Yeah I re-read about it - after I posted, what a waste of a 20! lol

female DM

Yeah, you don't have to get very high to do the diplomacy thing. My GM seems to think that you can just roll diplomacy once a level, but I think you need to do it with a gift or insult, right?

I have the guide at home....for some reason I thought it was a daily check or something....I'll have a look when I get back.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

Yes, each NPC has 3 possible gifts or insults, one of each gift or insult each player knows for their associated NPC (through the trait). The other two gift/insults we have to find out on our own. Once per level you may give them a gift or insult and roll diplomacy or intimidate depending on the gift/insult. The check to beat is always your current score. Beat it by 10 you get +2 instead of +1.

female DM

I should probably mention those. I think we all want gifts. I'm only not 100% with Sienna, but I think you want gifts, too, right?

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

Yes, most likely. If she would insult her brother it would never be to his face. I think the relationship I'm going for with her is sort of a love/hate sibling rivalry.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

Where can I find the rules for relationship scores?

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

In the Player's Guide. It's wedged between the Traits and the caravan rules.

EDIT: Is it common knowledge that the Licktoads are somewhere in Brinestump?

female DM

Yes. They've always been in the Brinestump Marsh to the south. A little bit of information gathering can get you where they've moved to, recently.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Good just trying to avoid metagaming.

Wanwa'lasse wrote:

Hemlock already mentioned that they are in Brinestump anyway, I think.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

What time is it in game? How far is Brinestump?

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

Sorry about stepping out Hijiro, it's just I feel "refusing to answer" is sort of a cop out for the vow of truth, and I'd rather use it only in extreme situations if I can. ;)

no problem - I have a monk with vow of truth too... I know how difficult it can be to play.

female DM

It's probably around 6'oclock, taking the main roads, it's around two miles away. You've probably got two more hours of good sunlight.

female DM

@Balthazar - I feel the same way!

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

So we'd get there right as the sun sets. Good think we're leaving early in the morning.

female DM

Good thing, indeed

"My home is a mess, you can't come in" - the excuse of a hoarder! walthus is a hoarder! lol j/k

female DM

lol, Hijiro. He probably is...

female DM

Combat! YEAH! So, we can resolve the round and such. Would we like to just go cinematic, or were you more for maps so you get every last AOO and such?

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

Balthazar is soooo flat-footed that it actually makes me glad there aren't levels of flat-footedness.

I'm good for either way, as long as Hijiro can have a chance to tumble into flanking position. Don't want to lose that if we go cinematic.

are we held up by waiting for inits from kravo and wanwa? or is there something else going on? maybe we should have a 24 hour or the dm rolls for you policy if that's all we're waiting on. Just an idea.

Sorry. But I was stuck in a busy stretch for a bit. Posting for Kravo now...

I think we should let the DM roll initiative or we all make initiative rolls well in advance. There is no point holding everyone up for one person's initiative roll.

In another PbP we provide the DM with a series of Perception rolls in advance before each "segment" of the adventure. We also make Initiave rolls at the end of combat, which are then applied at the beginning of the next combat. Just an idea....

female DM

I like that idea. I'll definitely do that for next combat!

female DM

Wanwa'lasse, are you still playing?

F Half-Elf Ranger

I've been following this thread, even though I was passed up as player. I did change her race to H/E from Human. I still have an interest should the need arise. I play in a shackles game and I'm an active poster. I, also, run an active CoT PbP game.

female DM

Thanks Jenar. I will keep you posted should Wanwa'lasse's player not return.

F Half-Elf Ranger

Thanks for the consideration.

There are a lot of gaming conventions around the country on Mem. day weekend, plus it's family time for a lot of folks, perhaps Wanwa is doing one of those things?

Maybe we should establish a courtesy action that if we're going to be checking out for any length of time that we make a post about it so our character can be botted by the GM so as not to hold up game play.

female DM

I agree with the idea of courtesy posts, Hijiro. I forgot about the long weekend, being up in Canada. I'm not going to go "NO! YOU CAN'T HAVE A LIFE!" I just thought I'd ask and see if s/he still did want to play. I did her round of combat, so when she gets back, if there's something I did wrong or an RP that s/he wants to do, I'd be happy to get something going for him/her.

