Takes 10 on second tumble check (20 vs probable DC of 18)

Unless the Beta rules say otherwise (and I can't find it), you can't Take 10 in combat, sorry.

Beriaden, with the successful Acrobatics role that's actually only 1 move action. Would you like to do something else?

Any remaining action he would use to go defensive, which means he won't be hitting anyone, but his armor class should be better in case anyone should come to attack him. He isn't the type to blindly swing his sword.

I'm sorry, I mis-remembered the rules. You're correct, I can't do that in combat.

Taking 10

When your character is not being threatened or distracted, you may choose to take 10. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, calculate your result as if you had rolled a 10. For many routine tasks, taking 10 makes them automatically successful. Distractions or threats (such as combat) make it impossible for a character to take 10. In most cases, taking 10 is purely a safety measure —you know (or expect) that an average roll will succeed but fear that a poor roll might fail, so you elect to settle for the average roll (a 10). Taking 10 is especially useful in situations where a particularly high roll wouldn’t help.

Here's the new roll:Acrobatics (tumble) (1d20+10=21)

COMBAT ROUND 1 CONTINUED

Knowing that this is a heist, Beriadan figures that someone would go for the chest in the center of the room. Therefore, even in his blinded condition, the elf's memory and keen reflexes allows him to make his way into the room without any difficulty as he seems to instinctually deflects off of anyone he might run into and bound over anyone he may trip over, moving thirty feet to the east. (Move action, Acrobatics check 19+4-4=19)

The one-eyed woman continues exhorting those around her, "No, no, take them down! Don't leave them standing! Like this!" The last words are almost screamed as she moves among the cowering gambling hall patrons. When she has a better view of her target, she pulls a small piece of wool from her overcoat and speaks words of power. All of a sudden, Ebenadar loses track over everything. What was he just doing? Where is he? Wasn't he just about to do something? (Move; cast spell; Ebenadar makes a Will save 4+0=4, fail, Ebenadar is dazed and can take no actions this round, but is otherwise unaffected.)

Gornak lumbers forward in what he thinks is the direction of the action. Swinging his rapier crazily about his head, he roars: "What's going on? Stay back! No one takes Saul's gold!" He thinks he can almost start to see some blurry shapes...

As the ghostly hand draws Kappasc's longsword, Kappasc decides not to send it into battle for fear of hitting one of his new associates...instead he mutters an incantation and waves his hands as a shimmering light washes over Kap's body. (Cast Mage armor)

Ebenadar stands between the two thugs and can't figure out for the life of him what he was just doing. (No actions as he is dazed this round; next round he will be normal)

Still unable to see anything, the bouncers draw their weapons and try to listen for foes. The only one who thinks he has a general idea as to what he might be aiming at screams out, "I think there's one here, boys!" He takes a wide swing at the thug near the southern main entrace, but misses by a nautical mile. (Hit misses due to 50% miss chance)

Sevegny pulls out her spear and moves up to behind the thug who just took a swing at Mel. (Draw weapon; move action)

Shouting behind him at the half-orc, Thumparr sees his target move away behind the large treasure chest, completely obscuring her from view. Grumbling, he moves past Beriaden until he can get a better shot and throws the Thunderstone. It explodes between the two in a rumbling WHOOOPANG! The one-eyed woman and the bearded robber both clutch their ears in pain and grimace. Howls go up around the room as everyone's eyes start ringing like crazy! (Move; throw Thunderstone 13+2-4(cover)-4(2RI)=7, hit square; One-eyed lady and Goateed man both fail their Fort saves and are deafened for 1 hour)

COMBAT MAP

Of the PCs, Kappasc is blinded for one more round. Everyone else is fine.

Ebenadar has a will save of +5..shouldn't that make it 4+5=9? Not that it will make a difference in this particular save, just want to make sure I'm reading it right. And hey, at least I'm not deaf!

Sorry, Count, for some reason I looked up Mel's Will save instead of yours. It's those damn blond avatars, they all look alike to me :) But you are right, the roll was low enough that it wouldn't have made a difference.

Still blinking spots out of his eyes, but thankful for the return of his sight, Ngozi will stagger up and over next to Beriadan, looking to get an open shot on the one eyed woman with the stick in her hand or on the thug standing next to her.

Stand up and move to square J10.

