Black Tom's Kingmaker

Game Master Black Tom

51 to 100 of 100 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I'm submitting Lelouch.

He was in the very start of another campaign, but due to a player issue was kicked out in favour of the original player.

I'm in a Shattered Star and Legacy of Fire AP atm, so feel free to check out my posts. My LoF character is a free spirit and thinks he can handle himself, my SS character is a friendly thief who avoids being detected and scouts for the party...and Lelouch (for this campaign) is a powerful support character who commands his enemies.

I'll need to edit his stats a bit as the GM for the other game had a few homebrew idea's going on with him, but apart from that, although an arrogant character to his enemies and sometimes coming across that ay to his friends, he's Noble by nature and so acts as such, but can get along with anyone, so long as they're on his side.

Full backstory and details are in this alias, though I'm going to give it a once over now to remove any obvious homebrew.

If chosen there is one thing I'd like to ask of you, but we'll see if it comes to that.

He's a Charm Cleric of own ideals, planning to become ruler of his own Kingdom with great ideals and a good bit of mystery and cunning to his character.

This is my submission post. :)

Thank you for your consideration!

Edit:
He's statted up as level 2, but once I de-level him, the GM Curse (feel free to read!) will be removed and his stats will be as follows:

Str: 8
Dex: 12
Con: 12
Wis: 18 (+2 human)
Int: 13
Cha: 14

Feats:

1a. Selective Channeling
1b. Spell Focus (Enchantments)

Racial Trait: Silver Tongued - Humans with this trait gain a +2 bonus on Diplomacy and Bluff checks. In addition, when they use Diplomacy to shift a creature's attitude, they can shift up to three steps up rather than just two. This racial trait replaces skilled.

Traits:

Magical Lineage (Lesser Geas): Pick one spell when you choose this trait. When you apply metamagic feats to this spell, treat its actual level as 1 lower for determining the spell’s final adjusted level. If possible I'd like this to be my main spell, unlocked to either my full casting level, getting more powerful as it increases, or to something like three quarters of my caster level. You could lovk off all domains but Charm and Nobility if you wanted, to represent his true power and focus. Depends what you'd allow/be interested in doing if the character concept interests you. :)

Noble Born - Orlovsky: Your family has a reputation for avoiding conflicts.
Benefit You gain a +1 trait bonus on your CMD. In addition, choose Acrobatics, Diplomacy, or Stealth—you gain a +1 trait bonus on this skill. Your family motto is “High Above.”

I post from England, so if you're from Scotland, will be on probably the same times as you, and I post frequently, with this guy being the character with most roleplay potential, though he doesn't mind overthrowing people of power to get to where he wants to be, so if you're okay with that, I'll look forward to possibly playing with you!

SUSPENSE...KILLING...ME... :-)

i know right lol

Yes, we all look forward to seeing if we make the cut...
Why isn't it tuesday yet! :)

Because I still haven't gotten that time push spell figured out.

I just got invited into another game with heavy demands. Considering my good luck with that and the numerous other applicants for this game I'm going to respectively withdraw. Good luck everyone!

Here is my rogue.

Profile is finished with build, history, abilities, personality and relation details!

I'm crossing my fingers with this one, and as a note, Lelouch is meant to be physically pathetic, but mentally sharp.

He always stands as a leader behind his allies, at the back and out of harms way, where he can effectively way up situations as a tactician, commanding his allies as a highly supportive character.

He has his own goals he wants to pursue, and wishes to convert those he travels with to his cause, with an intention to manipulate anyone around him to achieve what he's set out to accomplish. He see's everything like a big game of chess. He's the King, those he fights with are his pawns, and allies who show their worth will be considered the equivalent of Queen, Knight, Bishop etc on the battlefield.

I hope this sounds good to you. It's clear a lot of people want in on this, and so I'm hoping for the best! :)

Good luck everyone!

We can all hope for the best. Good luck for everyone involved!

Can't wait to see who gets to play. So looking forward to this.

*Crosses fingers*

Black Tom:
Hey Tom,

I woke up this morning half thinking to find a consistent pbp game with a solid GM, hopefully with a good pbp track record, and find a way to join his or her game. Then I saw the post for this Kingmaker recruitment and who was running it and knew I needed to at least try to get in, despite this being the final hour. Anyways, it'd be great to play with and for someone who's interested in a constant and stable game. Now without further gilding the lily.

