Xûll exults as the man is knocked down, letting go of his rage and panting somewhat as the typical fatigue covers him. At first he holds his hands in the air, until he realizes that most of those in the crowd bet against him. That should be good for Renvar's pockets at least. Ah, thin man approaches. What is it being with Xûll and thin men?

"Me be thanking you for informations. Me hoping you be betting on right fighter? You not seem to being so disappointed as others," Xûll continues to chat to the man, grateful for the information before moving off to the meeting point for he and his companions in the center of town.

"The house always wins" he retorts with a wiry grin. "Look me up if the mood for a fight strikes you again.". The thin man blends into the crowd, as Xull is left with his thoughts.

Renvar comes running up to him, fried cake on his cheek, and sugar down his tunic. "Xull, that was GREAT! Glad I bet on you, although most down share my sentiments. Keep on eye on your back, my new friend."

The locals at the beer tent listen raptly to Pooka's stories. "What is a great fighter like you doing in a little town like Dawntown? "The worldwound is on my list, don't get me wrong friend. I've heard stories of just how brutal it is. I know some veteran captain will scold me on my naivete, but I am anxious to pit my cold iron against the demons. To see just how strong a dog and his rider can be. I'm also pragmatic enough to know I might not make it back. So I might as well make a detour and enjoy a beer garden and a little extra entertainment while I can, you know what I mean?" Pooka says with a smile. He thinks about elbowing the man, but his stature prevents that from being anything but awkward, so he resists the urge.

"So what is it about a hanging that gets you so riled up? It's apparently the thing to do around here. Hey keep, can we get another round here?"

The halflings buys his table a round. They toast to his health, blow the foam off the tankards, and tip the warm lager down their throats. This greatly improves the mood around him, and before he knows it, they begin a bar ballad in his honor,

"Pooka used to spin his blades,
Now he buys the drinks,
He tells stories of killing apes,
and wanting to fight the hordes,
we know he's full of it,
put don't want him to go,

So Pooka, buy the drinks,
So Pooka, drink the drinks,
So Pooka, tell the tail,
So Pooka, may your blade n'ver fail!"

The other patrons, inhibitions loosened from the strong brew, lean over and whisper to Pooka during the hour he spends drinking with them before leaving to rendezvous with his comrades:

"Some aren't sure the prisoners are guilty, but it is hard to get anybody to speak his mind with that inquisitor throwing accusations and the whole crowd screaming to see some necks get stretched."

"Ekira is a demon posing as an inquisitor. She's used this trick to murder ten heroes up and down the countryside, and nobody is brave enough to speak up."

As Agustus browses the wares of the town's only general store, he tries one of his famous puns with a teenage boy hustling to and fro, restocking the depleted shelves. The youth blinks rapidly at Augustus, before responding, "How much rope do you need? I have that in aisle 4."

Seeing the youth is a dead end, he makes his way over to the half-orc co-owner of the store, Orug, and his hal-elf wife Tessa. There is a small gathering of hangers on encircle them. As Augustus approaches, he can clearly hear the end of his story, "So I sees, the murderes with me own eyes, run outs to clobber thems over the heads, and BOOM, one of those nasty Pathfinders do wonked me from behind. I teels yea, I would have strung them up meselves if I didn't receive that cowardly blow. Oi' whos you be?" "Because here's the question you should be asking yourself," August now turns to include the others, speaking a slow and obviously serious tone. "If these Pathfinders just finished committing murder, why leave you alive as a witness?"

Xûll winds his way into the beer tents where he sees Pooka enjoying many libations and having songs sung about him. If the Shoanti spies anyone he recognizes from the fight, he'll buy them a conciliatory round of ales (or several) with his ample winnings.

"Mighty halfling Pooka!" greets Xûll from the other side of the table, "Pray be getting down from there and be joining your traveling companion. We are to be needing to go to town and finding place to stay, yes? Much time for to be drinking later. Me is hoping you are not being too drunk to be let into Inn..."

Xûll buys one more round for the bettors who lost in the fight, and then helps Pooka and Luna disentangle themselves from the crowd. On the walk to the town proper, Xûll encourages Pooka to wait with his information until everyone is together and in private.

