Baldwin the Merciful's: Razor Coast (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

The Razor Coast has drawn men to madness and slaughter since the world was young. Tulita natives, born from the same fire as this jagged coast, claim the Razor existed long before the world’s other lands. It is a crucible of flame cooled by the ocean’s caress and its mountains, reefs, and lightless depths teem with as many terrors as lustrous spoils. The Razor bucks the trappings of civilization in much the same manner the storm-tossed sea spurns the men who dare mount her. This is no place for the weak-willed. Untested souls are food for its storms, its fickle gods, its ancient spirits, and the evil predations of unfathomable creatures. No less dangerous are the men who make the coast their home and whose dark desires put most horrors to shame.

Chell is coming to if just to get away for a bit.

"Permission to come aboard Captain Donovan?" Chell says sullen. If allowed, she spends her time in quiet contemplation near the front, helping only when asked.

Sorrin monkeys down from his perch, allowing another to take the spot.

Chell, welcome aboard. Would you mind offering a prayer as we set off? I feel it should become tradition.

After, we should catch up for a few minutes. Knowledge transfer, before what looks like a well deserved rest. Are you, alright? The others safe?

He rubs her shoulder gently. A little like a maiden voyage, for a new crew. Look what the Captain and Jenkie have done. I'd marry one of them, but... neither are female!

Sorrin seems high on life.

"Permission Granted, Chaplain."

You, Sorrin, and Torgue, notice he is calling you by rank or title.

Sorrin he would have called you a Mate also.

Astri is staying behind, but what is Bri going to do? She mentioned possibly looking up Belok.

When the Captain welcomed the Chaplain on board, all crew eyes would have turned to Chell and bowed their head in deference.

Yep, that was her plan. Better to look him up early before he goes out for another fight. Bri will check out the address given.

The Captain gives the order to get ready to set sail. He mentions to Sorrin, "No Bri today? We will make this run without a Navigator that's a position she is suited for. Jenkie take the helm." He looks over to Sorrin, "the men should be treated well, but beware of appearing weak, they need to respect you, and fear you at times. Assume the mantle of First Mate for this voyage...teach, correct, and reprimand."

"Mate Torgue a word." The Captain barks.

Bri finds the rundown apartment house that is on the piece of paper. There's a group loitering out front and they catcall you as you approach. You gather that he lives on the third floor from the noted. The building itself is wooden and has a light lean to left which is more pronounced on the higher floors.

"Four copp'rs fer a half hour."

Diplomacy, Gather Information, general rumors/mood of city: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 2 = 30

Time: 1d4 ⇒ 4

She spends the first four hours in the silk district, taking stock of general rumors going around the city and the mood of the populace. Astrianna spends most of her time talking to the sailors at the Native's Delight, street performers, musciains at Fiddlesticks, and the workers at Dontorian’s House of Haberdashery.

Diplomacy, Gather Information, power structure/council information: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 2 = 34

Time: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Afterwards she head to the Bawd district and stops by the Captain's Wheel for dinner. The half-elf schmoozes with various ship officers and successful businesspeoples of Shaw, attempting to learn more more about the local power structure or get more information about the Council of Elders.

I assume everyone will be back in ~6 hours, which will put the time around 8? If I can only make one gather information for the day, then it will be the first one.

"Aye womon, ye be wantin' dat vie-oh-lin tatoooo tod'y" the greeting comes from one of the artists at the Native's Delight, "Eyes hears you sawin' like a banchee da udder dai."

As usual the place is crowded with people waiting for tattoos, or just shooting the shyte drinking and smoking.

Astrianna chuckles as she is recognized sorely from her performance at the Gullet last night. "Ah, word travels fast. The Commandant and I played a lovely set last night, it's true. I plan on doing some floor-rattling fiddling tonight at the Skull if you want a listen."

She muses about the tatoo for a moment. "I'll pass on the tattoo for now, unless you can make it actually play!" She jokes, but after she thinks about it... no, that would be silly.

The half-elf starts chatting with some of the old salts, making conversation. "I heard a map to Garr Bloodbane's treasure has been found... perhaps truthfully, this time. Where was a map that sought-after hiding all this time?"

