Dinetta Cillara |
As soon as the storm abates, Dinetta attempts to leap past the scum to get into a flanking position.
Move to S15.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30 <-- I will assume that beats their CMD
Landing lightly on her feat after cartwheeling past the Scum, Dinetta jabs out with her tiny rapier.

baldwin the merciful |
Not wanting to get caught in the blinding, and very abnormal considering the tropical surroundings, storm, Dinetta remains standing with her blades in hand, ready to attack as soon as a slum appears.
Delay - she will come out as soon as a scum appears, or if the sleet storm abates.
This was what you posted for RD 9. So, once the sleet ends you tumbled and attacked in RD 9. You have a RD 10 action.
Dinetta Cillara |
Round 10
Finding the scum to be more that a little susceptible to her sharp blades, Dinetta redoubles her attack to reduce the scum attacking Sorrin to one.

Not all her attacks are perfectly accurate, but one does manage to easily pierce the scums defenses.
Sorrin the Wayward |

Butterfly Sting is nice, but I'm guessing he's amphib-paste.
Sorrin focuses on the last scum standing enemy.

Dinetta Cillara |
Dinetta looks for something to clean her blade, deciding on the cloak of on of the deceased guards.
Why does everyone always want to fight. If more people would read and study, this land would be so advanced, instead it is always hitting people over the head with hammers and removing limbs with swords.
Her blades now clean, she sheathes the tiny weapons.
Suppose we should get out of here before more trouble arrives. Lets grab anything of value and then get inside.
I assume someone will cast detect magic.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 <-- searching the bodies for anything of value
baldwin the merciful |
Nothing magical glows around the skum, although their tridents are finely made (masterwork).
Sergeant Darenar: He does bare Dajobas’ Kiss on his arm, it is covered with bandages but when inspected you clearly see it is a shark bite wound.
The adamantine warhammer, Maelstrom, a +2 returning thundering adamantine
warhammer, masterwork chainmail, dagger, blue coat and dragoon uniform, purse with 25 gp
guardsman’s cloak Guardsman’s Cloak: A subtle form of pacification, this cloak has pouches of powdered lead sown into the bottomhem, allowing the wearer to grip the hem and wield it like a
sap (1d6 points of nonlethal damage).
Dragoons: Nothing magical
Gear x3 rapier, dagger, masterwork studded leather armor,
guardsman’s cloak, blue coat and Dragoon uniform, purse with 5 gp
Dragoon sorcerer some magic items, he also bares the kiss markings on his upper thigh.
Combat Gear wand of magic missiles (13 charges remaining), potion of invisibility; msw rapier, dagger, blue coat and Dragoon uniform, light blue “sorcerer’s” cape with miscellaneous spell component pouches sewn in it, purse with 20 gp
Dinetta Cillara |
Dinetta looks to the others:
Grab anything of value and lets get into the warehouse. Standing out here is not going to help us and is likely to attract unwanted attention.
As she says this, she grabs the wand and potion of invisibility, tossing the rapier to Astri.
Too big for me and I think mine is better.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna rearranges her quivers to replace the used arrows while Dinetta looks through the loot. She accepts the rapier and the wand, the gear disappearing into her haversack. "Honestly, this rapier isn't good enough for me either. The crew will appreciate it though. Everything else isn't worth my time."
The bard starts to make her way to the warehouse, digging. "We're here for Jenkie, if they even brought him. This plan has already went to shit."
Dinetta Cillara |
Dinetta looks about:
Strange. A trap I can understand, but if they intended on getting us, I would have though a more intricate plan. You all seem to have a bit of a reputation.
To make sure that there is not more here than meets the eye, Dinetta begins a quick surveillance of the warehouse.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna rubs her hand over her forehead, sighing. "Great. We killed everyone that could tell us when and where the Chosen is going to show up tonight, AND Jenkie is still getting his limbs slowly removed."
She turns to Chell, looking for some kind of guidance. "Is there any way you can Scryer Jenkie using his finger?"
Chell Silves |
As the others busy about, Chell focuses inward for a moment. She stands there, eyes closed and grasping her holy symbol, intoning a quiet prayer.
Channel: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 1, 5) = 13
