Bloody Snowflakes: A VTM20 Chronicle (Inactive)

Game Master Ridge

The city of Perle Perdu, Louisiana has always been the poor cousin to more famous New Orleans. Like that city, Perle Perdu faced devastation, driving many out of their homes for a time. Now they have finally recovered. But then, that's just one side of the story. The vampires have been rebuilding too, and their Mad Prince knows what a prize she has now that the population to feed on has returned. Whether plot or insanity is the cause, she has spurned entry from any new comers of the 7 Camarilla Clans in favor of far rarer bloodlines in the name of Cainite Diversity.

You are one of those rarities

Arthur knocks back the double and smiles at Damien, "My thanks, let me know what the damage is.

Tell me, while it seems we have some time for small talk, what led you to seek out a business such as this? Fine vintages? I've never quite seen it's like".

Damien waves a hand, "Don't worry about it. What you wanted is easily replaced."

Switching to the subject of how he entered his current business Damien says, "I suppose it started off with the last profession I had while I was still mortal. I was the feature bartender at a club in town back in the eighties and my talents happened to catch the eye of my Sire, Delacroix. It would seem you are not familiar with the fact that there are a number of Kiasyd owned clubs like this one around the world. Delacroix wanted to open one of his own here in the States. Long story short, eventually Delacroix and I parted ways...a bit forcefully...and I returned home, which happens to be here. I had the training and the start of my collection of rare and interesting vitae and the rest is, as they say, history."

I rarely hunt in such places, I don't have the talents for it. My prey are predators. Those that stalk their fellow man. The wicked would cull our herd so I cull them instead.

The way they offered themselves to him set Paolo's mind to spinning ways to shape both women into useful instruments. It had to wait for other nights.

Indeed, the beast in him contemplates how he could reforge them just so. Contessa is a beautiful woman, and that was a form of power beyond just her wealth. And Daphne's strong will might be an asset and not a hindrance if used properly, and her growing legal education could make her quite handy if he wanted to allow her to continue down that path.

So much to consider-later.

Contessa nods "Thank you." a bit of hardness in her eyes. She does want her old love avenged.

I'll do my best to keep in touch, but with how things are going it probably can't be every night for a while."

They both look dissapointed when he mentions there maybe nights without him, especially Contessa, but they nod and assure they'll let him know if anything odd happens.

Paolo Costa- Night 4! All Good Shadows Must Rise

Paolo spent the ride considering roads forward and hoping there wasn't a new calamity tonight. He still needed to get his new office set up and see about repairs and insurance on the house and... This was never going to end. Assuming no new threats, the priorities for tonight needed to be asking Father about Contessa and feeding. Then the electronics -new replacements ordered too- and the house.

He could just relocate to Contessa's, but Paolo knew that if he didn't repair his house they would start looking for him elsewhere. It would also reduce property values and he could hardly afford that now.

Getting out of the Uber, he paused just a moment to watch the Ravnos enter the Fields of Nephilim ahead of him. Probably nothing, but you never could trust that sort and he had refused Paolo's offer of help. He entered decently behind the other kindred.

Sheriff Alicia Hunter waits for each of the 'rare bloodlines' here to come up, and while drinks are prepared by Damien and served by the ghoul Lydia.

Then she speaks, "As many of you know, but to make sure we are all on the same page: A Sabbat pack is in the city. It first attacked the Lakeside Restaurant, and there created a group of shovelheads. Those shovelheads were sent out to disrupt the masquerade, to spread chaos, and test our defenses. often the anarchs bear the brunt of this sort of attack, and have been tolerated because they are a buffer. But last night, the Anarchs withdrew. And the Sabbat shovelheads did great damage, while the core pack of experienced Sabbat attacked the Tattered Veil, and granted the Keeper of that Elysium final death. JJ of the Toreador is no more, but it is the prince's intent that you will all aid in avenging her loss."

Alyson stands in the back, wordlessly, and clearly uneasy.

How are they so trusting of someone offering bottled blood - it seems careless., she focuses her mind in a different direction...finding fault with the proprietor and his clientel, so that she could distract herself from her own shortcomings.

Yes setting the building on fire would be a bad move for the likelihood of our survival as well. Where is this building?

