Narrator - Roll20 Map

On the rolls and speed of the game, what would you be happy with?

I was going to roll your saves, AoO's and initiatives, but if you'd only like to have me roll initiatives and aren't too worried about the time it takes to get everyone to roll a save, I can do that. I'm still just finding the balance of control right now. I don't want to be a dictator.

Sebastians player also suggested I tell you all I'm planning on running with the advanced fear system and Sanity system, but that won't come into play for a little while yet. I like surprising players so was reluctant to tell you and just let you all find out, but he thought it could cause problems, so I'm just being upfront about it. It's more extra things for me to work out than any extra work for you guys, but please do play up character fears etc when such occasions come about.

I've further established what's going on in the early story, so have a lot I can play with.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Also, if you could keep all questions in the discussion thread, that would be great please. I don't want to clog the gameplay thread up with Q and A's.

Sebastian - I was going to rule that they're all spoiled once used initially, but for each arrow you want to recover, roll a percentile and anything less than twenty is recoverable. Then roll a dX to determine how many of those arrows you've successfully recovered. If you've fired 4 shots, roll a d4. 10 shots, roll a d10. X is the number of arrows you've fired.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Just waiting for Sebastian and then I can move things on. The issue is trying to keep things going with differing posting rates, without cutting people off from roleplaying.

I asked some of you how you were finding this because I'm somewhat concerned it's just going to die. I'm still happy to post until the campaign ends, but I have this little thought niggling away that people are possibly losing interest because it's taken so long to get to the first proper location in regards to the story. Then again, you said you were happy with the roleplay Three, so it could just be me reading into things and primarily this is a campaign all about roleplay. Just, with some interesting fights thrown in (that you haven't come across yet).

Im more into fighting myself, but Im reading along.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Erin - Awesome. :)

Rodrick - Ah. I thought you were eager to play because of the story when you initially said you were interested? That's why I was happy to have you on board. I need strong roleplaying from each character in this adventure for things I can't talk about (spoilers) to work. It's why I've put so much effort into re-writing everyones background for the campaign and is something I put a lot of emphasis on from the start because it's integral to the plot. Do you think you can roleplay more or will that be a problem for you? Though combat is in this, it's not the primary focus and you could go a while in some cases with no combat at all.

M Human Fighter 1 HP 16/16 l AC 16 T 11 FF 15 l Fort +4 +5vs Drugs, Poison Ref +1 Will +3

I'm still interested, pacing isn't a huge problem for as I tend to be a slow poster anyway.

Well, my choice of conflict to instigate RP is combat. I haven't seen a lot of scenes that I wanted to attach too so far, but in all honesty not much of anything has really happened so far. That's how I frame my character's development and interactions with others and the world around him. Bar scenes or idle conversations usually aren't my thing.

I will admit that it does seem like things are taking a while longer then Im used to. I think I concluded my actions in the tavern like, what, a week before everyone else?

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Yea, it was a while. All that's going on right now is character building, but I do recommend getting involved with that. Mainly, recurring characters and anything that sounds important is where it's at, plus I highly encourage at least roleplaying with the other pc's, no matter the situation.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Okay, just had a text from Sebastian's player and he's been having issues accessing this campaign for some reason. He's hoping to get back on tomorrow, but tried today and it wouldn't load for him. I'll move things forward tomorrow night, just to give him a chance to fix things/see what's wrong.

Male CN Human Fighter (Weapon Master) | HP: 15/15 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +2, W: +1 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1 | Speed 30ft |

I thought I added a nice element at the beginning of the last combat that Jura was very kind to go along with.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

I had a look, but the only interaction I can see you've had with Jura was after the combat, talking about The Count, before presumably acknowledging his response without saying a word. Aside from that, it was just standard combat stuff like "I step forward, swing my sword, cleanly cleaving the creature". I just can't put emphasis enough on getting more involved, because you'll only get out of this what you put into it.

Male CN Human Fighter (Weapon Master) | HP: 15/15 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +2, W: +1 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1 | Speed 30ft |

Well, you piled us all into a marching formation/party and I retconned to say that I had been following the group. He confronted me about that.

Good times were had. Then we moved on to survival checks.