Lunder - Human Barbarian

About Lunder:

"Myrdul hates the magic and the Tycho. Myrdul makes good friend to friends, and terrible enemy to his enemies. You have an enemy to stomp, or a bully that don't go away, just get Myrdul and the problem will be gone away like a gopher smashed into his hole. Myrdul's hopes? Well Myrdul hopes to lead men one day, not like the tribes, but like the little men. With marching and turning and shouting together. Myrdul has fought against the small men who fight this way, and has seen it be good. Good as rain on hot day. Give Myrdul a chance, and Myrdul will achieve greatness! For Myrdul, and those smart enough to be close to to Myrdul."

He's a barbarian who's trying to be smart like the 'small men' (basically everyone who's not a barbarian) and knows that he must try to integrate himself into their society if he ever hopes to learn and be as powerful as the small men have learned to be. He's lost many men when attacking the small men, never able to understand how the tribe would lose against smaller, weaker foes. To gain this knowledge, which he believes will make him powerful, powerful enough to one day rule the tribes, he has forsaken the traditions of his people to remake himself -and this Remaking has led him to Brevoy.

Bugsby Featherfoot - Gnome Sorcerer

About Bugsby Featherfoot:

Small, young and distracted... three words a stranger would use to describe Bugsby Featherfoot. But to those in the community, he's so much more. A friend, entertainer, intensely loyal, and quick to smile. Bugsby has worked hard, and been a friend to those who know him, entertaining at several upscale taverns. He can often be found where he shouldn't be, but rarely does things that he shouldn't. He's been seen in trees watching the baby Robins hatch, or deep in a thick patch of bushes, apparently studying 'ant patterns' or some such.

He has entertained using a budding, inherent ability with magic, one that didn't manifest itself (according to Bugsby) until after he had left Sanos to seek his fortune. This growing ability, and a desire to learn the truth of the ever changing world around him, has driven the flighty gnome to periods of deep meditation contrasted with a distinct lack of ability to focus for very long on any one thing. He doesn't want to leave his friends, and that is what has kept him in Sandpoint for so long, but he watches those passing through to foreign lands with a wistful eye, and any who know him well, easily see his innermost desires to understand the whole world.

Standing at only 3',2" and a mere 35 lbs, Bugsby is not much of a physical specimen, but either in his bearing or his demeanor, there is something cold and hard beneath the slight, smiling exterior. His hair has been shorn close to his head around the sides, and he wears a fitted cap with a wide circle cut from the top. The purple hair on the top of his head stands up through the gap in the hat, and shoots out at all angles from there. If you happen to see the gnome at a certain angle you might notice a small string of characters circling his neck and disappearing down his shirt.

Benton Fisk - Half Elf Oracle (Life)

About Benton Fisk:
Born the bastard child of a elvish sailor and his gullible human mother; he grew up an outcast in his own home, and the small hamlet community was even worse. The other kids called him names and he always seemed to be fighting to protect his mother from names which had no meaning to him, but the way the others said them was enough to start a fight. As soon as he was able he joined the town militia, and though he was still ridiculed, it was to a much lesser extent. He was part of something, his mother was safer with him gone, and he was learning something worthwhile. He was assigned to the medical core, and he excelled in the various trainings.

He served faithfully for many years, until one day an Orc raid all but wiped out the small community. He wandered then, town to town, eventually coming to Diamond Lake. He had a small Medical cart and patched up dock workers to earn enough coin to survive. All he wanted was to be left alone and allowed to quietly drink the memories away now and again.

Benton didn't speak of the injury which lamed his leg, but the rumors around town are that it happened in the same battle which destroyed his home. For his part, the man seems to ignore his infirmity and the pain it causes him, using his medical cart to lean on when the pain becomes too much. In his heart of hearts the half-elf believes his lame leg, and the daily pain it causes him, is the price demanded of him by whatever gods spared his life when so many others lost theirs. Sometimes he imagines that exacting revenge on the Orc tribe who took all that he knew, and loved in his own warped way, will alleviate the pain, unfortunately that would require him to be a man of action, which is just one more thing the orcs took from him all those years ago.

