Good idea, your chances of finding a soldier stationed here with no family is higher. I'll wave the roll this time. Do note that the soldiers knows each other very well so impersonating one will be more difficult.

Well the one thing Balentyne is not short of is soldiers, you have seen many relaxing and enjoying themselves around the taverns and during the evening at the Lords dalliance where you stay. A few pints to loosen their tongues might land you what you are seeking.

If you enter with the performance group yes it may get you close to those in charge, but we can't fight our way out from the inside. We need to take out the underlings first. We should look into the group that scouts beyond the wall. It would be terrible for them to meet an unfortunate accident. Yes do what you can tonight. Find out if any officers or other men live outside the keep and have homes. It would be much easier to deal with them first."

"Ha. You and I have common interests," Randu nods approvingly. Randu hopes to have his due one day, a castle as he should have inherited, and servants to staff it. Pretty servants would be even better.

When he sees where things are going between Drogan and Vex, he hides some amusement. "I'll find out what I can and leave you be"

He seeks out this Elin and that performer he spoke too earlier.


Neither is difficult to find for you and a piece of silver in the common room of the Lord's Dalliance gives you the quickest route to the performer's lodgings. As you knock on the door to her room, she opens it heading out. At first she seems surprised, then she recognizes you and her faces assumes a more guarded look. "Good Sir, what can I do for you?" she asks.

"I didn't mean to startle you," Randu says truthfully, "but you have a fine voice, and I was hoping you might allow me the pleasure of buying you a meal and sharing it with you? "


She smiles, this is clearly not the first time she has had an invitation like this. "A where might we dine my lord," she inquires playfully now more at ease with the situation.

Could you give me a hint of what you want out of this endeavour with her?

"You know this town better than I," He smiles, "Some place with good food, yet where we might not be crowded out?"

Fair point. He's hoping to get her to slip any more information that might help their mission, in pretty much any form. She might nnot know the town defenses well, but she might know something about commanders and the like. He hopes to play up his own 'soldier for hire' angle as a reason to be interested in possible employers and see what she knows about them. And while not a 'face' class, he's got a good charisma so here's hoping he at least doesn't offend.

Erodin decides to give Vex and Drogan some space. Finding himself back in the common room, he decides to chat up the guards gathered at the Lord's Dalliance. " 'nother long day o' soldierin', eh? Hows about I get ya somethin' ta drink." He calls the waitress over and buys a round of ales for the table. Maybe they'd tell him something interesting. Maybe they would just help him pass the time.


Randu:
"You are indeed in luck Sir, I might know just the right place," she retorts. Your companions leads you through the crowded streets of Aldencross to a minor square close to the market square. You notice how she greets a few along the way mostly soldiers. Clever girl doing her best to be save. She stops at a smaller house and finds a table for the two of you. An older woman greets her warmly. "This is Mama Giuseppe, she makes the best beef stew in the land," she says smiling and continues: "We are in luck tomorrow she would have been to the watchtower to serve the Garrison." During your conversation over dinner you slowly shift her towards the commanders of the watchtower and she lets a few things slip: "Well I have only seen the Lord once, it was for a holy day, I guess he is as pious as they say. The youngest of the captains, Zack sure is handsome, no as handsome as you good sir, but close, I wonder who entertains him? On the other hand you have captain Franz, sour and old, I wonder how he keeps beautiful Kaitlyn happy, perhaps he doesn't?"

Erodin:
They light up in smiles. "Good man, come join us will ye?" they offer thankful for the gesture. "I sure am happy not to be on post to night," one continues. "Yes and after that drill today, I am exhausted," one continues. "I could be worse you could be freezing with Capt. Varning and the rangers," a third offers.
In summary you learn that the guards are divided into for companies each different in armaments under the command of a captain. The rangers are heading out on a small patrol tomorrow. Shifts rotate among the four companies. There are roughly a dozen guards on patrol on various positions throughout the watchtower.

Day 3

The evening and night concludes with out any interference from men or gods. You awake the next morning and make your way down to the common room where the dwarves are just concluding the morning meal and ale before they head of to work at the castle. On the way out one of the workers inquire with the foreman. A grumbling reply brings silince and compliance.

In Dwarven:

"Barnabus am I working on the battlements again, I don't like the height." Grumbling Baranbus retorts: You can always cling to the stonedroppers."

The plans of the day?

"One of the captains is out hunting beyond the wall. We should find them and see to it he has an accident. Perhaps they use a camping spot while there. I'm sure some know a way to contact him. Let us see what we can gather so Randu can track them down. We will approach as guards sent to find him for some urgent matter. This will get us close enough to spring our assault I think."

