Crugeon sees a shiny thing floating in the air and wanders out of the area. Hopefully someone helpful finds him and leads him back to the PF lodge.

In the meantime, with a breath of lightly floral scented air, a tall willowy man with blue-tinged skin and gently flowing tattoos blows into the room. In a breathy voice, he announces:
Oh my! I made it and I do hope that I am not late I'm not really certain if I am ready for this, but it should be interesting perhaps I should try and find someone else to help us or maybe we have enough people already but now that i'm thinking about it i'm not even sure what we are doing or is anyone even here? ... Hello?? He says all in one long continuous breath.

Silver Crusade

A man around 30 walks into the PF lodge and draws a few quick glances. He is wearing a mix of priestly robes with some wizardly themed items and accompanied by a very large white tiger.

He turns to the tiger and says Well Shadow, we seemed to have drawn some attention but at least we made it back to the lodge safely once again!

He walks over to a table and orders some tea and a hearty meal for himself and some milk and a rare steak for his tiger. He seems a curious fellow as it seems he is having an active conversation with the tiger and when the tiger lets out what sounds like a hearty laugh, it sends a shiver down some of the local patrons spines when the large teeth are fully displayed.

HAHA! Shadow, you may want to limit your smile as it seems to have unnerved a few of the townsfolk. HAHA! Let's enjoy this hearty meal as it may be our last for awhile if we head out on a new mission soon.

Shadow lets out a purr that only a tiger can and digs into his meal very delicately and not anticipated by what most consider a wild beast.

Hamshanks ignored all pretense of pleasantries as he pounded into the meeting room in the Grand Lodge in Absalom. “Never time to do it right, is there? Gorum see us through this, then.” He grunted loudly and leveled his glare at the entire room. “Ever been to Qadira? Religion is almost a fad down there, with new cults springing up like weeds and getting crushed just as quickly. It has been that way for centuries."

“But some make a mark—on Qadira or in the Chronicles. Three centuries ago, the archdevil Moloch, preaching surrender to the desert heat, suddenly became the rage. Qadirans walked into the desert just to die just as if the heat was their paradise. The most devout sought out the hidden Citadel of Flame, where a fearsome bull-headed idol of Moloch judged them and sent the worthy to Malebolge, the sixth layer of Hell. No surprise that Sarenrae’s priests launched a mighty crusade to demolish the citadel. After two weeks, a great sandstorm swallowed the expedition—and, it seemed, the citadel and its idol. Nothing more was heard from either."

“Until ten days ago, that is. Sandstorms regularly scour the Qadiran highlands, and this time they emptied an entire valley of dunes. Poking out of that valley, visible only to those soaring above—such as a flying Pathfinder wizard—was the lofty spire of a fortress: the Citadel of Flame, presumably."

“Hopefully we are the first to learn about its reappearance and we need to act fast. The Decemvirate doesn’t expect any trouble, so they’re sending you. But I do expect trouble—who knows what’s infesting that citadel? Get in there fast and find that idol—it could be the key to the entire cult. It’s likely statue-sized, maybe as big as me, and should have a bull’s head on it. And for Gorum’s sake be careful.”

Now, after a swift voyage to Sedeq and a tiring trek through the endless Qadiran dunes, the sun beats down on a maze of red slickstone, with delicate arches and towering columns called hoodoos dotting the landscape. Somewhere within this expanse lies the Citadel of Flame and within, the idol of Moloch.

You would have had time to make any purchases and ask some questions.

Lem makes his introductions to the gathered adventurers. Cizish, what an interesting fellow you are! Bluish skin, a wonderfully bold personality, and I'm sure a penetrating intellect! I look forward to the conversations we'll have!

Zamar, nice to meet you. Tall, I like tall, always helpful in getting things up high....I'm Lem. I try an be handy when needed, stay out of the way when not.

Barboo? Is that you? Great to see a familiar face again! Where did you loose Crugeon?

I'm sure some hot weather clothing would make lots of sense. I'll need to sneak out after our conversation to pick up some.

