Male Human Cleric 14

Looks good. Thanks Valgrim!

Male Human Sorceror (Stormborn) 15

Pretty much none of that is of any use to Vulcan.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Is there anyone who has an amulet slot open for the periapt of health or the brooch of shielding?

If no one else wants it, Vug might consider the periapt of health (worm-proof-ness?) and someone can have her amulet of natural armor (which doesn't stack with barkskin anyways).

P.S. The sale price of the brooch should be 259.9 gp (35/101*1500/2).

Male Human Cleric 14

Per this discussion back in April, a periapt of health does not grant one immunity to Kyuss worms.

Feres has a brooch of shielding (88 hp remaining) that I wouldn't mind tossing into the group pot and taking Vug's amulet of natural armor if you're still looking to get rid of it.

That certainly explains why no one wanted it!

Vug'll keep the amulet, I guess, but she's happy to provide Friar Feres with a daily extract of Barkskin if he wants one.

Male Human Cleric 14

That works for me. Thanks!

No problem, golden rule of rping is keep only cleric happy and fully equipped with healing supplies!

Vug, never played an alchemist, but with Haste and Rapid Shot, can't you throw 3 bombs per round? You didn't have to move, since the map had you at O18 already.

You need the Fast Bombs discovery to throw more than one bomb per round. I've been holding off on taking Fast Bombs; it's very powerful, but I just feel it's a little cheesy. If we really start getting massacred a lot, then I'll consider taking it.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Ah, ok, makes sense. Why did you take Rapid Shot feat then? You hardly use the bow.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

I guess I took it because (a) I incorrectly thought I might have to resort to using a bow more frequently, and/or (b) I was considering taking Fast Bombs at level 8 but I decided not to, and/or (c) I couldn't think of another feat that I really wanted to take (other than yet another Extra Discovery).

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Am I the only one who was afraid that something called an oculus demon would have a gaze attack? I'm probably just still wary from all those #$%&*ing octopins...

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

It's Omox, actually. :-)

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

That's funny...where did I get the word "oculus" from?

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
There is one in Age of Worms, and there even is a thread about it. You just haven't gotten to it yet. Also I might swap it out for a Pathfinder demon.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Whoops...

I admit that I read some details about Age of Worms a few years ago, but I've been trying to forget anything I know, I swear!

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Oh, no problem. In fact I suspect that several of you know the AP better than me. :) And I think people could be more careful about putting spoilers in thread titles. In those cases, even avoiding the forums won't help.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Loot Update:

Friar: Scroll of Restoration, Scroll of Heal, Scroll of Death Ward, Scroll of Ethereal Jaunt (x2), two blocks of incense of meditation, Wand of Restoration

Bubba: +1 Light fortification light wooden shield

Vug: Three vials of Oil of Gentle Repose each containing a Kyuss worm

Valgrim: Potion of Cure Serious, Potion of Cure Moderate

Party: 4 Scrolls of Freedom of Movement (2800gp already taken out)

Unclaimed Magical Loot:
Brooch of Shielding (35 points) (259.9 gp)
Wand of Inflict Moderate Wounds (32 charges) (1440 gp)
+1 Chainmail (650 gp)
+1 Unholy club (9150 gp)
Periapt of Health (3750 gp)
Three pinches of Dust of Tracelessness (375 gp)
Sustaining Spoon (2700 gp)

Non-magical:
Trophy from 1st fight
Trophy of dwarven gladiator
Gold statuette of a human gladiator
1500 + 5000 + 10,000 + 10,000 = 26500gp (prize money)
Bag of 300 gp
One aquamarine worth 500 gp

Total = 45624.9/5 = 9124.98 each
Trophy from 1st fight
Trophy of dwarven gladiator
Gold statuette of a human gladiator
Champion's Belt

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

My two cents:

Sell the chainmail, the club, the brooch and the periapt.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Since no one claimed any of the loot listed, I sold it all. That's how we reach the 9+K loot each. If you wish to claim something, speak now or forever hold your peace, so I can modify the shares, if necessary.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

On second thought, I agree that we should sell it all. We can buy our own dang food and I misread "Inflict Wounds" as "Cure Wounds".

Male Human Sorceror (Stormborn) 15

Yeah, sell it.

Male Human Cleric 14

I'm good with selling all that's being sold.

How much did we win from our latest bets?

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Tirra's deal was bet 2500 to get 7500 (5000 gp profit), but I don't know if that was per person or for the entire team. BT will have to tell us.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

For my main shopping need, BT, since I am the principal melee fighter, I am looking to upgrade my paltry 23 AC, so I am looking at a +4 Breastplate (agile), which goes for 16550 gp. Let me know if it is available in the city.

