Game Master baldwin the merciful

This is Council of Thieves AP. Westcrown, City of Twilight, once was the center of Aroden's faith, but now it symbolizes despair. By day, the city remains a vibrant center of trade; but, by night only those with a death wish venture out.

I called it, but I'm the newcomer. We are screwed. Never had a chance with the terrain and ambush in my opinion.

Called it, Duncan listens to me at least. I will channel and then we can run. Hopefully the glue and attacking elemental will delay them.

If we do lose memebers this can be the end of it, since Baldwin has said that there would be little to no continuity and having people just walking in wouldn't match with what he planned.

Sorry guys. If we all get out alive, we can strategize on my spell selection. I am built as a battlefield controller and this battle did not set up well. If I had prepared some AOE evocation spells, we would have been in a better spot.

Yeah, this encounter, assuming we get out alive, has been thoroughly humbling. -_-

Now that we've got a dedicated control/buff spellcaster in the group, I'm thinking I should pick up a few more offensive spells as well, even if only in magic item format. Faelyn and I can coordinate our selections. :)

Um...just a question....

We did get the box out, right?

Yea, but it was supposed to be just bait.

I'm worried about Andrea's sanity if we lose Fiosa.

I'm hoping to grab her for my rd 5 action and then run.

Andrea will sell everything she has and live on the street to bring her back.

Evil GM

Lucrezia I posted earlier under Fiosa RD4 she did not make her stability check.

Well, it might be her limp body I'm picking up then...

What's her weight? between 30-40 lbs?

Heading out to dinner. I give permission to Duncan to bot me.

Andrea will run with the group but will also heal everyone up with her next channel and will also help slow down pursuit if need be by dropping a Sound Burst on a group of targets. She can also use Murderous Command on common troops to have them stab each other. Feel free to rifle through my spells and such.

Wow those were terrific rolls against Sunny in RD 6. I thought you would take the hints and retreat with the others.

HP 30/ 30; Perc +3; Init +4; AC 20(21)Defensive:23

Um...I thought I had a sort of readied action to simply drop something on some one's head and then run like the clappers....

Since Sunny's had the lead in Initiative all through this scene.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Back.

Well let us run back to Grumm's or Orsin's

So what now? Reopen recruitment again?

As for future stuff, I wish to wait until the while Chelish Crux thing is opened. The Grulios have got their info at the cost of one of us and can deal with their problems themselves.

Evil GM

Nobody actually knows what happened to Sunny yet. She died in Rd 6, the other PCs had already retreated safely and regrouped with Ermolos.

Unfortunately true, she was up above all of us on the roofs. :(

Well...that could have gone better.

I apologize for letting the team down.

Evil GM

I don't recall her saying anything like - I'm going on the roof. She went looking for a wagon, if memory serves.

Evil GM

Sunny you can roll up another character.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Sunny can correct me but I believe she has mentained that we just post too fast and she can't spend as much time on the boards.

Unfortunately my Real Life schedule will be picking up in a few days and I will be unable to devote enough time in keeping up with the amount of posts for this PbP.

I appears as if fate has worked things out well. Managing one post a day for the PbP's I am in is easily taken care of. Being able to keep up with things at the rate every one plays here I fear would be untenable.

I do wish very one all the very best and hope you find victory. :)

Much cheers to you and yours.

Edit: In passing I mention a thought. In regards to a new character, I have just acquired "Paths of prestige". Would the DM be interested in a nascent 'Mammoth Lord' perhaps? (^_~)

Sunny it was great having your bubbly self in the group. The pace can get frantic, we blew through the last 1000 posts in no time.

As far as Mammoth Lord, I don't have the PoP book so probably not. I certainly would need to see the concept.

I think Sunny was just joshing about having a huge wooly mammoth stomping through the streets.

Edit: Shrug. Never occured to us/me that they were open and unlocked

Evil GM

I was bit surprised that nobody went in one of the warehouses for protection and battlefield control. Definitely a challenging encounter.

Time for a cliff hanger and calling it a night.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Well we need to get to a well-lighted street. I am guessing we will get attacked by Shadowbeasts or some assassins, so keep the eyes open and get moving.

Male Human Fighter(Tower Shield Specialist) 6/ Hellknight 2 +5 int, AC 26, Touch 12, FF 25, Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +5 HP66/82, Perception +12

What. Baldwin would never do something like attack us with shadow beast right after we have used resources fighting a battle we weren't going to win.[/sarcasm]

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Well depending on what happens,I do want to have Andrea do retraining. When we first started I was putting some points into Use Magical Device since we didn't have an arcanist or bard who was building up UMD so those points are deadweight(More PER is nice) Since Andrea is inefficant at turning undead (Channel resistance, 1 minute duration and another save every round?) I want to switch that feat out with Alignment Channel so I can damage evil outsiders(This also leads into Holy Vindicator)

A big reason I want to do this is because Andrea is the first PF character I made for play on this board and I really just didn't understand the rules and things like channel resistance. So now having read some of the guides and knowing better how things work, I would like to refit Andrea.

I'm kinda stunned that Sunny died so suddenly. :(

Otherwise, great job everyone for such a great weekend with regards to posting. Weekends have been slow in the past with this game, but this has been one of the most active couple of days that we've had in a long time!

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Well she did have lowish HP and AC. Since the fighters had around +9 on their attack I wouldn't be surpised if they were 3rd-4th or so level fighters so we were outmatched in any case.

Andrea is going to blurt something out again.

You could have prevailed in the battle. Remember who ever sent this group knew of your group's fame.

Tactically, you had fog cover with concealment and there was a warehouse next to the group to enter. Taking position inside was an option. There was a ship next to the group, you could have done the same. Either would have created a completely different battle and lessened the enemies numbers advantage. Although you were a party of 9, and the PCs are no slouches in their abilities. Plus, there was a back alley at the end of the dock that was an option for escape.

The fodder had numbers on you: 14 footsoldiers, 7 archers, plus a battlemage. However, the ground troops were only able to put 2-3 fighters at a time. They never moved down the alleys to flank the group. The second squad was ineffective with the sleet and were there for reinforcement only. They never used their numbers to optimize the scenario. The archers only hit maybe two targets in five rounds? More background noise then anything. That was basically the purpose of the fog that the battlemage cast.

The battlemage was a challenge and I think it was the first time, I've used a true spell caster against this group, but he created the battlefield mostly. Creating spooky laughter and a voice to disorient the group. There was a weak swarm he summoned for 3 rounds, of which I only attacked 2-3 of those rounds, to harass Faelyn. Yeah, he did hit the group with that fireball which hurt.

What, probably, hurt the PCs the most was the lack of communicate with one another, but that is easily remedied.

Absolutely challenging but winnable.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Fame, yea. About time we hide ourselves we have gotten to well-known. I think having less fame is good since it helps us keep undercover, I would gladly give up discounts in return for being anonymous. I think the fame has gone to our heads and all, we should be going around in those masks we had in the first book but here we are doing murderplays and being celebrities. We should get back to doing the masked resistance fighters thing.

Edit. That is something I could do with Diplomacy perhaps. Give out misinformation that the Six-Fold Survivors have taken a 'sabbatical' and left town, or at least will not be performing again or something. That can reduce the heat on us. Then we can do stuff like free halfing slaves and prisoners of the Rack like those people hauled off for violating the 'No non-Asmodaian religons' thing.