Sun walks into the common room, showing a look of wonder and awe at both the amount of people present as well as the size of the establishment. "This is quite unexpected," Sun says under his breath as he walks over to the barkeeper.

"Greeting good Sir or Madam Do you have any room available? I can see that you are quite busy and hopefully are not filled for the night. These old bones sure could use a soft bed for the night," he says in a slightly loader voice than usual trying to break over the awful din on the common room. "Oh, and dinner of course. Bread seems likely to. Oh, and I am no sir. Hopnar is the name." He turns back to his ledger, and notices that Sun is dallying from departing. He once again turns his gaze upon the old druid.

"Suppose you one of them hangers come to see the hobos swing. Stay out of trouble, keep the drink under control, and treat my inn like you would your mom's wedding day plates."

Hopnar's tone suggests that his suggestions is more of a command than anything else.

Sun approaches a less filled table, and wearily sinks into the chair. Before too long, a young woman, barely out of her teens, approaches Sun's table. Her wavy blonde hair is pulled hastily into a make shoift pony tail, and she is dressed better than most pesant girls Sun has seen since entering into Dawntown. All of those checks have the same bonus for Xûll. I was hoping to avoid lying but...

Xûll bluff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

"Holy Druid Sun Desin has good idea for tomorrow. Herb shop is where Sun belong. We should be heading to farm together, though. Tonight, me thinks," suggests Xûll, "Is best lead and we should be poking around for informations. If we are encountering angry farmer, we should be running or putting to task with hard questions. Yes?"

"Demon worshiping Farmer? Demon's these days, lowering their standards. But that is besides the point."Sun says with disdain, but waves his hand at the thought of poor upbringing demons. "I can create a small amount of mist to maybe help get us in our out, thought I fear I can only do it for one or the other. As for the sneaking portion, do we all want to go or only portions of the group? Smaller groups can be more sneaky than big ones. I think Augustus over there is a for sure member. I might be able to as well, but if it turns sour I fear Augustus would have to do the brunt of the work. Not that you'd mind of course, bashing a couple heads in, right?"

Just in case it moves ahead before I post again, I have the spell 'detect snares and pits' prepared for the day. I'd like to make sure if the opportunity arrives where my character draws close to a building to active the spell as a ward for silly farmer traps

"Me be having potion that be helping with sneaking. Me can be leaving armor behind, also," Xûll considers deeply, "Is perhaps best if we be hanging back while Augustus-Aeyon-Though-Everyone-Call-Him-August-For-Short be going in ahead. We can be coming to aids if there is being need."

That roll is for mechanics - don't worry about it. You will make one each day. Reminder - describe what you are doing tonight, debrief, and move your tokens in position for tomorrow. When you are ready we will begin Day 5 - Morning

Can't we stake out and search the farm tonight? Really seems like the sort of thing to do under cover of darkness, and I see no reason to delay!

Sorry - missed that. It is your adventure. If you want to investigate the farm, go right ahead. I feel it is important for you all, in character, debrief first, and then come up with a plan: retire for the night and continue to investigate in the morning, head to the farm tonight, or whatever you want.

The Pathfinders, seeing most of the populace begin the trek home, or retire for the night, notice the crowd thin considerably in the tap room. Kellinbur makes his apologies, and making one last lingering gaze for Harima, and heads out. The Pathfinders, wanting to be more private, head for their newly rented room. There they find the furnishings sturdy, clean, and unadorned. They do a through search of the room, find nothing, and begin comparing notes of the days events. As they talk, they continually check for eavesdroppers.

Love the level of built-in paranoia in your descriptions!

"Me be forgetting to be telling friends of findings," apologizes Xûll after oddly throwing out a sketchy plan to stalk a farmer, "Me has been discovering that farmer (owner of farm where bodies were being found) is not being too shocked at killings. Farmer is named Otto, and his behavior is being too normal. Me is hearing further that Otto is perhaps being worshipping demons at farm. Is like that there is being some truth to these rumors, and we are definitely needing to be investigating this. This is why me is to be suggesting sneaky mission to farm."

Xûll waits patiently for the others to deliver their findings.

You should understand that with the murders, there is a lot of paranoia out there
