Now that you mentioned it... I think that's a good thing!
Roll a diplo check with a -25 penalty! if you bead a DC 40, you'll be able to leave the ball alive!
==
So, jokes apart, the diplomacy check is to see if you were able to acquire contacts with the nobles, and thus making your organization stronger.
Johan Hale |
So, do we warn Elise?
Johan Hale |
Sir Valin/Heir to the Victor: The king that defeated the cult that originally controlled the horn was called the Victor. The ritual calls for us to sacrifice an "heir to the victor" to complete it. Since there are still months to go before that time, I'd rather not kidnap him right now if we can help it - that's a long time to keep a prominent figure locked up.
The Lilend/singer: This we might be able to do. If she recognizes us she may follow and try to ambush us on her own. If we know she's coming we could turn the table. She can turn invisible and teleport though so all we might be able to do is scare her off again. We're actually better to have her attack us in the horn where the seal will stop her from teleporting away.
How are we set for weapons and equipment right now?
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Agrippa will very soon have access to Dimensional Anchor(as soon as he has the money for the scroll to transcribe), and then trapping naughty outsiders with teleport will become much easier.
Sebastian Mayer |
OK I missed that part about the Victor. I think kidnapping him could kill two birds with one stone: Sebastian is very interested in diverting attention from the horn by setting up alternatives for the town to get worried about.
Fine if we don't have the plan to do that now. I'd also rather the lilend come to us although she may do worth things geeing up the townsfolk: there is an abbey of fighting nuns right?
An inquisitor is actually great at dimensional anchoring, better BAB and he can boost his SR piercing.
Sebastian also needs to see a metalworking about the golem heart before returning to the Horn.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Are you daring to question Lord Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Netteshiem's arcane might!
I will summon a balor to scorch your lands and eat your womenfolk!
Johan Hale |
Agrippa is an equal opportunity employer
Lord Cedric Barca |
Summon Balor's to make them pay homage to Lord Asmodeus before sending them back to the Abyss to be made fun of...
I'm good on equipment for now. If we want to set a trap for the Elf and I stroll back into the party and slip her a note. If she is what you think she may bite thinking to do away with me but we can prepare an ambush.
With the Heir of the Victor if we don't take him now, we risk him leaving town or somehting else happening to him. If we take him we have to protect him till the end of the ritual, which should be easy enough. If we can't do that then we are probably dead anyways. I don't think good will make the sacrafice call and send a squad to kill him before we can sacrafice him, they probably don't know why we would even have him.

I'd prefer to kidnap him in hose and doublet than try when has plate and shield.
Johan Hale |
Good point. We may not have all our kit with us, but neither does he.
Lets give it a shot.
ELDRED CROFTER |
Our kit is in town here - would take us 20-30 mins to get tooled up while Agrippa heads back to pull the seventh knot out for assistance.
Johan Hale |
There is a small list of possible things:
Turn on the Baron, and try take over his place.
Ooh! this is a thing? Someone talk me out of this one!!
:>
ELDRED CROFTER |
Let's get the heir - the rest all in good time.
Sebastian Mayer |
I'm thinking we need to distract the town from whats going on at the horn by making them worry about whats going on at home. The Seventh's murders do that in part but I'm not sure how well that will work longterm.
If we're going to grab this guy and presumably kill/disable a bunch of his flunkies then we may as well use the opportunity. Assuming we definately don't want to fly the Asmodean flag, I'm mulling over what else we can achieve with our circlets. We can appear as whatever we want provided it is humanoid, which is quite a lot actually.
Perhaps demon-worshipping elves from the forest? The idea that the local population has got feisty has got to discourage people from wandering around near the Horn, while simultaneously pissing the lillend off no end.
Lord Cedric Barca |
The towns people are not the problem. The giant evil beacon which is the horn is drawing people in wanting to make a name for themselves by stopping us. The town is just the port the arrive in.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Ehh. Familiars/Devilish servants aren't present sorry. Only Jeebs....
ELDRED CROFTER |
Then communication is going to be an issue. Hows this: I play the part of an old drunk. I hail the approaching group with a song - at that point you guys buff up. When I make a wolf howl sound you guys attack.
Who will be hiding along side Eldred (hopefully out of sight or invisible)? And who will be with Cedric and Johan?
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Agrippa will be where there is the least amount of possible danger...so somewhere far away from smiting paladins.
Sebastian Mayer |

If Johan is going to be the grabber then he needs to be close with anyone creating the disturbance. So say he stands there invisible.