So Mr. Hamshanks. Did the wizard provide us a map to guide our trek? We'll need to know a general direction from Sedeq. Did he or she give any details on what they saw? Do we have any contacts out there? Anyone we're to report to? Most importantly, who else is joining us? Any big broad muscly types with clanking armor and pointy swords? Oh, yes, will you arrange transport for us back when we find the idol?

After I'll purchase a wand of endure elements and a hot weather outfit.

Barboo dramatically enters the room.
Well if it isn't Lem! Glad to see a familiar face. Looks like we will be working together again. And glad to meet you Cizish and Zamar. Look at this cute kitty. We met a kitty on our last adventure and I was sad to leave him so Shadow will be a welcome companion.
Oh Lem, I saw Crugeon running in the opposite direction as I was coming. He looked confused as always but had a happy look on his face. Maybe we will see him again sometime.

After listening to the Hamshanks explain the desert scene.
I have my own hot weather outfit which I will put on. If any of you have a wand of cure that you would like me to carry with me, just hand it over now. Hopefully, we will not need to use the wand but one never knows.

Hamshanks gives Zamir a funny look, Well it's in the desert, up to you. Zamir recalls that the biggest religion in Qadira is that of the Dawnflower, Sarenrae. In the city of Sedeq, the slave and spice-capital of Qadira, the cult left such a mark, the faithful of Sarenrae spit on the sand whenever they speak of the Moloch cult. Moloch is archdevil of Malebolge and so-called God of Fires.

Addressing Lem, Here be the map He hands it to Lem before adding, Well he saw the Citadel didn't he, sticking out of the sand. Report back to me here is Absalom once you've found that statue, bring it on back here. You'll take a ship from here in Absalom, down to southern Qadira to Sedeq, there will be some camels waiting for you there head out into the Meraz desert. Follow the map. Get the idol, bring the camels back, hop on a ship and sail back here. Sound easy enough. With this team you should be able to get out quiet and quick.

Make any last minute questions or purchases and we'll get a closer look at the citadel tomorrow.

As everyone else enters the room, Cizish seems more interested in the way that your movement stirs the air in the room and he marvels at the steam rising off Shadow's steak. Although not outright rude, he does invade personal space and seems to not realize he is doing it. The first person he addresses is Shadow, using his Druidic skill of Wild Empathy.
My, my. What a magnificent creature you are and your choice of a meal is quite...robust? Do you enjoy your companion and is he fair to you, he looks to be a good man but I always feel the need to ask since one never knows. Without waiting for a response from Shadow or a glance at Zamar, Cizish blows over to Lem and Barboo. Oh! how marvelous there are little people in our group! I rarely get to work with little people and we don't have them where I come from, are you very strong? I am not, but I would guess that you are not based on how small you are and, oh my, look at your hair, is that natural, can I have orange hair, I wonder if it's possible and why didn't that tiger have orange hair, they usually do you know, but that's not important right now we need to be thinking about the mission and the desert Then switching to Dwarven mid-sentence: isn't that correct Mr Hamshanks? I'm sure you would like us to get started, you seem all business which I think is wonderfully interesting And back to common. but I don't think I would say my intellect is penetrating, rather I am light on my feet As he continues to talk, he does a graceful backflip in the air and almost seems to float through the motion. and I have been told that I am quite insightful and I do love nature, but some find me annoying, but I find them curious, are we leaving yet? I also have a wand that will cure injuries, thank you for offering to carry He hands it to Barboo as he flows by her, then doubles back and snatches it from her hand before she can realize it. it, but why would I have you carry it when I need it since I can cast it too? Let me see what I can learn of this desert region, I do love travel!

Mr Lem, do you know how long our travel will take based on your map? I have some abilities that will make our travel easier, but it will diminish my number of spells to harm any foes.

Barboo, thanks for holding my cure light wounds wand, you'll be better at using it than I am.
@Karen--I think that will prevent me from having to role a use magic device skill check. I can do that but you won't have to.