Sorry for the late submissions, just very interested in getting into the game and didn't see the thread till this morning, thus the hail-mary/shotgun effort. Good luck people!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, it's Tuesday (I'm in Stockholm so I'm on CET in case anyone wonders). Thanks for the submission. I'm a little humbled by the effort you've put into this, but I still want a small game, so I am only taking three.

There is a real possibility, though, that I will find it expedient to expand the party or that someone drops out, so feel free to stick around, and I'll post here if there is an opening.

My choices are as much about my personal preferences and idiosyncrasies as anything, so I won't say I picked the best players or characters in any sense, just those I happened to like best for this purpose.

Without further ado and in no particular order I welcome to the discussion thread:

Nerandeth Ildelaren
Mim Oakenlegs
Worryn Ocera

Thanks again everyone.

Well. With such odds, that's what you get. Congratulations to those who got in :)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Congratulations, folks! Have fun!

Well, the game seems to have stalled for some reason, so if any of you guys are still interested, I probably have room for two more.

Good afternoon Tom,

I'd be very interested. I would like to play a human cavalier, I can have him rolled up by tomorrow. I post *frequently* (read as 3-5+ x/day) between 8am-5pm CST, as I am at work with constant internet access. I will post occasionally in the evenings, but weekends are usually infrequent.

I will also be on vacation 8/15-8/19 with occasional access. (I should still be able to post daily).

I have been wanting to get in on a kingmaker game for a long time.

I am on my way home from a nice vacation myself, but I would love to get in on a kingmaker game. This is a Zen archer I have been playing around with. I might need to adjust fluff, but here are his basics.

Here's a concept I had, need to change up the fluff he was originally written for a wrath of winter campaign, but that never happened. Will adjust to kingmaker at home in an hour or two. I've just started playing by post, but can definitely committ to a couple posts a day.

Once again I offer my half-elf Inquisitor of Calistria, Xerell Maj'ir. His story and goals for a kingdom our quite unique. All his info in the alias. Thanks for your consideration.

Valeska's here. Tactician. Swordlord hopeful.

Whoops, forgot to mention that this character was created by rolling... I well need too adjust stats when I get home...

I'd still like in please. :-D

Shadow Lodge

Not quite "core races", but do you have room &/or interest for a Goblin Sohei (Monk) of Iomedae? Raised in a Monestary, Lawful Good ... let me see if I can find the story ... ah, here it is! It was written with a higher level in mind, but it should still work.

Mushin is written as Vassal -- he has no interest in running his own kingdom, but is more than happy to help wherever asked.

Mushin's Story:

“Mushin!”

The old priest was fairly typical of the area: a shaven human male that stood just over five Shaku (about a five feet) tall. His task was also fairly typical of this monastic orphanage: looking for one of his children. This child, however, was … not typical.

“Mushin!”

A small goblin stuck his head out from a small barn. His ears were so large, that some of the other children said that they were larger than he was. Others claimed that they could see him coming “ears first”. This naturally led to games of Hide and Seek, which Mushin typically won.

“Mushin” the old man said sternly, “I told you – you can’t ride pigs.”

“Of course I can!” Mushin answered proudly, “Watch!”

“No, Mushin” the old man replied with amazing calm, watching the small goblin try to mount the oversized swine, “I mean you shouldn’t ride the pigs.”

“Oh.”

Mushin let the swine go and walked over to the old priest, cleaning off his simple clothing as he went. He waved to the family that he had been visiting.

“I’m sorry for the trouble …” the priest began.

“No, it’s alright” the farmer replied, “He’s a very hard worker. And he’s very good in the stables.”

The pair headed toward the small village at the bottom of the mountain in silence – a walking meditation. When they reached the bottom of the village, the old priest sent Mushin inside the store to pick up a few things. Just as Mushin was finishing, the old priest saw dust approaching on the Imperial Road. Reflexively, he started calculating the speed of the approaching steed. Such things were hard for a retired Samurai like himself to avoid, but then that was why he retired.

So he could die without attachments to this life.

