Stella followed Kleora looking each of the items over and exclaimed over a cute, but functional backpack. Picking it up she would look at her as she mentioned sharing a bedroll and spotting the blush, she in turned blushed her halo brightening just slightly.

"Oh, ahh, well....that is very kind of you. I may take you up on that offer should I need too. As for money I should have enough to make these simple purchases." Thinking on it she would pull out a few coins.

"These coins are acceptable. I never thought to ask. I know some countries don't accept the same currency."

After a pause the voice in his ear says


This device or machine is not identifiable and does not occur in available database. Its construction is similar to a robot but I cannot identify its purpose, although it does have a number of generic tools built into its apparatus. It appears to be missing a power supply.

When Ritmush does his best to explain what the goggles have told him to Val, the girl scrunches up her face, as if she is thinking hard. The she asks him to identify some other devices on the work bench.

Ritmush scans the bench with the goggles and the voice tells him


These devices are unidentifiable also. However, the large cylinder shaped device matches almost perfectly with the left rear of the robot machine in the corner. It is possible that the cylinder is a depleted power supply and if recharged could activate the machine allowing for further examination of its characteristics.

After this information is learned, Ritmush and Val work together to attach the power supply to the robot machine. The two stand waiting anxiously to see something happen, but the robot remains lifeless.

Of, well, maybe there are still parts missing Val says to Ritmush as she shows him the door and bids him good day

Ritmush is walking down the street when he hears a scream come from the house he just left

Meanwhile…

Ritmush, Stella, Kleora, John, and Azoriah have all finished their different errands and just happen to meet in the street outside of the general store when they see Ritmush coming toward them from the east, and then hear a loud scream.

Stella had been talking pleasantly with Kleora finding herself enjoying a pleasant conversation.

Then the scream sliced through her ears and she had sudden visions of goblins coming around a corner with bloodied dog slicers.

Turning her head looking for source of the scream.

As Unbolath finishes his business with shopkeeper, donning his new cloak, and issuing the command words for the protective spells to ensure functionality. They discuss some other terms of business and he makes his other purchases. As he packs up and is ready to leave, joining the others outside, the scream is heard.

"Well that doesn't sound good." Holding the warscythe in one hand Azariah took off at a run towards the screams. She wasn't as quick as others, in the heavy armour she preferred to wear, but that never stopped her before.

The discussions with Stella were quite pleasant, Kleora found herself missing the company of another woman, especially one as lovely and exotic as Stella. As they were heading towards the meeting place everyone agreed to the loud scream occurred and, much like Stella, Kleora looked around quickly to try and determine not only the source, but what it might be about.

Ritmush who had until that moment been bobbling down the road with an idiot grin on his face as he muttered under his breath. Occasionally tilting his head at things on the road or smiling at pedestrians. The bulky goggles on his face making the distinction between Deliriously and Murderously happy hard to determine. The amount of dark oil on his hands' wrist and brow not helping to make the distinction easier.

Then the scream occurs and Ritmush immediately frowns previous mood popping like a soap bubble,he looks in the direction and bolts back the way he came.
"Gah!ah'forgoh'ah'trap'ah'you'mohronhow'samahspose'dtahcombackantalktahhera bouh'robotstuffifsheain'got'sanahlegs'andthenshewon'beabl'tacookbacon'cuzsh eain'abletareachtha'stove! MLLAARRRGGERRRAAAGGHHSFFF!" The grease spattered human gibbers as he runs

Val! hey Valy! where ya'h ah?" Ritmush shouts as he looks around for signs of his friend. The human moving quickly to the workshop he had left a few moments prior.
"Ya'h in here Val!? Ya alrigh'? " Ritmush asks as he attempts to open the door to the shop.

Ritmush continues his frenzied movement and scampers to the nearest available entrance hoping his new "robots and bacon" friend is aright. Hes going to move to the door of Khonnir's place and open it.

Gahh! Yes, it was in my brain as I typed the post but then it never actually happened. Not enough coffee yet.

Portia leaves the shop with Unbolath. She is absorbed in her own mind, wondering what in the world Unbolath would have need for all the various things he purchased. Give her a treetop forest and she would be quite content.

She hears the scream, but somehow doesn't put everything together as she stands there trying to process everything.

Maybe I created a bit of confusion, sorry, but everyone is now in the street, near the general store, which is to the west of Khonnir's tavern/residence/workshop. I will post an update about who has taken an action in round 1, but please forgive me as I cannot access the map, and I might start using two separate maps just so I can keep track of things at all times

Kleora caught sight of Ritmush running to the place the scream seemed to come from and quickly ran to him, she managed to slip in the door just before him and look for the source of trouble.

Round 1…

Hearing John shout that he thought the scream came from Khonnir’s place, and seeing Ritmush, the young man she had only met the night before suddenly turn and sprint back that way, Kleora is moving before she has a moment to wonder what the others are planning. She reaches the door just as Ritmush is twisting the handle of the doorknob, and when the boy pulls the door, which blocks him a bit, Kleora slides into the room beyond.

Unbolath takes a quick moment to cast a protective spell and then moves quickly, but not at a run in the direction following Kleora, and Stella is hot on his heels.