It will be handy to have someone who can actually speak with that mighty feline beast! It will take a bit of getting used to having that fuzzy ball of claws and teeth around. I've never adventured with a tiger before and I feel like Barboo and I might look like a couple of spindly snacks!

Cizish, do you think halflings would taste different to a tiger than a human, or a sylph? Like I think I would taste spicy but you probably would taste more like a marshmallow......something to ponder on our long trip to Qadira.

Well Mr. Hamshanks, I think your suggestion of quietly slipping in and out is a good one. More my style and less chance of trouble.

Anyone have thoughts on disguises we could use to help attract less attention? Is qadira like Saudi Arabia? Veils and head wraps and things with voluminous white clothing? If so we could purchase to cover ourselves or send in to the market when we get there a person to buy and bring back to party as we depart the boat. Taking a little extra time to plan how to be sneaky might be necessary as we don't have a lot of muscle to deal with surprises. Do we have a cover story? Treasure hunters? Or seeking Sarenrae in the desert for enlightenment?

What a wonderfully horrifying thing to think about, but I do think you are on to something with the taste of halflings and sylphs although i hope the large kitty-friend doesn't get any ideas although I'm sure his capable companion will help convince him to leave us alone, would kitty like a drink, it will be hot in the desert and we'll all be thirsty, did i mention that i can create water, it's absolutely delicious and doesn't taste mundane like the water that i've had from wells and such but it's not nearly as refreshing as water from a mountain spring but I don't think we'll see any mountain springs in the desert, but it will be hot, would kitty like a drink? Again, all in one long rambling breath.

Good idea on the disguises. I think our "hot weather outfit" could look like local garb at GMs discretion. Let's see what David says about stealthy entrances, but agree that we should if we can.

The start of this one was written as a flashback...so yeah your at the Citadel! I'll repost that last bit.
@Zamar - is Shadow large or medium? Also to make it simple we'll have Shadow act on your init count.

The path descends through a maze of cliffs, opening into a slot canyon of smooth red stone surrounded by towering hoodoos. At the far side, two hoodoos carved into enormous bull-headed men leer down on the canyon, while those nearby look like stylized flames. To either side, the canyon walls rise steeply in a series of rough ledges to the clifftops above. Brass doors on a massive wall of baked gray mud can be seen through an arch at the far side of the canyon.

Barboo sings her little song as she looks around her knowledge (local) of the stories of the Citadel of Flame, confirm that this is indeed the place. Zamir casts his defensive magic on he and Shadow, and then stands at the entrance to the canyon focused on any magical auras that may be lingering. The sorcerer is disappointed not to find any. Shadow begins to advance cautiously, but not too quietly. As a focused Lem, has eyes only for the brass doors, which show less tarnished than you would expect, perhaps by being protected under the sands for so long.

With so much to take in, you all failed to notice the faint scorch marks crisscrossing the valley floor. But when Shadows claws make a noise, Fire Elementals among the canyon rocks suddenly spring to action. Only Lem is faster to react than the planar creatures.

Once he hears Barboo's song, he hurls the arrow at the fire creature attacking Lem. It flashes across the valley with a crackle and flies over Lem's shoulder to slam into the flaming creature.

Attack (vs touch): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 16
Deadeye's arrow damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Electrical damage. Attacking in melee accounted for. Add 2 to each if banner and inspire courage are active.

@Barboo - You can roll a Knowledge check (likely Planes in this case) to learn about the creatures. This is a free action, so you can still take a move and standard action. If you don't have Knowledge (Planes), then as a bard, you can roll the knowledge check "untrained" and just add your bard level to the roll. If the roll is high enough, David will tell us 1 or more interesting things about the creature - hopefully to make it easier for us to fight them.

Barboo seeing the flames around Lem and Shadow quickly unfurls the banner and begins to sing a song to inspire courage.
Go get them! My song should encourage you all!

