Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

There is a short silence. Then a hoarse voice calls out from inside the giant crab. "Oh, blast it. Go away, you people, before i smash you with my giant claw." The claw moves menacingly.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch shrugs. "That was kind of our plan already," he murmurs, but looks to Hrakar and Surkoff to see how they react.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Will you be pressing on then?

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf scratches his head. "That's the damnedest crab I've ever seen!" he hoots.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

"I suggest that we just avoid this person, obviously gone mad and doesn't want us around."

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"Crabs don't usually talk, this is obviously just a trick of some sorts... and if there's someone here, mad or not, we have better try to get some information out of him if we don't fancy spending what's left of our existances on this slab of rock..." Saying that Hrakar moves toward the crab

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

"We mean you no harm!" Torch shouts, looking worriedly at the advancing dwarf. "We only want to talk!"

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

"Go away! the voice screams. "Or I'll smash you with my giant claw." The claw waves frantically, but clumsily.

How close do you want to go?

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

Smash us? Doesn't seem likely, yet... Hrakar advances till he is at 20 feet from the crab

Perception roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Hrakar thinks he sees something moving in there, but he can't really make out any details.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Surkoff starts heading off to one side of the crab hoping to get behind it and out of the reach of that giant claw.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

I think this guy had an unfortunate encounter with a used apparatus of the crab dealer. "Check out this model! What a bargain!"

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Surkoff has no problem avoiding the reach of the giant claw, but the crab "house" has only one entrance.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

"Well he obviously wants to be left alone so maybe we should do that, he has done us no harm."

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"And again I tell you crabs don't talk, and this is a rouse. And, again we need all the information we can gather on this place..." saying that Hrakar moves toward the entrance of the "house"

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

"Not 'he' the crab, 'he' the guy inside the crab," Torch replies. "Whoever he is, he seems xenophobic enough to be dangerous - you're likely going to push him to attack!"

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

As Hrakar approaches the entrance into the crab, its claw takes a clumsy swing at him. He ducks away and sees a dark-skinned, clawed figure vanish into the shadows inside.

Now what?

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"For the love of Torag! What now?!?"axales the dwarf in an exasperated tone

"There's something black, clawed and probably ugly hiding in there... what shall we do? I'm loath to admit it but if he feels the need to resort to these tricks he may be the first creature we meet on this island with the intelligence and the disposition to help us... with a little nudging, maybe..."

perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Whoever the unknown person in the crab is, he or she is very good at hiding, because Hrakar can't make him or her out in there.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf is thoroughly confused, but he cheers Hrakar on. "Watch out for those claws, friend! Maybe you can unravel this mystery."

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Surkoff closes in on the rear of the crab, sword at the ready, focusing on the 'shell' to determine in there is evil intent inside.
Detect Evil on the crab. (The shell should not be thick enough to interfere with the detection)

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch stays where he is, uncomfortable with the idea of picking a fight with someone who has not actually attacked the group. His blade remains at the ready, though, and he does not try to stop Hrakar or Surkoff.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The crab does not exude any evil.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Surkoff calls out "Good sir, we are meaning no harm upon you and will not act in violence unless it is first brought down upon us. We merely with to parlay with you, to find out if you can help us and in turn that we can help you. What say you?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

There is no answer from within the crab.

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"To hell with this! We don't have time to waste!"

Saying that Hrakar casts "light" on his shield and enters the "house" shield held high

standard action to cast light and then move inside.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Hrakar's light illuminates the interior of the crab, which is cramped and smells of fish, but definitely looks inhabited. A string of smoked shellfish hangs from the ceiling and there is a bundle of blankets to one side.

But as he steps inside he is promptly cut down by a jagged blade (for 13 points of damage). You see a dark-skinned crow-headed figure dressed in rags standing over the fallen Hrakar.

Time to roll for initiative. Map coming up.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

1d20 - 6 ⇒ (9) - 6 = 3

"What the --!? Hold on, I'm a-comin'!"

Ralf rushes forward and works a (boosted) healing charm on the sorely wounded dwarf.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

"Hells!" Torch swears, rushing forward.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Inititative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Surkoff hears the sound of blade striking flesh, a slight cry out from the dwarf and then a body hitting the ground. He strides forward to the rear of the crab shell and takes a mighty swing at the thing, aiming just below the hard shell, trying to create another entrance in towards the dwarf and the mysterious attacker.
Greatsword Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20, Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 5) + 9 = 18

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Surkoff brings down his sword and bashes a large hole in the crab's shell. The startled tengu shrieks and runs out, brandishing a jagged sawtooth sabre. As he runs into Torch, he swipes at him for 5 points of damage.

I'll assume that Torch has taken a move action to approach, so he's not flat-footed. He still has a standard action left.

Then Ralf dodders forth and works his healing magic on Hrakar, who comes back to life.

Torch, Surkoff and Hrakar are up, then the tengu.

I put the battle map in Campaign Info.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

"Hrakar!!! Curse you beast, you will answer for that."
Seeing the bird-like creature run out of the front of the shell over the bleeding body of Hrakar, Surkoff runs around the side of the crab sword in hand.
(Double move action to P30, ready to charge into flank next round with Torch)

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Ouch. Sorry, didn't realize I was actually up or I would have posted. Though looking at things, I don't think I had a standard action I would have wanted to take...

