Baldwin the Merciful's - CoT Campaign (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

This is Council of Thieves AP. Westcrown, City of Twilight, once was the center of Aroden's faith, but now it symbolizes despair. By day, the city remains a vibrant center of trade; but, by night only those with a death wish venture out.

I can't think of any questions.

Female Half Elf Urban Ranger / 7 and Wizard / 1 and Arcane Archer / 1 -- Perception: +18 in urban, +21 traps (otherwise +16) -- Init: +4 -- HP:49/59 -- AC: 23(Touch:15 / FF:19) -- F:7, R:11, W:5 +2vs enchants

I still think we need to scout around the contest area and the surrounding streets. You never know when we may need to make a quick exit and knowing the lay of the land will be helpful. Plus we may run into people we can question about the other summoner's typical spell selection and what creature he favors in battle. Even with a wide selection he is likely to have a favorite, just like how Ash would always default to Pikachu when in trouble.

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

Scouting the area makes sense. It may not help much in the actual summoning battle but it doesn't hurt to know the area.

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

He does seem to like Bloody Skeletons and Infernal creatures from what Baldwin has told us during our info searches.

Since John has no questions we can probably head back. We still need to eat and Andrea has a ring to deliver.

I do agree with Lucrezia about at least checking the area out. So lunch and scouting.

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

If there is a limit on how many supporters you can have in the cage, who would you be taking?

It's worth noting that most summons don't benefit from Inspire Courage.

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

Hmm..Depends on how big the cage is. Perhaps Andrea for buffing.

Been thinking we should throw in to help John out for his next go around at the Hellknight trial. This is what he will probably need..

+1 Silver Heavy Mace
Oils of Bless Weapon (Becomes good aligned an auto-crits) He can douse his Mace or Logn Sword with this.
Silversheen(For sword if he wants to use it)

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

Hmm... might need to squeeze.

Is Andrea prepared for that?

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

For sure..

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

I feel kind of bad for suddenly ignoring Faelyn in favor of aggressively flirting with Lucrezia. Especially after our sort-of bonding moment. =/

You still around Faelyn?

Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5

Hmm, I didn't know about the inspire courage caveat with summoned creatures. Is it because of their low Intelligence scores or something?

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

If a bardic performance has audible components, the targets must be able to hear the bard for the performance to have any effect, and such performances are language dependent. A deaf bard has a 20% change to fail when attempting to use a bardic performance with an audible component. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Deaf creatures are immune to bardic performances with audible components.

So if he summons things like animals that don't speak a language, they can't benefit.

I only learned this fairly recently when our bard in one of my other games tried to inspire my flock of summoned eagles. =(

Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5

Ah, okay. That makes total sense. Also, a bummer. I'll look into summonables that speak the same languages I do. There are bound to be some...?

EDIT: These are the following summonable creatures that I can inspire based on the languages I know and those that understand/speak said languages:

Summon monster III: Silvanshee agathion, nosoi psychopomp, dretch, lantern archon

Summon monster II: Reefclaw, hell hound, grig

If any of these choices seem good, I'm happy to IC. If not, I've still got heroism, but only two of those a day. :/

Male Half-Orc Brawler 5 | 64/64 hp + 0 nonlethal, Init +2, AC 16 (20) [touch 15, FF 13], Fort +14, Ref +13, Will +7; Perception +9;

Real celestials, like lantern archons, speak every language so that'd be a good place to start.

Unfortunately, you'll find that the creatures that are best for fighting are usually the big dumb animals (kind of like Truk).

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

Well, I don't know if we should go tracking the mercenary right now since it seems things are aiming towards everyone getting back together and getting ready for the touney. So perhaps that is the best way to go.

I must say Baldwin, you sure know how to run a tight ship. I'm enjoying checking in every so often to see the progress. Keep it up guys.

Shanasuke, aka Kenji, thanks for checking in. We are progressing in book 3 right now.

Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5

We should use some of our winnings, assuming we win, to get the Lantern Bearers up and running!

Orsin still needs to chip in his share for the project. How much again?

Off to work, short shift, but I should be active most of the evening.

Can someone cover his lunch?

Everyone is going to be pulling their coin together to wager on, or against, Faelyn in the upcoming contest.

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

Just throw in what you feel comfortable with Here is the post I made a while ago..

12 Continual Flame Torches(Two-person groups) 50gpx12=600 gp
12 Hats or Sashes to identify them as Lantern Bearers 1spx12=12sp
Scroll of Light for when something happens and you lose your torch. 12.5gpx12=150 GP
Healer's Kit for mishaps and close encounters with Shadowbeasts
(1 kit each group) 50gpx6=300 gp
Alchemist's Kindness(When you need to sober up your escortee so they don't stagger off) 1gpx12=12gp

1063 GP total for Lantern Bearer start up
50 GP from Duncan
Andrea will throw in 450 gold from her Platinum and gold and will be casting Continual Flame when able.

S0 we have 500 gp right now. Baldwun strongly suggested some magic weapons due to those Shadows. Buying oils of magic weapon might be best since 2k a weapon is quite a bit.
Holy water would also be a good idea for them to toss.

Andrea will spring for Truk's lunch. The cider is awesome.

Female Half Elf Urban Ranger / 7 and Wizard / 1 and Arcane Archer / 1 -- Perception: +18 in urban, +21 traps (otherwise +16) -- Init: +4 -- HP:49/59 -- AC: 23(Touch:15 / FF:19) -- F:7, R:11, W:5 +2vs enchants

How many arrows will one dose of oil cover?

Let me figure out what all I'll need to buy and then I'll figure out to throw in for the lantern bearers.

And cider is awesome when warm. I need to buy more at the store later on.

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

20 or 50 arrows. Remember it has a duration

[Fem Elf][Inq1/Ninja5][Init:+4][Perc:+12][33HP][AC:21(23)(Touch:14(15)(FF:17(18)][Fort+3][Ref+8][Will+4]

Well...if people tell Shadow about Sunny's sea-chest, which should still be in the grotto, there should be extra coin to go around.

Female Human Cleric/Holy Vindicator 7/6 Init +4 HP 93/93 AC 25 (touch 12 FF25) F14,R7,W18Per+19

Lucrezia will probably know about it, or Tracy. Unfortunately, Andrea would not know about it.

Evil GM

Anyone see the Hobbit yet?

Heh, it was good.

A few people complained it was overly long at points but that's just part of a good fantasy epic.

The family and I really enjoyed it. My wife thought they added too much action, but me and my boys thought it was awesome!

They added a lot from the silmarillion.

Character note that I recently thought of, Andrea doesn't have a last name since her mother didn't have one.(Insert details about giving it up, not needing one due to being a Bloodmother.)

Very interesting observation you had on the statues. I checked the notes and the Pathfinder statue was smashed but we might be able to find it if we get a drawing of said pathfinder or divine for it.
