself mussst at have want for very little... but I am sssure there is sssome frussstratssion that we could asssssissst you with.'
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Chaosorbit |
Jairo looks amused by Teradach's offer.
My only wish is my freedom. However, you would have to catch the Mistress and take the magic ring she uses to command me. If she were to return perhaps, but for now I wait to hear you guess the password. I am unable to tell you the password directly.
Chaosorbit |
Yes an intelligence check can be made if you want. And I also let you know that there are clues somewhere in thread that should clue you in. So feel free to make an INT check. But I bet you guys can figure it out without it!
Teradach |
xerbystes? The satrap of qadira when muhlia led the faction before her indescretions?
Farg |
Farg looks to the Djini then to the portraits on the wall.
No an oathbound servant such as yourself would never break his vows. But tell me what was your mistresses relationship to the two fine gentlemen on the paintings. Aglorn and Tancred Desimire if I recall correctly. Both of which actually found their death at the hands of agents of the Society...
Chaosorbit |
The djinn looks at Farg with a smile.
Well I would say they were both someone she was fond of in the past. Since you have spoken the password, which I did not tell you, you may pass me to my Master's quarters.
The gnoll tribe’s chief Chau is not suprisingly a violent type and he has with him another gnoll that the others avoid. As I understand it, this other gnoll violated a taboo and now bad luck follows wherever she goes.
Good Luck, honored guests.
With that the djinn fades from view.
Teradach |
Teradach is extremely confused by what just happened but realizing that they will be on the move soon continues to stuff as much food into his mouth as he can and chews while rejoining the others.
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Belches loudly but hasn't made himself sick due to the gorging.
Farg |
Farg casts a spell on himself and mentally prepares for the inevitable.
You heard him boys! We will meet very violent and a very unlucky Gnoll so it's time to show them what a true murder hobo can do!
Cast Heroism
Chaosorbit |
Feel free to try to diplomacy the gnolls if you want.
I assume you move to the door.
Farg |
Frg wouldn't be overly interested in Diplomacy here. If anyone else is step forth!
Onix |
Nope, Onix is okay with just pummeling them.
Onix hands his wand to someone to heal him before the upcoming fight and another wand to enhance him. CLW and Mage Armor.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Teradach |
Removes his scythe from his back and approaches the door, 'I will be in front unlesss sssomeone elssse desssiresss the job.'
I am +6 diplomacy, but am not good at diplomacy myself, normally I end up getting tired of the stupid (or overly intelligent) things they say and start combat. Long story short, I'd aid the conversation in any way, but do not make a good face. LOL
Chaosorbit |
Entering the room. A shallow reflecting pool is set into the tile floor, flanked by plush divans. Beyond two marble supporting columns, a heavy curtain separates the sitting room from the bedroom. A large map of Absalom hangs on the south wall, riddled with pins and crossed with colorful thread.
New map
You are at the entrance, what would you like to do?
Farg |
Farg steps into the room alongside Terdach and motions for the invisible Ninja to examine the perimeter.
Chaosorbit |
Chau Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Rothur Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 15
You enter the room, wall sconces where everburning torches have been partially hooded cast a strange ambient light from the pool in the center of the room. You notice a few dozen pins and some string lie on the ground under the map, including a few strings that connect to the map and the lay on the ground.
Teradach thinks he hears breathing from behind the curtain to your right (south).
Chaosorbit |
Ozak sneaks around to the left but doesn't spot the gnolls that are surely lurching nearby.
Chaosorbit |
Not from your current position, not yet in line of sight. Do you want to continue moving forward? I basically moved you the equivalent of 1 round.
Farg |
Natural 1 always fails anyhow...Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Chaosorbit |
Ozak is correct nat 1 does not autofail on skill checks.
Moving behind the pillar, Ozak finally glances the gnoll. A rather large female gnoll from the look of her. She wears leather armor, has a heavy wooden shield, and a weapon that looks like nunchaku, except made of iron and capped with a ring of spikes. The gnoll appears to just be tucking something in it's belt.
Ozak only for now.
Farg also picks up on movement and breathing behind the curtain.
Chaosorbit |
What do you want to do? If anyone wants to talk let me know what you are doing if not, I'll go ahead and put us in init order. Your call.
Farg |
Forgot that the rule was UMD specific... let's roll initiative shall we?
Teradach |
Teradach stops dead in his tracks andthrows his hand up as to tell everyone to hold. His tongue darts out to taste the air as he hears the breathing of what he suspects to be the two gnolls. He motions towards the curtain and holds up two fingers letting the others know.
i know we can kill these guys quickly, maybe it would be more fun to try to talk to them first then kill them... Or if you wanna just murder hobo that's fine too.
Teradach |
Obviously I mean... talk to them first... then kill them after we fail the diplomacy... not talk them down then kill them anyways... Teradach's already almost evil enough.
Farg |
We know you're hiding in the closet! Farg barks.
So come out and die like a dirty dog!
Chaosorbit |
A gnoll suddenly leaps from behind the curtain. She's a rather large female gnoll from the look of her. She wears leather armor, has a heavy wooden shield, and a weapon that looks like nunchaku, except made of iron and capped with a ring of spikes.
Anyone trained may attempt the knowledge local check now.
Haa! She says as if you'll be surprised by it.
Well what do was have hear, Farug said he didn't like the look of you and now here you stand which can only mean he's dead. What a fool! And that traitorous genie let you through somehow.
Now swinging her weapon menacingly, she puffs herself up to appear even bigger.
A bunch of fake slaves and slavers, when I'm done with you, you'll wish you were dead instead of my personal boot licking slaves. I'll break all of you, you can run, but if I catch ya it'll be worse, so you maggots drop on the ground and start licking, before I make you all bleed!
Farg |
Farg again auto suceeds on the Knowledge Check. Man I'm starting to dig that loremaster ability :)
Farg approaches with measured steps eying the Gnoll with his blood red eyes as he comes closer step by step, by step.
Chaosorbit |
The gnoll takes Farg movement as aggression and starts to attack.
Initiative:
Ozak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