Portia exchanges glances with john and Azariah, eyeing the strangers for a moment and wonders what they will do. John notices Portia looking at him, and he looks at Azariah and it throws them all off for a moment, and then almost as one, the three run towards the House where Kleora and Ritmush are.

When Kleora enters the house, she realizes she has come in through the back door and is in an unfamiliar place, but the layout of the house is similar to others in the town and she knows she is in a place the locals call the Back Hall, a boot cleaning place, and a place to hang cloaks and robes on the wall. In front of here are two doors one on the left and one on the right, which should lead to bedrooms, if she is not mistaken, while to her right, about ten feet down the hall is a door that should lead into the main house.

Suddenly there is a loud sound from inside the house (it comes from Kleora’s right)

Azariah moved in, cursing the heavier armour she preferred to wear for slowing her down as she did. She was determined to reach the battle. True, she wouldn't do much once there, but she was going to be there in case she had a moment to catch her breath and do something to help.

Seeing this side of the house is crowded and knowing there is a door somewhere on the other side Mosby takes off at a dead run. When he comes around the corner and sees the window he stops and looks in the room.

With all the subtlety and grace of a drunken ox Ritmush rushes to the door ahead of him and surveys the room, charging over to his newly made friend with a look of concern.
"Oh'good'yer'alrigh'ah'dthough'ah'lefta'trap'rsomethin'anya'dgottendis'intr agrafted er somethin'" Ritmush babbles as he looks at his Val scrutinizing her arms and legs to be sure that yes these we still the same limbs and he hadn't incinerated his friend.
"Yeh' are al'righ yeah? Hrmm.. buh' why'd ya scream if nothin' happened? Hey dih' ah' hear something thumpin', yah' got ah' badger infestation er' somethin'?"

I'm assuming the interior door is unlocked and Ritmush can make a bee line for his friend. Do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. As she was last in the workshop it seems reasonable he'd go that way first keeping an eye out for "Val shaped" things.

Seeing the young Ritmush barrel past her Kleora moved to follow him since he seemed to know where he was going. She reached the room he went to and stepped to the side of the entrance along the wall to avoid being in the way. "What's wrong? We heard screaming."

Stella moved into the house and moved past Azariah, more concerned about the loud crunching noise she heard.

Looking down the hall she saw people taking care of the lady she looked at the door in front of her and quietly tried to open it and peak inside.

"I too heard the scream. It may simply be a startled reaction to an unexpected vermin, but all the same, I try to remain wary, perhaps too much so, but it has kept me alive so far. I am attempting to view in this window here to determine if anything can be observed."

As these newly met strangers rush toward the house ahead of them (some know it as Khonnir’s home, others do not) the sound of wood being broken grows louder.

Round 2, wrap up

Kleora and Ritmush rush into the main room of the house and see a startled young woman hiding under a table. When she sees the strangers enter the room, this woman seems to recognize both of them after a moment, and quickly scrambles out from under the table.

Kleora:
You have only recently learned that this young woman is some kind of apprentice, possibly employee of the man known as Khonnir Baine. You have only met her in passing, when the tavern was still opened and do not know her well

When Ritmush asks the girl if there is a badger infestation, a puzzled look crosser her face and she raises her arm pointing back down the hall where the two just came from.

At that moment Stella reaches the Door and puts her hand on the latch.

Meanwhile, outside, Unboilath has gone around to the side of the house and sees a strange site.

Unbolath:
You reach the window in time to see a metal machine like creature, almost human like, as it begins tearing at the north wall of the room.

Portia arrives and comes up next to Unbolath, as John reaches the window on the far side of the house.

Just as Azariah enters the hall of the home a loud crash startles Stella, and Ritmush and Kleora are showered with wooden splinters, plaster, and pieces of debris.

Unbolath, Portia, and John watch as this strange creature breaks through one of the interior walls of this house, moving out of the room that they are looking in to.

A strange looking metal like monster has just crashed through the wall behind Kleora and Ritmush. It is about five feet tall, walks on three legs, and has three articulated arms.

The young woman screams again, and covers her face and the strange monster launches a strange net from a concealed compartment in its chest.

The net launches into the still flying debris and falls, snagged on some wood, to the floor.

Kleora gave a muffled cry of surprise as the wall came down next to her and quickly stepped away from it, just as a net shot out at Ritmush and missed him. She began to chant and gesture and suddenly a patch of grease appeared on the floor beneath the construct's feet.

Round 3 Whenever Unbolath goes next..

Seeing the potential danger inside the home, and noting the destruction occuring, Unbolath decides to head inside. He will move back along the wall to the door and enter that way.

Ritmush on being directed to turn around looks behind him at the wall puzzled. "Oh righ'tha robot! Wait wasn' it tur'-"
Any more of his words cut off with the sounds of chunked wall the young human hears the press of a air and suppresses the desire to gloat when the machines net goes wide.
" Val! When'tha heck'd tha' star' workin' again?!? Diana why'd ya ferget to mention that this might be ah' Murderous Robot earlier?" Ritmush exclaims in exasperation looking from the robot to Val. The scruffy one reaches an arm down to help Val up and points to the door
"C'mon, we need tah' get outta' here!"

