"We could finish up here, and then go rest... "
Aerian starts searching the alcoves.

On the way to the shrine of the failed, the team decides to swing by the Grand Lodge and partake of the communal bunk room for Pathfinders passing through the city. They trudge in as the dawn light breaks the sky, and after a fitful sleep, trudge back out in the late afternoon and head back for the Shrine.
Ok.. No more fatigued, and we can pick up pretty much on the aforementioned description.

Aerian does the same, looking for familiar names.

Jundu, Aerian, and Black Sun all move around the room looking for names that match the note found beneath the Wounded Wisp. You stop for a moment in each alcove, reading the plaque before moving on. In one of the alcoves, Aerian thinks she might see a loose placard, and her interest catches Black Sun's attention. Between the two of them, the slide the little plate away from a small opening containing a simple chalkboard and a tiny piece of chalk.
I have updated the map to match the posts. I need a will save from Black Sun, Jundu, and Aerian please, as well as anyone else approaching the alcove.

Aerian looks at the chalk and the chalkboard and lofts a brow... "what was that password thing again? maybe it's supposed to be written, not spoken?"
Cyclic |
"It's certainly worth a try. Write Whiffle. Or was it Wiffle? Try them both or take a peek at the clue again."
It was wiffle
Aerian |
Aerian writes Wiffle on the board with the chalk.
Black Sun |
"What does 'wiffle' mean? Is it Common for 'zimpar?' I'm sorry my Taldane isn't better...."
Cyclic |
"Sounds like another word for sniffle to me. Perhaps an onomatopoeia?"
GM DevilDoc |
I apologize for my spotty posting this week and weekend. I have been spending much needed time with my son and my wife, facilitated by several unexpected days off work. Kids.. they are only young once, and you have to make the best of it when you can!
With my distractions this week, I had forgotten that note under the note and focused on the fact that you had not been to the Wall of names yet.. Yes, this alcove is dedicated to Zimpar.
As the team gathers around the alcove, you note that the nameplate reads "Zimpar: Administered to the mind-menders of Ustalav.
May they overcome the screaming fear." as a simple dedication.
The team gathers around the chalkboard and discusses the password as they try writing wiffle on the board.
With the exception of the spoiler, no one notes any response or change.
Aerian |
"Look, an open door.. we should investigate." Aerian walks through what appears to be a solid wall to all but Cyclic. that should give them all a bonus on their will saves, yes?
Cyclic |
"Another illusion? I suppose we should not be surprised. It seems our gnome wizard was an accomplished illusionist."
Cyclic follows Aerian through the door.
GM DevilDoc |
The team looks to each other as Aerian disappears through the apparently solid wall. They look to each other before moving on, entering a dark corridor seemingly cut and worked through solid rock.
Map updated. Set your tokens please.
GM DevilDoc |
1d4 ⇒ 4
The team follows Aerian through the hidden door into a rough hewn tunnel that snakes through the solid stone of the Shrines base. As you press forward suddenly from the shadows lurches some creature that seems born of your very nightmares. Shadows and light glimmer over the seams of crude stitches holding the monstrosity together.. it seems to be cobbled together from different parts of festering and rotted bodies!

Black Sun flinches a bit when she has momentary difficulty telling the golem apart from Argor, and there is an interesting *WHUMPH* sound as a wave of invisible power strikes the wall behind it.
Cyclic |
Cyclic casts bless on the party and rushes up to provide a flank to someone. If this is a surprise round, she'll need to tke back the move, but I don't think it is.
What's one more disease or two?
GM DevilDoc |
Cyclic. This is not a surprise round, but that move does put you crossing Jundu's square of Grease. Sure you want to do that?? I will allow you to change your location or make the reflex save.
Aerian dives down a separating tunnel while calling out what he knows about the creature you are facing.
Argor beefs up the walloping power of his stick, while Jundu casts a Grease spell, coating the floor around the creature.
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
The creature almost manages to keep its feet, but ends up sliding soundlessly to the floor.
Black Sun hurls a blast of gravity into the mix, but the prone target is a smaller mark, causing the blast to miss.
Cyclic casts a Blessing upon the group and strides into the fray looking to be of help.
The Golem manages to regain its feet, carefully and ponderously climbing upright before taking a step to the side, out of the goop covered floor.

Good enough for me, but I will have to impose a -2 to attack from that angle due to the rock formation jutting out between you.
Jundu continues to try and make monster kabobs, but instead continues to pepper the stone walls.
