Baldwin the Merciful's: Razor Coast (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

The Razor Coast has drawn men to madness and slaughter since the world was young. Tulita natives, born from the same fire as this jagged coast, claim the Razor existed long before the world’s other lands. It is a crucible of flame cooled by the ocean’s caress and its mountains, reefs, and lightless depths teem with as many terrors as lustrous spoils. The Razor bucks the trappings of civilization in much the same manner the storm-tossed sea spurns the men who dare mount her. This is no place for the weak-willed. Untested souls are food for its storms, its fickle gods, its ancient spirits, and the evil predations of unfathomable creatures. No less dangerous are the men who make the coast their home and whose dark desires put most horrors to shame.

Round 13

Astrianna curses as her spell has no effect, and reaches for her blade. The bard's longsword sings as she pulls it from its sheath, and she takes the blade into two hands. She steps forward and works with Torgue to double-team the enforcer. looking startled as the huge man flies into a sudden frothing rage.

The bard notices arrows coming from a cliff not too far away. She takes a moment to glance over, and sees an elf firing down on the ship with considerable accuracy. It was no mistake the archer was only hitting the smugglers.

The half-elf calls out to the woman on the cliff in flowery elven, yelling over the din of battle towards the cliff.

Astriana's call has Cireladwen spinning. She is a hunter... sort of... and definitely a disciple of Desna. It was a little presumptuous to say she came from the stars, though, and she wasn't really tracking prey with the intention of killing it. She was more of a professional shipwright and hobbyist froliker.
But that's not to say Desna DIDN'T send her, right?
Oooh. She likes the holy savior idea more than she should. She hopes it isn't sacreligious, and returns the communication melodiously.

Elven Response to Astri:

"Neither and both, my dear! Now keep yourself safe and alive, hm?"

Round 14

Astrianna was a fool to let her guard down- the desert wanderer's ridiculous respect for life in the middle of combat was getting to her head. She was a fool to let her guard down and demand the surrender of the veteran fighter.

The bard gasps in surprise as the blade pierces her chest and out the other side, jaw quivering as her mind attempts to process exactly what happened. As the blade slides out of her body she begins to scream in pain, but instead of the expected blood-curdling yell from someone that was just run through, a deep wheeze is all that escapes from her collapsed lung.

Staggering back, the bard moves her fingers in precise and memorized arcane movements, but the draconic words fail to follow the unforgiving laws of spell-casting enunciation. Her invisibility spell fails to activate and she momentarily fears for her life. This fear is immediately belayed when Torgue crushes the man's crush into a fine mist.

She clutches the wound on her chest with her sword-hand to prevent her lifeblood from spilling on the deck, free hand ripping a viscous-looking potion from her bandolier. The half-elf downs it with intense gulping, followed by coughing as blood is expelled from her freshly healed lung.

Wiping her mouth off, she tosses the empty vial at the corpse of the dead enforcer, shattering it. She turns her emerald eyes to Torgue, and while the raging man probably can't understand at the moment- "Thank you, Torgue. I believe you just saved my life."

I asked her who sent her, and her answer was cryptic at best. But she's not killing us right now, so I'll take it." The bard points towards the beach now. "We have a lot of crossbows to deal with, and one of those damned cockatrices is flying through the air."

Evil GM

Sorrin, Chell, and Cir are up.

Captain Donovan scrambles up on deck, "Keep low. The diplomatic approach works wonders with deranged drug," he glances at an empty cage, "and exotic pet importer."

Round 14

It isn't until the bard speaks that Chell sees all the blood. On both her and Sorrin though the latter seems to be holding up better. Astrianna was partially petrified. "Oh s%~%! Astrianna!"

She climbs out the window and heads for the bard. She gives Sorrin a concerned look but he was a fighter and more used to taking hits. And again, he wasn't partially petrified. She places her hand over the wound and healing mist spreads over it and even sinks in. She directed the magic to heal the worst and thus the punctured lung re-inflates and the hole seals shuts.

Move to Astrianna and sacrifice Hold Person for Cure Moderate.

CMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 4) + 5 = 14

She looks to the Captain. "According to Sorrin, this is an assault... My attempt at diplomacy almost cost me a lung a moment ago. I'm inclined to kill all of those bastards now, diplomacy be damned."

Looking at the future assault... "I can make some illusionary cover to keep those bolts from hitting us, but we still have to get over there. I also have two invisibility spells left. Cireladwen had to strain to hear and see the cleric, but she knew that the burst of holy energy/blue light had emitted from her center.

"Don't worry so much, little light," she chimes.
But these terms are new to me. Note to self: Ask the younglings what a Chuul is.

Astriana's words have the elf calculating, though. She wants to be a force of change, to be in the thick of important things... though that just usually consisted of making sure an errant Eagle Knight vessel wouldn't sink casually into the brine.
However, elves are supposed to be cool and collected, right? Not that she's much to base an entire race off of, there is an image to construct (Just pretend to be your mother). It makes it funnier, then, when she later destroys it.

She pulls her next set of arrows out and pulls the first one taut in the bowstring.

Evil GM

Ok...guess Sorrin didn't want to spend a few moments healing up before phase two begins. Especially with Astri down 3 DEX and it takes 3 rounds to cast lesser restoration. As you stated "Into the fire." By the way the dice hate you!!

Sorrin first moves towards the aft of the ship he quickly gagues that the beach is about 20 feet away before he jumps and tries to push off using the rail of the ship. His momentum does not take him quite as far as he would like as he splashes down in 5 feet of water about half way there. Damn that rail!

Both of Cir arrows strike the human with cover just as Sorrin becomes airborne.

[ooc]A 15 roll should take you 15 feet but you had to clear an obstacle the rail which added to the DC. Plus there is a rock to the ships due to the chuul.[ooc]

I have an image of Chell asking Embrianna if she can try diplomacy while Sorrin yells Leroy Jenkins behind her.

If there's a choice between DM and Dice, DM every time. Cat's Grace... It's an assault, we move forward and push our dis-advantage! As long as they keep falling, praise the Dawnflower!

He's put his faith in a guardian angel, now don't screw up. On a good note, his lack-luster leap keeps him well within Embrianna's Hex range! This is what happens when my keynote speaker is a decorated Navy SEAL.