Male Goblin Paladin/1, Father/13

As Jenar has already made a post, I thought I would as well.
In the event that Wanwa'lasse is unable to continue, I also would like to be considered.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

I'm posting here to avoid clogging the gameplay thread. Actually monks don't take any penalty for dealing nonlethal damage with their unarmed attacks as stated in the following extract from the core rulebook: "Usually a monk's unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but he can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on his attack roll." ;)

HP 27/27; AC 17 (T 15, FF 12); saves F +2, R +10, W +2; bab: 3; melee 4(+8), ranged +8; CMB 4, CMD 19; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Rogue/4

You're right Balt., Hijiro would have no way of knowing what type of damage you did tho, so wouldn't know it was non-lethal. otherwise he might have done a cdg on the beastie. So if you want to try to question it or something, it's a good thing he didn't do that. Personally I think we should just kill it - it's some kind of abomination.

female DM

Oh yeah! Sorry Balthazar, I haven't seen many monks in play. Will remember for next time, but your first hit missed and second hit, regardless.

Just a heads up. Starting Weds I will be on vacation. For a few days at least, I will be driving about 10 hours a day and only able to post very late at night pst. So if you don't hear from me for long periods, that's why.

We will be staying at hotels with wifi, so I will check in as soon as I can after arrival each night.

This sort of schedule is likely to last about 13 days (we return on June 13th, so just giving a heads up -

DM - feel free to bot my character in combat if I don't post quickly enough to keep things moving along.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

I'm ok with that. My vacations will be in August, and I'll probably have a hard time with internet access myself. ;)

female DM

Very nice! Where are you guys going?

I'm going up to Seattle to see my son get married on Saturday, then off to Alaska for a week long cruise starting Sunday, then back down to California after the cruise. I will have internet at nighttimes and on the cruise, but will probably have limited time to read and post... mostly at night, I'm sure, after the husband has gone to sleep, lol.

female DM

Wow, that sounds like quite the vacation. No worries about the internet and stuff like that. We'll keep moving and if you miss out on something, we can come back to it when you have the time!

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

As for me, nothing decided yet, but I usually synch my vacations with my wife so we can spend a few weeks traveling together. However, since she's trying to change jobs, this year might be different. Anyway, we're thinking New York City/Washington D.C. or maybe Eastern Europe, it will depend on how much prep time we have (and ticket fares, and exchange rates, etc).

female DM

Nice. Is there one you prefer over the other? I've done a trip that covered both Washington D.C and New York and very much liked it. But that was years and years ago.

It's such a quiet day...

female DM

I ended up running around town yesterday. Sorry about that! Wanwa'lasse has dropped out, so Irnk, Dead Eye's Prodigal is up as the sixth player I picked.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

To help maintain immersion, I suggest Wanwa'Lasse takes the faceless stalker back to the sheriff while we move on to the goblin camp.

To re-iterate my final posting on the Recruitment thread, "OhMYGOSH!! Thank you!!!

I have been wanting to play in Jade Regent since I read it was coming out. Ameiko & Shalelu were my favorite NPC's in Burnt Offerings.

This is the exact same character, I just made it as an alias so as to differentiate between player character avatar & 'poster' avatar.

Celestine, am I correct that you want me to keep track of my relationship scores with the primary NPC's?
I am planning on having competitive/rivalry/antagonistic scores if that is all right? I figure I may be a Paladin, but I'm still a Goblin after all. I'm not saying my attitude regarding them won't grow over time but at least initially, well as far as Irnk is concerned, Shalelu is the murderous psycho who slaughtered his entire tribe, Amiko is her best friend, & both Sandru and Koya are Varisian's, an ethnicity of human he has a bad history with.

Again, I'm still a Paladin & by this time I've been 'on the fence' so-to-speak for long enough I have seen both sides of the story. Not to mention having even closer first hand knowledge of just how evil little bastards my kin can be, so my antagonism towards the 'four' & the other PC's is solely going to be competitiveness & snarky attitude, but there will be a lot of both. Please let me know if it starts becoming a problem.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

This is going to be fun. I will likely be butting heads with you a ton throughout the game. Can't wait to see how that happens though, all the arguments we will likely have will be in good fun though, I hope what we come up with will be good for all to see.

Male Human (Varisian) Monk 2 / HP 20 of 20 / F+4 R+5 W+5 / AC 16.16.13 / Init. +2 / Perc +7

Hey Irnk, just read your backstory, nice work there. ;)
