Clearly I'm illiterate. I'm trying to get myself sorted out so I can get back in the game. I received, on my Chronicle sheet, 450gp (430 from adventure plus 20 from day job). I added that to my inventory in Herolab, easy enough. Then I recognized that I gained one experience point, which I also added to my character.
Now, are the two prestige points I received associated with Liberty's Edge, my faction?
I'm trying to figure out how much my prestige points are worth in gold so I can shop from the loot list on my Chronicle sheet.
Finally, I can buy normal stuff and sell stuff too, since we're in a decent sized town, correct? I just need to be honorable and track what I buy or sell.
I apologize for being a laggard!
GM DevilDoc |
You aren't a laggard, or illiterate! The whole pp thing can get pretty twisted. The short answer is that pp does not and cannot transfer to gold. Think of your fame/ PP as favors owed to you by your faction. For two PP, you may receive one item worth up to 750 gold. If the item doesn't cost 750, you don't get any change back. If the item is over 750, you can't use PP as part of the purchase.

As for the rest of your purchases, yes. You may buy and sell what you you'll like within the constraints of your fame score and your current gold amount.

Thanks, GM -- here's my plan (please tell me if it's OK, and I'll be rolling with my homies again):
Buy a wand of CLW for two prestige points
Sell my sling for 0, because that's what it cost lol
Sell my 30 sling bullets for 1.5sp (50% of their cost)
Buy a long short bow for 75gp 30gp edit: can't use long bow yet
Buy 40 arrows for 2gp
If the above is OK, I'll get cracking on RP and combat. Thank you all.

The hits keep coming - an area-wide internet outage just was resolved. GM, I'm going to move forward with the above changes.

For the sake of helping Dolvin and Calephe out a bit... the web universal monster ability is actually a standard action to escape. Also, they can attempt an escape artist if the strength check is too tough.
Web (Ex) Creatures with the web ability can use webs to support themselves and up to one additional creature of the same size. In addition, such creatures can throw a web up to eight times per day. This is similar to an attack with a net but has a maximum range of 50 feet, with a range increment of 10 feet, and is effective against targets up to one size category larger than the web spinner. An entangled creature can escape with a successful Escape Artist check or burst the web with a Strength check. Both are standard actions with a DC equal to 10 + 1/2 creature's HD + creature's Con modifier. Attempts to burst a web by those caught in it suffer a –4 penalty.
GM DevilDoc |
Tellerin: good catch, and thank you. My mistake! I he guess I got wrapped up in the action and went straight there instead of actually rereading the ability itself. Thank you for keeping me on track!

I'm currently hospitalized and posting this with my tablet. The internet connection is not good at the hospital. I might not be released until Friday.

So sorry to hear that good luck recovering.

Take your time, Hskoro.. best wishes for quick healing and recovery! I hope that all works out.

They kept me longer than I thought they would. But I'm better now and will make a post ingame shortly.
Hskoro Tailfeather |
Welcome back Hskoro! Hopefully the fact that they kept you longer just means that you're now totally in the clear and healthy.
Yeah. They don't release me until my Lipase enzyme count is around 60 or lower. (40 is considered normal levels). Also when I'm able to tolerate solid food without getting sick again.
I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and this was my 39th bout of acute pancreatitis which I get on average twice a year.

I am sorry to hear about this, Hskoro. I am glad that you are feeling better and home. Positive vibes for continued healing!

