I used to use them all the time since Ranger was my favorite class, Truth be told I find they just bog down the game and I only really took one this time is because being adjacent to Groot counts as being in a forest (my favored terrain).

I noticed Gary said Crickey, is he going to be our Aussie NPC?

Male Human Werebat Harbinger 1/Stalker 1

Bit of a dumb question, but what size are we when we take our animal forms? There's no base bat, aside from dire, and swarm for Vaki....

Male Triaxian, Natural Werecat. Fey Druid (Tree ghost), HP:17/17 l AC: 15 T: 13 FF: 12 l Fort: +5, Ref: +3, Will: +7 l CMB: +2, CMD: 15 l Superior Low Light Vision, Scent, Perception +11, Survival +9 initiative +3/5(Favored Terrain Forest)

Pretty sure the size you become in animal form is the size of your animal. In your case vaki your animal form is a dire bat so you'd be the same size as one. Don't quote me though but thats how i remember this working.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Fenrarem is right, you take the form of your based upon animal. Werebat gets dire bat.

Male Human Werebat Harbinger 1/Stalker 1

Problem is, Dire Bat is large, with a wingspan of around 15ft and weighing around 200 pounds. It's roughly the size of an ox.

So, is that what I turn into? I grow a size? Or do I stay medium?

Male Triaxian, Natural Werecat. Fey Druid (Tree ghost), HP:17/17 l AC: 15 T: 13 FF: 12 l Fort: +5, Ref: +3, Will: +7 l CMB: +2, CMD: 15 l Superior Low Light Vision, Scent, Perception +11, Survival +9 initiative +3/5(Favored Terrain Forest)

My understanding is that you grow a size. Same as Griswold when he changes.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

You grow in size, from medium to large. You take all the blessings and curses of that change. The template only places restriction on jumping more then one size category compared to your base animal, which you can't. No medium to tiny or medium to huge for example. Werebears and weretigers deal with the same problem. Interesting enough because of that restriction small races can't become certain types of lycans. Werewolves, wereboars, and wererats don't have that problem cause their medium based.

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Sadly in your case Vaki, Igdus and Fen are correct.

Idgus, Rhun, you and I all become large. Perhaps the Dm would allow you to have a custom magic item made to reduce your size in animal form and or hybrid.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Why is being large a bad thing? Does not seem like space will be an issue in this game. If we are ever forced into turning that is. ;P

Male Human Werebat Harbinger 1/Stalker 1

Vaki is based around being unseen and quick, being large kinda messes with that, the first especially.

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Strictly speaking I wouldn't say it's a problem, not for me anyways. As a melee combatant I gain enough strength and damage to out weigh the ac loss and -1 to my attack.

Now if you were a caster or a stealth character, the loss if your ac, attack and stealth might hurt more. Then again most of you guys can fly.

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Also issues could come up in caves or dungeons, but we can work on that when it comes up.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Hmmm should have gone wererat, their the sneaks of the lycan world. :)

Anyways I would suggest getting a magic item to help with that if your concerned. Ideally a ring of invisibility, but a cloak of elvenkind will off set the size difference and is more in reach for our level. Anyways your never going to sneak up on someone in midair so not really a issue if you stay human while stalking.

As for custom special items. Maybe get a lycan spellcaster to create one that lets you turn into a regular version of your animal form. The item when worn will let a werebat turn into a regular bat rather then a dire bat in animal form for example.

Male Triaxian, Natural Werecat. Fey Druid (Tree ghost), HP:17/17 l AC: 15 T: 13 FF: 12 l Fort: +5, Ref: +3, Will: +7 l CMB: +2, CMD: 15 l Superior Low Light Vision, Scent, Perception +11, Survival +9 initiative +3/5(Favored Terrain Forest)

Also as an aside the Dm is a pretty open guy. Im sure you can explain that you didn't realize you were supposed to be large and he can re-skin you as a lesser dire bat or something.

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Probably better off getting a magic item, easier to work in. Now I kinda wish Fen was a were-raccoon. I mean we already have Groot...

M Human Shifter 2

would i just use the medium spider?

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Yes, in the dm page it says giant spider. So you're medium in all forms.

I'll allow him to be a medium Dire Bat runt of the litter type considering we did not give it a full thought when starting the campaign PLUS the fact that he has yet to turn into a bat yet in the campaign!

Male Human Werebat Harbinger 1/Stalker 1

Thanks Lycan!

Well in that case I didn't transform yet, so Griswold is now a polar werebear. ;P

*runs to update character sheet*

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

A werebear by any other name is still a self righteous punk. So your milky white instead of chocolate chip brown. I still want cookies and can't have them. xP

I thought everyone knew of the size change/limitations. Was a bit of a problem when I was building Igdus during recruitment but the DM worked with me. Werehawks are not canon in anything as far as I know. Being large is a small price to pay for my concept. Anyways like I said flight kinda negates any form of stealth or remaining hidden, without magic that is, so why not. Still have a lycan change complex.