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Tirra's deal was for the team. I'll look up what the prizes were as soon as I can. For your shopping needs the city is large enough to stock anything you can afford that is in the Core book or the APG. Anything more exotic you can run by me.

Two questions before we proceed. Is the difficulty level alright? I think so, but you have a tendency to obliterate the opposition even in tough fights. Also I wonder if we should start a new game thread, just to have a more appropriate title. On the other hand, it seems a bit pointless.

Did Vulcan level to 10, by the way? He should be catching up at some point.

Male Human Sorceror (Stormborn) 15

I'm about a thousand short

I like the difficulty level just fine, but then again I'm a fan of not dying! I'm definitely not one of those people who thinks: "If I haven't run through 10 different characters by the end of the campaign, then the GM sucks."

:-)

Also, I think it goes without saying that short(ish) fights in a play-by-post game are a good thing, not a bad thing.

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Vulcan: how about I lend you the missing xp? ;o) Go ahead and level up, it's not like you don't deserve it. Keep the xp tally as it is, though.

Friar Feres wrote:

Ok, so that means the profit from the last bet was 1000 gp each.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

In my opinion, difficulty level has been right on par. It may look skewed given the fights during the Tournament, but we were allowed to fully buff and at max strength for each fight. That makes a huge difference.

Male Human Cleric 14

+1 to what Vug and Valgrim said. I've been quite happy with the difficulty level and everything about this game in general.

I'm also happy with staying in the same game thread. I like keeping the original title - it reminds us of where and how we started.

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Well, one piece of good news is that I was wrong: the prize money for winning the tournament is actually 20 000. I'm not sure if you cashed in any money except for your bets but the total winnings is 37 000.

And I've had quite fun seeing you trash the opposition. :o) AW is a brutal AP and it only gets worse as it goes on. The 3.5 to Pathfinder power-up comes in handy there. Also there are of course five of you and I haven't really adjusted the encounters.

Just nice to hear that you are all still on board. I'm happy with the campaign, and soon enough you will be going back to Wolfstone and the Whispering Cairn.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Valgrim -- that means an extra 2,000 gp each compared to what you calculated, correct?

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Actually it's an extra 2100 gp each from the amount I had calculated.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Valgrim will put his +1 breastplate of light fortification for sale for 2175 gp. Anyone in the party is welcome to buy it. If not, he will sell it to some merchant. Then he will buy the +4 breastplate (agile) and have 5970 gp left.

Male Human Cleric 14

So with the total of all items sold, the prize money, and the winnings from the last bet, we each receive 11224.98 gp. Correct?

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)
Friar Feres wrote:

No, the 11+K in treasure does not factor into its calculation the side bets. Those are separate. if you bet each round, that's an additional 4250 gp.

First fight had a cap of 250gp bet with 10-1 odds, so profit=2250 gp.
Second fight, profit=500 gp.
3rd fight, profit=500 gp
Finals, profit=1000 gp

Male Human Cleric 14

OK. Thanks!

Male Human Cleric 14

Feres sells his +1 Mithral Chain Shirt (1,050 gp) and purchases a +2 Mithral Agile Breastplate for 8,400 gp.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

BT, if possible, how many Hero Points would it cost to swap out a feat already chosen? I'm really not getting any mileage of Cleave any more at high levels.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Vug will upgrade her headband to a headband of Int +4.

Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge

Sorry, there are no provisions for swapping feats. A bonus feat costs 20 hero points.

No problem with the equipment.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

No problem. Expenditures:
+4 agile breastplate
+2 cloak of resistance
1000 gp to raise Eligos
Remaining funds: 970 gp

Vug, can you provide Valgrim with a potion of Shield daily? That +4 to AC is too sweet to pass up.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

Sure (although it's an "extract", not a potion).

Valgrim: Enlarge Person x1, Shield x1
Friar Feres: Barkskin x1
Bub: True Strike x1 (?)

Any other orders?

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Actually, I would prefer a Barkskin extract to the Enlarge Person, if that's possible.

Female Elf Alchemist (preservationist) 15

You can have both, if you want. Don't forget that Barkskin doesn't stack with your Necklace of Natural Armor, though.

Male Dwarf Ranger 12/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 HP: 178/178; AC:31; F +21; R +17; W +15 (+17); Init: +2 (+6); Percep: +27 (+29)

Cool, both will do. And I know, but +4 is a whole lot better than +1.

Male Human Sorceror (Stormborn) 15

Hp 1d6 ⇒ 5

Thanks, Vug!

Feres also spends 3,000 gp to upgrade his +1 Darkwood Shield to a +2.

Male Human Sorceror (Stormborn) 15

Headband of Alluring Charisma +4
Upgrade Bracers from +3 to +4 if possible
