How would we go about exploring the hexes? Survival checks?

Zachman08 wrote:

Excellent question! In order to start exploring a hex the party just needs to indicate that your intent is to fully explore it. That will slow movement down. Oleg's hex will take just under a day because part of the area has already been cleared, but typically a plains hex will take one full day to explore completely.

While exploring a hex you can make a Survival or Perception check and let me know the results. If the party is just traveling through a hex I might ask for a general route through the hex and specifically ask for a check.

BurritoMaker GM wrote:
PS - Each member of the party gets 100 XP for every hex fully explored. I'll calculate the XP for exploring Oleg's hex (A5) into next week's total.

By the way, COMMON mistake there ... each member of the party gets 25 XP for each hex fully explored. Sorry, my bad!

AND one last thing before I go drinking for the evening ...

If anyone has any questions for Oleg or Svetlana they'd like to RP in the gameplay thread, go for it. They're very grateful for the assistance with the bandits and are willing to share as much information as they have regarding the area. (Which isn't much.)

Sovereign Court

I am down for exploring us some hexes on the board. So, if you will allow me I will be rolling a Perception check for both Leroy and Orhan and will label them appropriately in case you don't want to accept Orhan's check.

Leroy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Orhan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Edit: Apparently Leroy spends most of his time looking a Zavier, making sure he doesn't become his next subject... for science of course...

Lantern Lodge

Male Human (I think) Student 3/Bum 1

I'll be doing the fluff later in the gameplay thread but I'm going to roll a perception check here and a knowledge nature check for any odd specimens that Zavier can dig up on the exploration

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

also Zavier plans to fix the door to the compound by taking apart one of the old catapults and using the wood to fix the locking mechanism. Would you allow a Disable Device check or does it have to be a craft check?

I will do the same and roll survival checks for Tathar and Dante

Dante survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Tathar survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

P.s. i apologize for any spelling errors as i am doing all my board posts from my phone since i am moving cross country currently

This is my sniper... Need a new picture...

Hey MJ, I was looking at some FAQs and it turns out I short changed my Animal Companion some tricks. I was wondering if I could add them to his list of tricks known or if you want me just to teach them to him as the campaign continues?

All set up in Tennessee now, so i'm g2g

Garrett will go with them not wanting to stay in one place too long.

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Feel free to RP the training via the board as we go along. The number of tricks it knows now shouldn't impact things too much at this point in the campaign.

I'm going to type up some Gameplay responses to the rolls and whatnot this evening after work. If anyone else has anything going on, just let me know.

Also, I'm going to set up a Google Documents spreadsheet where I'm going to write an in-character GM recap from the perspective of various characters. Anyone else can use it for note-taking or whatnot. Ultimately we can use the spreadsheet to keep track of kingdom resources. But really though ... that's probably going to be for other characters to deal with. :)

o ya, i forgot to ask. MJ, what time do we normally play eastern time? 9ish?

Lantern Lodge

Male Human (I think) Student 3/Bum 1

Ok then I'm going to make some rolls for disassembling the catapult then fixing the fort door. I'm going to assume that to the disassemble the catapult is a disable device and the fixing of the door is a craft(carpentry). Then there is a random Knowledge(religion) check in there for fluff purposes.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Craft (Carpentry) w/ Crafter's Fortune: 1d20 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 5 = 24

Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

EDIT: I just realized I can't actually make a Knowledge religion check so just disregard that last part.

ANOTHER EDIT: I just read your second post, so I didn't realize you were going to make the fluff for the rolls. So you can throw out the fluff I posted on the Gameplay thread, I'll just leave it up right now for giggles right now.

Sirnef and his wolf Lagura go with the others
Sirnef 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Survival
Lagura 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Perception

Not sure if we were supposed to roll perception and survival so heres my perception for Tathar and Dante

Tathar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Dante: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Sorry gentlemen ... dog and exercise got in the way last night. BurritoMaker GM and Oleg posts coming very shortly!

In regard to Poof's question up above, let's plan on a 9 PM eastern start this week. I'll have the MapTool server up and running by 8:30 for whoever wants to connect early. Hopefully this will give everyone time to get situated and then the party can roll out for parts unknown.

Shared Google Doc (blank spreadsheet) invite has been sent to Brian, Chris, Zach and "Duli" .... who did I miss? PM me your Gmail address and I'll invite you to the spreadsheet. (PS, you don't have access to the ships inventory spreadsheet either.) I'll be adding a recap by the cafe owner and either Oleg or Svetlana before the session on Thursday.

knowledge Nature check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

8 hour (or so) countdown folks.

If there's anything else anyone wants to take care of in the Game Play thread, go for it. Otherwise we'll start off tonight with Leroy's sense motive roll (conversation with Oleg) and the result of the knowledge nature checks for the tracks that were found (hexploration of A5).

"See" you all tonight. I'll be replacing the trading post map, I finally figured out how to get the map images from the AP and MapTool to match up. Which also means I'll be redoing a few maps at dinner tonight.

Hope you all didn't mind my moment of compassion too much there. But now though, there's a group of wisps that need to be cleared out before the Greenbelt is safe. Should be fun for a return fight.

Great fun. Thanks for not killing all of us.

