Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Um, dominate person has a one-round casting time, which means it shouldn't go into effect until just before Ieana's action next round. Torch won't have any idea what she's casting, but he should still get an action before the dominate kicks in, right?
Presuming that to be the case, Torch will delay. "Hit 'em again, Hrakar!" he shouts.
If two channels are enough to drop the skeletons, or at least the one between Torch and the serpentfolk, he'll step into its space and try to attack her, using ranger's focus. Scimitar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8; cestus 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4. If Hrakar's channel doesn't drop the skeleton, Torch instead punches it with his cestus (using the same cestus rolls as above, since the numbers are identical).
Aerys D Mavato |
Round 1
Aerys attempts to run through the skeleton in front of her and make a break for the snake woman, "Vengeance will be mine." she says as she forces herself forward, her longsword ready
Std Action: CMB: Overun 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 provokes AoO, if it beats skels CMD by 5 or more the target is prone.
Move Action: Assuming Aerys moves through the skels square, she moves to L,30. When she provokes AoO from moving through threatened squares her AC=22 (Mobility)
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Will save vs compulsions: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Torch shakes off the magic, grinning with all the horrible fierceness that his scars can supply. "Gonna have to do better than that, fiend," he snarls, before punching the skeleton in front of him. Using the cestus attack, then, as stated above.
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge |
Did she just call us mammals? That can't be right. Are we mammals? Gelik tries to shake off the distraction in order to act.
Invisible Gelik casts another spell. He then waits a few moments to initiate the effects so that they won't be associated with his spell. Splashing sounds, as of a person walking through the channel of blood, are emitted just from the snake-woman's left side (from her perspective). He's hoping she will believe that some invisible enemy is approaching from her flank, and she'll be goaded into wasting actions looking for / attacking the fictitious invisible person.
Black Tom |
Torch resists the lure and destroys one of the skeletons.
The snake-woman turns her head briefly, but the lack of bloody footprints fail to convince her. She casts a spell and suddenly her shape turns a lot more vague and unclear. Blur, 20% miss chance.
Then Hrakar channels again, turning all the remaining skeletons into a fine powder. And the rest of you are up.
Will update map ASAP.
DM Shisumo |
Torch steps forward, over the shattered bones of the skeleton, and begins delivering the retribution he has been waiting for since he first awoke on the island. Ranger's focus on Ieana and 5 foot step forward, then full attack with scimitar and cestus. Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9, damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 88; cestus attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 74.
Aerys D Mavato |
Round 1 - revised
Aerys moves to the snake woman, readying to strike as she says, ""Vengeance will be mine."" Her sword swings towards the enemy.
Move action to K,30 without invoking AoO from snake woman.
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 1 = 13 damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 33
Black Tom |
The snake-woman (rechristened Iaena on the map) shrugs off your magic, takes a step back into the streaming blood and starts casting a spell. Hrakar casts Bless.
And now it's your turn.
The blood is difficult terrain, but you can easily walk through it (even if it's disgusting).
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Torch follows (5 foot step to K28) and attacks, hoping to disrupt the magic and finally see an end to this. Full attack with bless. Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 53; cestus attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 29.
Aerys D Mavato |
Aerys moves behind Torch on her way to get an advantageous position, but as she steps in the blood, she finds way made difficult, so uses her longsword once more to damage the creature. She speaks to Torch, "Try to flank her." but as she tries to attack in the revolting river of blood, she can't but be distracted by the disgusting liquid.
Move to K,27 with provoking
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 - 1 = 12 (bless,power attack) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6 (power attack)
Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 32
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge |
Gelik takes a 5' step away from the snake that appeared in front of him (more of a frightened hop really, to L31).
Sooner or later, this has to work. He mutters half-aloud, not really believing it. He then casts a quick spell, attempting to catch both of the snakes in its cone.
Color Spray again, DC 15
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Torch continues his attack, hoping against hope that somehow he will find a chink in the serpentfolk's defenses.
Third verse, same as the first. Scimitar attack, including bless: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 97. Cestus attack, including bless: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 5.
Aerys D Mavato |
Round 3
Despite allowing the snakewoman the opportunity to attack, Aerys moves around the woman with her longsword held high, slicing at her as she goes. However in dodging the attacks from the woman and her pets, Aerys found it impossible to land a telling blow.
Move action: move to I,28 to flanking position with Torch. AoO AC=22 (mobility)
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 9 (bless,flanking,power attack) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7 (power attack)
Black Tom |
Gelik knocks two of the snakes out cold and Hrakar smashes the third with his hammer. Torch manages to land a telling blow, while Iaena narrowly misses Aerys as she gets into position. Annoyed, she bites Torch again for 3 points of damage and a Fort 17 save vs poison.
