Torch nods. "We were getting close to the edge before - I'm pretty sure that put us well over it," he agrees. "Let's head back to the crypt, barricade the door and see how we do tomorrow."

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

"Probably the best idea, I don't know how I missed jumping on it! We must be ready if we meet it again, if we're they only food, it'll be back." says Aerys, breathing heavily and nursing her injuries. "Hrakar, how are you after it tried to devour you. If you have any healing, then we need it when we get back to that room we can use."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

So you want to hole up in the room with the skeletons? I suspect you'll have to bot Hrakar for now.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

That's the plan, yes. Have him use all his remaining channels and spells to get us all back up to full health (or at least as many as it takes), and then we try again tomorrow.

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik looks wild-eyed. If that monstrosity comes back it will devour us all! We can't stay here! This place is a death trap!

Too fearful to leave on his own, Gelik huddles in a corner, eventually falling into an exhausted sleep. He will take a turn on guard duty if asked, but he's too overwhelmed to think of it on his own.

Gelik is down 2 HP

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

There's no way in hell that Ralf is staying overnight in a structure that could flood any second (as far as he knows). He's going back to the mainland to rest.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

That's gonna require us to do the ritual again. Also, is there any evidence whatsoever that water has gotten in here already? So far, it seems pretty dry.

How do you know we won't have to perform the ritual again if we stay inside? As far as I know, we have had no indication that this ritual will last indefinitely. Or did I miss something?

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

"I don't know how long we've been in here, but who is to say we aren't already trapped" says Aerys without emotion. "If I understood that ceremony, it works to gain entry, we'll have to find our own way out. Those waters will return, but when I don't know. We're might die of somethings in here, but it won't be drowning, there's no evidence of water in here is there? We could be quite safe in that area, provided we keep our guard up, I think you'd be safer staying here."

Are the doors to the temple closed?

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik hadn't considered the possibility of drowning in this awful place. Despite there being no evidence that these chambers have ever flooded, he is willing to go check out the doors through which they entered to see if they are opened or closed, and whether the water level has risen back to its normal level. He will, under no circumstances, take any action that separates him from the majority of the group, however. He's not curious enough to take that risk.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The doors are still open.

The decision whether to stay in or to try to rest outside is up to you actually, and you'll have to decide upon one or the other. Both are valid options and I think you have enough clues to make a decision.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf is heading outside. If he has to do the ritual again to get back in and join everyone else, so be it.

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik stays with Torch, since he seems to be able to kill most of the things that want to eat gnomes.

Or drive them off, anyway.

Torch is not willing to let Ralf go off by himself in the middle of the jungle; if the old salt can't be persuaded, he'll go back out with him.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Once Torch forces him to stay, Ralf will stay. But he's worried all night.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

So you are staying then? Who's on guard?

I'm not sure about how much healing Hrakar has left, so if someone can help out I'm grateful.

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

"Before we rest, I think we need to shut the door, in case the water decides to come in." says Aerys. "Having come so far, it seems rather stupid to be drowned by an on rush of water, once the magic of that ceremony wears off." Aerys searches for some lever or something to shut the doors, in the entrance hall, before returning to the resting place.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

It looks like Hrakar has 1 channel left, plus most of his spells - three 2nd and two 1st, if I'm counting correctly.

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik needs his beauty sleep. He'll take last watch.

As previously mentioned, he's only down 2 HP. One channel should do him.

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

Aerys is down 9HPs ....

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

I guess that Hrakar has enough healing to bring you back to full hp. Just curious about who will take the first and second watch.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf will be on the first watch, I guess, always listening for any approaching footsteps.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Hrakar will join Ralf, while Aerys will join Gelik on last watch and Torch will take the middle watch solo.

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

Aerys is OK with the watch order, provided the magic users get enough time to recover their spells.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, then. Perception checks for all. Everybody except Ralf and Hrakar take a -10 penalty. And you might as well roll for initiative.