P.S. Igdus will nickname Vaki "baby bat" if he see's him in his medium bat size form. He will also make fun of Cubby Griswold if he goes medium size bear too, if he survives everyone else finding out he is a werebear that is. ;D

Male Moutain Dwarf, Natural Bear Lycanthrope Spell-less ranger (Dual-style) 2 | HP: 23/23 | AC: 17 T: 12 FF: 15 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | Init: +4| Senses: Darkvision 60ft, Lowlight vision, Stonecunning, Perception: +7 , Survival +9 .

Don't fly too close to the sun Igdus. ;)
I'm pretty safe as a werebear, our clan is strong and friendly with the druids.

Also for the record, his fur is a ruddy blonde.

Male Human Werebat Harbinger 1/Stalker 1

Whatever birdbrain :P

No worries Rhun, post when you can!

And this is what happens if I decide to NOT keep this open all of the time in a tab.

I completely forget about it. >.>

I'll get to this hopefully today. But holy s+## I have like ten RPs going on at the moment.

Heh, I know, I've got 41 ;-)

K, so I've fallen sick. Will reply when able.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

Get better soon, it sucks being sick.

But seriously, get your rest.

Need to be at work at 6 am tomorrow. As a result I don't have the time needed to move us forward. Will do so on Saturday.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Table top tomorrow night prevents me from updating sooner. My sincerest apologies folks.

Shadow's Status

The boards have been a mess since last Wednesday night. As a result I have fallen behind in all games. I'll get to this one within the next few nights if not tonight.

Shadow's Status

Hopefully the boards are stable again (they have been this morning) and I can get out updates over the next two days.

Shadow's Status

Had to attend a graduation tonight. Updates here tomorrow.

When it's not sickness, it's an injured wrist. >.>

Will reply tomorrow.

Shadow's Status

Nice to have the boards working again. :-)

Shadow's Status

Just an FYI I will be taking 2 DM board breaks in the month of July:

1. July 2 through July 4 and
2. July 8 through July 11.

During this time I will be working on plot for some of the Campaigns as well as updating Campaign Information tabs for all Campaigns.

Shadow's Status

I still have an opening as noted below, anyone interested?

Recruitment is OPEN once again for Bloodlines - A V20 Vampire the Dark Ages Campaign - Clan Ventrue

You will start as Mortal.

All I need is a concept to start with.

This is a LONG running game, 10,000 posts. However, prior knowledge of the Chronicle is not necessary or quite frankly even desirable as you should not know anything of what has already taken place anyway.

For some reason no one seems to want to play Ventrue. Oi...

Rhun suspects it was a water elemental, or a ghost. Either of which can easily bypass Igdus in the rain/fog. For that matter, an earth elemental can as well (dig) and an air elemental (that whole being wind). :)

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

A ghost or elementals would have nothing to fear from a load noise or a few people. Doesn't really matter in that case if you see it coming or not. But I don't see why any of these creatures would really care or be in a forest to begin with. Never heard of a random ghost in the middle of a massive forest, attacking people but being afraid of loud noises for example.

OOC they all have a stealth mod and a form or interaction of some kind. If my perception beats their stealth then I notice them. Even invisibility can be beat, which it has in the cases of a few DMs I know to their pleasure. Game balance exist for a reason, at least until level 17th in my experience. But that's another story.

I didn't say that I, the player thought that. I said that's what the character suspects. I am really trying not to metagame here, 'kay?

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Not for nothing, but you're perception is a 31 at best.

Invisibility adds +20 to stealth while moving, +40 when not. Lycan could have ruled either way, and maybe had them take 10.

Also, range penalties, plus rain. the DC is +1 per ten feet. I can practically guarantee they were at least 100ft away, adding at least a +10 to the DC. Rain is either a +2 or +5 depending on if its considered unfavorable or terrible conditions.

Add in possibly an extra penalty for all the tress in your way, and you could be easily looking at a DC well into the 40s or 50s.

I don't care what it is. Provided it's not a will o wisp, those bastards are frightening.

Male Human Natural Werehawk Incanter 2

What's that quote "Sometimes I hate it when I'm right", 10 points if you can name it's source. ;)

Speaking of will o wisp, in another game I am in we ran into a mini army of them. They are absurd monsters if your not prepared or insane yourself. xD

@Monkeygod
Actually with his ability he does not take the normal range penalties and it increases his perception mod so your off on a few numbers concerning Igdus.