Ritmush will assist Val in getting out from under the table and escape with her out the rooms door. Would be a shame if she got crushed by a rampaging robot after all.

Round 3…

A patch of slippery grease suddenly materializes below the strange creature. It covers the floor and spreads up the broken wall behind the monster and into the room beyond.

The machine’s legs start to move in different directions as it loses its footing and then it topples over onto the floor.

Ritmush grabs Val by the arm and heads out the door to the north
Unbolath moves quickly to get inside

John, seeing the creature crash through the wall, moves a few feet to the north, and then smashes the window of the house, aims his weapon through the broken window and fires

The bullet smashes into the body of the machine and sparks fly out of the hole

I’ll give Stella and Azariah till tonight to post and then I will post the round three Drone’s actions regardless

Stella quickly scanned the robot from where she was looking to see if she could find a way to stop the creature without destroying it and how to do so safely.

Stella studies the machine, looking for clues, but nothing about this machine seems familiar. It seemed to have the same operating principle as a Necromechadon, but did not exhibit any features that would make it stand out as one of those things. She knew that her exposure to the strange hybrid of machine and necromantic arts was limited, but she had seen enough of the “play-things,” of the wealthy of Rhandilinskenburg to know that they usually incorporated the remains of a deceased human or humanoid creature in some way (most of the very popular Necromechadons in the city resembled elaborate dolls not altogether too different from Oscar, but with a typical, undead look to them).

No, this machine looked like it was all machine, and no undead, but who could tell if there wasn’t some once living thing hidden away inside the body of the creature. Stella hoped that the Necromantic arts for creating the necromechadons had not advanced on this world so far that only the smallest parts of a once living thing were required to make them work. Stella’s hunch was that this machine would not produce an aura if a spell was used to detect the presence of necromantic magic.

Portia runs to the broken window where John is standing and then leans back and tries to launch a sling bullet through the window at the prone machine, but the bullet hits the window sill instead.

Portia – I moved you to the window. Did you want to enter the house instead?

Azariah looks around the house and is set back a bit by the crowded situation, and wonders if she should risk charging through the others to reach the common room of the house or not

Lying prone of the patch of grease, the machine seems to thrash for a moment, and then it uses all of its appendages to drag itself out of the greasy floor, and then tries to stand

the drone will crawl 5 feet to the north, and then stand, this provokes attacks of opportunity from anyone with the ability to reach the drone with a melee weapon. Until the drone is actually standing, at the end of its actions, ranged attacks against it suffer a -4 penalty (correct?)

Well due to my own idiocy I forgot there was the internal wall or I would have moved somewhat more to get closer to it on round 3, as a result I am not able to take advantage of its standing from prone.

Spying a portion of the mechanical creature through the broken wall, Unbolath proceeds cautiously, rounding the corner and now with a good look at it, tries to determine if he might suspect or know anything of the construct.

"Hmmmm." he grunts in a gravelly tone.

Just a bit shy of range, Unbolath is unable to swipe at the defenseless machine as it wobbles to its feet crawling from the magical grease.

Careful to avoid the grease himself, he circles around it passing Kleora, "Pardon." and brings his sword down on the menace thinking it is best to disable it now and investigate later.

Unable to get close, Azariah instead granted John the gift of fire. For a minute his weapon would do additional damage. Hopefully the thing wasn't fire proof.

I always forget how fearsome a character with a greatsword is at low levels.
@Azariah: the character down the hallway from you is Unbolath I think. John is the guy at the windows on the other side of the house. additionally the grease is gone at the end of round 4 so thats a nice bonus. That way we can approach from multiple sides. Assuming unbolath doesn't chop the thing in half next round.
@Kleora, looks like you might want to roll a D20 instead of that D2 you got there.

Ritmush seeing the thing standing again swears and pulls out his crossbow. Stay down yah, bucket ah scrap! An' ah know ya didn' say anythin' bou a killer robot buh unless yah' gotah' way ta' talk to tha' thin' ah don' think were gonna be able tah fin' out fer sure!"

Was kina' a long ended circl-y lookin' thing ,onea' them slylanders, wit' weird looking writin' on it!" The human calls to Stella in relation to her question. Following that a strange expression crosses the humans brows as he turns to look at Val.
"Hey, yah thin' if ah' could push more 'lectricity inta' that thing tha' it woul' help or jus' make thin's worse." the human asks with little care to his surroundings seeming entirely at home in the chaos of the battle.

Round 4…

Unbolath's great sword smashes down hard on the body of the machine. A large piece of the body cracks and breaks away and the sword strikes a delicate part below. Blue and gold sparks fly out of the wound. John hits the machine with another bullet, and finally Ritmush steps back to the doorway, and hits the machine with a crossbow bolt

The machine takes a substantial amount of damage but does not fall, in fact it appears that something within the machine flashes, and then strange beeps and sizzling noises emanate from the body.

Characters whose names are in bold in the Initiative Order have not acted in this round

She asked even as she would target the creature with her small acid spray.
