Dingus Mack |
"Aye Captain".
Dingus sizzles the surface with a Forked Tongue spell, making sure nobody is standing in anything connected to the surface first.
"Stand back, and watch your toes".
6d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 5, 2, 3) + 6 = 24 Forked Tongue Spell
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul scowls at the oily pool;
"Hur. Any takers fer divin' in after 'im? Otherwise let's move on eh?"
The thug shifts towards the door, but belays entering until the rest of the group give up the ghost.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul looks incredulous at first, then with a grunting sigh and shake of his no-neck noggin, lumbers to were his wee mate is fishing;
"Hur. Dibbs. Let me. I'll use me hook paw..."
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dibbets and Kaul attempt a little fishing, but the bait is supposed to be ON the hook.

grabby
A pale stringy figure breaks the surface of the black pool with a splash grabbing for the proffered leg o' lame!
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dibbs vs SR: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; Dings vs SR: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The water churns as a series of electrical bolts shoot through the pathetic villain. A moment later the gooey grotesque floats dead in the water. On the other end of the room beyond the bridge, a pale naked form crawls dripping out of the black pool. It looks kinda like Anatoly, but his skin is soggy and hangs loose on his frame as he exits through the far door without a look back.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul eyes Soggi-Toli shuffle off then casts a baleful gaze at the bridge once more;
"Hur. Good as dead. An I ain't convinced that bridge ain't an illushion or summit. Either that or its trapped like... Anyone else shed some light on it afore I try leapin' a'cross..."
Perception on Bridge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Dibbets |
Sorry for the quiescence - work collywobbles continue... have two more months of the rotation gig then ???...
Seeing the way that Kaul's eyeing up the leap Dibbs growls in dissent "Dinnae een think o' it matey... taint nei feckin way me leg's lettin me hoof more'n a foot afore I fall on me arse."
Rubbing his neck as tired and sore eyes betray some of the intense feeling of Anatoly's seeming loss "Best bet's Dingus... I could mist o'er, but nei way back like... Snakey could put us inna air an over wi'out touchin doon."
James "Madman Jim" Patterson |
"I don't know, mate--that's using up a lot of his mojo on the move. Might be better if me and Kaul jump over and tie off a rope, so when Dingus levitates the rest of you there's something to pull yourself with."
Dingus Mack |
"My lifting spell last's quite a while. Let's just cast it on Kaul, and he can carry me across on his back... or like a little baby. Then we'll affix a rope to my anchoring rod, and Kaul can carry everyone else across using the rope for safety, and propulsion".
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dingus' plan sounds quite reasonable for a change and as soon as the spell is cast on Kaul, the odd sorcerer leaps into his arms. Only to be shooed away by Jim who insists on going first. Everyone is safely carried over the foul pool and its wormy residents by thugondola in no time and they stand before the next strange portal. A small puddle of dark water remains where what was once Anatoly crawled from the pool and through the portal.
Cap'n Voodoo |
The large door slides aside at a touch revealing another irregular rounded room that narrows to the left and another door. The room is filled with more weird equipment. There is no arching electricity and crystals here though. Instead, your attention is drawn to a long metal table where the pale bloated half-orc lies. Arching over him is a machine that looks like a strange sort of metal snake. This creature has three metal tails that form a tripod at its base. a jointed cylindrical body is covered with strange tubes and wires before finally reaching the head almost 10 feet above the ground. The head is more insect-like with one ruby eye and two scything talons like mandibles that hold the unresistant Anatoly pressed against the table as strange tubes pass liquids in and out.
A female figure steps out from behind a cabinet. Half expecting another ambush by Lanteri, it takes a moment to register that this is definitely not her. This woman's pallid flesh contrasts with the black metal embedded in her face and the parts of her torso and leg exposed by the ragged remains of worn pirate captain's garb. Even more arresting however, is the oversized red metal claw bolted where her lower arm would be- could this be the legendary Jemma Redclaw?
Dibbets |
Dibbets contemplates making the passage across the raised rope with the crackling trident of electricity intact, before realising that it would likely prove too much a hindrance and casting it aside. He sets grim tone to jaw and disposition as the crew shuffles further forward towards Anatoly's destination.
Breaching past the door he spies the unnatural collection of liquids and tubes being forced upon his friend and snaps. "Hey, feckin get that sh1te off him! Piece o' feckin crap." half shuffling forward and seeming to not really notice the arrival of not-Lanteri upon the flank.
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Kaul looks to the bound 'Toly, then processes the words he hears as the fluids pump in and out of the swab.
Feck this. We ain't for that fate.
The brute scowls, snaps from his thoughts and interposes himself betwixt his wee mate and the clawoman.
"Hur... How bout I make you better... but you ain't fer surviving what Ol' Kauly has in store!"
Kaul brandishes Lopper and his hook paw in a mock mechanical salute.