I like minimalist storytelling. It seems you have a specific idea in mind for how you want all characters to go, but I think I've been pretty candid since the beginning in saying that Rodrick is not one for long, drawn-out conversations. I'm not trying to spoil your game, but there's a possibility of a severe miscommunication with what I thought I'd be able to get out of this game.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Yea and I think it's just trying to iron that out with Rodrick for me that needs to be done, because I see him as just existing where as his backstory gives him a whole host of reasons for deeper roleplaying. That's what I'd like to see come out, because I'm worried you just wanted him in this to be a part of the story as a mostly silent character and nothing more, when I made clear from the start that this would be roleplay heavy, mentioning it in multiple posts during the interest and recruitment phase because I didn't want anyone to miss that vital point. There was nothing minimalist about it. It's there if you want to check it out for yourself, but obviously not necessary.

Yea, the marching order for me wasn't a problem. I know you left first, but was presented with the choice of having you trek alone to the Castle Town or having the others catch up to you and you hang back through lack of trust between you all. That's why you ended up at the back.

Erin and Sebastian were together and to me, it made sense having Jura up front so he could follow his task of protecting Izsha who was just behind him. Due to the lack of interaction between yourself and the rest of the party, there was no logical reason to have you with Jura and the others and so to not risk you dying due to an unfortunate encounter, I had you fall back once you saw the others, so you could keep a watchful eye on them without too much aggro from anything else.

Hungry animals and thugs do like a lone traveller.

I have plenty of opportunities for development, sure, but nothing that really applies in the situations we've encountered so far, I feel.

I wasn't complaining about the marching order, just to be clear. Wanted to comment that that is where I inserted some RP, and Jura responded appropriately which was nice.

I aim to please.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

@Rodrick - It's often hard to convey feelings across a text based forum, but I'm the same. I thought you were slightly irked by the order and although it was a little while back now, I saw it as an opportunity to explain my way of thinking on that so you know what to expect with things to come. I don't want any of you guys to stop playing. I just want you to take on board what I've said to hopefully enrich the campaign. The main guys you could have got involved with were Clyde, Richard, Brenner and the gang, but I didn't feel it necessary to have them approach you as you were at the back of the tavern. I'm not asking you to type paragraphs, but it'd just be great if you could put a little more into it with Rodrick because I'm worried you'll miss out on stuff and won't be as invested when we reach the end of the campaign.

But yea, roleplay as much as you want with each other especially!

Hey guys, finally managed to sort my computer out so can try to keep up with the posts again. Sorry for the delays this may have caused.

Dinaeri, would you be accepting of me adding an Archtype to my Animal Companion? When I created Sebastian I didn't know there were Archtype for them, if not it is not a huge issue, just figured I should ask. The one I was looking at is Racer.

Racer

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Yea, that's fine. I used to have Bodyguard when I had my T-Rex companion in a Legacy of Fire game. They're not game breaking adjustments. I've got no problem with it. :)

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Another update later tonight. I left it as it was in case you wanted inter party chat as you ate around the fire.

Has Paizo been playing around for anyone else too, or is it just me?

Plans? Maybe time for someone talkie to step up.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

I didn't want to replace anyone, but I'm pretty certain we've lost Izsha.

I PM'd the player, but haven't had any kind of response, so I'm going to open up recruitment for one more player.

If Izsha comes back then I'd still be open to having her in the party but it's just Erin, Sebastian And Jura left now. I can leave this open to see if anyone else is interested and continue posting for you three or I can cancel the game. Up to you guys.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

Yea, that's not a problem, though I think you're the only one.

I was hoping to get a couple more players in to continue with this, but it's not looking likely.

M Human Fighter 1 HP 16/16 l AC 16 T 11 FF 15 l Fort +4 +5vs Drugs, Poison Ref +1 Will +3

Sorry for being spotty on here, never been good at Rping over PbP, especially in more freeform games like what our DM has been hoping for. DM, it was fun and thank you giving this a shot, I really do think with a more engaged group this would have worked fantastically. But with my work load mounting for Nursing I'm going to have to pull the plug on this game.

Narrator - Roll20 Map

No problem, Jura. There was a lot about to happen, but with how slow PBP can be and as you said, a more focused group, this would have been amazing. I finished Erin's story arc a while ago and the first Apostle was just around the corner!

But, such is the way of PBP. It's always better in real life, but over here Pathfinder is still very niché, so it's hard to find in-person players sadly. Though, you would have gotten this far in the first session IRL, haha.

Thanks for playing and all the best. :)

Cheers and I wish you the best, luckily over here (in my town at least) Pathfinder is one of the staple games so we have a few groups rolling around. I hope you find a group, you seem like a very cool Dm!
