Bug Eater |
Bug braces himself for what looks far too disturbingly like a fair fight.
same target
dragon style. power attack
to hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 damage: 1d8 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
to hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 miss
Grenadel "Rena" Aeleanir |
The elfess is determined.
Choking and gagging, Rena presses forward and takes the freed villager's place. She looks around for anyone unaffected by the noxious cloud.
Take my dagger, free the others...
Hobgoblin or Orc |
RD 3: Yellow orogs
One casts another magic missle at Xavier:
MM: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5
While the monk resumes his pounding on bug
punch, human: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27;damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
punch,human: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 = 24;damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Bleed Damage this round since it was not stopped:
bleed: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
Xavier Longsaddle |
Does Xavier have a clear path through the cloud. The map still shows people in front of me. I want to go attack (you know me) but as the only person unbothered by the cloud I might have to drag people free at thos rate
Quiznab |
Seeing that Targus is about to go in, Quiznab staggers one step east thinking, Don't want to eat another cloud...

Was hoping when she took the next space, a non-affected (outside template/outline) villager could take dagger and free themselves, then others. Leaving all villager specifics to you, didn't want to be presumptuous or overly specific.

D:3 please (perhaps I'm mistaken about which direction is north).

Rena to E,7... F,8 is out of template.
Not to make matters worse, they they can't see beyond 5' of cloud either. MM is unerring, but caster still needs to see to target? Offline until lunch or 5pm.
Quiznab |
"Bug you loon, get out of there!"
I suggest withdrawing and downing a few healing potions :) Quiz has a potion of cure serous you're welcome to if you can get out.

You are right the fog provides total concealment and the magic missiles would not work. Xavier you have those HP back.

You actually don't know what is happening to Bug. You have no view of him. You don't even know if he is inside the boathouse.
Xavier Longsaddle |
Xavier 5ft steps foreward and continues through the cloud, stepping over a coughing prisoner to E6, as he comes out his vision clears and he attacks the back of the Orog in G5
2 hand PA, Bulls Strength, DF, Flank: 1d20 + 11 + 3 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 11 + 3 + 2 - 2 = 25
2 hand PA, DF, Destruction: 1d10 + 7 + 6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 6 + 3 + 3 = 27
He screams to the villagers Out the doors the way is clear!
Hobgoblin or Orc |
Just for clarification you are actually moving not 5 ft stepping and then moving. You can't 5 ft step and move in the same round.
It is hazardous terrain - fog and villagers - but you move behind the Orog and flank with Targus. the orog takes an AOO on you, as you move through the threaten area that is within his vision. G:6 gives you flank. F:5 is a villager.
He chops down at Xavier with his greataxe,
att: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30;damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hobgoblin or Orc |
RD 3: Red Orogs
the orog just hit by Xavier tries to hit the warpriest again,
att: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23;damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
the second Orog moves to G:7 to flank with his comrade on Xavier. Xavier gets an AOO on the orog moving to G:7.
att: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28;damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The warpriest is significantly injured. I think you are at 14 HP.

Certainly would have been. I completely forgot to put that on Quiz's spell book too, although it would have required the use of Quick Study to swap it out, since at this level he can only have 1 level 3 spell memorised at a time. I think access to the highest level spells is a major balancing factor for Arcanists in combat.

The two great equalizers in most games: 1. failed saves. Once that happened it took two players out of the game. In hindsight, Rena probably should have vacated the stinking cloud rather than press on through it. 2. DM Controls the initial terrain. Stacking the villagers in front of the door creates an obstacle to overcome.
Hobgoblin or Orc |
RD 4: Yellow Orog
the hand to hand combat continues at the back of the boathouse, the monk
attacks with a single strike:
punishing kick, human: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 = 18;damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
to kick prone. (I wanted to kick you into the water 5 ft but the rule states you have to be able to stand unless I knock you prone.)
DC 15 fort save to avoid being prone.
HE MISSED!
-------
the other caster will use his magic missile attack on Targus.
MM: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 8
Xavier Longsaddle |
AOO on G7:Xavier chops around his side, realising his error. With his restricted vision from the cloud, he had walked into a flank.
2 hand PA, Bulls Strength, DF: 1d20 + 11 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 3 - 2 = 26
2 hand PA, DF, Destruction: 1d10 + 7 + 6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 6 + 3 + 3 = 29
Currently at 18.
Rd4: With his Divine Favor and Destruction blessing about to expire, and BADLY wounded the Priest has to use his powers just to stay alive.
He spontaneously loses his prepared SILENCE to swift Cure Moderate Wounds on himselfUsing 1 fervor. Man I am buring this quickly
Swift Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 7) + 6 + 4 = 18
he then moves back into the fog cloud hoping the hostile terrain will afford him some breathing room move to E5, unsure if this provokes as the first 5foot step puts him in concealment. his HP are 36 when any AOO's are taken.
and then using his standard action to spont cast CURE MODERATE WOUNDS again....Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 + 4 = 18

Bug will dive into the water (withdrawal action).
Though I do admit I was tempted to go out in a blaze of glory trying to drop the guy
Prudent move, if you hit him he was probably down since you do quite a bit of damage, but if you missed then you'd be down. Better to live to fight again.
That is why I didn't have him flurry you again.
Quiznab |
Quiznab is almost done with dry heaving, but he needs a few moments to shake off the after effects of the toxic fumes.

RD 4: Red Orogs
Seeing the human change into a large bears is pretty startling, but the orog attacks with his greataxe trying to hack the beast down,
att: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19;damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
The transformation is not quite complete so the attack actually hi for 18 HP of damage.

How wide is the hole Targus made? I'm hoping to get line of sight to make sense of what's going on inside, which means moving.
Xavier Longsaddle |
His divine favore expired AND Destruction blessing expired, but his health rejuvenated, Xavier uses a Standard Action to renew his Destruction Blessing and taunts the Orog's Come in and Play and we'll see how you fight one on one