Then you get to go again. Since Ralf can't really heal Torch before he is hurt, I think his action will happen after Iaena, so he's delaying rather than readying.
Ralf Pennywhistle |
Here's the relevant part of the spell description: "The target of this wordspell is protected from that alignment and receives a +2 deflection bonus to AC on attacks made from creatures of that alignment and a +2 resistance bonus on saving throws made on spells and effects from creatures of that alignment."
Aerys D Mavato |
Aerys, angered by her inability to damage the snake woman, tries once more to draw the life blood from the evil creature. Using all her strength she smashes into the scales covering her flesh, with the sharpened edge of her longsword.
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 22 (bless,flanking,power attack) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11 (power attack)
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 60
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22.
Although the wound burns briefly, Torch barely has a chance to feel the pain before Ralf's spell has settled over him and soothed away the worst of it. It might well have been that quick reaction that also kept the serpentwoman's venom from having any effect as well. Regardless, Torch doesn't hesitate, continuing his assault on her with his full fury.
Concealment means no sneak attack, sadly, even with the flank. Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 62. Crit confirm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7. Cestus attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 78.
Wow. Lookit all those nat 1s...
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge |
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge, Snake-Smasher! Gelik trumpets his victory, even though it's against lowly serpents. Realizing that he needs to learn how to throw some more powerful evocations, he follows up his mighty Color Spray with a stinging Ray of Frost at the snake-demon-lady.
ranged touch1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 4 = 13
the frosty pain1d3 ⇒ 3
Black Tom |
The snake-woman dodges Gelik's ray with preternatural agility, weaving and dodging in an uncanny snake-like fashion. Torch and Aerys land telling blows, though, and Iaena is starting to look concerned. She unleashes a wave of negative energy for 8 points of damage to you all (Will 16 halves).
Hrakar laughs a throaty laugh and channels back for 12 points. Then the rest of you are up.
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5.
Torch continues to hammer away at Ieana, given some hope by the wounds he and Aerys have delivered.
Scimitar attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 24.
Cestus attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 99.
Aerys D Mavato |
Torch, you are flanking with Aerys, so can do precision damage from your rogue class too...
Feeling the full force of the ungodly life sapping force, unleashed by the evil creature, Aerys cries aloud, "Your will fall to my sword, beast!" As she sweeps her blade down on the snake woman, just as she seems to shimmer out of existence, before returning.
Will Save 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 21 (bless,flanking,power attack) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13 (power attack)
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 9
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge |
Will 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 <-- irrelevant roll!
Ow! Ooooh. Gelik shrieks then sighs in rapid succession as he is damaged and then healed, respectively.
Hopelessly optimistic, he fires another Ray of Frost at the nimble little minx.
ranged touch 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3
icy damage 1d3 ⇒ 1
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
"Blast you, fiend!" Torch snarls in anger, still striking out as fast as he can.
Scimitar attack with ranger's focus, flank and bless: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 83.
Cestus attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, miss chance (1-20) 1d100 ⇒ 87.
Aerys D Mavato |
Aerys feels herself weaken as her body fails to repel the burning sensation in her blood. She cries out, "Help, I'm poisoned!" before once more striking at the snake woman, though this time she sees her violet outline clearly.
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 - 1 = 16 (bless,flanking,power attack,strength damage) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 - 1 = 8 (power attack,strength damage)
3 out of 4 attack rolls under 10 ... will sacrifice a baby to the dice gods next, if that doesn't affect my good alignment.
Sam "Torch" McQuarry |
Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11.
This time, the effect of the poison hits him, and Torch pales as he feels his grip on his weapons slacken. There are no grandiose challenges, this time, just a pair of desperate strikes.
Scimitar attack, with bless, ranger's focus and flanking: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20, damage 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 plus 1d6 ⇒ 6 sneak attack.
Cestus attack, with bless, ranger's focus and flanking: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 plus 1d6 ⇒ 2 sneak attack.
I did not include any penalties from Strength damage, because I don't know what they are. If I take 2 points of Strenth damage, reduce the above attack and damage rolls by -1 each.
Aerys D Mavato |
Tired and weary with the fight and her lack of success, Aerys swings her long sword once more in a desperate effort to hit her adversary.
Longsword power attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 1 - 1 = 24 (bless,flanking,power attack,strength damage) damage 1d8 + 3 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 - 1 = 8 (power attack,strength damage)
Maestro Gelikugel Aberwhinge |
Gelik darts forward until he's in close range, rummaging in his beltpouch.
He will move far enough to be 10' away from the snake-lady. That should just be a 5' step to L-29, unless she's moved away further than the current map indicates.
He pulls out a tanglefoot bag and hurls it at Iaena.
ranged touch1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
