Nothing specific for the Character I'm making at the moment, but there are a few of the new Weapons and some Equipment that I am keen to test out. I'll let you know as the Character comes together though, but I'm not worried if you say no. :)
Vug Vang was born and raised in the [???] Forest far to the [north/south/???]. Ever since she was young, she has been interested in playing with fire and other hazardous substances. Her alarmed parents tried to provide a more constructive outlet for her energies by apprenticing her with a wizard, but she had little interest for anything but alchemy and potions. Ultimately she was expelled from the wizard's tutelage.
A disgrace to her family, she traveled far away to human lands, earning a little money by selling potions and alchemical goods. Currently she has set up shop in a mining town, making a modest living as an assayer and occasional potion-seller while using her free time to experiment with chemicals.
She generally wears work clothes with a heavy leather apron laid over top; her clothes and armor are permeated with strange smells like sulfur and various acids, and her hair is never combed. Her personality seems a little bit unstable, even more so when she is experimenting with different mutagens. But generally she's friendly and insatiably curious (notwithstanding her unhealthy interest in fire, acid, explosives, etc.)
"Vug Vang" isn't her birth name; it's the elven term for "saltpeter". She has adopted it as her name in human lands so as not to bring further shame upon her family.
I can't find a listed amount of starting gold for an alchemist. I think that using a bard's starting gold would be reasonable, though.
I only ask because I was thinking of my Character being an escaped Slave, but obviously this doesn't fit if there is no Slavery.
Yes, slavery is illegal, but there is a fair amount of it. Only recently a brave band of adventurers broke up a slavery operation in Warwik. You could very well come from there.
How common are dwarves in this area? Is there a dwarven kingdom/settlement anywhere around?
Dwarves are not uncommon, but there is no real dwarven settlement on the peninsula. Rather dwarves make up a minority in the mostly human settlements. There is a dwarven kingdom some days' ride to the west.
Bubba and Urg will be working for Zalamandra's Emporium, which is a pleasure house that combines the services of a freak show, gambling den and brothel. Various types of enjoyment are to be found here, and many of the denizens make you feel quite normal.
Vug Vang is working for the reclusive elven mine manager Ellivan Moodnmeadow, mostly with assaying and assistance at the smelting.
Max is trying to uplift the oppressed, which so far hasn't done much else than getting him in trouble. Fortunately the high priest of Iomedae, Valkus Dun, has offered him shelter and some light duties at the temple, which has shielded him from the displeasure of the mine managers.
Valgrim is associated, as a guard and guide, with the Greysmere covenant, a delegation representing the dwarven kingdom of Thunderhold, far to the west. The mines of Wolfstone produce cinnabar and a special kind of iron ore.
Chisora I don't know enough about right now. Now the next question is if and how you know each other.
Just waiting for Chisora then. And let's see if you know each other beforehand or if I need to start a barroom brawl to get you acquainted. Not sure what kind of establishment would find all of you together though.
Oh, and not being grumpy here. Just thinking out loud. That and I have a very dry (and not very funny) sense of humor.

Sorry to keep you waiting, but it might be a couple more days before Chisora is ready. I'm off to work right now (it's 6am) for a 10 hour shift and I start at 4am tomorrow, so no late night to work on it for me. I should get a little time tomorrow night though, but won't get any sserious time until the night after that. Sorry for the delay.
Feres grew up in the city of Warwik, a foundling babe raised by the priests of the Temple of Sarenrae. Feres was always a good-natured lad, with a keen desire to aid the less fortunate. It was no surprise when he took up the vestments of a priest to spread the faith of the Healing Flame.
Father Beamus, the head of Feres' order, sent the young priest to Wolfstone to bring the light of the Dawnflower to the godsforsaken mining town. Feres has spend the past several months making various efforts to lift the spirits and enrich the lives of the oppressed people of the town; so far, he hasn't accomplished much more than drawing the ire of the mine managers. However, none of these setbacks have dampened his spirit, and the young priest always sports a merry grin and is ready with a humorous story or ribald song. His irrepressible good nature and willingness to help the downtrodden have impressed Valkus Dun, the local high priest of Iomedae, who has offered Feres shelter and some light duties at the temple, thereby shielding the young priest from the displeasure of the mine managers.
As part of his efforts in Wolfstone, Feres has begun ministering to the workers of Zalamandra's Emporium. The young priest does not proselytize, rather seeking to spread the Everlight's message more by deed than word. Feres truly cares for the well-being of the Emporium's workers, and has struck up a friendship with the two half-orcs, Bubba and Urg, who work for the establishment.

I'm liking this. Here's what I'm thinking might have happened from Urg's point of view.
Urg had deliberately avoided the clerics of Wolfstone for some time. His experience with clerics among orc tribes involved those of Gorum and Rovagug. Urg saw those clerics as killers with a lightshow. "Who needs clerics? What's wrong with a good, old-fashioned greataxe?"
So the first time Urg met Feres at the Emporium, and Feres introduced himself with a smile and a handshake, Urg did a bad job concealing his own disgust. The smile sickened Urg, who was sure that Feres would start preaching and proselytizing any moment.
Later that day, Urg was called to break up a riot in the gambling den. (Maybe Bubba was too?) Unfortunately, Urg could subdue only so many people, and was too late to save a man from being stabbed and mortally wounded. Then Feres came running in, healed the man, and saved his life. Urg's world turned over that day. Since then, Urg has had the greatest of respect for Friar Feres.
What do you think? Might it have happened that way?