I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and this was my 39th bout of acute pancreatitis which I get on average twice a year.
A friend of mine suffered an acute bout of pancreatitis in his early 20s. He was on vacation so he thought it was just bad food poisoning and spent about a week ignoring it before finally going to the doctor. He went into septic shock not too long after getting to the hospital, and as his wife tells it he pulled through only barely. It took him half a year at least to recover back to eating relatively normally and having the energy to move around properly.
I've never had pancreatitis myself, but I've heard enough to know its awful even when caught on time and treated properly. Having to suffer that twice a year is hard to imagine. You have total sympathy from me.GM DevilDoc |
I believe that I owe all of you an apology for my erratic posting this week. It has been a rough couple of weeks on the homefront, and this week has seen a number of upsets to my normal schedule. Hopefully, things will have settled out and I can return to a more normal pace, both in life and in my gaming.
Hskoro Tailfeather |
My apologies again. I was hit with another bout of pancreatitis but this time it was a lot worse. I went in Monday morning and they didn't release me until Friday afternoon. I was able to get in one post while in the hospital, but then the patient wifi at the hospital didn't want to work anymore. This has just been a real bad month for me.
GM DevilDoc |
Looks like the bad luck fairies have been hitting all of us lately. I am sorry to hear this and hope that you heal quickly.
Just as a side note, have you heard about the research into synthetic pancreases? I know that they are pretty far along with the testing for insulin dependent diabetics, but I am not sure if they have reached a point that they would consider non diabetic applications. Supposedly some of these tests have moved into human trials and they seem very promising; the last report I read said something like 98% of the test subjects were free from all diabetic medications. (Caveat: I do not remember if this number is based solely on human trials, or if this number included non-human test subjects, or were just non-human subjects. I do know they have implanted in humans though.)
If this research can get authorized for widespread diabetic testing, it would be interesting to see if this could also be a cure for pancreatitis.. simply remove the pancreas and implant the module to prevent diabetes. I am sure that with everything that the pancreas is responsible for, I am very much over simplifying this process, but at least it is a bit of hope for you.
Hskoro Tailfeather |
Because my pancreas doesn't produce insulin anymore, I currently use a insulin pump to get my necessary insulin. It works the same way as the synthetic pancreas pump except the pancreas pump adds in enzymes and other stuff. I'm not sure how far along it has come on its testing but if it is approved by the FDA, most insurance companies probably won't pay for it until 10 years after approval.
Calephe |
I work in Research Administration for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Lot's of people don't know there's a research program at the VA. I took a quick look at ClinicalTrials.gov and it looks like's there are several trials going on using artificial pancreas devices. So they may be getting close.
I hope your month gets better.
GM DevilDoc |
Hskoro: I am sorry to hear this. It seems your case must be pretty far advanced. For your sake, I hope that they do get something together sooner rather than later. Perhaps you could look for some clinical trials and see if any are accepting patients in your area. clinicaltrials.gov is a good place to start.. as Calephe pointed out, but you may also be able to contact the individual companies or labs for more information.
Calephe: Hmm. I had no idea that the VA had a research department, and I have been in and around VA hospitals for years! Any research I came across was normally accredited to BEUMED or some such. Are you guys rolled into that, or a completely separate institute?
The information I had was from a research paper I did in one of my nursing classes last year, and it doesn't surprise me that they have branched out into several areas if the research is going as well as they predicted then. We can only hope.. this really does seem like it could be a cure for not only diabetes, but for a great many other applications as well. It could change the lives of so many people...

It's something not a lot of people know about and not all VA's have research programs at them. Usually it's the larger ones. It has about a 60 million dollar annual intramural program spread out across the VA system. The VA in Seattle has about 300 people who touch research in some capacity. We have Biomedical, Clinical, Epidemiologic, and Rehab projects just to name a few. If your bored or interested here's where you can find more info VA Research

Dolvin the Traveler |
I apologize for taking so long to post, part of it is that I have family in town, but I wont lie to y'all, part of it was I was scared of making those saves. I am not ready to part ways with Dolvin yet.
Tellerin Thrombast |
:> Can't blame you on that one!
At least you had 13 HP to work with, I was sitting on 4! If I failed the first 5 it would have sent Tellerin to more than his CON in negative HP right from the get-go.
GM DevilDoc |
I completely understand Dolvin! In all honesty, I hated to do that to yall. In 23 games as a PFS GM, I have yet to cause a PC death and really do not look forward to the day when it will happen! I have been holding my breath this whole time!!!
GM DevilDoc |
I have added some notes to the maps slide as a representation of the difference of the two levels where the team is from Dolvin. Climbing down will require a climb check with a rope.

In situations like this, I can't help but think "Burning Hands would be nice now." :P
