1 person marked this as a favorite.

It has been roughly 500 Terran years since the fall of Horus. The 9 traitor legions fled into the eye and the Imperium believes they are dead or lost forever.

The Nine Legions War rages across the eye causing more space marine deaths than the Horus Heresy did amongst their brothers.

Emperors children and World Eaters have lost more warriors to each others blades than any other legion.
Thousands Sons are all but murdered by Ahriman and his cursed Rubric.
Few can deal with the Death Guard since their loss to the God of Life and Death.
The Night Lords are scattered in fragmented numbers at most.
The Iron Warriors rule over its isolated batsions, rising only to trade and raid at teh vanguard of daemonic machine hordes.
No one knows what became of the Alpha Legion.

More to come before we officially start

All the living Primarchs from the 9 legions have all ascended and play the games of the pantheon.

The Word Bearers stick mostly to themselves and still preach the word.

Deathraven and Akkad:

The screams from the lower decks can sometimes be heard in your quarters as slaves are pushed to their limits or just sacrificed for sport by the masters aboard The Skinner (so aptly named). Neither of you know where Corvis will plan his next strike but it can't be soon enough. You have been stuck on the ship for far to long and the Night Lords and their ways do tend to get under your skins after some time.

You both have free reign throughout the ship except for the engine rooms where not even the Night Lord crews visit except for their leader as the machine spirit is very temperamental sometimes.

While doing whatever your doing in your quarters there is a familiar soft bang at your doors. You know it's servitors probably bringing a message as this is how you are normally contacted.

Ulasht:

You saw it happen but couldn't believe it. Lupercalios overrun by the Emperors Children and whoever else they could muster to assist in the assault. They stole Horus remains and so many of your brothers died that day so close to extinction your legion has become. If it was not for Falkus Kibre you may have also been one of the fallen but the Widowmaker was to smart to fall in this battle he knew your legion could not win and fled barely making it out aboard the Baleful Eye.

About 2 months after the fall a Word Bearer by the name of Sargon Eregesh turned himself over to Falkus on a refueling space port. Sargon could not talk but was a Sorcerer much like you and used reanimated bodies to talk for him. He told Falkus he knew what the Emperors Children plans were with Horus Remains and where they could find the Vengfull Spirit. This disgusted and gave him new hope for his legion and sent out word to his closest allies to meet at the long-dead Sons of Horus Battle Cruiser His Chosen Son.

It is now approximately 4 months since Lupercalios fell and you are almost at your destination.

Herodius:

Four months ago your captain Telemachon Lyras was asked to assist in the raid on Lupercalios by Fabius and he could not turn down the offer to shed blood. Your warband didn't care who's blood fell as long as you were doing the killing. The attack was a success and the Sons of Horus are all but extinct now.

All has been quite since that battle until Commander Kadalus Orlantir requested your warbands assistance with hunting down some of the Sons of Horus who escaped from Lupercalios. Having nothing else to do Telemachon agreed and your warband is on it's way to a destination hidden in the Eye where they are supposedly gathering.

Draex and Plague Marine (need your chars name):

Aboard the Fifteen Fangs frigate is never a dull moment. The World Eaters are always training pushing themselves to their limits and trying to control the nails that bite deep into their skull bringing them such pain and rage. Your aboard Lheorvine Ukris ship with 50 of his Fifteen Fangs brothers (Draex being one of them).

The World Eaters usually laugh and poke jokes at the Death Guard who they graciously host aboard their ship but they do enjoy the death and destruction he brings in battle.

Draex is Lheorvine's Seargant and second in command aboard the vessel. While doing whatever your both were doing a call over the Vox from Lheorvine summoning you both to the command bridge.

Deathraven was in the arming room, charging his armor, when the knock came. He had just finished repainting his armor in a dark grey, the better to fade from view in the darkness aboard the Night Lord's vessel. The action was a symbolic one as well as a prudent one, as he no longer recognized the Dark Angels as his brothers.

"Enter."

His voice was low and sonorous, inviting, but his hand strayed to the plasma pistol on the table, nonetheless.

Deathraven:

An overused looking servitor enters the room. The machine thing looks like it hasn't been serviced by any tech-adepts in a long time and was barely holding itself together. It speaks in vox like robotic voice.

"Captain Corvis requests your presence on the command bridge."

It stands idle awaiting your response.

