Well I wanted to give you a chance to do something with your reward before giving you another Akorian task. Also in game your new found power (level up) won't take effect until the next day.
As for encounters, don't worry. I throw one when you trigger one.
P.S. Unless I missed it you never gave your name to Granvog or a place to meet you. So while you will likely find him waiting for you when you disembark, he won't be happy or expected. ;)
Jawahar Raktavira |
Well that changes things then, I'll pitch some ideas for jawahar. The plan is to make a name in this city, maybe delve into the underworld as his own boss eventually.
As for Granvog, I may of forgotten to give my name but I did mention the docks and at noon. Worst case I deal with his wrath some more.
DM Alaion |
You may want to keep in mind it's Okeno.
They don't really have an "underworld". Their main industry is slavery after all, they don't really have a police force in the traditional sense ether. The most powerful groups control the city because they are powerful, that's why they can impose their will. No one does anything outside their own interest, keeping the peace is more profitable then complete lawlessness for example. But pretty much anything goes if you can get away with it or not step on the wrong person's toe's.
Let me know what you want to do next.
Jawahar Raktavira |
Fair enough, rather I should of said that my goal would be build a network of people, gain property, influence be that wealth or power. From there creating a small trading business that he can use as a cover to for maybe a thieves guild of sort and other trading dealings Ie: The pesh trade and slave trade. Which would probably give me enough funds to research how to ascend my fiendish blood into a full Rakshasa.
TL;DR: Climb that ladder of social mobility of Okeno, become a minor/major player in Okeno in the form of a merchant prince/warlord/crime boss/information broker. Dip my toes into merchant trade, to compete on some level with the Apis consortium and the pact masters and lastly fund my occult rituals. That's an idea anyways.
As for What I want to do, I suppose look for Granvog and pay him off. Shop for more alchemical goods and lastly look into information about other side jobs to help build myself.
Jawahar Raktavira |
Sorry, work has been harsh a little a lately. Either that or Gramork has been waring me down with his constant gloating that your other campaign is more successful.
Jawahar Raktavira |
Yes, I'm still interested just still sick. I'll post today. I don't want to abandon my first solo game, there is a lot of potential.
Jawahar Raktavira |
Well because I do stalk your other game, you know my faerun policy ;). And you did mention plane hopping could be a thing. Anyways, I wanted to ask you, what's the scope you had in mind for this adventure? Where do you picture it ending, lvl wise and is there a goal in mind you want to achieve?
DM Alaion |
I am fine making the change to faerun if you want. But I would have conditions in such a case as this story I had planned for the inner sea so it can't be transplanted just like that. Their are a number of differences after all.
As for my scope with this story. That is very much up to you, a open player driven story like this has to be flexible to a degree, so I don't micro manage or plan super far in advance sense I would have to railroad you at times. I don't like that so I wouldn't do that myself. As to the level it ends and the goal in mind, again that's on you. You are pursuing your goals and choose when your satisfied or "retire" from that path to power. I have been in some games that ended in "retirement" for the group.
The way I see it their is a reason why some villains gain power quickly while others take years or even decades to progress. The fast risers focus only on getting more powerful regardless of method or process while the slow types do so more methodical and carefully by other means that take time yet grant certain advantages that are unavailable to fast types. For example the evil warlord may take over a large piece of land with his horde, but he won't be able to hold or maintain it. At least not in the same way that wicked general that carefully allied and built his army through discipline and grooming underlings could. That's the difference between a evil kingdom that won't last more then a few decades at best and an evil empire that endures hundreds of years beneath the same tyrant or bloodline of it's founder.

Haha, I keep Faerun as a running joke of sort, I love the setting from the bits I was introduced to and have been reading on. I spoke with Gramork about it and we both say if you want to transport us so to speak, we leave that up to you.
Yeah the difference between a Genhis Khan and a Machiavellian figure Or better yet a Nobunaga and Hideyoshi. The plan I'd like for Jawahar is to get into trade, slowly become a merchant prince slowly trying to siphon business from the pact master or Apis. Then his his influence and cash for funding his research into the occult and fullfil his transformation. This would change slightly if you bring us to another setting, hmm Skullport or Zhent, maybe the Iron Throne.
Anyways I'm glad we had this little exchange, I was interested in knowing your thoughts.
DM Alaion |
Fair warning, if your going to pick a fight with the Apis or Pact Masters. You better know what your getting into. Those two are no joke and their is a reason for that.
P.S. Your the player, it's really up to you if you want to switch over. My job as the DM does not change. I just have to create the set up.
Teiidae |
The pactmasters rule Katapesh and thus the pesh trade, none know who they are. As for Aspis, they're an infamous multinational Merchant guild. I wouldn't say so much as picking a fight, more entering their business. Should they buy me out, I would be bribeable, should I be a rakshasa by that point, I could easily dissapear.
Honestly I'd love to swtich, but I'd might be inclined to stay if Gramork stays. I just like the idea that in come tangential way, we're connect via story. He is playing the good story after all. But I need to ask, what time would the game take place in and which region would you set it?
DM Alaion |
The region I am open to. I know plenty about the north but I have access to books for other parts of faerun. The border kingdoms could be interesting for example. But Waterdeep and that area is like my backyard in the forgotten realms.
As for time. Nothing during or after the spell plague. It never happened and never will as far as I am concerned. I like the golden age of 3.5e timeline where the seven sisters are around and world shaking wizards still smoke their pipes while backhanding whelp red wizards that interrupt their meal time with ease.
Anything else you want to know. ;P
Jawahar Raktavira |
So I spoke with Gramork, now he wouldn't ask to switch over to Forgotten realms, but he won't say no. I understand fully that playing in Fr will make this game that much more dangerous, but it's a risk I'm willing to make.
As for what area to play in, it's a big world and there is lots of potential. I'm willing to put in the much needed reading I'll need to do. Yeah, spellplague not happening is fine with me.
DM Alaion |
Well I have been thinking about it myself and thought up of a third option. That's right, be afraid my little ones. ;P
Anyways I was thinking of running a 3rd forgotten realms game for the both of you. You will be siblings, not necessarily blood related so everything is still open race wise and such. This would also give you a solid reason to know each other and a level of both trust and familiarity. So any traits or quarks are not misunderstood between the pair of you.
If you two are cool with that then I could start giving you more information and such. Let me know what you think here or via PM. :)
Jawahar Raktavira |
For the record I'm still here, just went through a really nasty heatwave and I hurt myself at the gym a little bit but I fell in love with deadlifting .
Anyways I'm going to send you a pm for more information about this game and the realms one.
