Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

@Nera, I understand what daze does.;) I also should have a surprise round which me and Dolelan are able to move in. If I my bluff doesn't work that way I'll 5ft step and sleight of hand then move. If Rosh lets me know, I'll roll for save if I need too. But seeing I go before you in the round I don't believe I'll need too.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Ah I wasn't aware that a surprise round was initiated? I haven't ever seen bluff be used to initiate a free surprise round. I'm not sure how this is being parsed out either way, but I was assuming we where simply waiting on a will save from Charon based on.....

Roshan wrote:
Waiting for Charon to roll her will save for the daze

....If Nera doesn't get to use daze or Charon escapes that's fine and all, but I figure throwing up a roll for the daze is probably prudent in case Rosh is still waiting on it or something simply to not slow things down.

Stealth is part of a move action. I'm only getting 30ft away anyhow.
@rosh let me know what's closes area I could run with cover. I'll assume I we back to area I came from. Or if I can use the crowd.

Indeed, roll a save for the daze. I'd say that it depends on the circumstances for a surprise round, if you were all in a tavern and an inconspicuous person walks up initiating combat (or something similar) it would be a surprise round. But at this time everyone on edge and while they have no clue that it's you at this point you're still a strange woman that no one is visibly familiar with who's stumbled into their midst.

And just fyi, you can't 5 ft step and move so that movement to escape is going to provoke from those who rolled above your initiative(which at this point is only Legiald), unless you use acrobatics to kind of skirt them. However if you do manage to flee it should be easy enough to lose them in the city with your skills, unless of course they have some way to track you.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

If bluff/feint wouldn't work that way, I'd much rather take a move action in it's place. Which I didn't because of taking the bluff action. Just on a side note, I'll toss up a roll for daze but as noted. I'd much rather have move action if a group of people standing around causally talking wouldn't be surprised by a random person walked up(in stealth) and then ran into someone.
Will save:(if needed)1d20 ⇒ 12

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

I did tumble but Aoo are fine if needed.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens 20/Horizon Walker 10

Just to clear up that whole rounds thing, we weren't in rounds. There was nothing for Dolelan to notice until she tried to slip something into Legiald's pocket. It's not that we were in surprise round, we weren't in rounds at all.

Initiative:

Legiald - 23
Charon - 15
Near - 9

Dolelan points out this interesting fact that a woman has been caught with her hands in the cookie jar so to speak. She quickly proclaims that her intent was to distract you. As she moves to escape Legiald moves in and grabs both her arms, holding her in place. She wriggles and struggles against Legiald's grasp and manages to twist away, making her way to the edge of the square about to round the corner of a building bordering the market when Nera throws out a bit of magic and she seems to pause in place, blinking as if confused.

Round 2

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Sounds good. Assuming I'm dazed for round so I take no action this round.

Charon mumbles to herself, confused and seemingly dazed.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5
Charon Warblade wrote:

I'm pretty sure unarmed doesn't threaten (Unless it's a monk/monster), so you wouldn't need to tumble anyways since nobody but Nera drew their weapon and you wouldn't be near her when she did anyways.

Anyways Daze lasts until Nera's turn on round 2 so that put's charon out of commission for a whole round so I guess Legiald do both round 2 and 3 actions, Dolelan as well if he rolls high on initiative. I'll toss up Nera's actions after I see what happens in round.

After connecting with the spell Nera calls out to the woman pleading, "Please miss don't run you have nothing to fear......well from me at least.... but I assure you I'll make sure no harm comes to befall you. I'd just like to know who put you up to this...they wouldn't happen to covered in shady slime and have numerous tentacles would they?" Nera nods to Legiald "That spell should make capturing out little thief easier...... fancy finding out what she took?" she says curiously.

The stranger's claim matters little to him at this point. Not while he was trying to stop her. Had Legiald a weapon in hand, the woman may have exposed herself to attack, but he only lunges uselessly after her. With her rapid tumbling slowing her down, Legiald is able to catch up to her left side despite being in armor. He pulls his left arm in front of her, sweeping his right foot to her legs in an attempt to bring her to the ground.

Trip: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 (success) *I did not add +3 to my grapple for buffs.

The ruthless maneuver flings Charon onto her back where she stood. The monk-like motion leaves Legiald standing over her, preparing to grab her again. In that brief moment he motions to the others to stay. "I've got her. Find what she's distracting us from!"

