Oh and the pickled pipsqueak is back fer action!
Cap'n Voodoo |
Kaul shifts over teh muck comvered mess left by the last deader to receive Bess's affections and hack into the next one with a spray of jelled blood and bore worms. The impact knocks the climbing sailor back to the stone floor below where he staggers back to his feet.
Above him the two remaining anaerobic assassins continue the assault. Kaul fends off a newcomer, but the Groom takes yet another mushy slam.

You hear an ominous croaking laugh as the tall Ulfman captain clambers up on to the balcony behind you. Dusting off his rotted finery he chokes up on his heavy boarding axe and glares at you with baleful glowing red eyes. In a gargling voice he comments, "Vant it done rright, do it yazelv."

Seeing the crusty Kaptain is coming hither, Kaul continues his gleeful dance with the deaders and sidesteps with a hacking slash of his cleaver;
"Hur...hur... Don worry Dibbs hur-hur... Bessie'll snicker-snack on em afore they snack on ye!"
Kauly takes 5ft. Step to F16 and attacks E16

Kaul steps to the side and partly disembowels a slime covered sailor. The sailor retaliates with a swipe at the hackingest half-orc, but Kaul shrugs it off. Below, the fallen drowned one struggles to climb back up while its mate tries to finish the Groom, but fails.
The corpse captain strides forward in squishing boots leaving a trail of bilge tainted salt water. With a low howl, he swings his heavy boarding axe overhead right at Kaul's tenderest spot, Bess! With a horrifying crack, the big blade is bent and nearly sundered in two. Bess gains the broken condition.

Tears welling in his beady eyes, Kaul reverently drops the bent curves of Bess and reaches back for her bulky sister;
Drop Bess and draw Mara

Dingus blasts the deprived privateer with day-glo snakes as Mara avenges her sister blade with a HORRIBLE vengeance. Jim continues to fight the captain's gruesome crew, but is on the defensive as the Groom bends to grab his mace catching a sodden slam on his buckler.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Ahhhh... now I getcha... Apologies lads am full up with the cold and brain feels like cotton wool... Cheers Jimmer and Dibbs - keep the Kauly on track... lol

Cap'n Voodoo |
Kaul- I'm still not sure what yer rolling, but I suspect it's a bit of Tum-Bobo's snakeweed. anyway, Onward!
Kaul cleaves through the captain's rotted face and into his chest. Now jawless, the captain waves a tongue as wormy as bad sea biscuits through black gums and a sea stained beard a-crawl with tiny yellow crabs. Baleful red eyes gleaming, the captain's heavy axe swings back and hacks into Kaul, but the blow lacks conviction and is turned aside by coconut backed chain mail.
Half-Hitch's high pitched whimpering is heard somewhere in the distance.

