Sad Rock shakes his head, he has no further questions. He thought his last question was a good one if the girl really wanted to be safe. He keeps his stony mouth shut.

Egmund calmly re-asks his last question about if there are any threats that her escorts should know about.

Lady Dacilane shrugs her shoulders. "The threats you will face? Best ask Venture-captain Dreng. I do not concern myself with such matters."

As she finishes her sentence, Lady Dacilane’s daughter comes bounding down the stairs and into the sitting room. She has her mother’s height, black hair, and fine facial features, but that’s where the similarities end. Unlike her mother’s carefully coiffed hair, Junia’s is short and practical, and she carries herself with a confident and unladylike swagger. She is dressed in grey breeches, knee-high leather boots, a white cotton shirt, and an azure blue riding coat with tails with a golden eagle pin on the lapel. Beneath her coat, it is clear that she is wearing a mithral chain shirt.

DC 15 Knowledge (local):
She is attempting to look like a member of the Eagle Knights of Andoran, although her dress is obviously homemade.

Upon arriving in the drawing room, Junia clicks her heels in a military manner and greets her mother with a mischievous grin. Lady Dacilane immediately turns bright red with embarrassment, and stutters “What a ridiculous outfit to wear in front of our guests!” She throws up her hands and storms out of the room without another word.

Junia smiles at a job well-accomplished and walks up to introduce herself. "Hi, it's an honor to meet all of you. I'm J., like the letter." She shakes everyone’s hand.

"I've read so much about you!"

J's eyes grow wide when the oread greets here. She doesn't quite know what to do with his first, so just ends up shaking it with both hands. "It's very nice to meet you, Sad Rock. You are certainly not a monster, but what kind of creature are you?"

To Lilybeth, J replies: "You mean in Pathfinder Chronicle, volume 69? I have that volume, and even had it autographed by the original team that recovered me seven years ago!" Her enthusiasm then switches to playful flirtation: "But what is your name? Judging by your willowy figure, I would guess it would be some kind of flower, perhaps?"

Davnet observes the mother-daughter relationship quietly, and wonders what the outfit symbolizes. At her introductions, he snaps his heels together as well, in a poor imitation of her salute. "Greetings, J. I am Davnet Dragos, and I am pleased to make your acquaintance."

At Lilybeth's barrage of questions: "Gently, gently. J will have much time to answer questions of history, but for now we should concentrate on questions of future." He turns to J again. "Excuse me, J, but are there any preparations you would like to make before we go? It would seem wise to leave at first light, to maximize our daylight."

Well, she certainly doesn't seem traumatized. There is tension between mother and daughter, though. Perhaps there is a dead person present, and thus customs have been altered?

J seems to take Lilybeth's rapid barrage of questions in stride, answering them with ease. "Yes, during my decade in the crypt I was unconscious and did not age, either mentally or physically, or if I did it was so minor as to basically be unnoticeable. I was eleven when the earthquake happened, and even though by my birth records I am now 28 years old, my family and I find it easier to think of me as 18. I certainly don't feel 28. I’m ready when you are.

Dreng clears his throat loudly as J suits up in preparation to leave. "Well, it seems you have things well in hand here" he mumbles to no one in particular. "If you'll excuse me, I am needed back at the Grand Lodge." He pulls out a large, iron key, and hands it to one of you. "This will open the wrought-iron gates at the Tri-Towers Yard. Be warned, although the necropolis below has been cleared of undead, the partially restored surface structure still holds a dangerous haunt. Try to stay away from there,” he mutters, “we’ve tried to eliminate it several times, but it keep coming back. If you do need to go in there for whatever reason, take a look in the supply closet just inside the gate, you may find it useful."

Without pausing for any further questions, Dreng makes his way out the front door.

As the door slams behind him, J looks expectantly at all of you.

Egmund gears himself up to deliver what seems like a memorized speech. He turns directly to Junia and locks eyes with her as if willing her to understand what he is trying to convey,

Before we being there are some details I would like to go over that you need to understand. We are all here to safeguard you during this visit to the Tri-tower yard.