Cedric needs to be close but presumably his stealth is bad also. Perhaps he is in front in plain sight but with some innocuous disguise so they walk past and then stop at singing Eldred? Just a slight variation on his hopscotch scheme.
Agrippa and I are back hidden in cover?
Splitting up like that we'd have limited buffs but Johan and Cedric would be in position to carve through them.
Lord Cedric Barca |
Yep no stealth for me. I think hiding in plain sight with the disguise is the way to go. I will sing along with Eldred.
Johan Hale |
1. We don't know this guy is a paladin. We know he is a knight of the Alerion. We have encountered two others from that order. One was a fighter, one a paladin.
2. We are overthinking this. Cedric will make a better grabber with his smite going so lets have him do that. Cedric and Johan attack from the front, everybody else piles on the hurt from range. Dm Aku is pretty good at filling in the blanks in the interest of getting things moving.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
^ what this guy said. Personally, I hate plans...its way too meta for me.
Sebastian Mayer |
OK with me.
Just to confirm buffs before DM sets the scene and it seems like I'm making stuff up restrospectively:
- Extended invisibility on Johan.
- Extended bear's endurance on Cedric (given he's upfront and visible)
- Shield of faith on Cedric (unless he indicates he can do without)
- Protection from good 10' on the 3 who are back (assuming Johan's last plan)
- Silence on one of Eldred's arrows (he is at least 20' from me and Agrippa so we're outside the affect)
- Sebastian himself has shield of faith, magic vestment and undetectable alignment cast. Is behind some kind of cover with LOS.
The silence duration is round per level so that will need to be cast quite late: presumably a few rounds used before the fight starts. If DM feels like we don't have sufficient forewarning then we go without.
DM Aku |
So, question:
Are you stopping to arm yourselves or just going with what you have?
Currently, no one is using weapons/armors and I'm assuming you left then at the inn or somewhere else hidden. You would need some time to retrieve it, equip and then return.
Johan Hale |
Assuming we left very soon after sir Valin arrived, and assuming Elise etc is successful in stalling them with drinks etc, we should have enough time to arm up.
DM Aku |
Hey, thanks for waiting.
I've updated the map with an ambush site.
Since to reach the castle they need to take a boat, I've set the ambush at point 14 on the Farhold map, the warehouses, that at night are somewhat deserted (not entirely).
Please pleace your tokens in your desired position and I'll move the game.
Also, please bear in mind you are not sure the path they are going to take.
:)
Lord Cedric Barca |
Glad your back.
Johan and I should be standing in the open here with a peasant looking disguise as we drunkenly argue. Eldred behind the wagon to the north awaiting to come out and strike. Sebastian and Heinrich to the south ally waiting to throw out magic. Everyone looking as wood elves except for me and Johan.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Agrippa is ready.
ELDRED CROFTER |
I've put Eldred behind the riders as he disguised (using Headband) as a vagrant, his bow appearing as a quarterstaff.
ELDRED CROFTER |
He'll start to sing a loud drunken song as the riders pass
Johan Hale |
Sorry, tried to post last night but the site was down.
Invisible Johan is placed. at the mouth of the intersection with a 15 ft reach from chastising lash. This way he can head off anyone that tries to turn north, so Cedric, the main road is all yours. Might need your demon-ape on this one just to help control the board.
DM Aku |
Other than hour/level extended 10 minutes level spells, I'll consider that you guys did not more than one small duration buff.
Because you have no way to know when the guy will head into your direction and when he'll leave the party. More so if Elise was able to stall the man.
If you can give me a good explanation how you are able to know when he is walking towards the docs, then I'll let you guys have those short terms buffs.
DM Aku |
@Eldred.
Rapid Shot:
Benefit: When making a full-attack action with a ranged weapon, you can fire one additional time this round at your highest bonus. All of your attack rolls take a –2 penalty when using Rapid Shot.
Since it was your action for surprise round, have only a standard to use.
I'll consider the first attack, without the rapid shot penalty
ELDRED CROFTER |
Hi Aku
Are you still running two groups through WotW? If so, how are we rating compared to the other team?
Johan Hale |
An excellent question!
We're your favourites right?
DM Aku |
Actually, I'm running three tables of WotW.
A friend asked me to take over the game he was playing, after the DM disappeared, for the third time.
Ratings? I don’t know, I don’t compare. :D
One of the groups is talking with Erza, the dread wraith just now.
The other is preparing to start the ritual.