I finished the map finally... Just now in fact. I went into art-mode and set up all of my brushes and such. I am happy with the way it came out. The link is below, plus I shared it on my Google drive, plus its in Garrett's profile. The map really big, the size of a 8x10 piece of paper, so download the file to zoom in as you wont be able to read the notes without doing so.

couple of questions for you mj

First linguistic check for the mite to try and understand the jiste of what he is saying.

Two can I level up now since the party is already going to level up in the next adventure and I'm not going to be there and then roleplay some science at the outpost?

Male Human Game Master 14 / Computer Tech 8 / Programmer 1

I added a section to the BurritoMaker google doc for PARTY SWAG!

Zach, go ahead and level up. That will be fine.

Technically I'm pretty sure a Linguistics check only works with written text and comprehension of that. An extra point in it would allow you to pick up Undercommon as a language though.

Anyone can try a Sense Motive check for the mite to try and figure out what he was babbling about.

Lantern Lodge

rolling for hp

1d8 ⇒ 7

sense motive 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Poor mite, he's so misunderstood.

New map. I redrew the map. Spent even more time on it. I will post a new map after ever session with the session date. Like below.

08/09/2012 - Party Greenbelt Map

Zach ... Hope you brought some camping gear with you for the ride back to Oleg's. I'll have something posted for you later today in the Game Play thread.

Brian ... Looking forward to seeing the new map come together. Looks like you used the new map. Nice seeing "proper" north on there too.

I actually do have a bedroll, trail rations, flint and steel and blanket. Also will update my character now that I now have a survival skill over 0.

The only other possible this I've heard is mention that they're going to do stuff with weapons that improve with your character, similar to the one in Legacy of Fire. Not definate if that'll be in this book, but it seems like a reasonable place for it.

Thanks.

I'm really hoping that the book goes further into crafting and expanding on the (Kingmaker) kingdom building rules.

I wonder why? You should run one of those campaigns some time.

Shut it you!

My personal opinion is that with a good set of rules, the Kingmaker AP could end pretty much anywhere in book 3 and then the party could just go off with continuing to expand the kingdom.

So what is Ultimate Campaign.

They announced Ultimate Campaign at Paizocon but didn't really say much about it. It's basically supposed to fill in all the gaps for when the characters aren't actively adventuring. Sort of like all our "boat actions" and stuff we do on the boards in between sessions.

Thats pretty cool.

8:35 (my time) game night ... the MapTool server is up. Just eating a quick dinner and I'll be on Skype by 9.

I've updated the timeline spreadsheet. (I'll get in-character comments on there at some point this week!)

FOR EVERYONE EXCEPT ZACH:
It's been four full days since Zavier departed for Oleg's trading post. The party has a full day "free" and then is expected to meet with the Sootscale kobolds at some point on the next day.

If you decide to massacre the mites, it will only take a few hours to ride from that genocide to the kobolds.

Haha, yeah. I will post the map later when I get home from work. I have a tweak or 2 to make when I get home and then I will post it.

Male Human Game Master 14 / Computer Tech 8 / Programmer 1

Took an extra 5 days... mainly because I forgot... Any-who, the map for the 16th is finished and I created and shared folder on my Google drive that will have all the maps from now on. I will not delete any of them so we can look back at all of our misadventures.

Click HERE for the Kingmaker Map Folder.

Here is an unfinished picture of both Garrett and Tathar.

Those are great! Glad to see people weren't active on the board this week, my business trip took up way more time than I thought it was going to.

And if you haven't done so yet ... FUND THE REAPER KICKSTARTER!!! I think it's around 200 miniatures at the $100 level at this point and will still go up.

my vote is that we sell all the jewels, split the money evenly and we keep all the magic stuff and masterwork weapons. Is anybody in need of buying anything?

I don't know how I missed that. But anyways, I'm fine with selling all the gems and what not and should we split it evenly or should we have a community pot that we can all draw from? If we split it evenly should we count items taken from the pot against the total we get? For example, I want that MW Cold Iron Sickle, would that count against the gp I have for my expenditures?

I'm more partial to doing a community pot but at the same time I have no qualms with splitting loot on an individual basis (if we take into account items that we find while adventuring when splitting gp).

Edit: Does anyone mind if I keep that MW Sickle?

Lantern Lodge

Male Human (I think) Student 3/Bum 1

For the spellbook I believe it is a spellcraft check so BAM!

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

and for the journal..linguistics to understand rambling kobold/gnomish?

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

EDIT: of course Zavier perfectly understands the crazy ramblings of the other madman...

Zavier wrote:

Thank you sir. Let's assume that you do this on the evening the party arrives back at the trading post. The next morning is when you give Oleg the list of items you're trying to procure. I'm off to play HeroQuest after work tonight so later on I'll provide you with a list of the spells in the spell book and a copy of what is in Tartuck's journal.

If anyone else has anything else they'd like for Oleg to order, please enter it into the Gameplay thread. So far the items Zavier has requested should be available within a week.

EDIT: For Gameplay, assume the party arrives back at the trading post at 9 in the morning. On Thursday, we'll pick up the action at noon the next day. Anything in between those times is fair game for board actions.

I'm cool with splitting it or keeping a shared pot. Whatever you guys want to do