This is only his 2nd round action. If you want to accelerate it up, his 3rd round will (likely) be:
Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 (Prone gets -4, but still fail.)
Upon failing, he may pull out his two handed sword and demand she stops struggling, depending on what Dolean does. I'm aware this will probably make Legiald look bad for drawing a weapon on a woman, but he knows what he's doing. At least, he thinks he does.

Elven Archivist 5

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Dolelan performs a simple enchantment to keep the girl from fleeing, and looks around carefully to see if anyone is trying to take advantage of the distraction. He approaches while Legaid attempts to keep the girl in hand, and pulls out a small leather pouch sewed shut and filled with sand. He has no intention of beating the poor girl, but some intimidation might be necessary to get information before he sends her on her way.

Standard: Cast Hideous Laughter (WILL 13) on Charon.
Move: Walk over to where Legaid is standing over Charon, draw sap as part of move action
Perception check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Nera follows suite rushing to towards the pickpocket while calling out trying to get her to cease her fleeing *noted above*

Seeing the woman knocked down by Legiald's quick feet she sheaths her weapon as while moving and attempts to hold her down.

Grapple Check; (Vs. 17 CMD, +2 if any of us are flanking)
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 (Success)

Nera quickly twists the woman's arm behind her and places her knee on the small of her back while calling speaking softly, "Please ma'am try not to struggle."

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Will check for Dolelan's spell round 1(dc13):1d20 ⇒ 3
New saving throw for round 2(dc13): 1d20 ⇒ 19
Round 2

Charon in a dazed state, stops laughing hideously. With effects of daze wearing off and Charon coming back to her senses.
Charon takes an attack of opportunity against Nera, kicking out at her to push her away. (Should get an attack of opp since it's your turn. She has no weapons out. AoO(Nera grapple -4 melee for being prone)1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 4 = 7) With Nera pinning her arms behind her back.
Charon gives off the aura she's not going to struggle.

Round 3
Charon bends to one knee and starts to sob. Her body goes slack. Trying to keep her face partially hidden from view. Charon in a sobbing tone, "I'm so sorry!!! I ain't no friend of those shadow things.... I accidentally pick-pocketed some gold from a very thin and angry lady with a dagger and sword. She caught me. I know, I was in the wrong sirs and madam, but we lost our homes and lively-hood last night. There ain't no bar for me to tend. What was I to do? She told me I could earn the gold I took, if I could keep you four distracted while she made her way through this part of town town. Or if I didn't she'd take back the gold and kill me. I got two young'ens to feed good sirs. Please don't hurt me. I just did what I was told to do. She looked like she was making her way towards the mayors office. I don't know what she'd wants there, but she was moving fast."
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens 20/Horizon Walker 10

That's a good summary, I was writing one when I got an RSS notification that Charon posted. Basically you have a strange crying woman who you've knocked on the ground and thrown magic at. She kicks as you pin her to the ground but otherwise simply remains submissive.

Round 3

Elven Archivist 5

His stern gaze softening, Dolelan puts away the weapon. He also mentally revises his estimate of the woman's age, it was so hard to tell sometimes with the shorter-living races.

"I understand, ma'am. Right now everyone's at the warehouses, it's the only place that might be able to hold off the Shadows. If someone came across your children, they'd have brought them there. There's food and blankets to go around, although you couldn't buy either for a bag full of gold right now! This is a time for neighbors to come together, not to steal from each other and slink around town looting from folks who lost as much as you..."

Dolelan will help the woman to her feet but continue moralizing and lecturing Charon's "victim" for a while before sending her on her way. He's keeping an eye out for Charon as he talks though... (taking 10 on perception check = 18)

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Sense motive against her bluff
1d20 ⇒ 17 (Nera)
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12 (Walter)

Holding the woman down Nera speaks softly, "See that wasn't so hard, now before I let you go I'd like for you to return whatever you stole from......well.....my friend.....I feel for your plight so here's a few gold crowns to help you on your way." she says a bit uneasy.

Nera will let go of the woman on her turn holding one hand on her blade as she pulls out 2 gold coins from her purse and hands them to the woman.

"Now please give back whatever you nicked off my friend and be on your way" she says in a hurried manner.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Charon seemingly more chipper with the realization that she isn't going to die.