She is visibly relieved to see the healing mist flow out. She was scared for a moment that, by attacking the Dragoons, they had somehow done wrong. But this was just proof that they were corrupted. Unfortunately, that wasn't as reassuring a thought as she hoped. The authority of this entire port was working with an evil god. "We are so not qualified to handle this."
Cure Light on Sorrin: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Cure Light on Sorrin: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Cure Light on Sorrin: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
30 on Sorrin and 13 to everyone else.
Chell Silves |
She turns to Chell, looking for some kind of guidance. "Is there any way you can Scryer Jenkie using his finger?"
"Yes. Tomorrow. But that isn't much help right now. And I used both spells of locating objects on the jawbone."
Sorrin the Wayward |
Thanks for the healing!
Convenience and access. Where the land meets the water, that is where sewers let out. Yes?
These skum, am I right in thinking they are were dwellers? Maybe we are close to a way in.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna clicks her tongue, nodding to Sorrin. "Very convenient. We can search the water's edge, but we should not linger here."
perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
Looking for any kind of entrance /exit in the water near the docks. If the search turns up nothing, she will suggest they return to the ship immediately
Chell Silves |
"That's a good idea but they have Captain Lester too. He's the only one that can navigate the passages. We could be down there all night trying to find them." She hated pointing out the errors in the thought. Even worse, she had no better plan to find him. Just one bad idea. "We could try Sam, but I imagine he's going to charge more than a ship for services."
baldwin the merciful |
After spending some time investigating the abandoned warehouse you find quite a bit of rubbage - areas of homelessness or gang camps - but there is no sign of any recent prisoners. There is not direct access to the sewers but back side of warehouse extends out into the water. From it's design you can tell ships and skiffs could easily pull up to load and unload their cargo.
Looking into the water below you see lots of fins - sharks roaming too close to shore - but none look like waresharks. As you see stare out the back of the building you can catch quite a bit of activity back near the main piers. For what you can observe the crowd looks to be in frenzy. You can't help but feel that you were somehow intentionally drawn away from your ship and dockside population.
It was a busy week.
Astrianna Sparacello |
"Garbage and wasted time." Astrianna comments as she finally gets bored of looking at swirling shark fins for any kind of sewer entrance.
She briefly catches the commotion on the docks, staring for a few moments before her eyes widen. "Oh no. My- er, Our ship! Out out out out we need to get back now."
baldwin the merciful |
I'll assume you all hurry off toward your ship.
As you get closer to the docks in town. Even though you are still quite a distance way, you see the frenzied crowd. The throng of onlookers push and strain to get a better view across the water. There are dragoons attempting to gain control, but this is to little avail, and an outbreak of violence looks eminent. Suddenly, a monstrous bark rips through the crowd.
"Silence!" It roars. the crowd parts, as something throws bodies aside like ragdolls in a tantrum. From the parting, a midnight blue man-shark emerges, its teeth glistening black with blood clutching draped in glistening entrails.
"I AM DALANG JALAMAR, Chosen of Dajobas, and I have come for the Jawbone of Kaho Alil'i! If ir is not surrendered to me now, my sharks shall burn your pitful kinfolk before your very eyes!" He waves towards barge well off the docks. (100 ft or so)
From where you stand you can see at least 15 captives on the barge - men, women, and children - including Jenkie and Capt Lester.
The crowd falls into horror-stricken silence. One-fisherman dares to raise his voice, "Who be havin' this jawbone!"{/b] the crowd all turn towards you. [b]"They Do! The crowd erupts in anger.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna looks at the crowd in dismay, wondering what exactly could cause this much commotion.
The bard freezes in place as the rumbling voice and massive shark-man appears, mouthing the words to herself Dalang.
As he speaks she is desperately looking for a place to move the group away- an alley, a building, a box, anything.
But it's too late.