Cap'n Voodoo |
Kaul follows up with another powerful blow and the teetering captain collapses in a pile of rags, sea muck and bones. The last two dead sailors fall as well, their souls released from the pirate hunter's geas.
"Unlike a wizard or a cleric, a sorcerer need not prepare her spells in advance. She can cast any spell she knows at any time, assuming she has not yet used up her spells per day for that spell level."
Dibbets |
Dibbets give the scarred and snotty half-orc a thunderous slap on the arse "Thassa way Kauly! Send tha feckers back tae sleep quick an brutal like." moving past the angry one with a broken mistress to poke the remains of the Northerner with ol faithful just to make sure. Assuming that they seem really really re-dead Dibbs will get to giving the body a quick once over fer loot.
Perception: taking 10 for 19
Cap'n Voodoo |
The crew don't appear to have anything of value and even Dibbets thinks twice about poking through the soupy mess of vermin that remain behind. The captain however has some glittering spoils. Beneath the muck, several gold chains decorate his neck and a few rings are found upon his finger bones.
He wears an interesting cloak of what appears to be shark hide and of course there is his axe. The over-sized boarding axe is an incredibly heavy and dense metal with runes carved in the haft just below the head.
James "Madman Jim" Patterson |
Jim kicks the corpses over the edge, just to be sure they won't come creeping back, then leans around the corner over the gap he so recently plummeted down. "You can come out now, we got 'em sorted. Well, Kaul did most of the heavy lifting. Say, either of you know anything about fixing up weapons?"
Dibbets |
Dibbets casts Gozreh's jaundiced eye over the putrescent bounty from the captain. Detect Magic
If anything magical is found he'll pass it off to Dingus "Any chance ye ken make head nor tail of it?"
To Jim he replies "Nothin specific, Gozreh's spit n polish might be worth a looksee... but I cannae guarantee anythin."
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul shakes his head at Jimmer's suggestion, as looks down at the rent blade;
"She died in battle Jimmer... don't want her coming back all warped and wrong like... the bastichs we just ended... nah..."
The thug's eyes get all dewy again and he sniffles back the emotion...
"Could we bury 'er like?? Good an proper... maybe's Dibbs an Groomy would say a few words... (sniff)... I'd like that...aye... she often talked 'bout a decent death an all...(sniff)"
James "Madman Jim" Patterson |
Heh. Maybe he does sleep with her.
Jim fights to keep his face calm. "No, mate. She doesn't belong in the dirt. Give her to the sea, and let the Pirate Queen fix her up and hold her for you."
the Groom |
the Groom reaches out and lays a palm on the flat of the axe. He mutters a curse and a sizzling noise comes from beneath his hand. He pulls it away to show Besmara's brand upon it. He does the same with the haft. "There. She will know these for her own and that it helped send a sailor to find her deck."
Dingus Mack |
Dingus watches the display with a look of dread. Why do I feel like Bess is going to somehow end up in one our gullets before all is said and done.
Dingus looks at the objects as they are presented as magical.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Appraise with Detect Magic

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Spellcraft
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Brightening up Kaul hefts the Kaptain's axe in his paws, testing the weight and its stroke...
"Reckon we should bind Bess and Mara together... that way they can keep each other company like... Sea's cold and lonely on yer own..."
The thug wipes the last of his sniffles as he binds his weapons together, kissing both tenderly afore he lays them down. He pats them and looks up at The Groom;
"Will you take em to the sea Groomy... dunno if I hav the 'eart to..."
the Groom |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Well...I will at least wait till dawn....not sure how friendly the sea is tonight....and ya best hope these blades don't mention the nut ya now play with, instead of giving your Queen her proper respect. That is something ya will need to work before her pressgang catches up with ya...but good job taking down that bag of sog." He gives his unsettling smile at the end to lighten his sermon.
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dingus assays the assorted bling to a value of 1500 gold. One of the rings has an aura of faint protection, but he can't get a definite reading on it. The cloak is actually skate skin and has an aura of moderate transmutation. The heavy boarding axe is magical as well and made of a metal he's never seen before.
the Groom |
Fort save -> 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Ha! Can't rattle me, you Jamaican Voodoo Hoodoo.
"I can't hear ya, Little Idol. Best not be there when Kaul finds himself on the Seawraith. My Queen will crack ya on her knee, spice ya with rum, and drink ya dry, then see your husk worn as a brazzere on a sea hag."
Dibbets |
Giving Kaul a modicum of privacy with his dearly departed Dibbs offers "She were good tae ye matey..." before moving off after the diminutive cowardly Half-Hitch with a dark disposition.
Is the collapsed balcony still complete enough to traverse with a take 10 for 18 Climb check?
Dibbs makes to find both Janore and HH, the former to inform of their victory... the latter to have more precise words with.
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dibbets carefully navigates the wreckage of the balcony to reach the armory. Inside he finds Janore and Half-Hitch huddled in the corner. Upon spotting Dibbets' grim expression, HH quickly regains his composure.
"What?! I got cut off when the balcony fell and besides someone had to look after the lady."
Dibbets |
Dibbets stands and delivers from about ten feet away "Yer a feckin liar an coward both.... but ye did just enough tae not make me bleed ye... jus don't press it. Up, out an help wi' cleanup." turning to Janore "Deaders are dead agin. What now?" wagering that the woman with poor taste in bedmates is likely to give a useless answer... but thinking it still worth the asking.