Charon says looking at Doleran, "Thank you sir, I will take your advice. I should go see if I can find them. Becareful with the lady you're searching for sir. She seems like she could be the dangerous sort."

And quickly back at Nera, in a more panicked voice, "I ain't nicked noth'in ma'am!! Honest I didn't! You just ask your friend!!!(pointing to Legiald) He'll tell you, he will!!" Seeing the gold in the strangers hand. Charon wants to scowl, but she doesn't. So many hoops to jump through, for what might be a simple talk. Charon putting on her best excited face and trying not to scowl, "You're a generous sort!! Madam, I nor my kids will forget this! If I can be of any help, ask for me at the camp. Me name is Mentira." She keeps her head down as she's bowing as she starts to back slowly away towards the camp.

Bluff(for keeping scowl in check)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Legiald now takes his time to double check his pickpocket-able possesions. The others speaking to her in sympathy, he continues to hold his sword over her in one hand. Lastly, he draws the note in his hand, reading it to himself before putting it back. Then, as all his belongings are with him, his expression softens as well and moves his sword away. Scanning the surroundings for Charon, he finds nothing out of place. Legiald seems to ignore the stranger while he addresses Nera and Dolelan.

"She's telling the truth- she didn't take anything. Just distracted us. Charon probably slipped by just as we caught this woman. I'm going to go look for her on my own, and do something about the rest of my injuries." He looks to Nera, raising his voice slightly in a commanding tone. "Nera, check the mayor's office. Find Lugdro if you don't want to go alone, unless Dolelan is finished here. Meet me back at the tavern before sundown."

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Nera watches as Mentria leaves a puzzled look on her face as if she's debating herself in her head...before she pipes up as Mentria is nearly out of earshot, "Ahhhh! almost forgot! Sorry again miss Mentria for nocking you into the dirt and twisting your arm! Good Luck!" she yells out cheerily.

As Legiald pulls out his note and reads it Nera chimes in "Ohhh! Ohhhh! you write lists to yourself too! We have so much in common! I find it helps me.....well...focus""

After listening to Legiald intently she cocks her head slightly "Huh weird? Anyways I don't think I'll be going to the Mayors office. Already been there!...and well...I don't wish to see that gruesome sight again. If miss Charon went out of her way to get over there without drawing our attention....well....I'm not interested I did a quick comb over of it earlier and all I found was a body and a missing bounty of platinum from Hobb, plus I've got some experiments to run and need to catch some sleep before I head out tonight."

Nera pulls out her black scimitar and rests it over her shoulder for a moment before taking her hands and measuring the position of the sun. "I'd like to find a place to sleep before another 2 hours falls, but I'm wary of laying my head down to rest in this hamlet....if it wouldn't be too much trouble...could either of you meet me at the tavern in say 2 hours or so? I'd like to not wake up throat slit by the murderous miss Charon or gobbled up by a shadowbeastie for oversleeping. I plan to head out when I awaken parting for Jackals folly nor later than midnight." she rambles on a bit watching the birds fly by a little absent mindfully.

She turns and becomes very serious for a moment, "Oh and be careful both of you, Charon's already tried to murder me once today and she's threatened a poor woman with killing her if she didn't do her bidding. She's a loose cannon. She's also hiding something and speaks in half-truths so if you encounter her keep your guard up."

Nera will head off back to the tavern where we all first met making a few stops on the way to gather things for her experiments. She'll gladly keep Dolelan's company and will look around, but not particularly hard for Lugdro.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Charon moves toward the crowd and disappears. She ducks behind some buildings and makes her way to Everything Else.

When Charon gets there she'll push the body out the window and set up a ramp to get out that window. In case, Legiald isn't interested in talking. She sets 150 platinum on the counter between her and the entrance.

She will wait patiently until Legiald arrives.

His weapon put away as he parted from the others, he nods in acknowledgement to Nera before leaving. "Take care of yourself then." Legiald makes his way to Everything Else, asking for direction from one of the individuals he had assisted earlier as needed. He wastes little time getting there. At the building, he unhurriedly enters through the front door. Standing at the entrance of the store a moment, he closes the door. He takes a look once around the shop. Some of the herbs he recognizes. Then stepping slowly toward the counter, he eyes Charon, waiting for her to speak. He leaves a few feet between himself and the counter. His right hand idly rubs the breastplate over his mark, his other resting on the pommel of his longsword.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Charon does a quick rant and waits for Legiald to respond

Charon scowls at seeing Legiald's hand on his blade. Charon says, "I could of knifed you, if I wanted too, when I gave you that letter." Charon leans against the smaller rooms door.