(Male Elf Ranger 1)

Beriadan smirks as his eyes focus, first seeing blurs of color, then a more focused image of the combat in front of him. Seeing he was a bit to the left of where he wanted to be, he nonetheless moves towards the podium and draws his dagger from his boot as he moves. Let's see how determined they are to steal this gold once a bit of blood has been shed. Beriadan thinks as he lets his dagger fly towards the goateed man. However, Beriadan mumbles an elven curse as his dagger embeds itself into the wooden post of the podium.

ranged Attack 8

Moving to E,12 and drwaing dagger as part of move action, then throwing the dagger at the bearded spellcaster.

(Male Dwarf Fighter/1)

"How'd ye like dem apples?" Thumparr yells at the assailants standing around the treasure chest...hoping they are as deaf as a fence post. Then he attacks.

Spoiler:
If possible, Thumparr will pull his hand axe from his belt and hurl it at the thug standing at C13 - can he pull and throw in the same round? If so, here is his attack: 1d20+2=18, 1d6+3=8

If not, he will ready his shield and then charge on his next round. Of course, this could change since he goes last in the round. :)

I can't move AND move my hand in the same round, correct? Im assuming since I have to maintain concentration, I have to to only move either myself or the hand.
Also, even though Im blinded, can my Hand move at full-speed?

Although sight is begining to return to his eyes in meager and spotted patches, Kappasc can still not make out the battlefield before him. Grumbling, Kappasc conentrates on his ghostly hand and moves the sword forward, toward the sounds of battle.
Rather rudely, Kappasc blurts out, loudly, What in the world is going on, here!.
Move my hand of the aprrentice due North, 15 feet if allowed, 5 if I have the same half-speed penalty applied to the hand.

Sounds good - he'll take the five foot step and attack as noted above. Although, if the goateed man is in range, he'll aim for him; if not, the thug nearby.

"Let me show ye how it's done, me friend!" Thumparr says, hurling an axe.

The priestess of Calistria jabs feebly at the bandit before her (F7).

COMBAT ROUND 2

Still blinking spots out of his eyes, but thankful for the return of his sight, Ngozi staggers up and over next to Beriadan, looking to get an open shot on the one eyed woman with the stick in her hand or on the thug standing next to her. (Stand up and move to square J10.)

"You're right mate...and that someone is you" Seeing the red cloaked woman coming up behind the thug Mel steps to his left maneuvering the robber between them before thrusting at his now distracted target. It slices a deep gouge into the thug's side, causing him to call out in pain, "Hey, you bastard, that hurt!" (five foot step to E6; Attack roll (includes +2 for flanking)1d20+5=15, hit! Damage 1d6=1,Sneak attack 1d6=3)

The bearded man curses a Chelish blue streak, looking down at the scroll he is holding in desperation. With a grimace he reads out the spell written upon it.

Kappasc:
Even though you are still blinded you are pretty sure that he just intoned the words of the shrink item spell

Once these words are spoken he looks slightly relieved and touches the large treasure chest on the podium. With a flash of octarine light and the sound of air rushing in, the chest visibly shrinks until it is the size of a thumbnail.

The thugs let out a cheer as they see the bearded man work his magic. That is, those thugs cheer that aren't busy defending their lives. The northernmost thug, having dispatched the guard moves in to gang on up the halfing Ebenadar. He strikes him soundly with his kosh in the arm, causing it to go numb momentarily. (Thug hits AC 19, hit! Damage=4 hp nonlethal)
The two thugs on either sided of Ebenadar join in, one of them shouting: "Now we've got you, Dog Biter!" (First thug hits AC 14, miss; second thug hits AC 12, miss)
The southernmost thug knocks out another blinded guard then turns to see Thumparr, Beriaden and Ngozi all heading in his general direction. He decides to withdraw back to the rest of his compatriots while he can. (Thugs knocks out guard; move action)
Another thug sees that he might be able to get a shot in at Ebendadar and moves over next to him, but the halfling is as elusive as ever. (Move action; Attack hits AC 14, miss)
The wounded thug between Mel and Sevegny swings his blackjack at Mel and hits him square in the jaw with it, loosening a few of his teeth. (Attack hits AC 18, hit! Damage=5 hp nonlethal; 5-foot step)

Beriadan smirks as his eyes focus, first seeing blurs of color, then a more focused image of the combat in front of him. Seeing he was a bit to the left of where he wanted to be, he nonetheless moves towards the podium and draws his dagger from his boot as he moves. "It's gettin' a bit crowded in 'ere, boys," Ebenadar says before jumping and rolling right through the line of three thugs standing in front of him and charging at the bearded man at the podium. While he manages to avoid three of them, the thug behind him reacts in time to swing at him. AFter getting past the line, he throws himself at the Chelexian, attempting to immobilize the man.