Shadow shakes of the flames as he rips into the elemental destroying it.
Zamir launches a magic missile at the other elemental, which strikes unerringly. Barboo begins her song and an inspired Cizish hurls his bolt of electricity, it pops and crackles as it as it hits the fire. The elemental explodes, raining sparks all around!

Out of Combat -- still need save from Lem

With the elementals defeated, you are free to investigate the canyon. The bull-headed statues leer down on the valley while the flame-carved hoodoos rise gracefully far above the canyon floor.

The arch at the east end of the canyon has a multitude of faint runes carved on its front.

DC 15 Craft (stonemasonry):

Several of these glyphs were carved recently.

Speak Ignan or DC 25 Linguistics:

Most of the glyphs are prayers to Moloch begging for the grace of immolation.

Speak Kelish or DC 15 Linguistics:

A few of the more ancient glyphs are written in Kelish and have been partially rubbed out recently. These glyphs record the prayers of Sarenrae’s crusaders, they seem to be pleas to the dawnflower, perhaps from there final hours.

Cizish looks surprised as the bolt leaves his hand and he then runs over to look at the remnants of the exploded elemental. If Lem is on fire, he absentmindedly pats him out.
How fascinating to see how air and fire interact in such a fashion, I had expected to see more smoke or perhaps the elemental would have absorbed the energy of the bolt and become stronger, I really never know and I’m a bit disappointed not to see what would have happened, but for my little friend’s sake, I guess this was a better outcome.

Not being a skilled linguist or stonemason, he takes a general look around.

Seems that Shadow is still too miffed at the elemental for burning him to notice anything else.

As Zamar identifies some of the ancient glyphs, the vast majority remain a mystery. The rest look around, Barboo notes that the arch and building ahead seem structurally sound enough (know engineering) In a small outcrop near the arch, you find two mummified and perfectly preserved corpses of Sarenite dervishes. 4 vials and 4 arrows glimmer with a magical aura when Zamar cast his detect magic upon them. Spellcraft to identify

Beyond the arch, the red stone hoodoos open up to a massive citadel. The stronghold appears to have two parts: the nearest is a squat, square fortress covered in decaying plaster and topped by an enormous minaret from which a thin plume of smoke escapes. The plaster walls are richly decorated with intricate geometric carvings of dancing flames, and smaller minarets rise from the corners. At the east end of that building, the valley floor drops suddenly and a windowless second structure perches on a plateau beyond, rising gracefully from the void in a tangle of minarets and spires. Even though centuries of sand have scoured away most of the gold leaf that once decorated the structure, the sunlight reflecting off the deep red stone of the citadel makes the entire structure glow like a massive bonfire. A delicate, red, enclosed bridge links the first fortress with the second one beyond. A pair of massive brass doors covered in a flowing decorative script blocks access to the near fortress.

Zamar says Hey Lem, what do you think about those doors? Locked or any traps? I think I'll let you do your thing before moving any closer.

Cizish runs to the nook and glances at the magical items briefly and casts his own detect magic. Ooh! Those look nice, should we take them or would that be desecration to this place, although we did find them and I heard someone once say “finders keepers” but does that apply here and did you just put demon blood on your tiger. Wow! Does that hurt to get healed like that?
Still talking, he races over to Lem at the door. Let me help! Casts guidance on Lem: +1 to his DD roll. While continuing to chatter, Cizish’s eyes move almost as fast as his mouth to thoroughly scour the door for traps and such.

This door looks very interesting, but I wonder what is to the north of us, Lem, and Oh! There might be something curious around the back of this building perhaps we should head back there first, but going in the front door seems like a good idea because the front door is always the way in, but I do like the idea of the back door, or maybe just go north and look at the valley before we go inside... I wonder what those magic arrows were?

Hey everyone. Looks like these are four Oil of Bless weapon and four +1 holy arrows. These could come in handy for sure. Who is handy with a bow?

Good idea Cizish! Let's look around the outside to see if maybe there is another, more secret entrance. Walking directly in the front is not always the best way in! How about we try around the North side first and we don't find anything we can then move to search the south side.