I'm assuming that Hrakar has enough healing to get you all up to full hp.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18, +4 if it doesn't relate to sound

Init: 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (19) - 6 = 13

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15.
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7.

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

Perception 1d20 - 1 - 10 ⇒ (3) - 1 - 10 = -8
Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

perception 1d20 + 2 - 10 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 10 = 7
initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

A moment's lapse of attention is all it takes for the nasty little doll to sneak up and hit Hrakar with 11 points of negative energy damage.

The good news is that its initiative is crap, so you all get to act before it does. Hrakar's bellowing is enough to wake the dead and Ralf is already up.

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik awakes with a start, drenched in fear-sweat. Is there no end to the horrors in this place?!

He lurches to his feet, triggering his spring-loaded wrist sheath. He looks around in fright, dagger in hand.

He delays. If the doll comes anywhere near him, he stabs it.

attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
damage 1d3 ⇒ 2

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch also rolls to his feet, and although his scimitar is not in his hand, his cestus is ready and waiting - he smashes it toward the doll with as much fury as he can muster.

Move to stand, attack (assuming the distance allows) with cestus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf will wake up anyone who's still asleep.

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

Aerys, seems somewhat bemused by the sudden commotion, she immediately smacks at the doll attacking Hrakar with her fist, hoping to break it into little pieces and find an advantageous point from which to fight. "Hrakar, why didn't you shout earlier!" Aerys calls out in alarm.

Unarmed Strike 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 (if flanking add +2) Damage 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 has Improved Unarmed fighting feat, so lethal damage, no AoO for doll.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Torch punches the nasty little doll to some effect, but Gelik doesn't seem able to hurt it. Being surrounded it scuttles away as fast as it can (provoking from all of you).

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

what the heck 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
in the unlikely event of a hit 1d3 ⇒ 3

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d6 ⇒ 4

Ralf's feeble tap is unlikely to smash the doll to bits.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Ralf and Torch tear into the doll, which looks in pretty bad shape as it limps away.

Will you pursue it?

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch won't follow it more than a single round away, but if he can get to it in a move action or a charge and take another shot at it, he will.

If that's the case: cestus attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 (+2 if a charge), damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4.

Male gnome Sorcerer 5 (maestro bloodline) HP: 32/38 AC: 13/13/11 F+3 R+3 W+4

Gelik fires a ray of frost at it as it retreats, if he has clear line of sight. He won't pursue, though.

ranged touch 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 add penalty for firing into melee if it applies
damage 1d3 ⇒ 2

crit! add 1d3 ⇒ 1 to damage

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Gelik hits the doll and makes it shatter, leaving a valuable gem and a pile of hair and other debris. The rest of the night is uneventful (except for a distant rumble as the doors close), so you may resume your explorations at full health.

Where do you want to go next?

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

"Gelik, that gem you picked up, what is it? is it worth anything?" asks Aerys as they prepare for the day ahead.

"So continue where we left off yesterday?" she inquires?

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Were there some magic items to identify or something? I remember Ralf was going to look at something once his Focused Trance got refreshed.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

If you're going the same way, how will you cross the 15 feet pit? The gems from the dolls are magical, but otherwise I can't say off the top of my head.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

That was it, the gem.

Ralf looks at the gem in a daze for half a minute. "I reckon these dolls are powered by these gems. They've got a soul binded inside 'em. Bad magic, if you ask me. Well, at least we didn't get drownded in our sleep!" he adds cheerfully.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

"Any idea what happens if we were to break them?" Torch asks, hoping against hope tht Ralf will hear the question.

Probably the way we tried to do yesterday - use the rope to climb down, have someone jump the pit or climb it without the rope, and then use the rope to help everyone else climb out again.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

You know, you can always write down a question, if you really want an answer.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Just a Jump or Climb check then, depending on what you choose. :)

Female Human Fighter (Mobile) 5 HP:43/54 AC19/T13/FF16 (AC23vsAoO) Condition:

Is there anything some magic person can do to stop anything coming in that hole, whilst we get across the pit?
