Hi Sienna... mmm.. good question!

Checking in!

Half-Orc Bard 1st: Savage Skald / HP *-1* of 11 / F+3.R+3.W+2 / AC 14.10.14 / Init. +0 / Perc -1

Hi all. Checking in and ready to play Kravo.

It looks like Balthazar's stats add up to a 19 point buy. You still have a point to spend. I think.

female DM

I can only think of one house rule that doesn't relate to player behavior while at the table and that's the fact that ones are re-rolled on hp rolls.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"My bow is ready, and my quiver is full."

Hello! This is certainly going to be interesting with a Goblin paladin and a half-elf fighter frightened by goblins. ;)

Hey Kravo, it went down to what would amount to a 19-pt buy because of the middle-aged template. The original scores (for a 20-pt buy) are: 15/15/14/12/13/7. Middle-aged template adds 1 to all mental scores and subtracts 1 from all physical scores.

female DM

The goblin paladin is a backup and everyone's shown up, so no worries. The only real conflict is that there are two with crushes on Ameiko. I just wanted to make sure that it was okay with you guys or if you'd rather not have that possible (probable) character friction.

HP 42/42; AC 20 (T 16, FF 20); saves F +3, R +11, W +3 (5vsfear); bab: 4; melee 5(+9), ranged +9; CMB 5, CMD 20; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Swashbuckler Rogue/6

it's okay with me... I don't see it as a major conflict per se, though there might be a little jealousy if she favors one over the other, we'll have to wait to see... somehow with two non-humans mooning over her, I'm not sure she'll pick either as a love interest, lol. And the competition for her attention might actually be some good opportunity for rp too.

female DM

We'll see how it plays out and as I get more of a feel for Ameiko as a character. I think it'll be interesting, too, which is why I went for it, in part.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

Alright, I will do the last updates to her character sheet, mostly grammar mistakes on her back story and adding the bits from the questions. I've also spotted some errors from calculations that I will tidy up. I will also give her some misc adventuring gear with the rest of her money.

I will preface one thing when I play Sienna for rp sakes, she is very aggressive so if Sienna is getting angry it isn't me as a player doing it, just the character. I know this is a bit of silly one but I've had some cases where people forgot that I was acting :)

What an odd pair to be competing for Ameiko's attention! I'm sure it will be interesting. We might get some entertainment out of the rivalry.

I am going over Kravo's Gear...I always miss something at first.

I have a question about languages. Is Varisian the lingua franca of the Sandpoint area? Is it common, or is the Common more like Chelaxian?

female DM

The majority of people will speak Varisian and the few who don't and visitors to the country would speak Taldane (Common). I'm going over the character sheets and will have some gameplay up today. Also, how does everyone like to do combat in play by posts?

HP 42/42; AC 20 (T 16, FF 20); saves F +3, R +11, W +3 (5vsfear); bab: 4; melee 5(+9), ranged +9; CMB 5, CMD 20; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Swashbuckler Rogue/6

As for doing combat, I can go for maps or free form depending on whatever the DM prefers. Maps are great, but they can also be a hassle for the DM. (I highly recommend maptools at rptools.net, but it does take a little work for the DM to set up initially).

Also, you are welcome to bot my character if for some reason I don't post for any 12 hour period (that's very unlikely, but I suppose it COULD happen).

Feel free if I don't post quickly enough, to roll my perception and initiative checks too. I just want to see things move along smoothly and don't want to hold up the action.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

I just noticed, I'm the only one capable of casting healing spells and has heal. I'm going to add a healing kit right now to make sure we have something at the very least. Might have to prepare a cure spell once a day too just in case.

As for combat, I really don't mind just using imagination and using the system of monsters average initiative vs our average initiative then we take it in turns like that. However the normal way holds merit too it's just at that point we have to wait for the player whose turn it is in initiative order usually. Instead of having everyone post something then resolve the round. As Hijiro suggested though rptools is good if we do the map route.

female DM

The resolving the round afterwards sounds like the best way. I'll have a look at the map tools or using imagination works for me. I've done both for different types of games and situations. I think a map may help for the first adventure at least.

HP 42/42; AC 20 (T 16, FF 20); saves F +3, R +11, W +3 (5vsfear); bab: 4; melee 5(+9), ranged +9; CMB 5, CMD 20; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Swashbuckler Rogue/6

Don't always have to wait for initiative order... I've been in games where everyone just posts when they can get online and they try to read what others have stated already to avoid ninja'd actions.

The DM then sorts the actions into init order and resolves them - again a little more work for the DM, but it keeps the game moving.

The DM slots the opponents in on their initiatives and then states beginning of the next round when s/he is ready.

Just an idea... but average of inits works for me too. But the above could work using init averages too.

When it comes down to it - I can work with just about any kind of system, so it comes down to DM preference & whatever it takes to keep the game moving imo.

I think Balthazar will be of little worth in the healing department, since he can't touch anyone. Also, he can't receive touch spells, so goodberries is a nice choice for a healing spell. :)

Concerning combat, I don't have any preferences, whatever you choose is fine by me.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

So, instead of healing you through normal medicine/healing spells I am going to be slowly feeding you magic fruit? That actually sounds quite funny. Pity good berries only really heals 2d4 damage per casting, though I could carry round a pouch full as they last for days. Though it's a pity that I can't give you Magic Fang either.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Darn, no goblin Pally :|

I'll do some edits later to Wanwa'lasse's sheet. to reflect my answers to the questions.

