Can Kiana tell the fight is over from where she is?

"Summoned or conjured creatures, eh?" says Atsu.

"Someone better get Kiana, or send her a missive with magic or telepathy."


She can't tell the fight is over, but she can tell that time has passed and that fights don't actually take very much time (only six seconds per round), so she knows it is most likely over by the time she has gotten alchemist fire.

"No thank you, I'll just find a street thug to rob me, it will feel less like being violated." She answers, and then flies back to the fight area.

"It appears you completed it, I had gone to see if I could find some Alchemist fire, but the creatures who owned the tent wanted 45 gold for 2 bottles." She pauses. "The tent was bigger on the inside than the outside, something obviously that should not be possible. Why would anyone waste such magic on a lowly alchemy tent?"

"Well, we should get on with the follow-up - finding any clues of who did this and why," says Atsu in his no-nonsense tone.

"I think perhaps they were trying to throw us off of the scent we already had. I believe we should press on with what we were about to do and that will lead us to the very foes who seek to hide from us".


Those gathering information from the talk of the town find

Gather Information (Diplomacy) 15:
There have been outbursts of these giant conjured bugs in the past in this town. They seem to occur roughly once a month, usually on the seventh day of a month, and it started happening some time last year. Many of the Reidran refugees are concerned that the Inspired are involved somehow, but most of the second- and third-generation Syrks in town don't seem to think it's a big deal.

The psionically inclined in town can't seem to agree on whether these giant bugs are conjured out of nothing or transmuted from ordinary insects. In any event, they almost always form during the night, despite not being noticeably hampered by sunlight.

Kiana nods. "Fine with me, then I'll get back to my rooftop and finish my maps so we can get out of here." Kiana sends dust flying with her wing beats, and then stops. "You want to be flown back, or walk?" She asks Atsu dourly, but at least doesn't insult him this time.

Kiana's talons clack as she grabs Atsu by the armor straps on his back, and jerks him into the sky with what should be much too much ease. Indeed, her movements with the heavy man might just as well be her hauling a puppy.

Once up on the building again, she drops him sorta easy near the center, then settles down to service her bow before getting back to the maps. Then she pauses, and sighs. "Remind me to buy some more arrows before we leave town." Then back to drawing.

Getting arrows is not hard for Kiana you can just assume you found them for sale at the listed price, nor is an inn hard to find.

Kiana finishes up her maps, judges them with a critical eye, and smiles, the unusual expression lighting her face up for a change. "Well now, not bad if I do say so myself. Not my best work, given the conditions, but still darn good!" Her signature is hidden in a few places on the map's lines, and also prominantly on the corner.

She takes the new maps of the coast and the mountains, and hands them to the map shop owner. The she gets the maps of the areas they are going, and heads out, even as the map shop owner is handing a map over to his apprentice to draft a copy of.

Finding everyone else, she tilts her head at the comment she heard as she rejoined them. "What tunnels? I hate tunnels..."


In-character, I believe Pierce, Shatter, and Viktor are the ones who know about the tunnel Pierce is referring to. And Tawk was also there, but he's an NPC now.

"In the warehouse that Pierce was so determined to investigate,"
Tawk responds to Kiana's inquiry,
"The one that we set on fire by accident. The telepath we fought had come out of an underground passage under the warehouse."

Pierce shrugs at Kiana's statement, "It may or it may not. It is a local lead so we should follow it first before it goes cold. At least that is how I handle investigations in Sharn..."

Pierce shakes his head at Viktor, "Unfortunately my talents lie in repairing not healing".


The night passes uneventfully. Getting back to the charred warehouse isn't hard. Though the walls are visibly charred, the building's foundation is still there. The trap door is closed, but does not appear locked.
Examining the trap door reveals...

You cannot hear anything under the door, and it doesn't appear to be trapped.

If someone tries to open the trap door,

try to open the door:
The door opens without resistance. A pit about 20 feet wide and 40 feet deep descends below the warehouse. At the bottom is a dank tunnel of stone and clay, leading north, which goes on further than you can see. A horrid stench of decaying organic material errupts from the pit as the door is opened.

There are no sounds or motion in the pit or tunnel that you can see or hear. The door wans't trapped either. If anyone used this tunnel recently, they didn't do much to secure it.

"All quiet here. Shall I open it?" asks Atsu as the group reconvenes at the trapdoor.