"There is your money. We said we would work as a team. So there is your half. Although, you really haven't done anything to earn it. I owe nothing to anyone else. I keep my promises, all of them.", Charon bluntly states.

Sleight of hand: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
In a quick move, Charon starts to flip a dagger as she's leaning against the door. Charon says, "I or we may have a problem. When I was searching in here and found what you see there(platinum on table). It was fairly found and the mayor was defiantly dead." Charon scowls a little as she says, "Nera, decided I was hiding something. Something I stole. As far as, I can see it. You can't steal from a dead man. Either way she decided to use her witch craft on me first. Then tried to grab me, while I was dazed."

Charon's face goes from a scowl to an almost hateful look as she says, "I won't be searched. Period. I'll kill who ever tries to do it. That includes you if I have too." Charon pauses, "The marks we have glow bright when we attack each other. If you seen our marks when we were fighting they seemed to glow as bright as the sun. They also caused a lot of discomfort. So be wary of them, we are linked somehow. Also, I think Nera may be under the control of her sword. I've heard of such things, but never in my time have I seen them."

"Yes, something is wrong with her." His hand returns to his side, still idly resting the other on the pommel. His level of trust is obviously skeptical, but he doesn't seem intent on doing anything hostile. "I'm on your side here. We're in this place, making enemies out of unfamiliar creatures and maybe a powerful necromancer. They're coordinated. Even working together, two of us with these marks almost took the dirt nap. How you've done..." He eyes the money on the table again and again. He agreed to himself that he didn't do enough to earn that much, but she was just as entitled as he was. That is, if she and Nera hadn't tried to kill each other. "...well, let's try not to make the possessed mage-blade want to kill us too. We give them a fair split of all the cash with everyone- including the orc. About 450 platinum from the looks of it."

Now Legiald returns the scowl. "If you want to go about this on your own, fine. But I came here because I'd rather put faith in a level headed killer than a ditsy elf. Now, she is claiming to want to heal you after the tussle you had. If you'll put faith in me, I'll make sure she does just that. No searches. Dolelan is preparing for us to head to the Jackal's Folly at nightfall."

He approaches the counter, now removing his hand from the pommel as he goes. "I'll trust you with my life, but not my wallet. Dump your coin bag here and we'll see."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens 20/Horizon Walker 10

So Legiald and a "Random" woman are heading off seperately, Nera is searching for something to aid in her experiments. Dolelan and Lugdro, whatcha doing?

FYI It's about 1:00 PM in-game, the sun's high in the sky.

Elven Archivist 5

Dolelan's collecting the donkeys and supplies he purchased earlier and planning on meeting Legaid and Nera at the (presumably abandoned) inn where they stayed last night. He would cast alarm and get a few hours of rest (4 hours elven trance-style meditation, unless elves do something different in your setting) then discuss experiments on the ichor with Nera.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Assuming Nera and Dolelan chat for a moment and she knows that's what he's doing she'll pay him gold for half a donkey so she can stow her gear on it. So -4.2 gp.

If she runs into Lugdro that's lovely otherwise she'll retire to her room at whatever tavern she paid for a room at and perform experiments till roughly 3pm.

Male Human Sorcerer 4th (Accursed bloodline)

After he spent most of the morning cleaning up corpses and after cleaning up some, went to grab some food at the Jackal's Folly. If the owner is there, he'll order food for himself. If it's not currently staffed, he will put the money he owes in a cup and place it on the rafter or some other out of the way place. He occasionally pulls the neck of his shirt down and steals glances at the still fresh brand.

Okay, you head towards the stable, it's on the the eastern edge of town, one part of the stable opens onto the street but the rear opens into a wide coral that fences off a large part of the grasslands. Looking into the stables themselves you find what looks like the disembodied corpse of a equine form. Four legs lay down lengthwise while the torso they would be attached to is nowhere to be found, looking more closely however you find several pools of ichor that have soaked into the hay covered ground, shaded by the stalls.

