i wanted to take the Overprotective draw back

In your youth, you saw a younger friend or loved one suffer a grievous injury or die, and you blamed yourself for not having been there to help, even if there was nothing you could have done.

Effect: If one of your allies should fall unconscious from hit point damage, you take a –2 penalty on attack rolls and skill checks as long as you are farther than 10 feet away from your fallen ally.

it would work with the background in working on for my character he is going to be a half-orc that lost everything to the giants.

Need to make some small adjustments and a permanent alias when he is chosen, but below gives an accurate view of how he will look.

background:

Breunor Boulderbasher was born in the Five Kings Mountains as a son to a pair of devout dwarven warriors who followed the path of Torag. Breunor was raised as a real dwarf and his parents hoped that he would grow up as a worthy dwarf who could follow in their footsteps. Though he spent most of his youth in the mountains Breunor quickly found that he did not want to remain in the cramped underground tunnels. He wanted to get out and explore the world. Still he listened to his parents and trained his combat skills vigorously, while secretively looking for a way out.
Giants were the worst of their foes during their youth and Breunor was trained vigorously in combating them. It was after one of his first real combats with a couple of hill giants that they found a lonely mammoth babe among the herds the giants stole from their surroundings. When Bruenor released him and walked away, the young mastodon used its trout to keep hold of one of Bruenor's braid. Unable to let the poor lonely creature go, Bruenor decided to take it with him for now.
Being the softy that he was Breunor quickly became friends with the mammoth who he named Pwent. They slept together, trained together and hunted together together. Why they even shared a fondness for alcohol together. Mostly beers, but even wines and the stronger stuff. In his spare time Breunor would try his luck at brewing himself. It was this fondness for brewing and his wanderlust that led Breunor to the adoration of the god Cayden Cailean. He was a role model for him. Enjoying a brew, having fun and traveling around, that is what life should be about!
However his parents thought it ridiculous: the dwarven halls are no place for a mammoth and ordered Breunor to get rid of the beast. They also smashed his statue of Cayden and replaced it with Torag's. Bruenor tried to protest but to no avail, his parents would have none of it. Well they soon learned their kid was as stubborn as they were and Bruenor left the halls with his companion in tow.

During their travels they wandered a lot and they both enjoyed it. However, they did miss the dwarven stouts from the mountains and decided to brew together. Starting with beers and working their way up the difficulty Breunor got quite good at it. Pwent would help with gathering and foraging while Breunor did the finer tasks like control the fire and distillate the alcohol. It wasn't before long that they had enough materials to get their first brew. Cayden Cailean clearly smiled upon the two and blessed then with a little of his divine power. Bruenor was able to cast a few spells and Pwent was able to channel some of Caydens divine energies.

A few years later and Breunor got experienced enough that he could brew a range of alcoholic beverages. Now he travels the lands in search of new ingredients and inspirations to create new flavors for his drinks. He sells them where he goes and helps around if his assistance is needed.

Scenario 1::

Breunor looks around the room, trying to get his own bearing. Pwent...where is Pwent? His thoughts are a jumble trying to reconstruct what happened that got him caught like this. We were savaging for elderberries..then a large crash...an avalanche..?
A trumpet sound directs his attention to a corner of the room where he spots his companion. Though covered in bloody lashes and chained to a large rock, the young mastodon seems as brave as ever in Breunor's eyes.

"Oi there, another one awake! Another awake. Maybe this one tells Old Brulk'tha a pretty tale. Maybe this one doesn't fill her belly tonight! Hurhurhur!" Her voice is wheezy but booming, and her jowls jiggle with each word. With a scowl on his face Breunor looks at the large hideous creature and spits in her direction.
"Ye be getting naught from me blubberin' hag!" He defiantly shouts back.
As the giantess approaches the cage a wicked smile appears on Breunor's face. "Ye put the wrong one in a cage ya greasy bag o' pus!"
Breunor closes his eyes tightly Cayden, please ol' friend. Give Pwent the strength to break out! The dwarf focuses his powers and is answered by a powerful trumpet call and the crack of a chain. His smile widens as his companion, now broken free from the chain, grew twice as large and fearsome. With fire in his eyes the massive mastodon charges in the direction of the giant.

