I know Dominic said he'd be in & out, but where's Grim?

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

He posted four days ago, our pace is generally pretty lax so nothing to worry about yet

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

If I'd have been thinking I'd have bought some candlerods as glow sticks.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Can Dominic, Sigmund, and Grim check in?

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

I had been waiting for Grim to post, but it seems he may not be coming.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Apologies.

I sent Grim a PM but I have not heard back. I will give him a little while longer before removing him

Yeah sorry been super sick recently

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

WB Grim

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

I will give Sigmund until sometime tomorrow to post before resolving the round

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

Sorry about that. My new hotel job is eating all my free time and my pbp games all kinda fell on the backburner. Updating now.

Inactive

I won't be able to post in the next few day, most probably until the 29th (I have thesis defense soon). Feel free to bot me.

Break a leg!

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

Good luck

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

Just wanted to say that this game is making me want to get a Playstation.

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

Really sorry for all the missed posts guys, I got a new phone but forgot to sign into paizo with it, so I kept checking for updates and seeing nothing.

Yeah that'll happen

They've been out a while so it probably wouldn't be terribly expensive and there's plenty of other fun games on that platform

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

What do? There's the spooky jar and you've got a key now

I assume we go through the locked door, now that we have a key.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Test

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

Man what is up with the boards lately?

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

It looks like they're back online. So... yay?
Glad to see we still have Sigmund at least. Hopefully the others will show up too.

Not totally sure what to do here except stick the heart in the robot and get killed by it. Does not seem smart.
So we lock up the robot and take the heart back to home base? I assume those churchy-workshoppy types would have some curiosity about it. Even if it doesn't have eyes.

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

As an alternative we examine the liquid seeping on the floor and Sigmund will discover that if one burns the gas the liquid gives off it ignites. He names this liquid gasoline and promptly sells it becoming extremely wealthy.

Obviously a side effect of whatever dark ritual Paizo is using to conjure second edition.

=============

Obviously I had intended to post more in the meantime but the sudden and continuous removal of our means of communication has served as both an impediment and reminder that should the internet ever disappear we are all well and truly f***ed.

Resuming posting shortly.

Finally, the boards are online. It's even worse than usual. Just how old is their software and servers?

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

My brother and I have a theory that the recent troubles are the Gods punishing Paizo for Pathfinder 2.0

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

I haven't heard many good things.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

To be entirely honest, and I say this as someone running Pathfinder right now, I don't like Pathfinder. I don't much like Paizo as a company either. The main reason I play it is that until very recently it has pretty much dominated the market. 2E is my out since it'll divide the current playerbase between people who want to stick with the current edition and people who will want to move on, and frankly DnD 5e will probably take over as the top game (not that I like it much either).

Doesn't help my opinion that their change to the boards UI broke a bunch of stuff and we're still dealing with these nearly week long downtimes.

HP:57/57 l AC: 20 T: 18 FF: 18 l Fort: +6, Ref: +9, Will: +5 l, CMD: 20 l Perception +10, Sense Motive +9| initiative +4

I like pathfinder but really dislike Golarion and Paizo.

Inactive

And it went offline shortly after my post. Paizo, what the hell?

Pathfinder is somewhat bloaty, but it's nice enough. It doesn't have some cool options 3.5 had, but it has its own advantages. Especially if you use Spheres of Power instead of vancian casting. Speaking of which, I'm so disappointed they didn't do anything with it in PF 2e. Come on, at least bring it to the level of DnD 5e, which is much better. Never understood this "cast a spell - forget it" prepared casters' mechanic. Spheres of Might and Power - one of the best things happened to PF.

Anyway, I hope they'll fix their site problems. I still have two games to finish playing here, before moving on another forum for good.

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

I agree that Spheres save Pathfinder. The vancian stuff can be nostalgic sometimes, but... eh.
I'm playing some Mutants & Masterminds on another board (that doesn't go down) and so far I'm enjoying that system.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

IMO Pathfinder/DnDs biggest advantages were always the quality of the product itself (hardcover books with full cover art), the size of their catalogue, and the size of their playerbase. I'm sure I could nitpick endlessly all the things I don't like with the system which is one of the reasons I won't play anything that is starting at first level or doesn't allow a reasonable amount of third party content or other character options to help breath some life into things. Especially in PbP where it can take months if not years to get some levels under your belt.

I've always been a proponent of trying new systems for ghe hell of it, though I never had a huge amount of success here on the forums with that (a few people were always interested to be fair and some of the games did get off the ground for at least a little bit). I've yet to get groups going for some of my favorite games which is probably more an issue with me sticking to the paizo forums primarily. The tools it offers for pbp and recruitment are convenient. I've looked at Giant in the Playground and Roll20 as other options but I've ended up avoiding them so far cause I don't want to go through building my post count all over

Inactive

Yeah, there are tons of system I'd like to try out too, but there aren't any GMs around. The only thing left is to try and GM one of those myself, I guess. Maybe someday I'll gather my willpower and try it. And to choose something I really like, as the previous attempt in GMing one of PF modules didn't go so well.

As for PbP options - Myth-Weavers is great, it has all the tools you need for PbP (private messages in the thread, specialty dice like FFG or Fate, threads groups, lots of formatting options, etc).

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

The thing I really like about paizo forums is Aliases which are super convenient for organizing things (along with campaign groups). I haven't looked at mythweavers

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

The aliases really are super handy. I don't know why other boards don't have them.
I've been using RPG Crossing and it's passable. You can have character sheets linked to your profile.

Hey guys glad to see the forums are back online.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

Alright looks like everyone has survived the downtime so far

Inactive

The forum seems to be back online, that's good. Let's hope there won't be any more mishaps.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

What do?

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

All right, I'll wrap up this dungeon this coming week.

How's everyone feeling about the content of the game so far? Anything you'd like to see more or less of? I have a few more "sessions" planned but I can change that depending on what ya'll are feeling

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

I like it. It feels linear without feeling like we don't have any agency, so that's nice. And it's a great universe so far.

Inactive

I like it too. Will we know in the future about this armor suit and jar?

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

What do you know about them so far? Any theories?

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

So my silly little working theory is that there would be no reason to trap this place against ordinary people. No, I think whoever set this whole thing up was trying to both anticipate and prepare for this very event. So I'm thinking this armored automaton may just be instrumental in saving this town, but until we know more it's a huge risk.

Spooky Skeleton Scarecrow

And the telltale heart, as it were?

Shifter 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 18 , T: 13, FF: 16 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +6/8 | Melee: +7, Ranged: +6 | CMB: +7, CMD: 19 | Init: +2, Perception: +12 <low-light, darkvision> | SP 9/9 | Speed: 30ft

I assume it goes in the thing, but I don't know whose it is. Some great hero from the past, preserved through this bizarre alchemy? I really can't say.

Naw. Whatever it is, it isn't human. I'm half-tempted to have Dominic pan-fry the thing with garlic, given his *ahem* interesting relationship to the blood.