Hearing a whinny nearby you see several horse-shaped creatures milling about in the grasslands beyond the coral, it looks like they knocked down a section of the fence and made their way past.

It's not secret, it's just that when I finished typing I found that it's a huge block of text about an inn that most of you probably won't care about.

Inn:
It is indeed empty, and strangely completely unmarked. (and btw, Jackal's Folly is the name of the bandit den, the inn I don't believe was ever named. For those that care it's called the Croaking Lion) You'll run into Nera as she retires to the room she and yourself asked the burly barkeep about the night before. The room is dark so you'll have to illuminate it somehow, it's easy enough, just open the heavy wooden shutters and light a couple lanterns. Waltzing behind the bar you find that there are a pair of shelves underneath. The first is lined with heavy wooden tumblers, the second looks like a wine rack. A number of vintages, none of them particularly old. Directly behind the bar is the large tapped keg that the barkeep was drawing your drinks from yesterday. Next to that is a large cauldron suspended over coals that have burned themselves to ash. If you open the cauldron lid a number of flies and a horrible stench come wafting out.

This is true for everyone's mark save Nera and Charon's.

You lift your shirt and look down at the mark carved (it certainly felt like it when it was happening) into your skin. As before the mark is a simple affair a curved kite shield with a pair of birds about halfway down on each side that perch facing each other. The mark itself is strangely clean, it doesn't look purplish or sickly like it first did when you glanced at it last night. It looks like a scar that's taken several years to heal over.

With a sigh, Dolelan gathers up two saddles and all the associated tack and sets them to the side some distance away so the animals he brings back will not be spooked by the carnage at the stable. Next he takes two bridles and approaches the horses in the field. He expects the animals to be skittish, so he steps carefully with no abrupt moves. When he gets close enough for his voice to carry (90') he uses his powerful, well-trained voice to speak soothing nonsense to them while he gently slips the bridles over their heads.

He's not satisfied with the offer. He tries to seem submissive, but his tone may give him away easily.

"You know damn well this isn't how to split earnings. But it is your choice, this is enough for me this time. You can explain yourself to the others. I barely know you." Legiald appears docile, though his tone shifts to accusatory. "You're going to Jackal's Folly, aren't you, killer?" He takes out an empty sack, and begins to collect the coins into it.

Assuming Charon walks out after her reply: The herbs here draw his attention for a few moments at least, seeing if any of them are worth salvaging. There's a group of four or so milling about near the edge of the coral, among them is a very fine steed, perhaps a warhorse and a slightly smaller mare, the other two are geldings. There are several other horses further off that appear to be grazing, though you can't quite guage their quality from this distance. They may have been skittish before but they seem to be fine now as far as you can tell.

Pick which ones you want

You'll find that most of the herbs in this room seem serviceable. Though most of the ones commonly associated with healing seem to have been taken in a hurry, several sprigs of the herbs lay scattered about on the ground.

Upon seeing Lugdro Nera gasps in surprise and drops the small burlap sack filled with various oddities she's collected in the last hour. "Mr. Siss....errr... LUGDRO! how has your day been! Mine has been frantic and quite busy." she exclaims with a measure of excitement in her voice and an air of familiarity that stands in contrast to her formerly timid behavior.

She pulls up a chair and pours herself a drink of spoiled grape juice her nose wrinkling slightly at the bitterness of it as she takes a sip.

Upon any mention of interest what she's been up to all day she will immediately start into garbled rambling at a frantic pace that resembles something like this.....

She'll end her ramblings by taking a long drink of the wine seemingly to cool her tongue as it might have been used more in the last few minuets than it's been used in months. After some time she'll retire to a room and perform experiments.

She'll also try out the live plant then dead plant first knowing that the ichor interacts with sentient organisms in some way already she wants to see if it will form a parasitic bond with a live/dead vegetative matter before moving on to the crickets. She will want to see if the ichor kills plants as well as sentient organisms first in order to determine if it's simply sapping the life out of such things or merely suffocating it or if will form a parasitic bond with living material that can't be killed by simply drowning in the ichor.