Akkad knelt in prayer, a single candle made from the fat of sacrificial victims burning between him and his banner, casting a faint light little known on this ship. The banner was made from the skin of a Raven Guard on Istvaan V, tattooed with scripture and iconography before being delicately removed from the live prisoner. At the knock, he put on his helmet, and extinguished the candle.

"You may enter." He rose, and turned towards the door.

Akkad:

A servitor enters the room. The looks like it went through severe mutations before being lobotomized as it has extra fleshy limbs. It's missing it's jaw which was replaced by some kind of vox system. It speaks in vox like robotic voice.

[b]"Captain Corvis requests your presence on the command bridge."[/b[

It stands idle awaiting your response.

Deathraven grunted in response. He disliked the intrusion, but there was little that he could do but comply at this point. It wouldn't do to snub his host now.

"I will be there shortly."

He quickly re-assembled and donned his armor before moving to the command bridge. Comforted by the weight of his power fist, he wondered what Corvis wanted with him now.

Deathraven:

The servitor doesn't say anything and turns to leave and the door closes behind it leaving you alone again.

Training Cages:

Draex Roars, a sound which no human, not even a genetically engineered super human built to conquer worlds should be able to make. Breathing heavily waiting for the rage to subside. The ticking machine in his head allows for one moments pause from the constant scraping of raw nerves, being that he completely decimated his opponent in the ring. It is not war but it will do for now.

The nails are content. Never satisfied but content with today's blood spill.

Without looking back, not caring if the downed opponent still breaths he slashes the air with both Crimson Mist and blood extractor. Slating the floor in front of the ring with blood as is his ritual for being the sole contender walking from the cages signaling his victory. Surviving 3 bouts Draex walks away with a few open wounds covering his face, chest, one to the thigh. Draex Revs the legendary weapons to send the gore flying cleaning the teeth of the chains.

beep, Beep, BEEP!

a message on the inside of his visor summons him to the bridge.

On the Bridge

Draex walks on the bridge to meet Lheorvine. Now suited for war, helmet maglocked to his side and weapons cleaned and although they are strapped to his back they are still chained to his wrist. Moving steadily past servitors and hologlyphs. He meets Lheorvine.

"You summoned"

As the Fleet moves towards its rendezvous point, Ulasht decides to seek out the Lieutenant.

Assuming we are alone wherever I find him, "Lieutenant Falkus, I have concerns about the source of the information we have received. This Word Bearer why should we trust what he tells us?"

FYI. The Avatar pic is what my custom helmet, not what my face looks like.

Ulasht:

Ok, Falkus goes by Chieftain of the Duraga kal Esmejhak warband which your now part of.

Falkus stares at Ulasht for a while before responding. The warp has taken it's toll on this ancient warrior, once a proud captain of the Sons of Horus. His chaos rage kept in checks only by his will.

"I don't completely trust him either that's why he's bound in chains and in our prisons but if he does know where the Vengful Spirit is we need to take that chance. With it we can strike back at the Emperors Children on Harmon to retrieve Horus remains. If what he says is true and they plan on cloning the Primarch and using it to their whim then these wars are all but over and our legions is dead.

He pauses a moment.

"We can't do this alone though, that's why I have summoned the others. Our ships took a lot of damage during the battle and will need the aid of others for where we are going."

Deathraven:

You make your way to the command bridge without much interruption. The slaves all move aside as you move through the corridors lowering their head as to not look you in the face as they pass.

You enter the command bridge and it's buzzing with activity. You see servitors, mutants and slaves working the controls and Covis sitting on his "throne" with one other Night Lord next to him talking. The Word Bearer is no where to be seen.

Corvis sees you enter and motions for you to come over.

Draex:

When you enter the Bridge you see the normal servitors and slaves working the controls. They pay you no mind as you walk in to talk to your captain. The Death Guard is not here.

Lheorvine grins as you walk to him and he slaps you hard on the shoulder.

"Working hard brother very good!" he laughs hard.

He turns his attention down to the control panel attached to his chair.

"We received a request for meeting with Falkus Kibre at our normal meeting grounds. It sounded kind of urgent. I have instructed the slaves to set course but wanted you to get the men ready just in case things go sour."

"There must be a way to send an advance team to the site he informed us of. To go blindly to a trap may also be the end of us Chieftan".

Draex obtains his instructions: Ready the men and prepare for a meeting.

"What seems to be the urgency, do you suspect... a pause interrupts his thoughts as a spasm sends fire down his spine.

