Roylenna will cast Haste on the party and draw a wand from her belt. Artival got me confused - no one's cast Haste yet, right? You are just expecting me to?

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Artival's ray strikes true but the monster seems to be resistant to fire and is not as singed as it should be. With a blood-curdling scream it charges Gregori and claws at him, but fails to penetrate his armor.

You are all up.

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

As the fould creature flails wildly at him Gregori summons the divine wrath and hatred of evil that he has been gifted with, his blade flashing out to strike at his attacker.

Sorry. Got haste and inspire courage mixed up!

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Add 2 to Gregori's attacks (24 and 19) due to inspire courage

Female Human Barbarian 7

Did you add the +1 to hit for the Haste too? Since Ka'kara was now in front and opening the door I assume she is right next to the fiend and gets a full attack. This is gonna be good.... :)

With a feral grin the barbarianess enters her rage, only this time is different...dark ethereal wisps start swirling about her, ravaging her enemy with black energy but leaving nothing more than fleeting cold touches to her friends. Gregori can't help but feel the sudden explosion of negative energy surrounding her. She seems to revel in it and screams, "My ancestors have joined me! Feel their wrath!"

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Umm... wow! I think I will wait to see if the think is cloven in two now. (Is cloven the right word here?)

32/42 HP

If the creature isn't dead yet, Lyria raises her holy symbol and channels energy through it.

Channel energy for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) + 4 = 13 points of damage.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The creature is indeed dead, utterly destroyed by your combined onslaught. You get 229 xp each for defeating him.

There are no visible exits from the room. A small chest stands under the wooden throne. That is about it.

Female Halfling Bard 1

"Wow did you all see that? She pretty much took his head clean off there,"

Female Human Barbarian 7

As she calms down the swirling spirit wisps dissipate as if they were never there. Ka'kara frowns looking a bit disappointed and mumbles, "Perhaps they are just legends..."

Hopefully, Mahaffy will carefully examine the chest.

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Gregori stares at Ka'kara in amazement as the swirling miasma of dark energy fades, the decimated body inly just completing its fall.

"That was....dark. Impressive, but dark."

His stoic expression shifts to one of his signature grins.

"And kindof hot too..."he mutters

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

After a short examination, Mahaffy declares the chest safe. In it are 200 cp, 600 gp that bend when Mahaffy bites them, revealing themselves as painted lead (value as coppers) and an arcane scroll of [i]Jump, Memory Lapse and Stinking Cloud[i].

There are no visible exits and Mahaffy finds no secret doors, so you have really just one way to go if you want to continue exploring, and that's the hole in the wall in the main corridor.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ok, I assume we'll continue in the previously stated order with Mahaffy at the lead searching for traps and the rest of us looking for secret doors as he does.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The narrow passage goes on for a short while before emerging in a large natural cavern. Rats are everywhere! (Most of them of normal size but some are larger.) A shrill female voice is heard from inside the cavern, crying for help (the western part to be precise. A stream runs through the room Several rat tunnels lead from this room. A pile of rubble blocks access to the west. The far southern section of the room beyond the river is scorched, as if a fireball spell had previously been cast here.

Partial map up (showing the room of the ghul and this chamber) under Campaign info.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ka'kara rolls her eyes from the back of the group showing her skepticism that there is a damsel in distress.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Someone pick those up, she's going to want them back!

Female Human Barbarian 7

Lol, they stay in her head when she rolls them! Darn those dangling participles...

Female Halfling Bard 1

"Did you all hear that? Someone in need of rescue. That would be a great thing to add to my books."

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Gregori starts heading in the direction of the scream, sword in hand.

"Well then, let's see who needs rescuing"

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Roylenna skips along behind the paladin. But not too closely.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Mumbling to herself as she follows, "I knew I was going to have to save his..."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Sorry, lost my dot for some reason and missed the replies.

Roll for initiative for now. It's late here and my head is reeling. Just barely managed to meet a deadline. Also I may be in love. Bear with me.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, i finally managed to put together a semblance of a battle map. The grey area is the rubble, which is difficult terrain. The scream came from somewhere behind it.

Would you put yourselves in some kind of order. I hesitate to put Mahaffy at the front, especially since he hasn't posted in a while.

Roylenna is the only one to beat the monster's initiative, but I can describe the scene better when I know your positions. I'm assuming that you are scaling the rubble.