When she moves on to the ichor cricket she'll let if flounder in the ichor for a moment before yanking it up with the yarn and exposing it to the ioun torch to see if it remains alive. If it's stays alive she'll put a dead cricket in first and watch the ichor take control of that before yanking it out with a string and seeing if direct exposure with a ioun torch is over time is enough to kill it. She'll then drop the 'shadow'-cricket into a jar with a live cricket if it stays 'alive' due to exposure from the ioun torch. Upon seeing it attack the live cricket she'll fish the live one out with a string and expose it to the ichor watching it turn into a second shadow-cricket she'll then dump 2 shadow crickets into the same jar and see if they attack each other without anything nearby to possibly control them.

After all the experimenting she'll jot down some notes before exposing all of them to direct sunlight or squashing the crickets if that doesn't kill them and return to the tavern's bar to meet up with the rest of the group before she goes to sleep.

Nera:
I missed that part about the string but you did the Cricket before the plant in the order you listed.

If you pull the cricket out after a quick dip into the black stuff it'll come out relatively fine, when exposed to the light the cricket is almost completely covered in the stuff but before your eyes it simply melts off like the cricket was made of Teflon. Some of the ichor drops back to the pool but most of it is completely evaporated in the light. The cricket twitches a little bit but it seems to be alive.

Dipping both the first and the second cricket into the goop and then dropping them into the glass jar they both turn into the small mini-creatures I described before. Little tiny black tentacles seem to writhe out from the things like feelers as you stare at them intently. After a moment they both leap against the side of the glass, one right after the other, creating a barely audible *dink* *dink*. Little splatters of the black stuff drip down the side of the jar, pooling onto the bottom and recombining with the two crickets. This process repeats itself with both of them trying to throw themselves against the glass it what looks like a random pattern.

After watching this for a while and you're pretty confident there's nothing else you can learn from these things you open up the ioun torch on them and like the beasts last night it melts the ichor away, revealing two dead crickets in a glass jar.

The black stuff doesn't seem to affect the plant matter, it doesn't even stain it.

Bluff: 1d20+1

"You know damn well this isn't how to split earnings. But it is your choice, this is enough for me this time. You can explain yourself to the others. I barely know you." Legiald appears docile, though his tone shifts to accusatory. "You're going to Jackal's Folly, aren't you, killer?" He takes out an empty sack, and begins to collect the coins into it.

Assuming Charon walks out after her reply: The herbs here draw his attention for a few moments at least, seeing if any of them are worth salvaging. (Survival 1d20+8) He'll put his sack back in the backpack. Legiald spends up to two hours after looking for first aid kits. After that, he heads to the inn.

Sense motive(against bluff): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Charon says almost in a snarl, "You may not like how it's split, but I could of kept it all. Or Nera could of taken it from me. We made a promise to work together. I've been holding up my end. Honestly, so far I'm getting the worst half of the deal. The shadow creatures almost easily took you out and you get a bag of money for it." Charon composes herself and says, "Simply put, It's your choice. I can go or leave, It won't affect me. I'll still be going after this "Walter", I owe him much more than I probably know. I could care-less if we have the orc along, Nera is skilled but could be a problem, and Doleran seems competent enough. The only alliance or allegiance, I have right now is to you. If you wish to end that here. State it and I'll gladly end it. As well as, be on my way." On that note, as Legiald is gathering his platinum, Charon flicks the dagger into the counter where he is gathering his coins.
(Throw dagger): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Legiald stops pulling the platinum into the sack, leaving it on the counter. "Are you this hasty in romance, too?" He tugs the dagger, and turns to face her. "If I wanted to end it, you'd have heard me say so by now." He cradles the blade in inspection. "This doesn't have to be complicated. Dolelan's going to have the provisions ready tonight. If you're there, we go find Walter, kill him if that's the easy way, or find out where to go from there. If you're not there, you stay out of our way." He throws the blade at the door frame next to Charon.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

It thuds, jutting out from the wood. "Thanks for your charity, but you leave that behind tonight and work with us or get lost."

Might count as intimidate. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Dolelan returns to the inn with two fine horses and hitches/unsaddles them outside. He steps in and nods to Lugdro, then sits down and takes a moment to enjoy a drink. Unless the other man has something to say, he'll share a companionable silence before heading up one of the rooms upstairs for some rest and telling Lugdro to be ready to depart at nightfall.

I'll bring the warhorse and one of the geldings. The warhorse has a riding saddle, the gelding has a pack saddle. I assume I was able to recover the provisions I purchased earlier...?