Using the previous acrobatics rolls gives me 27 and 21. New rolls: acrobatics (Tumble) (1d20+10=22, 1d20+10=15). Use my previous grapple roll.

POOM. POOM. POOM.

Now that Gornak can see, he grins a crazy grin and starts jumping up and down with his hobnail boots.

POOM. POOM. POOM.

It's amazing how gracefully he can leap into the air and yet land with a bone-rattling thump.

POOM. POOM. POOM.

He also starts chanting softly in his gravelly basso: "fight...fight...fight..."

The war dance begins.

Again, the red-cloaked woman stabs pitifully at the rogue.

The One-eyed woman rushes past the grappling opponents and snatches up the minuscule treasure chest with one hand, turning towards the door to make her escape as quickly as possible. (Move, grab as move action)

Initiative for remainder of Round 2:
Sevegny 4
Thumparr 3

I know this combat is taking forever, but I figured that Sevegny and Thumparr might want to do something different than posted, what with the One-Eyed Woman headed for the door in the next round with the 10,000 silver pieces. The front doors are basically directly south of where Thumparr is standing. I will give them a chance to change their actions before ending round 2. Others can go ahead and post for round three if they like. Sometimes it's good to be at the end of the initiative queue.

Actually, can I add a casting of Inspirational Boost in Gornak's action? I forgot I had it; it would raise the bonus to +2/+2 attack/dmg.

(Male Halfling Monk 5 (Maneuver Master))

His arm around the much larger man's neck, Ebenadar shouts in an attempt to get everyone's attention "Stop! Drop yer clubs and tha lil' prize chest or I'll snap th' bearded man's neck!" I sure hope this be the man in charge or I'll be in some serious trouble...

Can that dialogue fit as a free action at the end of this round or will it have to wait for the next?

Normally I'd say no, once your actions have been included in my round summary they are set, but since this round is so broken up and we haven't come across this particular instance yet, I'll grant it.

According to the beta rules, you can speak whenever you want, as long as it's only a few sentences.

Seeing the one-eyed woman getting away with the money, Sevegny casts a spell of command.

"Approach!" the priestess intones.

OOC: I cast command on her.

From the SRD: "On its turn, the subject moves toward you as quickly and directly as possible for 1 round. The creature may do nothing but move during its turn, and it provokes attacks of opportunity for this movement as normal. "

As Sevegny finishes intoning her spell, the One-eyed Woman turns around and faces the priestess. (She fails her DC 13 Will save and will move toward Sevegny when it's her turn.)

(Male Dwarf Fighter/1)

Seeing the lady heading for the door, and knowing he'll never cut her off in time, Thumparr hurls his throwing axe at her, hoping to at least make her drop the chest.

Seeing the lady heading for the door, and knowing he'll never cut her off in time, Thumparr moves towards her, pulling his weapon from his belt, and hurls his throwing axe, hoping to at least make her drop the chest. "Give up man you have no chance of escape. Drop your weapon and surrender and you will live..otherwise you will end up like her bleeding your life out on the floor"

COMBAT ROUND 3

With the one-eyed woman down, Ngozi switches his attention to the thug nearest to her. He advances across the room to stand just behind Thumparr, aiming and firing past the dwarf with his crossbow. The quarrel takes the thug right in the neck. Blood spurts a bright crimson from the arterial wound as he descends to the casino floor. (Move to H15. Shoot Thug in C15. 1d20+9=17, hit! Damage 1d10+4=8; thug is dying)

Mel sees the woman go down and the bearded man has the halfling choking him...moving in on his wounded target but away from the larger group of thugs he calls on him to surrender. "Give up man you have no chance of escape. Drop your weapon and surrender and you will live..otherwise you will end up like her bleeding your life out on the floor". He ranges himself alongside the spear wielding woman. (move is F6-G7-G9; Bluff 1d20+7=24)

As the One-eyed Woman falls and he hears the halfling's words, the Bearded Man's face contorts with anguish and rage. For a moment it looks as if he is going to explode. A second later all the blood seems to drain out of his visage and he goes limp in the halfling's arms. "I surrender," he calls out much too loudly, unable to successfully modulate his voice due to his lack of hearing, "everyone grab what you can and get out of here!" He drops the wand in his hand and looks down in defeat.