The brackish and sun blasted halfling turns to not-Lanteri and weathers a hard edged steelish stare at her... likely all the lesser considering the one delivering it, but the intent is clear nonetheless. He growls "He ain't feckin yours b1tch... he's crew, his name's 'Toly and by all the tempest at the Skylord's command iffin ye dinnae stop yer feckin sh1te now... I'll be carvin me initials intae yer liver"
Dibbs is ready to throw down with her... though he won't be capable of much throwing himself :P
"Keelhaul" Kaul |
Sorry was waiting for Jimmer or Ding to weigh in, and see the reaction before Kaul gets loppy...
The thug leers back at the mechanicaptain's assessment of his hook paw;
"Hur... Ye summed up our crew there darlin'... Crude but effective is the right o' it..."
As Dibbs' growls and snaps, the thug again taps hook against axe;
"Ye heard the wee man. Cease yer work on 'Toly. Then maybe's we can dance... Claw to paw hur-hur-hur..."

Dingus seems fascinated by the process...
"What do you mean making him better? How will he be better? Did you get his permission for this? What does that do? What happens if I push this?
Cap'n Voodoo |
As the crew advance on her, the strange pirate from the past steps back toward the door in the corner. Dingus' fidgeting with the machine suddenly causes a loud hissing sound as the malevolent tubes of fluid suddenly drain and disengage from the inert form of Anatoly. The clawed captain takes advantage of the distraction to spring into action!

Round 1
Kaul grins at the deep cut across his chin, knowing lower would have opened his throat;
"Hur.-hur-hur.. Our turn now..."
The brute shifts and brings Lopper arching venomously toward the mekaptain's crown;
Melee Power Attack: Lopper (+1 Keen Adamantine Boarding Ax) : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Power Attack Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Melee Power Attack Critical Threat: Lopper (+1 Keen Adamantine Boarding Ax) : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Bah... Thinking no :(

Jim follows Kaul into battle, trying to set up a flank, and neatly levers the scimitar from Jemma's hand (I think). "Scarcely sporting, there."
Disarm attempt (add +2 if flanking, I think): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Cap'n Voodoo |
Dibbets is uncertain what condition Anatoly's condition is in. He is even paler than usual and his skin looks waterlogged and loose. He is still alive and unmarked other than a speckling of small puncture wounds. Dingus sends a mass of hissing missiles at your foe and Jemma Redclaw staggers back. Before she can recover, Lopper cuts into a metal plate bolted to her body and reveals that there is still plenty of blood to spill despite the metal machinery affixed. With a flick of his sword, Jim sends her cold iron scimitar clanging to the floor.
Tight quarters, Jim. You'll need an acrobatics to get behind her.

Jim does a casual flip off the wall, ending up behind the revenant captain with insouciant ease. He gives Belinna and Zossrov a grin, then focuses his attention on Redclaw.
Cap'n Voodoo |
Belinna smiles brightly at Jim as she and Zossrov join Kaul in the assault. It's a bit too tight for the navigator to get in the melee however, and the heavy metal claw deflects Zossrov's blade.
"Kill Them! Kill Them all!" the Engineer's menacing voice comes from a strange little box on the wall near the door behind Jim. The door slides open and Redclaw makes a dodge for it, but is blocked by Jim. Cursing, she makes use of her metal claw to ward off the assault.
Anatoly moans from the table where he lies. His eyes flutter open and then his hand jerks toward the halfling at his side grabbing him by the throat and lifting him off the ground!
