"Aleksander, you look, well, horrible. We had a wand of lesser restoration around here somewhere. Who has it? Maybe we should spare a charge or two for poor Aleksander here."
He watches Aliseya as she closes her hands over they symbol. "Hey, you OK too?"
He starts to wonder if he's delirious and injured worse than he thought.
Oaken Spirit, Рsychopomp |
Zelda, you find a locked strong box within Grine's room.
On Vorkstag, you find six potions, a wand, a masterwork heavy mace, two packets of dust, an alchemist's kit, a formula book, keys and four vials of liquid. Within his room you find hundreds of books, a complete alchemist's lab, three packets of flash powder and five pots of alchemist grease.
Aliseya Belododia |
While obsessing and muttering creepily over the unholy symbol, Aliseya's body suddenly shudders. With a rapid exhale, she shakes her body, as if she'd at last successfully woken herself from a nightmare. Her eyes are their normal hues once again: the one is hazel and the other blood red.
"I remember more this time. More of what she... or I... did." She shudders again with horrified expression over the bone breaking torment unleashed by her alter ego moments ago.
She then remembers what's in her hand. "Ew!" She drops the unholy symbol like it's a hot potato. "Creepy... it's a dark relic of Norgorber, god of thieves, assassins, and secrets."
Looking around the complex they stand in, "I guess we're onto your secrets, eh mister?" She glares sternly at the alchemist.
"Oh!" She suddenly realizes her friends are in pain and bleeding... and that she herself is bleeding, too! "Here..." Ali whips out her healing wand and begins to heal everyone who needs it.
I've got a couple of clw wands, feel free to roll 1d8+1 for yourself as many times as you need it. These rolls are for myself:

"Yes please." Aleks says to Gov, still leaning heavily against the wall. He takes the wand and taps himself twice, before feeling mostly better. Naturally, he waves off Ali's wand, since it would do nothing good for him.

Her face expresses both horror and intrigue, "Not sure if this is a good thing or not, but at least I'm becoming more aware of her and her actions." She sighs and rubs her upper thigh. "When this trial is past us, I really like need to go and see a trustworthy priest, get this damn necromantic thing out of my thigh already."
Getting back to the business at hand, Ali aids Cary and Gov as they question Grine. Speaking with unusual professionalism, "We have the authority to bring you in for lawful interrogation. She listens intently to the alchemist's reply.

Grine has a potion of cure light wounds.
Grine spits blood at Caracotl and smiles. "Well Caracotl, all I know is that the beast is going to burn for its crimes. Doesn't matter if he's innocent of not - he'll die just the same." He then frowns darkly at you. "And rumor has it that the people of this city have had about enough of you and your friends trying to stop this execution. I reckon they'll be burnin' you also! But what do I care? I got nothing to do with any of this! Now, let me go before the law shows up!"
Caracotl, you sense that he is lying.

Eyes flashing with holy light, Aleksander focuses his sixth sense on Grine. "You should not lie to those whose powers you cannot comprehend." the paladin says. Paladin's move action-variant Detect Evil. I doubt I'll learn anything we don't already know, but perhaps the power of his aura might tell us something. If nothing else, maybe it'll unsettle him.
Oaken Spirit, Рsychopomp |
Grine snarls at Caracotl and Aleksander. "Or what? Oh, I understand the source of your 'power' all too well." He points to Caracotl's holy symbol. "Your goddess will not allow you to torture or kill me. Desna is the source of both your power and your weakness! You'll get no help from me, fools."
Aleksander, Grine radiates faint evil.
Where to from here?
Aliseya Belododia |
"Oh yeah?" Ali remarks to the alchemist. "Best pray you don't piss me off. I don't know who or what my alter ego worships, but I'd bet it ain't Desna..." Recalling the symbol of Norgorber she'd moments ago dropped, and after almost bringing herself to turn and glimpse the pile of broken bodies by the base of the ladder, her eyes reflect sincere horror at the thought of what gods and demons her other self might pray to.
Then Ali suddenly shudders. Her jaw drops, as if she'd just heard something quite distasteful. "Gross," she mutters to herself, shaking off whatever it was. Her light jewels jingle, echoing hollowly in the vast chamber.
If Grine remains adamant, Ali suggests, "He's of no use. Let's tie him up and search the place ourselves."

After thirty minutes, Zelda successfully picks the lock. The chest contains 200 gp, four vials of antitoxin, and a small purple velvet purse containing 4 small, cloudy diamonds worth 300 gp each.
You note that there is an unexplored door on the south wall of the walkway. There is ladder descending down to the lower levels (used by the mongrelmen). There is a ladder going up in Grine's room and there is an unexplored door in the north wall of Vorkstag's room.
Govannon Gittins |
I figure while Zelda is picking the lock, the rest of us are searching. Govannon will start with the door in Vorkstag's room, then the ladder, then the south wall of the walkway - if that's cool with everyone!
Before Govannon proceeds, he stops near Caracoti and begs for some healing. "I'm awfully weak if we should encounter anything else. I hate to bother you, but it would save the wand. If you don't mind good sir." (down 37 - if you can get me close that's fine.)
He then checks the door for sound before opening it.

"Nice tat," she tells Aleks. If he looks strangely back at her, she motions to Aleks' hand. "Tattoo? It's nice." She looks at his hand, trying to figure out its meaning. "The Welcomer, eh?"
"One of these days I'll show you mine," she adds. "Not here though. It's too cold to take my clothes off." She lets that linger in the air.

Zelda finds no traps within the cabinet. Within the cabinet you find nearly a score of flayed skins. The skins hang within the cabinet like empty sacks of flesh. The skins appear to have come from actual people. One grotesque, deformed skin is of a 8-foot-tall mongrelman, made up of flesh, fur, and scales and covered with fungal boils and hideous puss-filled eruptions.
Through the trap door in Grine's room, Aleksander finds a ladder which ascends into a tower. Strange art and artifacts from distant lands fill this tower room. Another ladder rises upward to a trapdoor in the ceiling. From the shadows of the room three leathery things with bone and metal jaws lunge at Aleksander.