" the Sons of horus betrayers to us." clutching the chain attached to his main hand in a murderous fist.

" Give me the word and I shall dispatch all of them and their busted ship. They will be on the crimson path before they realize their dead"

Draex grins from ear to ear opening a fresh wound on his face.

Ulasht:

He shakes his head.

"It's impossible. I only know of one warrior who can get us to the Radiant Worlds safely and I doubt he would just go on my behest without all of us going together."

He places his hand on your shoulder pauldron.

"Do not worry brother, if this Sargon is lying to us I will let you be the one to flay him alive."

Draex:

Lheor laughs loudly.

"I'm sure you would brother, but I trust Falkus as much as I trust the rest of my brothers on this ship. We fought side by side many times before and during the Horus wars. If he has called for us it must be for good reason."

"Very well. I shall keep a close eye on him for signs of falseness. He will be the first whose blood is spilled if he has betrayed us".

Draex nods in understanding.
"Consider it done, the men shall be prepared. "

Draex gives some kind of informal salute beating his fist twice over his heart and exits to prepare the men.

"Shall I prep the death guard should we cross paths" inquires as he walks off

Draex:

"I already summoned that disease infested creature to come."

He nods and slams his fist to his chest as well as you leave.

Draex Exits

Akkad grabs his bolter, holsters it, and says to the servitor, "Inform him I accept his request and am on my way."

He leaves his cell, holding the crozius before him like a ceremonial mace and chanting prayers to chaos as he heads to the bridge.

Akkad & Deathraven:

Akkad makes it to the bridge seconds behind Deathraven as he is making his way to Corvin.

The bridge is buzzing with activity as the servitors and slaves work their instruments and Corvin is talking with another Night Lord at his seat as he motions for you to approach.

The Night Lord with Corvin is his lieutenant and seems to always be by his side.

"Good, now everyone is here. I wanted to inform our guests in person that we will be diverging from our usually huntings and be meeting up with an old friend. I'm sure you all know Falkus Kibre also known as the Widowmaker, Chieftain of the Duraga kal Esmejhak warband. Well, he has requested we meet up with him at the long-dead Sons of Horus Battle Cruiser, His Chosen Son."

He pauses for a moment running his hands through his long dark hair staring at both of you. His skin is very pale much like others from his legion.

"I have heard rumors that Lupercalios has finally fallen to the forces of the Emperors Children, but these are just rumors of course. If it is true and Falkus is calling for our assistance then things must really be dire. I have no love for the Sons of Horus but Falkus is as close an ally as any of my own brothers so we will go to this meeting ground as per his request."

"If you do not wish to partake in any activities with the former Warmasters legion state so now and we can jettison you into the void."

He grins slyly. "I kid of course I would never do that to such good friends such as yourselves. But to be serious I wanted you both to be aware of where we were going and who we are meeting with so there are no surprises or jumpy gun fingers. Understand?"

Ulasht:

Falkus nods to you and touches his two fingers to his chest as the sign of respect for his brother in the old ways of their home world.

"I'll call for you when we reach our destination. You will come with me as part of the boarding party to meet with the others."

Deathraven cocks his head slightly at Corvis and his attempt at humour.

"Have you informed The Son of Horus that you're bringing company, Captain?"

Deathraven & Akkad:

"Of course not. What fun would that be? Oh, I do like what you have done with your armour but why hide your true colors brother?"

Deathraven lifted his power fist and gazed at it for a moment before answering.

"I am not hiding anything, brother. I am revealing my true nature. My loyalist kin would see me dead. I share no bonds with them. When it serves my purpose, I will consider recreating that livery, but only to further my own goals."

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

"I look forward to seeing the Sons of Horus and how they have fared through these trying times. We were defeated and repulsed, but it is merely the beginning of a Long War which may last even a thousand years, and with faith we will see it through to its end."

Just some general info. Right now there is no such thing as a "Long War" per say. It's just the 9 traitor legions fighting each other for control and slaves in the Eye of Terror. Most of the Imperium thinks the 9 traitor legions are either all dead or got sucked into hell and will never see them again. There is not much unity between the traitor legions outside of their warbands.

Akkad & Deathraven:

Corivs looks between the two grinning.

"Indeed it will be good times I'm sure. We should arrive at the destination in about 2 weeks time. Make whatever arrangements you need as both of you will be accompanying me aboard the ship."

A low, grumbling chuckle issues from Deathraven's throat.

"It's been a long time since I served in an honour guard, brother."