Ftr1/Pal1 | LG | AC(19)17/14/16 | HP 18//18 | F+5,R+1,W+0 | Init+ 1 | Smite Evil 1/day

Artival is in the Back/middle, as usual.

Female Halfling Bard 1

Tika will attempt to keep to the middle of the group

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

I think we were in our standard order, but I agree about Mahaffy. Let's say he was studying something away from the scream and the rest of us moved without him, putting him in the middle-to-back of the group.

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Gregori's the first person through the door.Right up front

32/42 HP

Lyria will try to stay in the middle but not too far from Gregori.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

I said I was skipping along behind Gregori, so put me just in front of Lyria, please.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ka'kara is in the back to start things off.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, I got the map updated. As you climb the rubble you realize that the corridor behind it is veritably swarming with rats, two rat swarms, eight dire rats and five wererats armed with bows.

Roylenna goes first, then the rats.

Female Halfling Bard 1

Any sign on who screamed?

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Fireball would be nice right about now. And I would like to point out that Artival's initiative was better than Roylenna's.

Getting a glimpse of the crowd awaiting the party, Roylenna casts Haste on Ka'kara, Gregori, Mahaffy, Lyria, Tika, and herself. (Sorry, Artival, but if we have to retreat, I want the wee ones to have a speed boost.)

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Honestly, what will I have to do to get my dot back? :( Sorry, forgot about Artival.

Artival to go then, then the rats.

Ftr1/Pal1 | LG | AC(19)17/14/16 | HP 18//18 | F+5,R+1,W+0 | Init+ 1 | Smite Evil 1/day

Artival casts a protective magic, speaking a few words, before multiple copies of the Mage appears.

The wererats fling some sort of reddish powder at you. Sneezing powder - Gregori, Roylenna and Artival need to make Fort 12 saves or be staggered.. Then the rats swarm you. You all (except Mahaffy) get AoOs but unless you kill them you all take 3 points of damage and need to make a Fort 12 save to be able to act this round.

The dire rats have trouble finding a chink in Gregori's armor and Artival and Roylenna are too fast for them. Or I just rolled abominably. A few arrows bounce off Gregori's shield.

You're up, all of you.

Gregori stands amidst the hurled projectiles and the charge of the dire rats, for all the world as unaffected as a mountain in a rainstorm.

"Artival, if you have any nasty magic to toss their way before we wade in, now's your chance!" the paladin thunders, a shimmering golden glow enveloping his blade as tongues of golden flame dance along it, interspersed with the cold blue rhime, steam and mist rising from the weapon.

He raises his golden shield, lion's head glaring forward at the verminous creatures before him.

Standard action, activate divine bond, summoned celestial spirit adds flaming quality to blade.

Artival 5' steps backward and fires a gout of flame at the swarm. Burning Hands

Damage 5d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 1, 2) = 11

Ref DC 16 for half.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Acrobatic jump: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43 That's a 40' foot jump at a height of 8' feet at its apex. Her speed is currently 70' feet so she moves easily up to engage 3 of the wererats in melee. This gives one of the wererats an AOO.

Taking a short step back to get some running room Ka'kara does a screaming leap across the swarming mass of rats below her. The dark swirling spirits return as she slams her heavy blade into one of the ratmen that she just about lands on.

Cleaving Greatsword attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35
Damage: 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (6, 2) + 21 = 29

Spirit attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Negative energy damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Spirit critical confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Negative energy damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Cleave on second wererat: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
Damage: 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (1, 4) + 21 = 26

Black Tom (or anyone else who knows): I am a little unclear about whether her spirit attack damages every enemy adjacent to her or just one. Can be read either way. I am also assuming that things like haste and inspire courage have no effect on the spirit slam rolls.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Fort save to avoid staggered condition 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

No weapon readied, so no AoO.

Roylenna is overcome with a sneezing fit, but she recovers in time to release a spell of her own as Ka'kara sails overhead. Staggered = loss of an action, right? So no move action this round.

Fort save to act next round 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Oh, that's close.

Scorching Ray, targeting the one Ka'kara didn't just Cuisinart (R)
Ranged touch attack 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 13 Includes haste and inspiration bonuses, does not include +1 if they are within 30'

Fire damage 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 3) = 15 does she get +2 from inspiration for spell damage? No +1 from PBS included yet, either.

Wow, pretty dismal rolls until the damage...
