Brevoy Southern Reclamation Project - BS RP (Kingmaker)
(Inactive) Game Master
fnord72
High fantasy kingmaker campaign. Expect modified kingdom building and an emphasis on the social and political aspects of creating and running a kingdom.
@ FNord, No problem about fey foundling. I have dropped it in my proposed fluff, and I will get to rolling the other missed stat.
1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
please allow me to think on the plot hook a while. Obviously I will be replacing one of those 12s with the 11.
Azure, please stop doing the GMs job. I read his message before. It really irritates me when you correct other players when you have not been asked to do so.
DM, I will likely be unable to check the status of my submission until Tuesday as I'll be moving to my new house and won't have Internet access. I may be able to check from my phone, but I won't easily be able to post until Tuesday.
And another opportunity to be sent back into limbo rears it's ugly head.
May I present Rufus Fitzroi, bastard son of an Aldori Sword-dame and itinerant knight-errant.
Human Cavalier (Standard Bearer Archetype: I realize this is from Ultimate Combat, unfortunately the main point is switching Banner & Mount so there would be differences from the get-go), Blue Rose Order (again Ultimate Combat, this however, I could start as Sword I believe), Chaotic Good, Bastard (obviously).
Born the product of an illicit union between a young Aldori Swordswoman & an unnamed Rogarvia Scion, Rufus knew he would find no comfort in either world. Instead he traveled south, first to Mivon & then further to the River Kingdom of Liberthane where his mother's good word bought him the opportunity to squire for Achille Parsal.
Though never quite equal to Parsal's ethical standard, Rufus learned the rudiments of knightly behavior & conduct. Particularly hueing to the concept of 'might for right' rather than it's so often seen obverse. His spurs won, Rufus returned to the hills & fields of Rostland once word of his mother's death in a duel reached him. Arriving in Restov, Rufus was quickly cautioned by family friends NOT to attempt restitution, but rather to pursue the end she had set in motion for him.
Accepting the Charter given him by the Aldori Swordlords & Restov's Lord Mayor Rufus once more finds himself leaving the land of his childhood & turning South...
I'm going to go ahead and withdraw my application at this time. I fear I've been a bit overzealous in my Pathfinder addiction, and I'm at risk of stretching myself too thin with my already existing game applications. Thanks for your consideration!
@Rufus Fitzroli yes, this is before racial mod, and you missed that a reroll is a pair, and you will need a plot hook.
@Napalmbackflip sorry to see you go, GL with your future endeavors.
I am aware of the potentials with the attributes. And I have already taken them into consideration as regards the encounters that I have developed for this game. The fact that the players will NEED to have saves and skills that such scores represent should actually be scaring people.
This is a kingmaker campaign, while combat will exist, those that have optimized their characters for combat will find themselves sorely pressed handling the politics.
I would also like to note that the campaign starts with presenting credentials to receive a writ of exploration, in Brevoy.
After thinking about a hook, just wanted to add it to my submission:
Here are my re-rolls:
1d3 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Those scores replace the 12 and 11 in the original rolls, leaving me with:
17, 16, 15, 15, 14, 12
Hook:
Though Aedon was released to his father's care after the theft, several of his friends were not so lucky. Many of them were sentenced to years of hard labor, while others had their right hands removed after being literally branded as theives. The families of these men are incensed that Aedon was able to avoid a similar fate, and many have sworn vengeance for the perceived betrayal of their loved ones.
On further thought, I am going to drop out of the running on this one. The really high stats is not something for me, I think. Good luck to the rest of you and the DM!
My apologies, I misread the instructions. For my second of the pair.
1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10, to replace one of the 14's. Well, that brings him down to a bit more reasonable.
As far as plot hooks go,
Spoiler:
There is the fact that a member of House Surtova had been attempting to take advantage of the black-mail opportunities inherent in his conception since it was discovered. This same individual is likely responsible, directly or indirectly for Rufus' mother's death, immediately prior to his receiving his charter as a result of her politicking on his behalf. Does that work?
Lyster Valdis human inquisitor pioneer
Rufus Fitzroi human cavalier issian noble
Kari the Feytouched human bard brigand
aedon tellefleur half-elf rogue noble born lebeda
salvator human paladin sword scion
gizsmith glitterbyte gnome bard brigand
Welcome aboard to all, and may all enjoy the adventure.
I guess now I need to update my character sheet...
Actually, my Campaign trait is Bastard. Although I was pretty much raised as an Issian noble, mostly... Um, should I switch from Standard Bearer Archetype? If I do, will I have the possibility later to switch back?
I thought so, I've been wanting to play one since I first read it, that & Standard Bearer actually made me interested in playing a Cavalier for the first time.
For right now, I have him written up as a standard Cavalier of the Order of the Shield until I hear word back from the DM.
Basically, I figure Rufus would have been a Paladin, if he could have just managed to be a bit better at self-discipline.
Edit: Oh crud, I just realized Flagbearer isn't from Core or APG either, bother. Hey DM, should I switch that out also? If so, I will take Weapon Focus: Bastard Sword.
I am open to allowing things that are not inborn or core to the nature of a person to be retrained later. Especially since I am allowing the research/discovery of UM and UC material to come into play later in the game. For the first adventure, while I get used to the players, and the players get used to me, I prefer to keep things simple for me to have to research. I also find that invariably someone will have forgotten something that should have been on their sheet, or realized that a choice made at character generation didn't make any sense, and these situations may, not will, may be mutable.