Torch's failed parry angers him, and he attempts to launch a counterattack. Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7. Crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5.

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

What the... HOUCH!

As hrakar falls down and he sees the black featered creature move on and battle his friends he bitterly thinks on how crabs may not talk but Crows clearly do... then Ralf's healing surge brings him back to life... a very angry dwarf exists from the crab's shell swearing bloody vengance...

Channel energy (so that the burst doesn't encompass the tengu but as many of his companions as possible):1d6 ⇒ 1

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Hrakar's healing reaches Surkoff and Ralf, but not the tengu or Torch.

Torch wounds the tengu, who croaks in pain and fear as he sees Surkoff cutting off his escape. Slashing and pecking furiously at Torch (to no avail) he moves to T31.

You are up.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch moves with the birdman, fury showing on his scarred face. "Oh no you don't," he growls. "You try to murder my friends, you're going to suffer the consequences." 5 ft step to T32 and ready an attack for when Surkoff gets into flank. Flanking scimitar attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18, damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6.

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Torch: I think you mean that you 5ft to U31 since T32 is 10ft away.
Surkoff raises his blade as he charges in towards the birdman, bringing the sword down in a powerful overhand chop.
Greatsword Power Attack (Charge+Flank): 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 17, Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 1) + 9 = 15

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Between you, Torch and Surkoff cut the bird-man down and he bleeds profusely.

You get 150 xp each for the battle.

He's dressed in rags and his equipment is tattered and broken, with the exception of his sawtooth saber, which is masterwork and in good condition. In his hut there is some sort of contraption that enabled him to manipulate the crab's claw, and some blankets. You can also scavenge a few day¨s worth of rations in the form of poorly smoked sculpins and raw sea urchins if you are so inclined.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Ralf tries to stabilize the birdman, if possible (probably not, with Surkhoff's big chop). After all, he's the only guy they've met on the island they can talk with, so far.

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"What are you doing?!? That beast just tried to gut me!"
A rather upset Hrakar observes Ralf's handywork with disbelief and anger.

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

"Hrakar!" Torch snaps back, also clearly furious. "You started this fight because you insisted we needed to talk to this creature! Get your head on straight, man! Make up your mind!"

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Seeing Hrakar's angry face, Ralf holds up his feeble hands, trying to placate the priest. "Now hold on just a minute...maybe we can talk to this bird feller. You want to get off this island, don't ya? Maybe he can tell us a thing or two now that he's our prisoner."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Ralf's magic brings the bird-man back from death's door. He's rather badly cut up, but he'll live.

Maybe you should spend the night here?. It's getting late anyway and that would save you the trouble of finding shelter.

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"Yeah! That's was BEFORE he tried to stab me to death!!! But fine, let's do it YOUR WAY for now. Just keep him away from that sabre... it's wicked!"

male half-elf ranger (guide) 2 / rogue 3

Torch nods, apparently satisfied with the dwarf's reply, and scoops up the saber. "'Nother present for Sasha. At this rate, she's going to think I'm courting her..."

I'm good with camping here.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, I'm going to take that as a yes.

The crab is a little cramped but at least you get a night's sleep without getting attacked. Ralf coughs a bit in the morning but he seems to be fine, and you continue on your merry way.

Your unwilling host wakes up a few hours later, but still in a very bad shape and in no condition to put up a fight. You can interrogate him if you like.

Male Dwarf Cleric 02

"Well, crowface, tell us what you know about this island NOW and we might let you live, otherwise, I reckon I owe you a good stab and I'm hitching to pay my debt..."

Hrakar, noticing the Tengu to be awake is ready to jump on him for some questions... asked the dwarven way!

Intimidation check:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

Assume that there was healing enough to go around and get everyone back to full over the evening?

I am ready to play the good cop Hrakar.

Surkoff rests his hand on Hrakar's shoulder attempting to calm him down before he does something he might regret and then turns his attention to the birdman. "Did you not understand us when we said we just wanted to talk? This is what happens when violence is brought upon us, only this time we were nice enough to not finish the job, though that is mostly in thanks to the old codger over there." he points in the direction of Ralf. "How did you come to be on this island and how long have you been here? Well? What? A cat got your tongue?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The tengu looks at you with a tired and bleary eye. "I guess you are going to torture me now, but I'll say that aty least I put up a good fight. Let it be said that I did not betray my captain and stood firm under the most vicious torture." He looks into the distance. "Oh, captain, my captain, I will soon be joining you." He sighs deeply. "Let it be done with quickly, and then you can go and join the other two."

Male Human - Chelaxian Paladin 1

"Let me guess, you were an actor before coming to this paradise of an island? A little bit more dramatic than I am used to. I do not want to kill you, I just want to get some information from you and then you can go on living your life, if you can call it that. We are trapped here and want only to escape this foul place, if you have anything that may be useful to us in this goal we can certainly reward you or even take you off this place as well if that is your desire. We can also just leave you here to live out your life within your interesting little home."