Surely you should get the dot after posting with your alias, shouldn't you?
And by the way, it's kind of been bugging me that Urg could wander for a year, more or less on his own, without learning some survival skills. So I got rid of the "1 extra hp per level" and instead opted for 1 extra SKILL point per level, and used the extra skill point for Survival. My revised PC is here.

You used to get the dot after posting with an alias, but lately I've only been able to get the dot by posting with my primary avatar. Rather strange...
By the way, I like what you wrote regarding how our characters could have met.

[unlurk]That's been my experience, as well, but if I make a post with the primary avatar, I can turn around and edit the post and change to the "right" avatar for the thread and the dot seems to hold. BT, it's a good thing you didn't tell me you were starting another game -- you know I would have been trying to figure out how I was going to shoehorn another character into my portfolio![/unlurk]
What about you, Rimrock? Do you think Bubluka works in the freak show, the gambling den, the brothel, or what? I still haven't made up my own mind on the subject. Even if Urg was called upon to restore order in the gambling den, that wasn't necessarily his regular job. Maybe our employer threw us into the same department, thinking that we would work well together just because we were both half-orcs. (This, of course, would seem ridiculous to us, as we know we're not even remotely alike.)
Vug Vang does a steady stream of business with the Emporium, supplying various useful chemicals (contraceptives, abortifacients, fireworks, moonshine, you name it). She's also fascinated by the freaks, from a scientific point of view.
That looks good. I think Bubba could reasonably do a lot of chores around the Emporium, like running errands, keeping customers in a good mood, serving at tables, bartending and generally making himself useful, not to mention warming up the crowd before other performers.
That only leaves Valgrim and Chisora and they could be patrons or just friends of yours. The Emporium charges a small entrance fee, which keeps out the riff-raff. I'll get the game started quite soon.
It seems reasonable that Vug Vang and Valgrim could know each other, for example. You don't need to be bosom friends, just acquaintances brought together by a common yearning for adventure. Which you will get more of than you bargained for.

OK sorry guys, just finishing up the last of my character now. I'll then transfer it to my profile, but in the mean time I'll enter the Game Thread so we can get the ball rolling.
Basic Background - Black Tom and Max Hellspont especially to read:
Chisora comes from Warwick. She's a slave who managed to escape her Master and was found and helped by Friar Feres. He tried to convert her to Iomedae's worship, but she had secretly already begun to worship Calistria for her Revenge Portfolio. She travelled with him to Wolfstone and has been staying with him on his trips to the Emporium, although she isn't fond of the relationship he's struck up with the two Half-Orcs.
I think your method of tying Chisora's and Feres' backgrounds together sounds good. Only two minor edits - Feres worships Sarenrae, but has been given lodging by the temple of Iomedae in Wolfstone. Also, Feres (like Sarenrae) is accepting of all good deities, and can understand Chisora's desire to worship Calistria (if she let's him know about that). Therefore, he doesn't actively try to convert worshippers - he seeks to spread Sarenrae's message more by deed than word, letting potential converts seek him out.

Friar Feres:
Whoops! That's what I get for posting when I'm tired. I did read you worshipped Sarenrae, not Iomedae. :?
Calistria's maybe not quite as good as you might think, but we'll keep that one to ourselves now... ;)
She probably didn't tell him outright that she worships Calistria, but she would have dropped enough hints for him to have put two and two together, so he'd know about it.
Just checking with you: I'm posting as often as I can to keep the pace up. I hope that those of you who can't post several times a day won't feel left out of the action. I will try to see to it that you're not disadvantaged as long as you post every 24 hours on weekdays.
Works for me. My usual posting time is in the evenings (EST), and on days that I am working at home I can post at any time. It's when I'm in the office that I have trouble posting during the day.
(Now with that said, Thursday evenings may be slow posting times for me, as my availability depends on how long our town council meetings go - the past few have gone until midnight!)

Black Tom, you should definitely post as often as you want to. I've learned from other PBPs that posting often is what keeps a PBP alive, and fun. A PBP shouldn't be dragged down because a player or two fails to post often.
And you may have noticed that I HAVE been failing to post daily. A week ago, a number of things turned up in my life, and I've been too busy to check paizo.com as often as I'd like. Some of those real-life matters might be dying down now, but I'm not sure. If I fail to keep up my commitment, I do NOT want to ruin other people's fun.
Thanks for a great game guys. It's working out fine so far, at least from my perspective. I understand about real life issues, but I really appreciate if any of you'd just make a note here to tell me if you need to drop out or go absent extendedly. A few days isn't a problem. In combat I may declare a poster that hasn't posted for 24 hours to be delaying, but that's all.

My action and interaction can be sketchy sometimes simply because I'm in a different timezone. I have no problem whatsoever in being DMPC'd to move along something like combat if I'm holding everyone up.

Bad news. My place at work seems to have put a web blocker in place today which doesn't let me get to paizo.com. This morning, I could get in. During lunch, I couldn't. I can try some ways around it, which might work. It's also possible that my work will change its web blocking software. (It does so from time to time.) But it's also possible that I won't be able to post except from home, which I can't do very often.
Male Half-Orc Barbarian 2 (2462 XP, 2 hero points)
Okay, I found a few ways around it... although the only proxy site I found that lets me post has so many annoying pop-up ads. Still, it works. At least, until they change the filtering software at work again.
