"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Round 2
Kaul see's his opportunity as the once-Lanteri's escape is stymied by Jimmer.
"Stay an' play! Don't run away! Hur-hur-hur!"
The brute rushes forward, hacking wildly...
Melee Power Attack: Lopper (+1 Keen Adamantine Boarding Ax): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14
Power Attack Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
If flank is in play and that crappy roll is lucky enough to hit, then add Sneak Attack as well 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5, 4) + 1 = 11
If flank is in play and that crappy roll missed... then invoke Assault Leader ability - allowing Jimmer to immediately attack her as a swift action :)

Jim went to some trouble to set up the flank, so just in case:
Assault leader attack, incl. flank: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 + 2 = 29
Damage, incl. shock: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (2) = 14
Attack, incl. flank: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 = 21
Iterative attack, incl. flank: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18
Damage #1, if applicable, incl. shock: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (3) = 15
Damage #2, if applicable, incl. shock: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + (3) = 14
"Much obliged for the setup, mate!" Jim stabs at Redclaw repeatedly.

A little dark cloud appears where Dibbets was dangling from Anatoly's grasp and floats free. Dingus releases another burst of swarming force snakes. Through his blood haze, Kaul mistakes The Redclaw for Lanteri. She easily dodges his befuddled strike, but is set up for Jim to lay into her with flashing and crackling blade. She falls before the treacherous onslaught. Belinna and Zossrov step back with looks of awe at their officers' ferocity.
With the cloud in retreat, the pale thing that was once Anatoly steps from the table and grabs Dingus. Dingus-4 slam, grappled At that moment, a loud crack is heard and the object of Kaul's ire appears in a cloud of smoke through the open door. In the confusion, it takes Jim a heartbeat or two to notice that he's been shot in the back by Lanteri. Jim-25 piercing

"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul lumbers toward where Jimmer stands, attempting to put himself into the melee-mix.
"Let Ol' Kauly handle this mate!"
Enough room for Kaul to squeeze past or is a Acro check required? If its the latter: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

The cloud floats toward Jim as Dingus wiggles helplessly in Sticky-toly's grasp. Lanteri tries to hold the door, but it is sized too wide for her to totally block it and Kaul powers through. She slashes at him with her blade, but it grates off his chainshirt.
As ordered, Zossrov and Belinna go to Dingus' aid. Zossrov strikes hard, but there is no evidence of damage as his cutlass sticks to the gooey wiry flesh. Belinna does no better though she retains her blade.

James "Madman Jim" Patterson |
Jim closes with Lanteri, trying to keep her between him and Kaul, before going for the disarm.
Disarm attempt (add +2 for flanking, if applicable): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

Free of the immediate threat, Dibbets reforms (Standard Action?) with a scowl as he see's Anti-toly still crushing his snake-hipped shipmate, then looks toward the battered Jimmer forlornly:
"Feckin' feck-feck! Kauly drop the b1tch sharpish!"
The grubby oracle weighs the situation, then nods to himself;
"Time to end this..."
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Heeding his wee pal's words Kaul flashes a feral grin hacks at Lanteri;
Flanking Melee Power Attack: Lopper (+1 Keen Adamantine Boarding Ax): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 18
Power Attack Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Sneak Attack Damage (For Flank): 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) + 1 = 12
Dibbets |
Wispishly cursing in words unheard Dibbets decries his flinch towards the intangible, having though to hold his trump just in case he needed to get out of dodge sharpish... but the die is cast and there ain't naught fer it. Briefly contemplating attempting to re-incorporate with his foot firmly lodged up Lanteri's arsecrack... he reconsiders and tempts not the limits of the seaweeded kilts talent.
Instead he comes to on the side like and within spittin distance o' Jimmer (in case of a need to prop up the ladychaser), but settling eyes instead on Anatoly. Reaching through the rubbered haze of sh1te that's covered him and hoping beyond hope that there's something still sane-ish held within he growls "Stop it ye bastard!"
Casting forbid action to have him cease attacking Dingus. Grappling requiring an attack roll to maintain it should fall within the spell. Will DC 15 to negate (unless he's been turned mindless).

