Cluebat!
Andrea remembers the opera and hurries to talk to Fiosa about going. We should get dressed in something nice, those dresses we bought for the Missepe party, and you can wear your new heels.
Andrea gets dressed along with Fiosa and travels with her to the opera house, hoping to get good seats so they get a good view of Orsin's performance.
Lucrezia Villanova |
At some point (in time for Orsin's last performance), Lucrezia would have gone to Andrea and Fiosa. "Andrea, Fiosa, I had a question I hoped that ya'll could answer for me. I've been thinking about catching one of Orsin's shows, but I'm not real certain what'd be ok for me to wear to an opera without embarrassing myself. Got any advice you could give me?"
Are weapons allowed at performances?
And if they also suggest that she too wear what she wore to the Missepe house, she will and just hide a few daggers on on her person.

Well we have those dresses we had at the Missepe party, I believe they would do just fine. Since we don't mingle that often, we can get by with not havign so many dresses.
Orsino 'Orsin' Bessatte |
Oh god, because you've told me to make a new check, it's going to go horribly, horribly wrong.
Given the size of the house and the splendor of a final performance, Orsin casts heroism before each of his arias, granting him a +2 bonus to the skill check.
Perform (sing): 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 2 = 25
Oh, okay, not bad at all.
Orsin's voice soars across the spacious theatre, at times as bright and pure as crystal, at others as cutting as a silvered dagger. The audience hangs on each gesture, holding their breaths with each long, sustained pitch...only to collectively sigh as the musical line transforms into a dizzying display of vocal pyrotechnics.
Belial's grand exit from Asmodeus' feast culminates in a fiery explosion coupled with a trap door built into the stage and the crowd goes wild.
Andrea1 |
Andrea has never been to an opera before and looks around her with great interest. As the performance starts, Andrea is enraptured with Orsin's performance, her hand grasping Fiosa's as she is almost moved to tears from the passion behind the bard's performance.
When Orsin vanishes in the explosion, Andrea surges to her feet with the audiance and claps wildly, a passionate cheer on her lips as she praises Orsin to the heavens.
Orsino 'Orsin' Bessatte |
After final curtain, Orsin returns to his dressing room, depositing the bundle of roses and garments on to the feinting couch.
He quickly changes clothes in case his fellows in the Brotherhood decide to pay him a visit backstage. The Belial costume is cumbersome and the make-up, though well suited for the stage, looks gaudy and effete in person.
I don't think I've ever given a show with that many people I know in the audience...I don't think I've ever known this many people. And was that Ailyn I saw sitting with Janiven and Amaya?
Andrea1 |
Andrea nods and turns to the others. Let us get a few drinks and wait in the lobby for a bit for Orsin, No doubt he will need some time to get rid of all that make-up.
Andrea will enjoy the drinks and snacks while waiting for their friend.

Orsino 'Orsin' Bessatte |
Orsin beholds the red roses with smug satisfaction. 'Belial is sooo last season'. Psh, hardly. I bet Thelsing would have killed for this role. Orsin finishes changing and gathers his flowers, he secrets the flute on his person.
When he enters the lobby, he gives out a single rose to each of his admirers.

Everyone can hold off posting actions with Orsin, he is not there yet.
Andrea and Lucrezia can make a perception check to see if they spot Arael and the others.
Orsino 'Orsin' Bessatte |
-If the Will save is successful and he is able to resist the magic, Orsin will grab for his longsword (kept on the feinting couch) and try to destroy the flute.
CMB vs. object's AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
(Keep in mind that the flute is, presumably, inanimate and thus suffers a -5 penalty to its AC from lack of Dex as well as an additional -2 to AC.)
Weapon damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7 This sum gets a +8 or a +11, if I can add my Power Attack damage.
Wood has hardness 5, and 10 hp per inch of thickness.
He also uses a free action to call for help if he can.
-If the flute allows him the use of his voice or any other kind of free action, he'll call out for help.
-If no one responds to his calls for help, he'll try reaching for his scroll of horn of pursuit and will activate it (if possible), sending out a distress call audible within a mile's radius.
-If he's totally at the flute's mercy, well, then there isn't much he can do.

Amaya, NPC |
Amaya waves over at Fiosa and the others. She has huge smile on her face. "Wasn't that the best Opera you Ever heard, his voice was So crisp and strong.
"It sounded like he reached down deep into his soul to pull off that last second G below middle C...my heart nearly stopped." she stops and takes a quick breath , "all the emotion, the power..."her face flushes.
Ermolos |
Yelling over he clanking, "Can't imagine a sound better than hammer bending steel, pure music to a man's ears." As he pours a scoop of warm water over his head to cool himself down. "Perhaps we can all bellow out a classic battle march to the beat of the hammer...now on second thought that'll make it better." With that he starts to hum out loud.

Lucrezia Villanova |
"Nice to meet you Amaya, my name's Lucrezia. I thought that the show was good, Orsin was fantastic."
Lucrezia Villanova |
"Sounds like it's not just us waiting for Orsin to make an entrance. Do ya'll think he'll be much longer?"

Finally awake
Andrea nods at Amaya's words. Orsin was absolutly breath-taking indeed. I have never been to an opera but this really makes me wonder what I have been missing, and I think I will most certanly be checking out next season.
Andrea looks around and she hears the comments about Orsin not appearing. Hmm.. Orsin is taking his time. I guess we could inquire if someone could go looking for him.
Andrea heads over to one of the staff guarding the way to the dressing rooms.
Pardon me, will Orsin Bessatte be joining us soon? We have been wondering if he has been unavoidably delayed. A number of his fans would really like to see him before they need to leave, would it be to much for someone to knock on his door?

One of the ushers would state, "Yes, it is taking him awhile, I'll go check on him." She disappears down a long side hallway.
---
About a minute later she reappears, "He seems to be dancing and playing flute. No regard for anything else...catchy tune."
She continues to say, "He may be awhile by the looks of things."
---
Some of his fans begin to mutter and leave the lobby, "Arrogant ...no regard for his fans"
"Not like he is well known anyway!" a gentleman mumbles, "Come honey lets leave."

Andrea1 |
Andrea gets a suspicous look on her face. Dancing and playing the flute? Andrea turns to the others. Ladies, I think we will need to investigate this. Amaya, would you be able to distract the usher so Lucrezia and I can slip in?
Assuming she can, Andrea casts Invisibility on herself and heads down the hall towards Orin's dressing room.
Lucrezia Villanova |
A bit confused at Orsin's reported behavior, Lucrezia will follow Andreas lead and attempt to head down the hallway to the dressing rooms if Amaya can distract the usher.