The thugs who are still standing know when to follow orders and head towards to the bar to the north. It seems they know of another way out of the casino. The only aggressors left in the room are the disabled (Bearded Man) and dying (One-eyed Woman and one thug).

Combat is effectively over unless you want to chase the fleeing thugs.

(Male Halfling Monk 5 (Maneuver Master))

Ebenadar adjusts his view so he can look over the Chelaxian's shoulder at the one-eyed woman on the floor. "Anyone be able to 'elp this 'ere bleedin' lady on the floor? If'n she don't die, she may be o' use.

Also, I got a bit o' rope in me pack - tie her and this oaf up so I can let go."

In the blink of an eye, Gornak stops dancing and he turns from a graceful swan to a hulking ox again.

"Hmmph. Some war dance. Gornak didn't even get to stab anyone. Hope Saul was watching, though."

Sevegny attends to the gravely injured, regardless of whether they be friend or foe.

The cleric tries her best to stop the bleeding of the One-eyed Woman and the thug near her, but is unable to do so. If healing magic or a successful Heal check is not applied very soon, they will both bleed out.

One by one the sight of the patrons and staff of the Gold Goblin returns. Almost to the man everyone starts heading for the front doors, not even caring to cash in chips.

The door to the cashier's opens, and Saul Vancaskerin comes back in flanked by two bodyguards. Surveying the chaos and mess around him he blurts out, "What in the seven hells happened here? What's going on?"

Gornak walks up to Saul and throws out his mighty chest.

"Some jerks try to steal gold. Gornak stopped them. And some other people help." He points to himself proudly.

Thumparr walks over and retrieves his axe, barely glancing at the dying woman. As he tucks his axe back in his belt he looks at Saul and says, "This wench here," he points to the dying woman on the floor, "and her lover boy there," he points to the Chelixian, "along with a bunch of their thugs, tried to rob ye and everyone else. Yer guards were useless and like Gornak said, we stopped 'em. A few of the hired thugs got away; went through that door right there. If yer quick enough, ye still might be able to catch 'em."

Inwardly cursing at failing to stop the bleeding of the two bandits, Sevegny casts a healing prayer on the woman. Then she tries to re-bandage the man.

Beriadan nods his head in confirmation of the dwarf's words as he pulls his dagger from the wood of the podium and replaces it in the boot sheath kept in his left boot. Then, as he sheathes his rapier, the elven ranger continues "Fortunately for you, 'the wench' and 'her lover boy', as the dwarf calls them, seem to be the leaders of this raiding group, so you might be able to learn much from them." With the action over, Beriadan lets his heart rate drop to normal as he composes himself and acts as a man who didn't care what outcome occurred from the amatuerish assault.

(Male Human Inquisitor of Abadar)

Kappasc grumbles as he rubs his eyes which still have some stars floating across them from the prolonged effects of being blind. Dismissing his hand of the apprentice, Kappasc moves toward the rest of the group. Obviously irritated, Kappasc somewhat rudely butts in interjecting, Im just as lost as you...uh...Saul...I heard the murmuring of a shrink item spell, but was otherwise rendered pretty much useless for that...fight...

Your comments to Saul are quickly drowned out by a growing roar coming from the gambling hall patrons. Enraged they demand their chips be cashed in. The arguments become louder and start to take on a more aggressive tone until Vancaskerkin intervenes. He jumps up on a chair and then onto the podium that once held his treasure chest.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he shouts, "can I have your attention! I apologize profusely for the interruption of your game." At this more people begin yelling at him, demanding their money back.

Saul looks despairingly as a number of his guards decide that they're not being paid enough for this, and start stripping off their outlandish attire and heading for the door. The owner's options are starting to quickly dwindle.

"Please, please, folks, try to remain calm," he pleads with the crowd. As a token of my goodwill, please be assured that your chips can be turned in for 110% of their value. Please see the cashier, and he will happily cash you out."

This seems to take the crowd by surprise and quiets them a bit. They quickly decide that this is probably a better deal than they would have gotten in the tournament, and head for the cashier's room.

Having seemingly avoided a near riot, Vancaskerkin approaches your group. "Well," he mumbles, "that was quite something you did. I am in your debt."