As the crowd outs the group Astrianna feels the hair on the back of her neck stand on end, and momentarily she stares wide-eyed at the angry crowd with her hands held defensively in front of her. Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit
A beat passes and she inhales sharply through her nose, before exhaling and changing her posture. Shoulders slump, her eyes cast downward, and she swallows hard before looking back at the shark-man. "Okay, Dalang. You win." She says, projecting over the crowd in a loud, defeated voice.
She reaches into her haversack, drawing forth the replica scrimshaw and placing it across her palms in plain sight. "Call your sharks back to the docks from the barge and the Jawbone of Kaho Alil'i is yours without a fight."
Bluff: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Chell Silves |
Well that escalated quickly. Should have prepared Abeyance again.
Oh dear, is the only words that go through Chell's mind as they arrive on the scene. Many emotions vied for control like a storm-wracked ocean. None seemed to gain the upper hand. There was angry, sadness, anxiousness, fear, just to name a few. Seeing Dalang for the first time in his altered form was also a shock. She had no idea what to feel over this moment thus preventing any cohesive thought from forming. There was pity for his condition, doubt that he was ever one of Quell's, anger at her own weakness and the unfairness of his and the people's situation. All this strife over a religious quarrel.
Dinetta Cillara |
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
I can stealthily swim out to the barge. On my own though, my offense is not optimal.
Astrianna Sparacello |
perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
Astrianna mouths words to Dinetta, the whisper floating into her ears via their message.
"You'll be eaten by sharks. Wait until I distract the big one then gut him."
baldwin the merciful |
Chell Silves |
Chell pokes Astrianna and nods at the ship, whispering, "This is probably a terrible idea but we need to stop him now. Our own crew is fighting and there is more going on at the fort. If we wait until night we'll be overrun by those that haven't turned yet."
Dinetta Cillara |
Dinetta nods:
I can probably get behind him. You have that long distance communication? I will let you know when I am behind, then send Sorrin charging in from behind.
Once Message is cast, Dinetta draws her mithral dagger with her rapier in her other hand and disappears into the crowd.
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astrianna keeps herself focused forward, watching the Chosen. She speaks to them via whispers. "Chell. The moon has already risen. There are three hybrids with whale oil buckets near Jalang and three on the docks. They mean to set this place ablaze."
The bard simply whispers an affirmative to Finetta, before sending a message to Sorrin. "Dinetta is moving into position. Dalang dies first."
baldwin the merciful |
As you oak in the tumultuous situation situation you can hear the sounds of surrounding violence. The teapot is boiling over.
Jalang scoffs at Astri's words, but his bulbous eyes widen when he sees the Jawbone of Kaho Alil'i. He motions her forward.
"Bring the Jawbone of Kaho Alil'i forward and hand it to my comrade, NO FUNNY stuff, or everyone burns."
From this distance your bluff seems plausible.
baldwin the merciful |
*The docks is really crowded and the entire area is hazardous terrain from a movement POV. That being said, I did not complicate the map with excess tokens. That being stated, the crowd has separated between your position and the dock that Jalang is on.
For now, just assume your ship and the other areas around town are background noise.
**The white token is Jalang, the yellow tokens are hybrids.
Dinetta Cillara |
Dinetta moves as quickly as she can among the boxes, crates, posts, people, and anything else that will help to hide her diminutive size.
Stealth posted above (37), not sure how far she can make it with the stealth and other factors. Goal is to get behind Jalang, it is a dangerous position, but unless a third person attacks, she will need flanking to get sneak damage. Hopefully Jalang will step forward to check out the bone.
Whisper: Sorin, I can probably get behind him, but it will be precarious on the edge of the dock.
If she gets behind Jalang, and if he attempts to push her into the water, she will use her Exploitive Maneuver to use the push/attack to launch herself sideways to avoid getting knocked off. Not sure if this will work but that is her plan. Using the Exploitive Maneuver is an Immediate action.

She whispers to the others:
On the dock, have Sorrin pretend to bring the bone, and then charge on my word.