@ Sienna: I plan on going ranger after second, so I'd be able to cast healing spells from scrolls and wands then.

@ Balthazar: Just skimmed over the sheet, but why won't touch spells heal you?

@ The GM: Just found out that I got into a game your significant other is running. Hopefully I can keep you both entertained.

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

@Wanwa: Can rangers use scrolls and wands before they get spellcasting at 4th as they have no CL before then? You'll also need an 11 in Wis which you don't have to use CLW so, that's me on my own for 4 levels basically. I can cope with that though I just need to be prepared.

As for Balthazar he's using a vow of celibacy which will prevent us using touch spells on him.

Half-Orc Bard 1st: Savage Skald / HP *-1* of 11 / F+3.R+3.W+2 / AC 14.10.14 / Init. +0 / Perc -1

A little metagame switch before we start:
I switched out Expeditious Retreat for Cure Light Wounds. Hope that helps a bit, Sienna.

I made a few small adjustments. I reduced Dexterity and increased Intelligence to better reflect Kravo's characteristic blend of corpulence and intelligence. Stats and Skills were adjusted accordingly. He now speaks Giant as well.

I also adjusted his gear so that he can keep his orc falchion without being completely penniless.

I think I corrected the stats properly. Let me know.

female DM

Everything looks good to me. I'm off to create the first thread of gameplay!

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

@Kravo Cool thanks, that should help out a bit, as I only have 2 possible spell slots a day at the moment for curative spells. I'm just not a cleric, hopefully that should be alright though.

@Celestine8 - At what time were we supposed to meet at the Rusty Dragon? Sorry, I'd assumed it was early in the night, that's why I finished my "day in the life" at night. Give me a time frame and I can work something out.

female DM

Sorry about that. I should have been more clear. Totally my fautlt. We are supposed to meet at the end of the day, on different circumstances and your beginning was perfect. I just noticed that other players started right at the beginning and I wanted to get everyone on the same time frame. I suppose this works much better in person!

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

@ Cele: Okay I've been thinking. I wanted to go ranger, but most of a ranger's abilities are tied to wisdom. If it's okay with you. I'm going to move some points around to fix that oversight on my part.

female DM

Wanwa'lasse- That's fine.

Also, if you guys feel that we should try a different sort of start, so we're all in 'real time' at the same time, we can. This clearly works better IRL than on a PBP. Just let me know and I'll fix it up.

HP 42/42; AC 20 (T 16, FF 20); saves F +3, R +11, W +3 (5vsfear); bab: 4; melee 5(+9), ranged +9; CMB 5, CMD 20; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Swashbuckler Rogue/6

I'm good with doing a little rp to bring the daytimers up to evening with the rest of us... I'll be patient :)

I just need one more entry to get to the Rusty Dragon. I just wanted to break up the day a bit in order to seed a couple of character ideas for Kravo and invite possible role play.

female DM

It's happening, Unspunnen! Your RP entries were great and I am planning on adding to them. I'll be around all night tonight and will get around to everyone!

Female Human Druid, Pace: 6 Parry: 8 (3) Toughness: 6 (+2 vs ranged) Charisma: 0, Wounds 3/3, Bennies 3/3, Power points 15/15

er well, I don't even know what time zones people are in. I will be around tomorrow night basically, that's current British time. After say 7pm since that's when I get back from work.

I'm in Toronto. GMT -5. I do shift work, so I'm all over the map with posting.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

CST for me. I can post the most between 6:00 and 10:00 PM.

HP 42/42; AC 20 (T 16, FF 20); saves F +3, R +11, W +3 (5vsfear); bab: 4; melee 5(+9), ranged +9; CMB 5, CMD 20; speed 30; init +5, Kitsune Swashbuckler Rogue/6

PST for me, but I can post anytime since I don't work outside the house and I can be at the computer whenever I want, which is frequently.

female DM

I'm in the same time zone as Unspunnen!

GMT-3. Posting whenever time permits, since I do most of my work in front of the computer. Weekends are a little harder because it's the time I spend with my significant other, and she's demanding of attention. ;)

I don't mean to bore you all much longer before getting the party together, I'll probably just go find Koya, spend some time with her and go back to the Rusty Dragon for dinner, after all, it's the only place he knows in town, and food is ok :). Just trying to make it natural in the gameplay thread.

Celestine8 wrote:

So I'm an hour behind you two, cool.

female DM

I'm sorry about the short responses, but I'm wanting to get some dialogue going, without putting words in people's mouths! I'm a stay at home mom (for the moment?) and check back often, but often have my hands full. I'll be able to post throughout the day, but not at reliable times, until after eight at night.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

No problem. It's been great so far, I'm just trying to balance work, family and this.

I'm taking some liberties with Koya opening the door to Balthazar so we can move on to dialogue and then get him to the tavern :)

female DM

NOOO!! She was NEVER GOING TO OPEN THE DOOR! It's actually pretty helpful, thanks! I get the balancing act thing, I'm definitely not going to get all upset that you have a life.

Haha, who knows, maybe you wanted to have a bunch of goblins meet me inside the house and I just ruined it. ;)

female DM

Does everyone know how the relationship score system works?

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

This is going to sound embarrassing considering I own the first part of this AP and have the player's guide, but not really. I know that you can improve it with gifts, diplo, and other things, but beyond that, I'm in the dark.