As the cloud approached, the old priest turned the event into a meditation – observing, with no attachments or prejudgments. At a distance he could discern that the saddle was a typical military saddle, and the flag flying indicated that it was a messenger bound for the Imperial Castle. It was quite fortunate that the old priest was practicing his observation, for when the steed came closer he noticed that the rider was unconscious.

Or dead.

“Mushin! Come quickly!”

When the tiny child in an oversized basket hat came riding up to the Imperial Castle, the guards were unsure what to do. But the rider handed him a note that the guard passed off to his superior who passed it off to his superior. Soon enough, the head of the Imperial Guard came down. She was a late middle-aged human female Samurai that, if one looked carefully enough, one could tell was related somehow to the old priest.

“Mushin, I am Kasumi.”

The “small child” took off his hat, revealing to all that it was really a goblin that was underneath the hat.

Mushin leapt off the horse as only an expert could do and lead the horse over to the Samurai.

“Mushin” the woman asked, “do you know why you are here?”

“Yes, Dono” the small Goblin answered, “because Sensei wanted me to deliver the horse to his daughter.”

“You were attacked on the way here?”

The holes in the small goblin’s robes told the tale.

“Yes, Dono – but no harm came to the horse.”

The woman nodded and began to lead the horse into the Imperial Sanctuary.

“Come with me, Mushin. There are a few people I wish you to meet.”

“Hai, Dono”.

Always wanted to play a kingmaker campaign. Consider me interested.

This party needs a Martial character. I would like to submit a Human Paladin of Erastil Lancer build. I will have to pull him together. Will do this tomorrow.

Silver Crusade

OK, Magnus is ready and reporting for duty.

As is Christobal.

Sorry about the delay. Trying to ascertain how many players I have left. Thanks for the contributions.

Magnus, you are in. Please familiarize yourself with the thread so far and make a dot in the discussion thread.

Yay, I'm in! Thankyou!

Sorry to you guys that didn't make it.

I didn't make it the first time. Wasn't expecting to make it this time either. :p

I don't think the concept of my guy's liked tbh. Congrats man. :)

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Is this recruitment still open?

Not for now, I'm afraid.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

K thanks I will check back another time than :)

OK, we need another player again. Currently we have a cavalier and a druid, so some sort of arcanist or skill monkey (or both) would be fine. Just let me know who's still interested.

I'm currently in a Kingmaker game, would that rule me out for applying to join in this one? I can play dumb really well if need be :)

The Exchange

Generating one now. Need to put into proper formatting and pick avatar.

Background&Concept:
Half-orc Wizard(universalist) filling the role of contracted facilitator/grifter. His spell selection reflects his employment choice, with an avoidance of flashy noisy spells.

Despite his tattooed appearance and half-orc heritage, he was not shy about looking down on manual skillsets of breaking & entering as well as crude thuggery; despite the irony of enjoying breaking heads ("self-defense, Your Honor") once in a while. He sees magic as a tool to be applied not an art form.

He found it prudent to disappear after returning some lost items to their rightful owner and the charter was a reasonable excuse as any to disappear and let things cool down.

G'ur "Hambone" Krip

Ridge, feel free to sketch out a character and I'll take my pick. I never had any problem with foreknowledge before.

I am interested in playing a golemancer character and I think Kingmaker is where I need to do it.

I am in the process of making the character and would like to know if you are interested before I put a packet together.

My character concept is a spellslinger who uses a rifle at low levels and hopes to begin making constructs around 6th level or so. Her golems will eventually look like large "clanks", kind of like the goblin buzzsaw robots from WoW.

This character is mostly a support caster and will be focused on making magic items and the constructs. The class will be Wizard, Archtype Spellslinger and race will probably be gnome or halfling.

I'm interested, but I'll make my decision when I see the characters.

If you need some arcane support, perhaps I can oblige. I can cover the typical arcane skillset, sweet talk our way out of (or into!) trouble, and when all that fails, I've got a whole lot of sustained firepower. Background is objective enough to adjust to particular places and settings if that would be suitable, and founding a country would be perfectly in line with my goals. I've never played an actual kingmaker, though I think some of the campaigns I'm in take elements from it; I'll be able to get into it, but there's no risk of spoilers!

