I must admit that it brings a smile to my face looking at who has suffered insanity damage from that our first encounter with a being from beyond.
The fairer and more balanced Jim and Dingus have suffered shock and horror.
The more twisted intellects among us (Kaul, Groom and Dibbs), have just shrugged their shoulders and kept on keeping on :)
I do think that the slightly unhinged are more likely to take mind crippling horror in stride though.
Indeed dear Cap'n - I mean after all if Dibbs woke up in bed next to the porcuswine of cthulu... he'd probably pause a couple of moments before shrugging "Well, ain't the ugliest thing I've woken up next tae" then roll over and go back to sleep :P

just a note that I'm moving...again. twice in a month- yeaaaa! and i'll likely be couchsurfing for the next few weeks so posting may be spotty.
Enjoy the surfing of couches Cap'n! - I'll be heading off on vacation down to Australia on 14th December through to 10th Jan, so my own posting rate will be somewhat lessened also.

Nicely done. I was a bit worried about a split party each facing a tough opponent. I had expected the Groom to wash Not-Hitch over the balcony with his Surge. That would have made the encounter a bit easier, but everyone is still alive, if barely, so all's well that ends well.
Accent on the barely. I should've tried to retreat right away. Now all we have to do is get healed up, find out what variety of demon worship got these folks kicked out of Cheliax, and rescue Half-Hitch before he gets sacrificed. (Or make a creditable enough effort at it that Finn won't have us flayed alive when we get back....)
must have missed the balcony in the description or I might have considered that as an option. But he had Dingus by the throat for most of the time too...oh well.

On the topic of beards, mine isn't anywhere near epic...it's more like an E6 beard these days ;-). I used to wear it a bit bushier, but my daughter was strong and grabby pretty-much from birth. This made for a powerful incentive to keep it too short to get a handful of.
My beard goes from very short to shaggy depending on how long since I last trimmed it. I got the grabbiness as well, but my beard was never epic enough to really have it worry me too much.
Ship's only as good as her crew. I'm having a fine time.
I've got just a patch of scruff on my chin. not nearly an epic beard.
Agreed its been a damn fun voyage so far lads, here's to many more and here's to the skipper! :)
My beard is pretty big - trimmed it back in a moment of madness some 6 weeks back, never again. Mourned my lumberjack beard and thus it has returned lol.

I feel inadequate with only a narrow soul patch, and mustache...as well as a shaved head. But I make up for it with the fact that the color is gray/white... unfortunately that is the natural color.
I was substitute teaching in a school last week that had a campaign called Beards against Bullies. Loads of posters with bearded celebrities and anti-bully slogans. It was pretty funny- Kenny Rodgers, Big Foot, Chuck Norris, and Castro all united at last!
I had a thought about Insanity Points- i don't have my FP Companion with me, but I think they helped with occult knowledge checks. I think i'll count them as Temp ranks in Know checks for dungeoneering (aberrations, slimes, drippy stuff) and other unnatural, forbidden lore. so there's some slight benefit if you aren't a spell caster.

Unfortunately, I was thinking in terms of fooling humans, which didn't seem any too likely. ("OK, we're expecting a middle-aged couple and their daughter. We get three guys, and two of 'em jingle when they walk. Nope, nothing suspicious here.")

Inquisitor has been fun with the Groom, and I guess I don't miss the reduced casting since we are all spontaneous casting in this campaign. I play another inquisitor, an unwitting avatar of Cayden Cailean, in a Carrion Crown PbP with an alchemist, and I also play an archivist bard in a Second Darkness PbP with a witch and a multiclass cleric. Both a load of fun, and similar situations with no class outshining the others as casters.
Well I woulda worn a skeeter suit, but there weren't any midgets about :P

Speaking o' crazy - thanks for manking this year one to remember lads. Been an absolute blast sailing the seas with ye all, and looking forward to more insanity in 2012.