Drogan finishes his meal and starts asking around town of the captain and where he likes to camp with his men.

Day 2:
"Oh? Is this Kaitlyn as pretty as yourself? I find it hard to believe," Randu smiles.

"At last, a hunt of our own," Randu says pleased, "Maybe I can track him once we get the general area."


Randu Day 2:

"You flatter me good sir, Kaitlyn is perhaps the most beautiful women in Aldencross," she replies. Your compliment is accepted with joy, but detect a faint hint of jealousy when she compliments Kaitlyn.

Fortunately Capt. Varning is a well known and beloved hero of Aldencross as he personally slew a bandit lord plaguing the region some six years ago. While he normally takes most of his scouts a few is always left behind and one of them rather quickly reveals that while the patrol route varies they almost alwyas make camp at Freeman's Rock by day 3.

Randu Day 2:

"Not as many as you would think," she smiles and adds: "Capt. Mott is a fearsome man, I know of only few brave enough to cuckold him. Pausing she looks eager to share something with you and finally after what seems ages she continues: [b]"It is only a rumour, but Bellam mentioned one night at closing that he thought she might be having an affair with Capt. Zack none the less." Finally having said it she seems to loosen up having let go of the stress.

Days 3 and 4
While there isn't much to go one another pint with the remaining scouts earns you just enough information for Randu to piece a crude map of the surrounding terrain together in his mind and plan a route to Freeman's Rock.

The first obstacle is getting past the watchwall, how do you plan to do this? Through the watchtower, sailing on the lake or something entirely different?

We entered the town under the disguise as an adventuring group so I think we go through the gates looking to make a name for ourselves.

Days 3 and 4

As you set out on your quest the guards greet you when you pass under the archway and through the watchtower. "Take care," one of them says and as he waves you off.

Outside Balentyne much is as you saw on your passage to Sakkarot's camp. The nature is beautiful in its untamed state. Passing through pine forest you make your way in the direction of Freeman's Rock. You make good speed as Randu expertly guides you through the free land north of Talingarde.

By the second day you reach Freeman's rock, a good day ahead of when you expect Capt. Varning and his rangers to arrive. Pausing for a moment you can understand why the good captain loves this place. The flat rock is elevated above the rest of the landscape and overlooks both forest and lake.

Vex makes sure she looks the part. A bit travel wary, on her way to town. So not the cleanest she's been. But clean enough to show off her assets. When night falls, she makes sure her companions are ready in case things go south. She just hopes they are decent enough to capture her instead of just killing her... once that everything is right. She makes her way to their camp

"Zull scout around to let us know when they approach. We will set up camp as the adventure party we are. Vex will be our temptress flirty bard. I will keep my disguise as a soldier wishing to become a knight in service to the blasted sun god. When they approach Vex and I will do the talking. We will tell them we were told of this place by the scout in town. We were to come here if we ran into too much trouble. Zull if they put down there weapons at anytime to wash or relieve themselves in the woods or whatever, you will steal them. Once we gain the advantage we attack. If this goes into the night Vex will try to use her charms to bed the captain and kill him. We will deal with the others. Any questions?

Day 5
Having spend almost a day at Fremann's Rock Zull approaches you late in the afternoon "7 men on horses approach from the south east," he eagerly shares before flying off in the indicated direction.

Perhaps half an hour later you hear the horses as they make their way to grassy land just beneath the rock. A few minutes later the Ranger appear, let by the Capt. presumably. "Greetings fellow travellers," he calls out but the stature of the men betrays their merry greetings, they are on guard.

"You are right my good man," Varning relents easing the grip on his weapon, but while his men now seem mostly at ease the captain still rests his hand gently on the pommel. "What brings you out here?" he inquires while he gestures for his men to scout the location and begin setting op the camp. They swiftly comply.

There are several places to hide, not anyone very close to the camp site, none on the rock itself you would have to be in the forest souround the rock. The rangers like it for a reason.

If you still hide, please roll or take 10 on a stealth.

I will update the rangers quick search once you decide.

Varning smiles, both compliments go down very well. "I am not sure this is the best place to so. While we camp here we do have patrols to complete." Pausing before continuing: "You look like an able man, but without training this is a dangerous place, perhaps a few years in the army would be a good idea before going adventuring." Vex's charm hasn't gone unnoticed and once Varnings had made his suggestion to Drogan he focussed fully on the woman. "Brave of you to follow him outhere. Are you also considering adventuring?"