EDIT: Pay no heed to the level. Perfectly willing to restart at 1, or whatever. think of this as an example of my planned build.

Unfortunately, her first level is a one level dip into Gunslinger. Her 10 level plan would be:

1. Gunslinger (Musket Master)
2. Wizard (Spellslinger)
3. Wizard (Spellslinger)
4. Wizard (Spellslinger)
5. Wizard (Spellslinger)
6. Wizard (Spellslinger)
7. Eldritch Knight
8. Eldritch Knight
9. Eldritch Knight
10.Eldritch Knight

Class concept is a wizard who makes constructs (mostly terra cotta soldiers), magic weapons, armor and other items. My goal with her around 8th level or so is to make a large construct that she uses as a mount/firing platform. This is a simply horrible picture, but I don't have time to draw one right now and it gives across the basic idea. I'm an artist and so the final pictures will be cool, I simply have finals in 2 weeks and can't draw one right now.

Personality: She's going to be a kind of hyper-adventurous halfling out to see the world, carve her name in history and have as much fun as she can along the way. She sees everything as a chance to build something bigger, better and cooler.

Background: There is no clear role for non-humans in the Kingmaker campaign, and the campaign traits don't really leave much room for them. She is a young halfling genius from a relatively rich merchant family in Restov. By using family connections, she will wrangle a late invitation to the stolen lands where she hopes to make her mark on history.

Her family are upper middle class merchants, not particularly political, but influential enough that the nobility do them small, easy favors to keep them happy while paying taxes. She has no dark skeletons in her past or burning secrets she doesn't want to let out.

I am looking for a game where the DM will work with me in places where the rules are somewhat vague. I'd like to base the character around making items and golems but have never tried that type of character before. I'd like to use the discovering spells concept to rediscover the 3.5 spells that let wizards repair constructs. I plan to fund many of her golem making activities by making/selling magic items back in Restov, but I think that fits with the Ultimate Campaign system Kingmaker shares. I have a premonition that I may have to fill in rules where they don't exist right now, and so will need a GM that is open to RAI and helping me find the right balance.

Anyway, that's the character. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Okay, made up a profile page for Marcias here

A human witch bastard of Surtov heritage who really has a grudge against how he and his mother were treated by his father and some other relations. While his alignment is true natural currently, the right crew might get him to become a better person yet.

The background is also in the profile, but in case you want it here...

Background:
Background:Young Marcias dressed in his finest clothes. Today would be the day he was presented to the proud Surtova family. While he was a bastard, the lad knew that he still had a chance to land a fine position in service to his father's household. It would certainly be better than growing up to be a cobbler like his mother. At only 13 winters, he already had ambitions, and some would say that more than anything else was a sign of his heritage. His father, Adarias Surtova, was a baron of the Surtovas, but had great ambitions himself, and if one of his bastards turned out to help further them, he'd certainly consider putting the lad to work.

Unfortunately for Marcias, he never saw the kidnappers coming. Somehow word had gotten out that the boy was claiming noble blood, and that, the criminals realized, was an excellent chance to make some coin. Marcias hadn't even made it to the keep when he was stuffed into a bag and held in a cold cave for ransom. Marcias held out hope though, that his father would ransom him, or better yet come to his rescue.

Yet Baron Adarias sent no rescue. Indeed, the wily noble was sure that no bastard, however talented, was worth the cost being asked for. Instead, he spread rumor that there was no bastard, that the foolish brigands were as much con men as kidnappers. The kidnappers themselves were suddenly at a loss whether to let the boy go, or kill him outright as even they had doubts now about his high claims.

Marcias was scared when he heard his father would not be aiding him, but while he felt fear, he felt betrayed even more. Had he not found the fox, no doubt he would likely have been killed.

"You need to look ahead next time," The fox seemed to say.

"I suppose you always do," He muttered bitterly.

"I try. You should be more like a fox yourself. A fox knows not to trust too easily. A fox knows more than one way out. A fox doesn't just look right ahead, he listens far. I could teach you to read the signs, and..." The fox tilted its head, "Curious. You came this close to changing the world. I would have liked to see that."

"Me?"

"Well, not you alone, of course," THe Fox said, "But yes."