Scenario 2:

Breunor sniffs the mead for a moment and fills a mouthful with the golden fluid. Hmmm, decent balance of bitter and sweet...the yeast is different from what I know...I should ask the brewer about that. He gulps it down and smiles to the Ulfen.
"Ha ha! An which skills would Ingmund be wantin' laddy? This mead be decent enough, but I think I can improve the recipe somewhat. However, some things like my own recipe's are not for sale." Breunor says with a large grin and a wink. The lack of a laugh from the Ulfen man sobers Breunor up...a little.
"Fine, fine... much like yer self, probably, I merely be lookin' to sell some of me casks of whiskey and beer." He looks around the room and more absentmindedly says "As well as lookin' for some new ingredients and flavors. I dunnea really care about coin. I rather be havin' fun and discoverin' new flavors." He turns back to the Ulfen and looks him in the eyes, a more serious look on his bearded face. "But if ye cause is just, I might be persuaded to help ye."

Scenario 3:

His shoulders, arms and head sagging, Breunor groans loudly. "Blast ye. Why must we be havin' to enter a tomb of some wierdo. Why cannea it be quick 'n easy fer once." Pwent looks at his dwarven companion and trumpets shortly, while tilting his head quizzically. The mastodon approaches Breunor and and blows a jet of air in the dwarf's face.
"Ye ye, I know. They key to protectin' the town be here. I rather be fighting a bunch o' orcs. All these puzzles be hurtin' me head." Breunor says as he smiles at Pwent.
He spits in his gloves and grips his shield and waraxe tightly. "Let's try 'n get this done quick. I be wantin' to taste me new whiskey tonight."

I proudly present to you Morgder Kragmantle, CG Dwarven Barbarian (Titan Mauler). All of the details should be in the profile. I apologize for the rather long background, but I'm very excited about this AP and brought my very best writing to this character. I still intend to flesh out his background a little more, mostly just adding details in at certain intervals, but it's basically complete. You will also find a spoiler at the bottom of the profile named "Current Applications" where I am keeping and updating a list of all of the character details of submissions. Please let me know if there's anything you have questions about, and I always love feedback!

Accepted, and with many thanks. I'll give it a more thorough audit tonight, but most of it checks out at-a-glance.

It looks like the alias problem is fixed.

I just realized that I somehow messed up the link for my character. I'm not sure how that happened. Apologies, here is Morgder Kragmantle, properly linked.

Breunor Brewmaster is ready for an audit. Let me know if you need some more information on certain aspects. (Sorry I took your picture Campin Carl, it was the best one that fit him :) )

The Current Submissions spoiler is updated.

Wow, 45 potential competitors for 6 spots. Going to be pretty tight. DM, have you considered the possibility of running more than one table? Or maybe 8 tables? *smiles innocently*

wow I knew there was few but 45?!...and the number might go up because submissions are open to the 23rd lol

Before we get directly into character creation goodies: I will show a certain amount of preference to certain persons I have gamed with heavily in the past. Fair or not, their caliber is already proven, and I wish to be as transparent about that upfront as possible.

And that.

And Holsk should be up to date and fully ready for proper submission!

I'm looking to roll up a dwarf for this campaign. Of course, I need those rolls to start with rolling up! Could I please get my stat array (and may Desna bless your dice, harhar!).

I'm plugging away on the profile as work allows lol (12 hour days suck)

Brimley, as Carl said I would also like to beg on my knees for multiple games if your bandwidth allows as the interest here is great. :) Carl I hope you dont mind if I'm borrowing some formatting from you profile as well :)

Speaking of, here is the my Oread Brawler. still in progress and not ready for submission but Progress! lol

Guru_of_the_Sands wrote:

If you look under my profile you will find a link to my character creation guide for PBP gaming. I encourage people to steal my formatting, I think (without trying to sound like a narcicist) that I make some of the neatest and easiest to read characters on the boards.