A couple of his companions chuckle a the quick-wit displayed, although the man himself seems a bit slow on the reception. Nobody bothers you as you enter the apartment and go to Belok's door. Bri thumps on the door and few moments later it cracks open, a chain protecting it from fully opening, the half-orc looks with a bit toothy grin on his face. Another chimes in, You fool. The Lodge sent Perrin on a longrange

Astrianna is highly interested in all this talk, especially the bit about all of the alchemist fire being bought up. That doesn't bode well... Someone's property will be going up in flames soon.

The sharks give her pause, as she wonders if there is any connection to the recent activity of the Dajobas cult. I should head to the Explorer's Guild and speak to Jasmine after about Dajobas and the Jawbone, I keep forgetting to do so.

She is surprised when Thalios Dondrel makes an appearance, and grins at the roguish man. Oh. Change of plans. "Ahh it's my favorite Son of Mordekai. How do you know I don't already have a few...? You might have to check." She flashes him a smile.

The half-elf turns to face him, folding one leg over the other. "I must apologize for a few days prior- I wanted to speak to you but a matter that required immediate attention came up. " She sighs and shakes her head. "Unfortunately it lead no where, but Cayden has given me a second chance for a meeting."

She is intrigued with his words, and thinks for a moment. "Sam you say? Why would he give up the map and not claim the treasure for himself? He could simply teleport there, after all." Astrianna echos the words of Xander. Sam has access to the sewers? How interesting. What all is he involved in?

Chell gently waves off Sorrin's hand. "Not now Sorrin," is all she says. She really doesn't want to have to deal with him or his ideals right not. And honestly, there wasn't much to update him on besides the loss of valuable friend and ally in the battle with the Kraken. She also got the feeling she may have made a terrible mistake by mentioning the Kraken and Chambers together. She did notice several people nearby. Then again, she was a cleric of Quell so retaliation was probably inevitable. And all of this he either knew or she didn't wish to share yet.

As Donovan addresses her as Chaplain she was pleasantly surprised to see the attention it garnered. After spending most of the night being ignored it was nice to receive a little attention. She of course offers a prayer for the voyage.

"Our Lord, Master of the Sea, Wind in our Sails and Current beneath our feet, you know all the dangers of soul and body that threaten mariners. Protect your sons and daughters who work and travel on the waters of the world, and protect also their families that await their return. Star of the Sea, Father of the Church, give light and strength to those chaplains and lay ministers who bring the love of your Divine Strength among mariners. Fill their hearts with a supernatural and life-giving zeal for the journey. Star of the Sea, light shining in the darkness, be a guide to those who sail amid the storms and dangers of life. Enlighten the hearts of ardent disciples and bring us all to the safety of haven’s port."

Captain Donovan wrote:
"Chaplain a word."

"Yes Captain?"

"Chaplain...Well spoken...inspirational, truly." the Captain nods approvingly.

Only Jenkie, who is at the wheel, is in the small chart cabin with you and the Captain. "Sailors need inspiration, the sea is scary and death lurks in the sky, on the water, and certainly within the depths below. Besides the Captain, You as Chaplain, and as Surgeon until you grow this crew, are the most important person on the deck. Do you understand why? He pauses, "You are the faith, the hope, and the healer. They will look to you for spiritual guidance and physical healing. I don't know is never an acceptable answer in front of the crew. You ALWAYS know, you ALWAYS guide or we all shall perish." He pauses. "Sailors need strength from their spiritual leader. Quell always knows.

He smiles, "Do you understand the message that I'm saying?"

Astrianna gives a satisfied sigh when everything is over with, arms propped up behind her head as she basks in the afterglow. Thalios is probably going to have some bruises tomorrow, but by the way he was screaming she knows he won't complain. Thank you for the blessing Calistra, I needed that.

She snaps her fingers to dispel the final bit of magical grease lingering in the room before leaning over to take a Tulitan cigar from her haversack. The half-elf takes the candle they had been using as a source of hot wax and lights the cigar from it, taking a long draw and blowing the smoke out of her pursed lips. She waves the smoke away from her face and coughs a little at the end due to her infrequent smoking. "Wow. These are good."

The bard leans over to offer Thalios, whose wrists are still tied to the bedpost with silk rope, a drag on the cigar. "What were you saying earlier about Sam finding Garr's map? Seems strange he would give it up."