Marcias paused, "How about a deal. You help me escape, teach me some cunning, and I'll let you come along. Maybe Pharasma will allow me the fate she originally had planned after all?"

"You call on the lady of omens?" The fox said, sounding surprised, "Had you asked in anyone else's name I... very well, young Kit. I shall aid you. First of all, look for where the water runs..."

It was not easy, but with the Firetail's help (For that is what he decided to call the fox), the young lad escaped.

When he arrived at the gates of his father's keep, he was disheveled and half starved. Instead of the warm introduction, he found denial. He was told his mother was a lying whore hoping to make quick coin by foisting off some commoner child as a true Surtov.

Marcias was bright enough to realize what had happened. The baron would lose face if it was ever discovered he left a son, even a bastard, in the hands of mere brigands. Marcias tried once more to sway his father, but the baron had him whipped and chased off.

But Marcias still had Firetail, and he still had a destiny, or so Firetail claimed. His familiar opened secrets to him, and Marcias headed south. When word came that the sword lords sought adventurers, Marcias decided to test his witchcraft. He would change the world, and force other nobles to accept him, and remove the slander they'd spread about his mother.

I was in an arcane state of mind, but if doubling my chances is allowed, I could also submit a skill monkey of some sort

I could probably roll one up, though I'm much more keen on getting this one into a game somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against arcanes, It's just that variety is the spice of life.

Bottom line is, we probably need an arcane more than a skill monkey (and some arcanes get an impressive number of skill points).

Anyway, I'm not the final arbiter here, I'll leave that to DM Black Tom.

Same here. I love Rogues more because, for me, I love to roleplay them their versatility. In combat, not so much...

Here's a halfling bard.

Background:
Background: Lynndra is the daughter of escaped slaves from Cheliax. Boram was 27 years older than Rilka. He was a chimney sweep, and she was a scribe. He attempted escape numerous times but failed. When Rilka became pregnant with their first child, he vowed it would be born in freedom. He used all the lessons of his failed escape attempts to his advantage and fled with Rilka. Lynndra was born in Absalom but spent her early childhood on the move as her parents’ fear and paranoia of bounty hunters kept them traveling to various trading ports around the Inner Sea. When she was eight, they settled in Absalom. Using their house as a sanctuary for escaped slaves, they stayed for the next four years.

At the age of ten, she started bardic training under a half-elf named Dabyd. He had helped numerous halflings escape slavery. Her apprenticeship was cut short when bounty hunters discovered her family’s activities and in the process of capturing three slaves, her younger brother was killed. This shattered the family. Boram and Rilka’s grief was too great to maintain their relationship. Rilka took the children to Brevoy — about as remote a place she could “easily” get to and where she didn’t think any hunters would make a profit if they chased them. Boram stayed in Absalom determined to get revenge upon the bounty hunters. They haven’t heard anything about Boram since leaving Absalom.

Along the southern border of Brevoy, Rilka and her children carved out a often hungry existence along the Shrike River. Lynndra practiced music and on occasion she would perform in taverns and at festivals. As the years passed a few halfling families and some “lone wolves” moved into the region (within half a day’s walk). Since the age of twenty, Lynndra has spent half a day teaching young halflings history, geography, math, languages, and how to use a sling staff. In the afternoon, she gathers berries, farms, and makes traps for small animals. For the past eight years she has traveled to Restov for two weeks in the winter to perform in taverns and buy one or two books. The most recent trip she heard about explorers wanted to chart the Stolen Lands and forge new nations. Believing this would be a perfect opportunity to create a haven for halflings, if not a homeland, she submitted an application with the swordlords.

Goals: She wants to establish a nation in the Stolen Lands based on freedom and liberty, where all races are welcome. Lynndra’s dreams include a national library, academy, and theater.

Personality: Somewhat reserved unless she is performing or giving a speech, Lynndra is kind and generous. Despite the hardships, she laughs easily.

Sorry guys, but maybe the darkness is getting to me. I may have too many games running at the moment or something, but the truth of the matter is that I'm struggling to keep up (and therefore have been remiss in updating). Apologies for wasting your time, but I'm going to close this game and try to focus on the others.

Thank you for playing and contributing and hope you find another game somewhere.