We are skilled at getting into and out of places like the Tri-tower yard. Pathfinders do things like this frequently but there is no way that we can guarantee your or our safety.

But if you work with us we can work to minimize any issues that may arise.

It is possible that there will be situations that put you in serious danger.

My goal in those situations will always be to see to your personal protection.

In the moment we may not have the time to explain the reasons behind our actions. We will certainly explain things after the situation is resolved and we are certain of your safety but in the moment if one of us says to do something, do it.

Do not ask questions.

Do not stop to think just do it as best as you can.

In order to keep you safe we will need to ensure that the areas we go into are reasonably safe. This will mean that one of us needs to clear an area before you go into it. It may also mean that some areas will simply be to risky for us to enter.

We do know that there is an active haunt in the Tri-Tower yard and there have been reports of unread.

It also means that before you interact with anything unusual one of us will need to clear that as well.

Please talk to us and let us know what you want to do or are thinking of doing before you do it. Our goal if your safety and if you communicate with us we can hopefully accomplish what ever it might be that you want to do. It will likely take longer than you might hope and will require your understanding and patience. Pathfinders are creative people and if there is something that you need to accomplish we can usually figure out a way to make that happen, if you talk to us.

It would also be helpful if you stayed close to one of us at all times.

This is all to keep you safe and give you the best chance of returning home.

Our venture captain Drandle Dreng has brought us in here as a favor to your mother. So be aware that we will be reporting back to him and her after this mission is completed.

Before we begin I need you to really think about and answer something, should you die during this mission do you want to be brought back to life?

For this mission there will be no cost to you or your family for this service.

After getting through that he waits for Junia's response and continues to hope that she understands.

After he finally finishes she closes her mouth and looks around at the other Pathfinders with a "is this guy for real?" expression on her face. Realizing that he must be "for real", she thinks about things for a moment, then answers.

"Would I like to get raised? If my mother thinks I'm worth it, yes. Otherwise, do I have to sign somewhere? Perhaps in blood? My mother is an Asmodean, you know, she takes signing in blood very seriously, even without a phistophilus around."

She looks around at the group, searching for someone who will lead the way.

"Who will lead us to the Precipice Quarter?"

There are two main ways of reaching the Precipice Quarter from the Ivy District. The most direct route is through the mercantile Coins district and then along the edge of the Merchant’s Quarter. The second is through the Foreign Quarter and then through the Docks.

DC 10 Knowledge (local) that can be made untrained:
Today is a market day, which means that the Coins are packed with shoppers and merchants. On the other hand, even though there will be less traffic in the Docks, going through that neighborhood is not without its risks, as it is one of the city’s rougher districts.

Egmund smiles briefly at Lilybeth's question.

I don't have a poem that explains it but it was a poem that helped me finally understand how to do it. In the late 42-hundreds the poet Shams-ud-Din wrote:

He closes his eyes as he recites.

My weary heart eternal silence keeps
I know not who has slipped into my heart
Though I am silent, one within me weeps.
My soul shall rend the painted veil apart.
Where art thou, Minstrel touch they saddest strings
Till clothed in music such sorrow sings,
My mournful story from thy zither sweeps.
Know thy beauty to mine eyes was dear.
Sleep has forsaken me, and from birth
Of night till day I weave bright dreams of thee ;
Drunk with a hundred nights of revelry.
Where is the tavern that sets forth such cheer!
My heart, sad hermit, stains the cloister floor
with drops of blood and sweat and anguish dire;
Ah, wash me clean, and o'er my body pour
Love's generous wine! The worshipers of fire
Have bowed down and magnified thy name
For in my heart there burns a living flame,
Transpiercing Death's impenetrable door.

There are few people who can bring the dead back without spells and even less to learn from.

Most of my time in the Society has been me working to get to the point that I could do it myself.

It wasn't something I could think my way through. I am not that smart. I had to feel it.

Shams-ud-Din's poetry helped me get to the depth of feeling needed to make it work."
