Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Cough - he hasn't acted and is therefore still flatfooted and therefore Kaul should still get sneak attack damage - cough

1 person marked this as a favorite.

yeah Kaul- 2nd rule of sap club-remember sneak attack damage. 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
the Groom- Dusky is the first mate. i'll let you save your doom spell unless you wanted to move topside.

the Groom mutters something ominous as Kaul gives the first mate a second tap and Dusky goes down like a pole-axed beeve knocked out cold. Dibbets checks the forward door which is locked, but quickly spots a key from the ring on Dusky's belt that will fit.

Male Taldan Human Free-Hand Fighter/4

Jim moves to the stairs topside and waits for anyone who might come looking belowdecks. "If it's the other two flying pancakes making all the fuss, tell them Beldar sent us."

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Dibbs avails himself of the key and quickly moves to open the forrad hatch. To Kaul he mutters "Filch his pockets... might have summat worth thievin while we're ere"

Male Human Sorcerer 4

"If we want to we can truss him up and stow him somewhere out of the way". "I can make myself look just like him long enough to get us out of here, once we find what we're looking for".

Dingus casts Detect Magic, and begins to look around.

Couldn't find if Alter self also changes the clothing as well, so if necessary I'll take his gear as well.

"I can also make anything we need to cart off invisible as well for a brief period of time". "Prying eyes and all you know".

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

Sorry. Was reading that at midnight, and thought Dusky emerged on deck yelling. Instead the Groom will continue to think (quietly) on nasty beasties to unleash on those who steal from him, and occasionally chuckle.

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

Kaul pads down Dusky's prone form. The thug wears a big mako grin at his handiwork;

"Hur. That's how ye do it lads... Now Dusky boy what ye gots in yer pocketses..."

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Kaul's pat down uncovers the goods. Dusky has a finely made kukri and chain shirt, and 25 sails and a potion vial in his pouch. Dingus detects auras on the potion and kukri.

Dibbets opens the door to find stacks of crates in the shadowy forward hold. Several have been overturned near the door at the far end. Jim guards the stairs and hears a clamor arise on deck though no one has come down yet.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Hearing the commotion behind and above, Dibbs presses forward into the crates and towards the far door. He relies on his usually reasonable eyes to give him first warning of any danger...

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

Kaul gestures for anyone to help themselves to the gear, then as the sounds of commotion kicks off upstairs he sniffs the air and grins;

If no-one wants anything inparticular Kaul will bag the lot for divvying later... Am presuming that the clamour is little birdie come a' calling... :)

"Hur. Time tae crackle the Grackle... hur-hur-hur..."

Male Taldan Human Free-Hand Fighter/4

Without taking his eyes from the hatch, Jim nods towards where Dibbets has gone in. "Go ahead, Kaul. Shout if you need me, and I'll keep the rabble off your backsides."

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

Kauly nods, giving a cheery grin and lumbers towards Dibbs, his sap being replaced with a cruel edged boarding axe... Sniffing and licking the air as he goes

"Hoi Dibbs... What ye reckoning mate..."

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

the Groom will be manning the stairs down from the deck, as well, along with Jim. A hand on his rapier, he awaits trouble, but then has the thought that trouble might be awaiting them.

He gives a harsh whisper into the hold, "Iff'n they opened our crate, we might have some deaders down here...hold on..." The Groom reaches into his satchel and pulls free the skull residing there, "How's the weather eye, Mate?", and he looks to catch any glimpse of a red glow from the deep sockets as he points it toward the forward hold.

Invoke Detect Undead with the skull. 60' cone directed at the forward hull.

Jolly Jack grins back at the Groom with not a spark of glow about it. A pair of sailors appear at the hatch above Jim and look surprised to see him standing on the stairs.

Meanwhile in the forward hold, Kaul's axe flashes in the dim murk as he follows Dibbets forward. Suddenly there is a shriek like a wounded tea kettle and a pair of pale tentacled discs shoot up from the fallen crates toward the overhead spraying stink everywhere.

Dibbs and Kaul DC 10 fort save or sickened.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Not seeming to mind the sprayed stink falling upon him like rain Dibbs sniffs the air, then moves to his armpit and sniffs again before recoiling from his body odour as though hit by a hammer. To the discs of tentacles he cries out as calmly as he can manage "Oi, Beldar sent us tae find ye. He's all stinky and pale and flowery smellin like ye"

Male Taldan Human Free-Hand Fighter/4

The Taldan smiles disarmingly at the pair, sword held lazily at his side. "Your pardon, mates. We're dealing with a small matter of a couple of wayward flying pancakes, so best you keep topside whilst we get things sorted down here."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

the Groom stows the skull. "All clear on the deaders, although it smells like something died."