Deathraven & Akkad:

"Oh the honor is all mine brother." he grins with a giant smile showing his sharpened teeth.

The warp hasn't seem to affect Corivs as much as some of his other brothers but his mental state is another matter all together.

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

The Imperium may think we are defeated for all time, but chaos cannot be denied. Dibs on coining "Long War."

"I look forward to the meeting."

Akkad & Deathraven:

"Good, now be gone I have things to attend to."

He is obviously lying and just doesn't want to talk to you two any more. He always does this after he's done saying what he wants.

You guys may interact with each other or just prepare for the journey to your destination.

Deathraven turns and exits the bridge. He slows down once he exits

I want to check the guards to ensure nothing unusual has taken place with the prisoner.

Ulasht:

You enter the prisons and the two Sons of Horus guards nod at you as you approach and do not question you entering knowing who you are.

You see Sargon kneeling on the floor in what appears to be prayer. His features look like that of a very young adeptus astartes even though you know he is well over 600 years old which kind of makes you uneasy. His head is bald with the scriptures like that of his brothers on his skin and wears a crimson red robe.

You know he can not speak due to a wound taken by a blood angel during the siege on Terra.

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

Akkad follows Deathraven, and falls in line next to him outside the bridge.

"Enlighten me, son of Caliban, how goes your time with the sons of Nostromo? It has been quite the experience for me, but I sense that the gods desire me to walk a new path in my pilgrimage soon."

Deathraven looks at the Dark Apostle, seeming to take measure of the man before answering.

"In the years since Caliban's fall, I have seen many so-called warriors. I've killed a number of them who laid claim to the title without the skill to support their boasts, even those that I once called 'brother.' These Night Lords know their craft and exercise it with extreme conviction. I will wage war beside them faithfully, until my own path diverges from theirs, and at that time, I hope to part ways amicably. I have learned much in my short time with them. Their psychological warfare techniques make them truly worthy of the reputation envisioned by their Primarch. But there are other ways of making war in the galaxy. To reach my own goals, I must master many of them."

Deathraven continues walking towards the crew quarters.

"So the gods choose your path for you?"

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

Akkad keeps looking forward in the gloom, as if on parade.

"I do not question their skills in battle, but their purpose. They do not fight for any reason except the joy of bringing pain and fear, asides from a spiteful desire to tear down the Imperium because they built it. If there is nothing more to life, than I might as well take up the good captain's offer to leave the ship post-haste."

He stops, and turns to his companion. "The gods do not choose my path for me. I choose their path. It is a subtle difference, like the degree of difference between a kill shot and a miss. Their path is the path to ascension and glory, for all of humanity, a path away from inevitable deterioration and extinction." Akkad picks up the march again.

"Why do you think they know better than humanity? What makes them so powerful if they could not prevent the Warmaster's defeat? It is said that he had their favour. If their favour doesn't lead one to victory, I fail to see the purpose of giving them fealty."

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

"Is raw power what makes a god? If so, perhaps you could worship a plasma engine. You do not understand the nature of the divine. They are a whole different order of existence from us, free from material limitations like space and time. Without the power of the warp, we would be chained to a single star, the galaxy denied to us. The power of the warp is the power of the gods, and material things such as cause and effect are beneath them. That is the nature of the gods - to transcend mortal and material limitations we could never otherwise overcome. They do not need fealty, they only desire amusement, and they will have it from us. That is the horror of the primordial truth. that we are playthings to cruel and capricious monsters. But it is the truth, and only the cowards of the Imperium hide from it. Embracing it is our only chance."

Deathraven chuckles at that.

"The only thing I have to embrace is the inevitability of my own death. I will not be the plaything of some warp spirit. I could go back to the corpse-God for that. I've had more than enough of the lies of others."

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

"Ha! Death is only inevitable for material beings, for I will be without beginning and without end when I ascend, and the greatest lie ever told is that chaos can be denied. Let's move on, theology is a deep topic and I have taken up too much of your limited time. I look forward to meeting with the Sons of Horus, and seeing what has become of the sons of Fulgrim. The Prince of Excess is their master, and she does not teach self-restraint."

Deathraven merely nods and continues on in silence.

Menstras:

Covris turns to you after the other two leave.

"Keep an eye on them. With the turn of events need to ensure they are on the same page as us. If what I heard is true I'm sure Falkus will want our assistance with something big and everyone needs to be on board for that if we agree to it."