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

"I'll be there, there are some things I need to do before 'we' go. Also you may want to 'talk' to Nera our last encounter may have left her with some bad blood." As she stated that, Charon frowns, thinking Leigald may not be such a pushover as she previously thought. Charon removes dagger from door, hops out the window and sinks into the shadows.

She'll search for a horse(trained), rations and anything on her previous list.

With that, Legiald finishes collecting the money and begins looking for more first aid kits in town, purchasing them or looting, before returning to the inn. Search for kits (survival): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

To Lugdro- "Hello again, Lugdro. Did Nera take care of all your injuries? If not, let me give you a bit of medical treatment just in case."

To Nera- "Charon will be rejoining us tonight. I'll keep an eye on the two of you when together, just as you asked." He gives her an apologetic look. "About that healing- can you explain it a little? It works fine. Yet it feels odd."

To Dolean as he rests- "I've looked around for healing kits, and barring having more of them, is there anything we could stand to have for tonight? Also, here is your cut of the earnings that Charon gave up. Her problem with Nera should be worked out fine enough for our journey." Legiald carefully empties out the 150 pp on the table next to the bed, and splits it halfway to Dolean, taking the rest into his pouch.

After talking with them, he'll tend to his wounds himself via treat deadly wounds with one use of the kit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 (success). +5 HP with one hour's work.

Okay, so note that down somewhere that you got those two horses, everything you'd need to saddle the horses in in the stable. As you're unsure about the provisions you head back to the last place they were at, after a quick search you'll find them behind the bar along with everything else that was either too bulky or too heavy to be carried with you on a stretcher.

You didn't really look for something along those lines the first day right? Roll a perception or knowledge local to see if you can find your way around.

Survival check isn't really something you'd use to search for lootables, that would be more perception to search or knowledge local to have an idea of what shops to go and purchase/loot from, though you made the DC even with the -5 penalty for not having a healers kit.

Elven Archivist 5

Legaid might notice the inexpertly bandaged wound on Dolelan's leg, when he stops in to chat.

In response to his question, Dolelan says, "I have secured a riding horse and a packhorse, along with their tack and feed. There should be enough provisions for several days, but it couldn't hurt to have more. If we find ourselves faced with very many enemies, I might run out of arrows. If you come across any, I doubt we would regret bringing them with us."

Roll a Diplomacy Check

Result <10:
They'll advise you to go and check one of the name stables in town Golden Fields which happens to be the same stable that Dolelan plundered for horses and tack. However there are other, less popular stables in town that they mention in passing if when you get there you don't feel like chasing down your own horse as it grazes in the meadow.

Dolelan Callennan wrote:

Legiald nods. "I'll see what I can find later today." He motions to the bandage. "Are you just soaking up blood with that? I can fix it up, if you need."

If Dolelan could use the aid, Legiald will treat the deadly wounds. Given that he asks for it, with one use: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 ...will restore 5 HP with another hour's work. (so many good rolls!)

Nice! Yep, that's exactly what I needed. Nera's brand of healing is a little too Evil for Dolelan's taste...

"My thanks. I don't trust Nera's "healing", and would have rather suffer through a hard day on the trail than be healed like that."

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Nera will contribute her last spell/AP to recalling Infernal healing and patch up Lugdro to 100%. I'll leave any interaction open and unspoken.

After some time interacting with Lugdro Nera will go upstairs and perform her experiments for an hour or so. She shortly returns to the tavern in time for Dolelan to return and grabs a glass of wine and mixes it with sugar as she poors over her notes. "Yes...yes..very interesting..hmmmm...I don't think so....well...." she continues to mubble to herself.

Upon noticing Dolelan out of the corner of her eye she perks up from her notes. "The experiments I performed on the strange black ichor has..... well.... yielded some....well...interesting results. she mentions a little unsure, but excited.

Upon any mention of interest.
She lauches into a long complicated rambling lecture complete with a thiesis various poorly drawn charts and a considerable ammount of irrelevant information and minor observations.

