The Razor Coast has drawn men to madness and slaughter since the world was young. Tulita natives, born from the same fire as this jagged coast, claim the Razor existed long before the world’s other lands. It is a crucible of flame cooled by the ocean’s caress and its mountains, reefs, and lightless depths teem with as many terrors as lustrous spoils. The Razor bucks the trappings of civilization in much the same manner the storm-tossed sea spurns the men who dare mount her. This is no place for the weak-willed. Untested souls are food for its storms, its fickle gods, its ancient spirits, and the evil predations of unfathomable creatures. No less dangerous are the men who make the coast their home and whose dark desires put most horrors to shame.

I think Hockey is rather graceful, and the power is mostly skillful. The brutality, I can do without.

Seaworthy

You gain a +2 competence bonus to all Profession (sailor) checks. In addition you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to all Acrobatics checks made to balance while onboard a seafaring vessel of any kind, and a +2 circumstance bonus to all vision–based Perception checks made at sea.

In suggesting this should apply to Reflex Checks as well in this case.

For gaming purposes every hex each square of speed is 20 feet. Your base speed is 5 so you move 100 ft. I forgot you had trimmed your sails so you would speed would have been 3 or movement of 60 ft. The designers went with simplified math and squares to eliminate the constant mathematical tracking.

A ship has 3 types tactical movement speeds:

Base - your ship has 5
Into the Wind - your ship has 2
With the Wind - your ship has 10

I'm using the numbers off of Astri's spread sheet.

If we find enough living survivors, Bri is okay with trying to circle back around to get them. I don't know if we can anchor here or not though since I don't think we know the depth of the ocean here. I also don't know if it is bad or good to drop anchor in a bad storm.

I'll binge watch Deadliest Catch for a while to see the dangers at sea.

All good points. I know sailors used to use plumbbobs (a piece of lead on a string) to gauge depth.

I've watched some Deadliest Catch and yeah- it's dangerous.

I haven't seen the show in about a year but if memory serves it will show quite a few dangers and how much work it is on rough seas. Waves crashing on deck can be quite deadly.


Don't think you'd want to drop anchor in a storm. Imagine securing yourself to the ocean floor then having a huge swell rise up around you.... insta-swamping of the ship.

Been following the happenings, while Ptahh sleeps. I'm out with the wife and friends tonight, so may not post until late or until the morning.

On Sunday, we are leaving for Mexico for a week. I'll have internet access and my ipad, but will be slower to react to posts during the daytime. Also, Sunday and next Friday are travel days so I'll be very silent then.

I'm waiting or something terrible to happen but this could be a simple case of us happening upon a ship that was destroyed in the storm.

Was thinking about it... could crew really sleep though this?

People learn to sleep in all type of conditions. They've been been in storm for half the day waves breaking on the ship isn't really unusual. I was just watching some Youtube videos of deadliest catch and the seas and crew just hanging out like it's just another day.

That's the point I was trying to make, it's hard work and every crewman has a job. When it's rough seas have the battle is not getting washed overboard.