I believe I'm going to pull out. While I'd love to play this AP, 45+ submissions is crazy, and I've got enough games going right now to keep me occupied. Thanks though!

I'm afraid the answer there is going to be a not likely. Taking on more games than my gumption allows has not ended well in the past, and I'm steering clear of it in the future. That is partly why I have been far stricter on my creation guidelines for this game: an attempt to dilute the influx of full applications.

I doubt the actual amount of competitors climbs so high as 45. Many will be dissuaded by the low buy-in and even lower stat arrays, I think.

Looks like you broke even, at least.

Rolls:
3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2) = 12

15, 12, 15, 10, 11, 8
or 12, 14, 14, 10, 12, 10

Understandable. I prefer to run only one table myself, I prefer quality over quantity.

Yes, the number I have encompasses anybody that had dice rolled for their stats (as well at the few who opted for the 15 point buy). The majority of the interested people have nothing more than their base ability scores right now.

Current Applications updated.

That's very fair Brimley. Attention bandwidth is what it is. May we all make the decision on who to let in hard on you :)

Brimleydower wrote:

Good call. When the GM gets stretched too thin everybody loses.

CampinCarl9127 wrote:

It's actually worse than that as ...
Brimleydower wrote:
A few of the slots are more than likely already spoken for.

So really where competing for 4-ish spots. I guess the take away from this is that this should be a stellar game with a stellar cast.

Background added. May tinker with it more but those are the bare bones of it at least.

So I've gone back to the drawing board and my odd dwarf/orc is now an odd halfling. He now has almost double his original Cha! Cha 5 should be easier to roleplay, and the background is percolating.

Since we have three weeks to do this and so I'll work on it in between my other games.

Will check back when I have any questions.

Cheers

Well, considering I had to work eight days straight and never really did get a chance to sit down and crank out that character, I'm just gonna pull out of this one. Best of luck, everybody!

First draft with basics on personality, background, etc. Still fleshing out the background and then working on the scenarios. Haven't decided on gear yet either. Plan to take her Mystic Theurge at 4th and then focus on Sorc after (Enhanct focused)

Dark Archive

I am seeing this opportunity a little late, but want to join in. And I will gladly take the 15 point by over the dice rolls. And even though I am curious about the outcome of a set of rolls I can math and the odds are very poor that I would beat a 15 point buy.

I want to make some type of bow user and am wondering about the Rich Parent trait that would allow me to start with a masterwork strength bow. Any issue with that trait? I ask because some games do not allow it.

I am like 99% positive he already gave the OK for Rich Parents trait a while back.

Silver Crusade

Alternative is you could take signature moves trait, its the same thing but limits the gold to a weapon.

This is Olmek's character. I decided to focus on something more SAD than the polearm fighter and settled on Sir Ausk, a half-orc warrior masquerading as a questing knight.

Right now, all I have is the crunch, which is inside of the alias. Fluff will be filled out tomorrow.

Presenting Tharok Cragsoul, my half-orc ranger. Stats and gold were rolled upon request by my Phil Tucker alias.

After going back and forth, I've decided: state me up please.

Don't state me up. I don't even know what that means.

Roll dice for my character please.

I'm fine with Rich Parents, just be sure to justify it in your character's background.

Rolls:

3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4) = 13

or 9, 10, 13, 11, 7, 15

If with my alchemist I took grenadier archetype and lose brew potion as an alchemist feat would you allow me to take it at a later time? Same with mutagen, if I trade it in with one archetype can I take it later as a discovery?

Unless I'm missing something, both of those are possible RAW, so that's fine.

...This might be my best chance to play this Path.

I know I will regret this choice.

Roll the bones please!
