Silver Crusade

Round 03 Summary

Hazreem, quickly activates his heat shimmer ability causing a bubble of distorted air around him that makes it more difficult to pinpoint his exact position. He then attacks the efreeti with both of his airy slams, each pounding into the warm flesh of the genie. (both slams hit, crit does confirm; total of 26 damage)

Mah’ysa defensively moves back away from the heat of the wall of fire and continues to monitor her allies, ready to step up and provide healing if needed. She can’t quite see Bahir or Hazreem very well through the wall of fire and Pae is completely out of sight. She can, however, see Efreat quite well at the moment and keeping up with the battle, Mah'ysa can see that none of her allies are significantly injured. (Mah’ysa, when you are doing this are you watching for anything in particular, or readying to move towards an ally that needs healing?)

Pae, quickly positions into a flanking position with Bahir and defers his attack to see what the Paladin may do. For his part, Bahir unleashes the fury of the spirit of Vardishal again upon the genie. The paladin easily strikes the efreeti with all three attacks, mortally wounding him in the process with a deep strike to the fiery genie’s torso that cuts him in two separate halves. (All attacks hit and crit confirms; 28+15+26+28=97 dmg) Pae simultaneously strikes the lower half of the efreeti, driving his rapier deep into its leg. His excitement quickly dissipates as he sees the top half of the genie fall to the ground and Bahir swishing the blood off the Tempest.

Efreat chants "oun'ravass!" and easily dispels the wall of fire, providing clear line of sight again of the mosque.

The efreeti (purple) engaged with Hazreem hovers back five feet and lashes out two quick strikes with his falchion. The first strike hits the air elemental causing him some pain (AC26 hits for 15 dmg, passes against heat shimmer), something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Mah’ysa.

The other efreeti (red) quickly composes himself, enlarges to a huge efreeti, and moves closer towards the curtain.

GD is blocked at work though, and so I can't verify for sure.

Round 04 Summary

Pae, not wanting to let the efreeti escape, reaches into the bag of tricks and tosses a ball of fur at the genie. A bear materializes and rushes towards the surprised efreeti to attack. The genie in turn lashes out at the charging grizzly bear with his falchion, mortally injuring it with a deep cut that also alights the bear on fire momentarily from the immense heat of its body. (confirmed crit for 40 dmg + 2 fire dmg from heat; teddy doesn’t make it) The bear staggers to the ground for a moment and then vanishes.

Mah’ysa continues to monitor her allies’ health, ready to move in and heal if needed.

While Bahir wastes no time with the next efreeti and charges towards him. The efreeti times an attack perfectly on the paladin rushing in, striking him with his falchion. (AoO hits AC32, for 20 damage - 10 from DR; 10 total) Bahir shrugs off the blow from its mighty falchion but is knocked back to the ground from the blow. (fly check 5 fails, assume you were 5’ up and so no dmg taken) The paladin hits the ground and doesn’t miss a step, delivering a severe slash with Tempest, much to the delight of the spirit of Vardishal.  (AC 37 hits for 7+6*2+6 =25 dmg)

Hazreem, maintains his heat shimmer and again slams the efreeti with both of his airy arms. (both slams hit,  total of 14 damage) The genie grunts in pain and it is obvious that he is seriously injured at this point.

Just as Hazreem’s slams hit the efreeti, Efreat fires off another blast from his wand of magic missile, letting loose 5 magical darts that strike the genie. (18 dmg)

Nearing death, the (purple) efreeti digs in and slashes out at both Bahir and then Hazreem with his imposing giant falchion. (AC31 hits Bahir, 20 - 10(dr)=10 total dmg; AC 29 hits Hazreem, fails heat shimmer miss chance) The genie just hits Bahir with his blade, and as he brings it down upon Hazreem he is momentarily confused by the visual distortion around the druid and misses.

After dispatching the grizzly bear, the other efreeti (red) gives a glance  towards Efreat and Mah’ysa. Blasted mages and their defensive spells; I can’t even tell which one is him. Bah, the maiden’s blood shall do. He charges at Mah’ysa and swings his mighty blade at the cleric. Mah’ysa is able to nimbly dodge the mighty sword though, much to his disappointment.

Total defense and Heat Shimmer paid off big time :)

Round 05 Summary

"kreash'ravass!" , Efreat shouts as he steps back and defensively casts disintegration on the genie. A green ray flies out from the sorcerer and just misses the efreeti. (Ranged touch 12 misses.)

Bahir, seeing the new threat to Mah’ysa and Efreat, turns and charges back towards that genie with a divine burst of speed. Righteous anger kindled, he critically strikes the genie with Tempest (11+1*2+7+8+5*2=38 total dmg)

Seeing Bahir charge back to protect the casters, Hazreem maintains his heat shimmer and continues attacking the efreeti in front of him. Both of the wildshaped druid’s slams hit, and the efreeti crumples to the ground from the punishing damage (both slams hit,  crit confirmed, 27 total dmg; genie is dying, but still alive)

Mah’ysa dodges, tucks, and backflips gracefully out of danger , and maintaining a defensive posture she continues to monitor her allies’ health, ready to move in and heal.