Gear would be of great aid to be sure. However, it is our own abilities that will be of the greatest value. We know we face a Setite, Loa Joe. An Assamite. A Malkavian. A Tzimisce. And potentially two to four more. I would not be surprised if one were a Lasombra.

The Setite likely cannot be staked. The Assamite may well be able to turn invisible. The rest no surprises. I've at least 5 stakes for the Professor's prize.

I have power over time as well I can speak with the dead. Perhaps, I can use my power to ask one of the dead to scout the building from beyond the shroud to get a sense of their numbers.

What can the rest of you do? "

How much blood is being provided? Paolo would like a fill-up. :)

Paolo didn't consider refusing the invitation. He didn't love to share his abilities either, but this couldn't be helped.

"If there is a Lasombra among them, you should know we touch more than darkness. You may not be able to rely upon Disciplines to pierce it."

"I am not a man of war," Paolo said candidly. "But the Abyss is with me. Drawing them near to it will weaken them...but it would not be discreet."

Paolo can use Obten to suck a die off one target's stamina rolls (soak included) or knock two off all of them in an area. But doing that is more costly and will blind and hit everyone, fireball style.

"Do you believe that you can neutralize whatever Lasombra they have?

You certainly take the most risk in going as no doubt you are one of the trophies they wish to claim. I am not sure whether you should be bait to lure them out or come in last..."

Arthur pauses and grins, "Can you attain the shadow form? We could bring you in under a trench coat as a surprise. Can those arms of yours be utilized in that form as well?"

Damien listens intently to the ongoing plans. Going against an experienced pack? I'm not so sure I like this idea. I'm a f*%%ing bartender not f#*@ing Rambo...

"She has already turned you over, though she did not like it," The Sheriff says, her Jamaican accent light "Call if you wish to confirm, but be quick about it, please, Miss Reed"

The sheriff continues, "We know the location tonight, that location may change tomorrow. So speed is required and we cannot simply have them wiped away by ghouls. And daylight attacks are not a sure thing because of that and other matters." She nods, "I will not be with your coterie, other tasks await me. For now, you are all hounds in my service. "

Damascus Lethe says "I know the Prince is…a firm believer in our prowess, but at least half of us are not exactly proficient to use the weapons you'll be handing us. How big a prize are we counting on for living through this?"
"That depends on how it turns out, Mister Lethe," Alicia Hunter says.

Mi-Ha swallows, "I will go to heal but, killing is… I am not sure." Then she looks at the others, "To answer Arthur's question, I can do some healing. My senses are heightened."
"Trickery, illusion, I can take a hit," Lethe shrugs.

"Strong, I fly, and I am not to afraid to fight," Betty says, looking to the sheriff, "My bloodline was used to fight by the Tremere. Now I can fight to better myself? Good deal. I will protect Miha and Alyson." She slurs a bit as she speaks and looks over at the other two women among the Hounds with a nod, "I am also tough."

"Only if I blinded them first. Not being able to see at all should make things difficult for them, though not impossible. The enemy would see through the Abyss which they call, but not mine. It's just the same in reverse."

Arthur Carter wrote:

"I'm sure that I am," Paolo said, smiling. "I would make excellent bait." Bait that would have surprises at the ready. Bait that might warrant additional consideration.

"You are a scholar of the blood," Paolo said. "I can, but the Abyss is not a tame thing easily hid. Parts of my head may fade in and out of it as well as my body. Perhaps with a hood as well as the coat. I can control the arms to keep them concealed." he took a drink of the vitae. "But that communion has its price."

"Returning to the matter of bait, I know for a fact that the Sabbat already has an interest in me. One of them has observed my haven in past nights, competent and armed." Paolo made a quick calculation. He should not tell them where he slept, but the location was already known to the Prince and his domain was public knowledge. His name was on the deed. It wouldn't be hard for them to put it together. "And also prone to arson, as it happens. He burned my haven last night."

tonight will be a shame. A young arab student is going to succumb to ISIS. He is going to go to a local construction company and steal explosives. The company of course will collect handsome insurance from the damages he does. He will wear mirror sunglasses and be listening to loud music and be wearing a too large suit and knock on a door proclaiming "Jehovah Witness." The sabbat pack inside will find this funny and open the door and our poor student will explode. In the clean up aftermath it will be found that the ISIS attack happened by mistake on a drug biker gang for a good feel evening news story