Important stuff Dolelan gathers if he pays close attention:

The ichor:
-seems sentient on it's own.
-doesn't impart negative levels (drain or suck the life out of things) merely killing organic material and then reanimating it's body forming a parasitic bond.
-the creatures if consumed by the ichor are either controlled by an outside source with a long range of controll or pre-programmed in to not attack their own kind.
-it seems to have no desidre to form a parasitic bond with vegatative matter.
-it shys away from positive enegery or holy energy suggesting negative/positive energy susceptiblity like the undead.
-it has no natural resistances towards most elements except for perhaps cold as it's naturally inclinded to enjoy the cold.
-creatures consumed by it are vunerable to light of all levels, but natural sun light seems to destroy or harm them much like a vampire.
-Considering their landspeed they either need a magical/supernatural method of transportation or places to hide during hours of daylight which would explain any lag time between attacks between villiages.

About near the end of her rantings Legiald shows up and Nera perks up cutting her ramblings short. After he mentions that he found Charon, "You found miss Charon? How was she? Is she alright? I believe I may have wounded her quite badly! Did you mention that I'd be willing to heal her? If you did I'm afraid she'll have to wait as I already imparted the last of my healing magics upon Lugdro here....anyways I did some experiments on the ichor..."

upon any mention of interest she repeats the same cumbersome prattling process that she did with Dolelan.

After a short while she seems content with herself and takes a few more sips of her wine to parch her drying mouth.

Once Legiald questions her about her healing, she turns as if trying to remember something long ago.."Ah yes I picked up that trick a long while ago... about 30 years if memory serves correct...anyways this was back when Walter was well....you know...Walter..." she pauses for a moment before snapping at her blade "Oh hush you!"

she then continues unfazed "Anyways so me and Walter on our travels happened upon an old keep that supposedly used to serve as an academy of sorts in olden times for those studying conjuration....you see a local village was having a horrible imp problem....so me and Walter investigated it. Turns out the keep was filled with an massive infestation of imps one of which had managed to stow away a large cache of scrolls and a few magic items that it had purposed to summon more imps from the lower planes and created a refuge from the torments of hell and a little vacation home here on the material realm. Anyways long story short they where causing all sorts of trouble killing livestock, setting things on fire, and generally being precocious little imps...." she takes a sip of her wine.

Continuing her story "So after we killed all those nasty little critters there was a ton of little imp bodies left over. Walter was convinced that the blood could be sold to a wizard or clergy for a decent price so at least the deaths of these fiends could be put to some good use....anyways most clergy members considered it profane and we couldn't find any wizards that where particularly interested in the stuff....so after a while I started researching it's magical properties and developed a spell to use it's inherent magical power. Later we had a wizard craft a few potions for us and even a wand utilizing the spell and the blood." having wrapped up her story she looks proud of herself before saying "And that's the story of how we turned the death of a nest of imps into a force for good."

She then adds while taking another drink and wrinkling her nose at it's bitterness before adding more sugar. "The spell is a little weird, it has a few minor side effects for which include, a mild burning sensation, slight nausea and indigestion. Prolonged exposure or use can result in slightly impaired judgment and weird mood swings that resemble what it feels like when the weather is consistently overcast or unpleasant. The mood swings are moderately similar to the very few days before ones moon blood but less sad and more angry."

Yawning tired of all the talking she adds "This wine seems to be effecting my head and I'm quite tired. I have a inkling fear of a monster or Miss Charon sneaking into my room and doing well....unpleasant things while I sleep. Would either of you mind if we all slept in the same room? It seems a bit safer than each of us taking our own..."

After all the conversation Nera will hopefully retire to a room they can all fashion to sleep in together. She'll take off her armor and sleep with her blade in her hand. Like a teddy-bear. She'll RP with anyone that wishes, but her actions are set for the rest day.

Roshan wrote:

Okay, you head towards the stable, it's on the the eastern edge of town, one part of the stable opens onto the street but the rear opens into a wide coral that fences off a large part of the grasslands. Looking into the stables themselves you find what looks like the disembodied corpse of a equine form. Four legs lay down lengthwise while the torso they would be attached to is nowhere to be found, looking more closely however you find several pools of ichor that have soaked into the hay covered ground, shaded by the stalls.

Hearing a whinny nearby you see several different breeds of horses milling about in the grasslands beyond the coral, it looks like they knocked down a section of the fence and made their way past.

That's what I meant by if you wanted to check out a different stable. It'll be a handle animal check to be able to take hold of the horses. If you're searching for riding gear it's all there in the stable, provided you don't mind the smell. At the moment they've migrated from east of the coral to just north of it, moving towards the river as they graze.