The flying flumphs hover replying in their strangely monotone voices, "Mebs. Beldar. Where is Beldar?"

Above, the sailors look at Jim like he's crazy, which might not be too far off and call into the hold. "Dusky. Where is Dusky?"

and Kaul fails his perception check for ooc notes again... DC 10 fort save, sir.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Dibbets keeps a non-threatening stance as he eyes the hold for their crate of dirt. "Beldar's back on dry land... we'll take ye to him soonish iffin ye like - but we gots tae get off the ship first."

At the sound of the voices at the stairs, Dibbs curses breathlessly and bids the floating tentacle sacks to keep quiet a moment.

Male Human Sorcerer 4
1 person marked this as a favorite.

Dingus steps into the light, and captures the two squabs attention, beginning to sinuously dance, and weave his hands while humming, and hissing under his breath. His tow hands acting out a battle between two vipers set to rhythm.

Hypnotism DC 15 Will save.

2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 HD affected

2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 Duration

Dingus tries to convince them both that it is necessary for them to go relieve themselves off the stern of the vessel.

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

lol - my bad

Fortitude DC10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Bugger

Kaul gags as he's washed in the stink of tentacle sack...

"Urrrr...."

It takes Dibbets just a moment to find the familiar crate of soft black rocks as Kaul blanches due to the foul odor. The pair of floating aliens whistle forlornly and warn, "Beware. The miscreant who abducted us ran through the door."

The sailors at the top of the stairs are mesmerized by Dingus' gyrations and feel the sudden urge to evacuate. They return to the top deck where there are shouts of anger and an explosion.

Sailor DC 12:
You feel a slight sway in the ship and a sense of movement as if the Angelina is no longer moored.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Dibbs looks to Kaul, but notices that he's more concerned with keeping his lunch down than anything else. Replying to the floating funbags "Aye, but he ken wait fer now... bum leg an all." taking a few moments to consider options as he looks around the hold...
Assuming only ways out are forrad and back up the stairs we came down?
...turning to the Groom while Kaul retches "Here's what we came fer, tha thievin chicken ken wait fer laters?"

Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

"Useful trick, mate. Though it's always best to relieve yourself off the bow, as the wind is usually blowing from somewhere astern."

dibbs- there's a door aft of the common room as well. likely just the galley though.

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

Drool and spittle dripping from his maw, Kaul dry wretches again then looks at Dibbs all quizzical like;

"Hur. What about Dusky Dibbs... Loose ends and all that mate..."

The thug's beady eyes glint in the gloom

Male Human Sorcerer 4

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Profession: Sailor

"Well we could Truss old Dusky up somehow, and move him aside". "As far as moving the booty out...They can't stop what they can't see". "I can make either the booty, or the booty and one of us invisible for a bit". "Or, I could make the booty invisible, levitate it out the hold, and have Dib's push it along for a bit with his wind thing... preferably not the stinking one". "Either way I think we'd better move fast". "Something is happening". "I think we've been cut loose from our mooring

Male Human Sorcerer 4

As the ship begins to lurch..."Maybe we could put ole Dusky behind that door for a while". "And Kaul, you might find something else you've been looking for back there as well".

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

the Groom is going to go up the stairs enough to put his head above deck to see what the yelling and explosions are about.

Perception -> 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

A slighty crazed look plays across Kaul's jigsaw features as he cradles Dusky's throat, looking for all the world like he's about to give the other half-orc a very close shave...

"Eh? Summit else! Or someone... Hur-hur-half...hur... pinch... hur..."

The thug wipes spittle from his jaw, gags but holds down the remnants of his last meal, then rises and makes for the aft, axe in hand;

"Fee Fye Flum Flan! I smell the fear o' a half-a-man!"

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

The sweet smell of vengeance lures Kaul through the aftward door where he finds a cramped room with a long worktable (bolted to the floor), beneath which are tied several boxes of pots and pans, large stirring spoons, and not a few different kinds of knives and cleavers.

In the opposite corner sits a small coal box and a steel stove for heating rocks. A few large granite rocks sit on the floor next to a big iron pot holding a long pair of tongs. A barrel of seawater is lashed to a nearby strut and tied to it is a bucket with the word “Fire” painted on it. Unfortunately, not a soul, half-man sized or full is to be found.

the Groom pokes his head topside to find...chaos! The masts and sails are aflame and the ship is drifting toward the dangerous rocks near the mouth of the harbor. The crew however, are paying no heed as they battle among themselves.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Dibbs looks to grab an end of their box o' dirt and keeps the tentacled funbags close and under a beady eye as he waits for reports from forward and aft.