"No need, Sheriff, I trust you.", Alyson bows to the Jamaican, then turns to Arthur as she continues talking:"Obviously, you are more experienced, but do explain, if that is not their choosen place of residence, and they will relocate for the next day, what makes you think they will be waiting for us there, rather than be out, checking for a new place to stay? Worse yet, IF they are waiting for us, why would we want to go in there? I mean, they would be waiting for us in that case. Couldn't we, like, siege them? Make sure they don't go out? Besides, I would appreciate if you refrained from trying to play the 'Good Christian' card without understanding what it even means to believe. The crusades are long past, and murder in the name of religion is so...stupid. I may not be the smartest gal but I can see if someone attempts to blatantly manipulate me."
When the Tzimice speaks up, obviously having picked up on the religious murder-theme, Alyson seems shocked:"But what about the student? He would die!" Quickly realizing that likely, half of those present didn't care wether humans died or not, she follows up:"If it looks like a terrorist attack, the campus will be crawling with homeland security trying to screen his background and shed some light on what happened. Do you really want that?"

the homeland security will find nothing there and quickly find his written notes concerning wanting to join along with the camera footage at the construction site which will be owned by one of our kind in town so as not to get the young lad taken down early. No this will work and we wont have to do a front assault on an experienced sabbat pack

"It's a sensible plan...but messy. How could we assure we had control of the scene long enough to clean up before the police arrived? And the heightened scrutiny for some time after may get in the way of further smoothing things over. If anything, we should try to be sure it's not ISIS to minimize exposure from the national media."

"Ms. Reed. Songbird. Alyson. Tell me what you prefer I call you and I shall do so. It is clear to me that you are still riled up from my comment regarding the origins of your blood. I suggest you let it go, turn the other cheek as Jesus would do. If you are unable to, we can debate the matter further another time as I believe you misunderstood what I was attempting to explain to the Prince.

And my dear, do share your talents with us, if we do not know what you can do, how best can we decide how you can provide the maximum aid for the minimum risk to yourself. Whether you like me or not is of no concern of mine but as we are a part of a Coterie now, however temporary that may be, your safety in seeing this through is my concern.

Now, to your question. They are a nomadic pack, by their very nature they change Havens constantly. They are in a hostile environment they would be foolish not to and this particular pack is very much not foolish. I saw their handiwork first hand in the siege of Atlanta, the last place I encountered them. Then I was posing as an Anarch to blend in as the existence of my Clan, Bloodline, was still only an ancient Legend.

Where they lie by day is due in large part to their next objective, whatever that may be.

The reason why, if we hurry, they will still be there is because the Sabbat generally have very little or no Humanity or are on Paths of Enlightenment. Which are essentially Vampiric Philosophies as to how to conduct ones self. In either case, they wake up generally later than Camarilla Vampires do, the sun holds them more firmly in their slumber. They will await the rising of the entire pack, take Blood Rituals, and then move on.

A good question. You sell yourself short, you are intelligent my dear. I do not think they will be necessarily "waiting" for us but they will be on alert, they are after all, in a war zone of their own devising. Still, that does not mean that with the right approach we cannot at least have some sort of tactical advantage. We do not know their numbers so having some advantage is better than no advantage.

One more wrinkle, there is an Assamite among them, if we attempt to contain them within and the Assamite can cloak others, they can flank us creating a two front battle we will not want to face as those of you in the back will be ill equipped to handle a physical confrontation with that particular Clan. Betty will need to be up front with me and likely Paolo.

It is not an attempt to manipulate you but an attempt to persuade you that this cause is the right cause. Thus, I appeal to your strong sense of morals to join us in stamping these vile creatures out".

Arthur turns to the Sheriff, "If you condone the use of explosives do you have any handy? That would certainly turn the odds of success in our favor".

"An excellent point. Fire or no, the explosives would draw unwelcome eyes. To be honest, I don't see any way out of this that doesn't involve getting our own hands dirty."

Marcus scratches his chin and then says not burning the building down or blowing the area to hell does induce some limits. However Arthur, I still do not favor assault even from the roof. There are some chemical assaults that would do little to the building but much to its inhabitants. For instance pumping hydrochoric acid into their fire sprinkler lines from further down and then turning them on. I can think of several other useful chemicals if you find this idea difficult, and before you say it cannot be done, remember that I simply need one human with access to carry out my will anywhere