Stab damage: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (5) = 17
Despite his wounds, Jim stabs twice at the false Lanteri, then prepares to block her next attack. "Keep working on 'Toly, you two!"
Opportune parry and riposte, if applicable: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
So if Lanteri hits Jim, Jim burns a panache point and blocks her attack if she failed to roll less than 32 on her attack. Since at that point Jim will have one panache point left, he'll be able to riposte and roll a free attack on her.

Miraculously, Dingus breaks free! He rushes up to the door to help against Lanteri while Dibbets hexes the transformed Anatoly again, but this time the shambling creature shakes it off. Zossrov and Belinna lay into the thing, managing to cause minor harm and both lose their weapons in the bargain this time. Jim interposes himself and more importantly, his crackling blade, just before the monster gets grabby with Belinna. Jim Ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 The blade twists in his hand as it is caught in the goo, but Jim drags it out.
Meanwhile in the other room, which Kaul barely registers contains a single great machine that looks like a great piano or harmonium adorned with countless crystalline keys made of amethyst and spans the full length of the southern wall, the other door suddenly slides open revealing a small floorless chamber with another beam of light the runs from ceiling down into the pit. Kaul senses motion and the eddies of receding blood scent that reach his flat brutal nose reveal that Lanteri has leapt into the shaft of light and descended away from the crew.

Jim follows up his first attack, trying to take 'Toly down with a minimum of effort. He's going to attack once, and if that doesn't do the trick he'll attack again. He can call his blade once per round, so even if the 12 fails to save vs. sticking he can attack again.

Jim turns to find Dibbets slumped down to his knees with eyes fixed to Anatoly's crumpled and pale form. He doesn't react or respond initially, just staring with empty eyes lifeless and devoid of hope. It takes a span of a few seconds before the halfling hangs his head and painfully forces himself back up to his feet... favoring his less wasted leg heavily. Wordless and without looking he backhands Jim on the way past, delivering a jolt of bracing vigor...

...as he moves over to Redclaw's corpse. Without any ceremony he lines up a kick and thumps home impotent rage into the b1tch's midsection.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Equally belligerent Kaul comes stomping back into the room. The brutes beady eyes flicker across the corpses and Dibbs;
"Hur. Think she's dead matey... Hur..."
For a second the thug weighs a potential spot of gallows humour, but seeing the bubbling rage in the oracle he thinks twice of it;
...but best make sure eh?"
Kaul looks to the rest of the crew and cranks his no-neck toward whence he came;
'Lanteri went down one o' them light magic things... An there's a piano-machine through there too... Don't play music tho... Hur."
Dibbets |
"Aye... dead..." Dibbs parrots tonelessly at Kaul's words. With a sigh he ferrets through Red Claw's belongings before adding "Best we take tha b1tch's arm eh?" before standing up and looking to where Lanteri departed, raising an eyebrow t'wards Madman "Best be gettin on iffin ye wants tae end it."
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul looks to his own hook paw, then back to the mechanical claw with a enthusiastic grin.
The thug measures up Red Claw's arm as Dibbs rifles through her gear, then putting axe to fleshy anchor he hacks away metal from meat.
"Hur... Now we's armed an' ready hur-hur..."
Cap'n Voodoo |
With the historic captain disarmed, literally and figuratively, the crew stow the +1 cold iron cutlass and mechanical claw, the only items of value on the corpse. Zossrov asks if he might make use of the magical sword. Kaul thinks that the clever elf back in Freeport that did his grillwork might attach the claw as well. Evidentally, Captain Redclaw has not retained her legendary treasure on her person, perhaps it yet lies ahead.
The crew progresses to the weird music room and find that the door to the floorless closet-like chamber where Lanteri seems to have gone remains open. A column of light cuts through it vertically.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul looks at the claw, then his own hook paw with a bemused expression.
As Jimmer's insinuation sinks in the thug scowls and grumbles a retort;
"What you think Ol' Kauly has a screw loose an' easy swayed eh? The claw ain't no Tum... chum.."
The thug picks up the claw and presses it to one battered ear, then shrugs his shoulders with a grin:
"'B'sides... It don't speak. All quiet like see? Not chatty with Kauly like Lopps is! Hur!"