Just as Hazreem’s blows manage to bring the genie to its knees, Pae’s genie bane rapier strikes true into its chest, snuffing the last bit of life from the crazed efreeti. Within seconds, its body shrinks back to its normal size.(purple genie is dead)

These Efreeti were dressed in tattered rags and clearly something was different about them given your normal expectations of Efreet lavishness and displays of power. Upon inspection, all that each of the efreet are carrying is their large masterwork falchion.

As you have more time to scan around the room, very few things cater to your attention in this mostly empty mosque. Brass fountains spit forth burning oil on either side of the entry from the throne room. There are a number of prayer niches along the walls, and a large obsidian dais holds a shining brass altar.

Hazreem can sense a couple of magical auras from the altar. Upon closer inspection, it looks like the altar itself is magical and Hazreem also sees a small potion bottle on a shelf on the back side of the altar.

Furthermore, anyone with Craft(Alchemy) would know that the burning oil from the fountains could be bottled and used as an ingredient for a number of alchemical uses.

Mah'ysa cautiously approached the altar and cast Detect Magic, focusing on the Altar.

As Mah'ysa (and presumably Bahir) approach the altar, they both get a sense of unease around it.

The altar bears a strong evocation aura, and it also has an evil aura if checked.

DC 24 Spellcraft on Altar:

The altar bears an aura from the Unhallow spell. All affected creatures would benefit from Protection from Good while in the aura. Additionally, it appears that this Unhallow spell also will convey the Bless spell to affected creatures. It is currently keyed to Efreeti only.

The potion bears a faint transmutation aura. Hazreem swishes the clear potion around and touches a dab on his tongue. The potion tastes a little sweet and doesn't seem to harm Hazreem in any way, though the druid cannot immediately tell what it is.

Mah'ysa shook her head and backed away from the altar.
"I don't know what that is, but that altar makes me very nervous." She said quietly.

"If it is too risky to examine the altar further, then we should move on." Hazreem points to the curtain opposite the throne room. "Perhaps there is what we seek."

We should check out the Harem area.

Following suit, Bahir backs away from the altar last, "Yes, let's move on." He moves through the curtain Hazreem pointed out.

Silver Crusade

No one said anything about the potion. Is Hazreem keeping it or leaving it at the altar?

Not wanting to disturb the altar to Ymeri any further, the group makes its way back across the throne room. Despite the darnoc's threat to return, you all make your way to the other large curtain without any issues. You do take a quick moment to peek down the open the pit trap and notice a highly smoothed metallic slide headed in the same direction as the smaller curtain that you are leaving alone for now.

Arriving at the large curtain, you open it and take a quick peek. Before you stands a large circular shaped room decorated even more lavishly than the rest of the citadel. Gleaming mother of pearl insets adorn the gleaming bronze pearls floors, and the walls bear curtains and tapestries of fine threadwork and design.

A low balcony lined with cushioned divans and a luxurious bathing pool make up the center of the chamber. A large fountain and crystalline water add to the beauty of the pool.

Numerous smaller sitting rooms, and likely other passages, hide behind various fine curtains.

While beautiful, the room has a heavy smell of sulfur, and the pool looks to be quite warm judging from the steam rising from it.

Hazreem hands the potion to Mah'ysa. "This is an Eagle's Splendor potion, just perfect for you." Once at the entrance to the Harem he glances about him. "I don't like this..."

Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27

Assuming you are still at the open curtain, Hazreem sees nothing else of note beyond the room description above.

Detect Evil

The paladin pauses to scan the room for obvious evil presences.
Warily, Bahir then steps into the chamber and moves the curtain, to the immediate left, aside with Vardishal.

Silver Crusade

Bahir, Detect Evil:
The entire chamber is bathed a an lingering evil aura that extends even beyond the borders that you can see.
Apart from the general aura about, you can sense another, more focused, aura in the area of the bathing pool.

Detect evil also gives you a +4 bonus on the Perception check when passing into the room. This does not stack with the same bonus given by Detect Magic.

Detect Magic:
The entire chamber is has a lingering powerful Necromancy and Enchantment aura. You cannot pinpoint any specific source. There is also a moderate evocation aura from around the pool.

Detect Magic also gives you a +4 bonus on the Perception check when passing into the room. This does not stack with the same bonus given by Detect Evil

As soon as each you pass the threshold of the curtain and make it a few feet into the room, you notice again something ... just ... not quite right around you.

Perception DC 24, cannot take 20, occurs when moving into chamber:

You hear lively music and joyful laughter from all about the room.

Will wait for everyone to make checks before continuing.
This chamber is also has very dim lighting as you look back farther into it.

As Hazreem slowly floats into the chamber his ears perk up, "Listen...Do you hear that? We are not alone..."

Pae enters the room at Hazreem's mention of a sound. "Sounds like a party, the perfect time to sneak around and see what we can find." He steps farther in and examines the pool, without touching the water.

"There is something wrong here, but I don't hear anything." She said, frustrated.

Concentrating again, she cast Detect Magic.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
"I sense... there was some powerful Necromancy and Enchantment here; the aura from still lingers, but I cannot locate a source."
She turned her head to and fro.
"The pool." She pointed. "Be careful Pae, I feel a moderate evocation aura from around it."