I don't think anyone has gone further forward. looks like:
II galley-common room- hold-x? >
so one more very small room at the bow that hasn't been checked.

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

With a forlorn look upon his scarred face, Kaul lumbers back towards Dibbs, stopping briefly to pocket a few choice knives and the heaviest cleaver;

Never 'ave 'nough knives...

"Sorry mate... got distracted like... Let me lug the box..."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

the Groom ducks back down. "Ho Jimmers and Dingus. Looks like Dusky's mates have made their move. The crews battling, the sails are afire, and the ship is drifting toward rocks. Time to round up our cargo and make our escape."

Male Taldan Human Free-Hand Fighter/4

"Sounds to be a fine plan, though I like the thought of bringing in the Grackle on top of that. Where are Dibbets and Kaul?"

Profession (Sailor) check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

"Might be a good thing we brought our own boat; Angelina's come untethered."

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

"Bird inna hand mateys" turning to the floating flumphs "Foller us iffin ye wants tae see Beldar agin" before making to stump after Jimmer and Groom up the way they came down. "Aye Jim... less jus hope she's still there when we get tae her."

Kaul grabs the box o' rocks and the flumphs puff along behind as everyone heads into the free-for-all on the top deck. The sails burn merrily in the gusting wind above the melee. It looks like the mutineers have the upper hand as they were the first armed with cutlasses and bows by Dusky.

The remaining loyal crew have gathered around the captain and defend themselves with knives and clubs. They are outnumbered eight to four as another falls to the mutineers.

Male Taldan Human Free-Hand Fighter/4

"I'll be along sharpish, mates. Just a few things to tidy up before we leave." With a grin, Jim heads for the melee.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Dibbs takes a look at the melee ongoing and mulls it for a few moments before Jim joins. Spitting on deck before shrugging his shoulders, Dibbets turns to Kaul "Heads need crackin... be a shame tae not join in like." and pauses a few moments to let the longshanks get a wee head start before starting in after.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Besmara 4

the Groom marks each mutineer in his mind as he steps forward. His ire now truly raised, "Thieves and Mutineers...how special. Yeah, the loading will go easier once we clear the deck of this scum." He clenches his fist and motes of green-blue phosphorescent fire drips from between his fingers.

Male Half Orc Rogue (Thug) 4

Kaul nods at Dibb's canny advice, and with a trademark mako grin bulls upwards towards the chaos;

Kaul moves on deck, axe ready for a choppin...

shet. lost my post :(

Three mutineers rush toward the interlopers, Jim easily parries a cutlass, but the next gets a lucky strike. Jim- 6 slash Kaul easily steps aside dodging another slash.

The crew rally up front as the captain takes out a traitor and another mutineer falls to the man at the captain's side.

the Groom steps forward, "Listen up you bilge-sucking, fish-#*cking, sons of mongers. You thought to steal from a pirate? You thought to overthrow your Captain? Besmara is coming for you, but she will only show you the brig for eternity..or until she feds you to her deep sea pets. Tell her the Groom sends ya." The flames in his hand spread to his eyes as he curses the mutineers. Soon those marked by him start to smoulder, before ghostly flames erupt on them as well.

Male Halfling Oracle of Gozreh 4

Nice Groom! Very nice indeed.

Dibbets hears the Groom's words tangibly scream past his ear to impact upon the poor swabs who likely never felt it coming. His ear canal is left raw, sensitive and burning with pain... and he mentally slots the effect under an evergrowing list in his head of Reasons to not piss off Ol' Groomy.

Dingus's Eyes roll back in his head, and he begins a dreadful chant, as he begins to rise above the deck of the ship holding onto the mast with one hand as he goes.

Levitate, and Intimidate to assist

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 Intimidate.

The effect is somewhat spoiled by the wind lifting his robes above his head exposing his serpent and eclipse for all to see.

Dingus steps up and raps a sailor smartly on the shin. In a twist however, sticks and stones in this case are no match for the Groom's words as he spits out a violent reproach which leaves half the mutineers staggered and the other half burning.

Jim quickly finishes off the man that stabbed him with half a foot of rapier through the sternum and Kaul steps past his mates to end the misery of a flaming screaming sailor. Few are left alive to note Dingus' bare ass floating over the deck.

The odds have improved significantly for the captain and his men who now outnumber the mutineers five to two, but before they can make good on their advantage, the ship strikes rock with a crashing lurch that shifts the deck knocking several sailors over and the captain and the man at his side overboard.
