Hoping to put the demon down once and for all, Varg focuses his attacks on what he hopes is a vulnerable spot.

Using Stunning Fist and Pummeling Style

Well that bites, not sure if the Stunning Fist is wasted, or effects the second attack.


Vargrenz' second blow connects solidly with the demon, but it is able to shrug off its effects with ease. Demon #3 takes no damage, 5 points negated by DR.

Keil glances behind him and sees two more zombies, dripping in filth, stand up from the fountain already in easy reach. Zombies stand up as their action for the round.

Keil sneers in disgust as yet more creatures form out of the festering pool. Having his investigation into the pool interrupted by another zombie, Keil spits, "There's more..." Raising his swords the fetchling hacks at the forming body as it rises up landing at least one telling blow into its neck among other places.

Brok's blow fails to get past the demon's defenses, while Keil's main attack savages the zombie but does not destroy it. Zombie #4 takes 9 points of damage. The zombie is not Flat-Footed and does not provoke an AoO because the fountain provided Cover for it.

Malzii and Grezzor move closer to the action, leaving the orc hirelings to watch their backs. Grezzor sends a ray of sheer cold at the zombie next to Raaz.

I think I confused what was a demon and what was a zombie. My bad.

With the zombies too strong to control and the demon engaged with Shade, Grey felt they had the battle well in hand. He readied to put any demon that entered his range to sleep.

Readied action, Slumber Hex on the closest demon to get within 30 feet of my position.

Figuring that the demons are a greater menace than the zombies. Varg double moves to get closer to the Abyssal annoyance.


As Vargrenz and Praetor hurry to deal with the last demon, the zombies mindlessly swing at their targets...

While Raaz has no difficulty evading the clumsy blow, Keil finds his opponent far more formidable and only his eerie shadow defense saving him at the last moment.

Brok drops his sword and unslings his crossbow from his back.

"Magic sword no good .... shoot not-deads with sticka-bow!" he cries to no one in particular.

He levels it at the zombie on Keil and lets fly a bolt.

Tipping his hat to Brok and Arlok, Keil says a quick prayer to Hel in thanks for her blessings. The way the shadowy man sees it, having already received her diseased kiss, the goddess must surely be assisting him so that he might long endure her graces. He'll have to remember to pay tributes at her temple when he gets back.
Following Vargrenz towards the remaining demon, Keil's yellow eyes scan the northern section of the room for any signs of more creatures appearing.

The demon still battling the undead servant sees the approach of the fetchling and the duergar. Giving you an evil look, it disappeards from your sight as it teleports away!

Keil glances to the north part of the statue but does not see anything else hiding behind it. His ears to pick up the sound of a faint chittering and squeaking as it approaches from the eastern passage...and it is growing louder...

"Swarm? Meh...Malzii needs to ready more fire next time rest then," the kobold scowls as she falls back a pace or two into the western passage. "Grezzor usually have fire right? Here, Malzii give you hand," she adds as she places a hand on the wizard's shoulder.

Keil shares Vargrenz' sentiment. With his usual look of disgust etched upon his face, the fetchling regroups.


As the rest of you regroup at the entrance to the Fountain room, Shade follows the command of its master and flies to the passageway to the east. As you watch in fascination you see over the fountain of pestilence and the undead shadow a group of giant rats, about a score of them, climbing along the walls and floor towards you...

...and as they approach the chamber Shade swipes at one of the rats, which squeals in pain and terror. For a moment it seems as if the rats are willing to brave the undead terror but almost as one they turn and flee back from whence they came!

Shade, its face filled with a fury, turns and flies off after the rat group, leaving the fountain room quiet once again.

Round 8: Everyone may act now. Keep in mind we are still in Combat rounds.

"Has anyone searched the poo fountain room?" he asks the fetchling.


Yes, Keil did get a chance to search the north part of the room. I have reposted what he found here:

A huge alcove in the northern part of the room contains a ten-foot-tall statue of a benevolent-looking figure wearing white-painted robes. However, the statue is splashed with blood and filth, and a grisly necklace made of human hands has been draped around the statue’s neck like some sort of psychopathic offering. All of these are left hands.

You suddenly realize all of the plague zombies you have fought were missing their left hand! Of course that did not make any of their blows less hard...

"Malzii, those hands remain untouched by the goddess's blessing. The bodies of the owners however... " Keil half shrugs and sneers in disgust to imply the obvious; the zombies down here have all been infected by the usual rot and decay that befalls most undead.

Holding his nose at the revolting stench, Brok looks over the statue for traps before anyone tries destroying anything.

Brok looks over the statue closely, determining there do not appear to be any mechanical triggers tied to it...nor of the grisly hand-necklace which the goblin can see is easily removed from its perch.

As the rest of you retreat back to the edge of the Fountain room, you also see more movement from inside the Fountain...As you watch closer several large, grotesque centipedes crawl out of the fountain and move to attack!

"Fountains and statues always bad in this place!" Brok exclaims as he shoots a centipede with his crossbow.

He curses under his breath as he barely clips one and reloads.


Brok and Kiel manage to wound two of the centipedes, while Arlok slices another one completely in half! Centipede #1 takes 3 points of damage, Centipede #2 takes 1 point of damage, and Centipede #5 takes 11 points of damage and is Dead. The Centipede does not get an AoO against Keil because of his Shadow Blending.

Malzii ducks past Praetor and stops just at the entrance to the room once more. "Vargrenz take power of ancestors, squish centipedes well!" she calls out.

Feeling the power of Malzii's ancestors in his fists, Varg steps forward and attempts to pummel one of the centipedes back into the goo from which they originated.

Malzii sends her ancestor's blessings into Vargrenz, who takes advantage of it and pummels another centipede into the ground. Centipede #2 takes 5 points of damage and is Dead.

Grezzor moves forward and sends a freezing ray of cold at the wounded centipede...

With another swipe of his elongated blade Arlok slices the final centipede in half.

Round 9: Everyone besides Arlok is up. There are no visible enemies but we are still in Combat Rounds.

"Malzii try water first, before actually touch statue," the kobold offers as she trundles into the room with some of the others.

Malzii will move into the room but do nothing else for the moment in case someone else has an idea; once she gets a little closer she'll try using Create Water to clean the statue up a bit.

While Malzii gets ready to through some water at the statue Keil spits out a curse at the sight of yet more vermin emerging. Placing his swords down the fetchling strides across the putrid stream as he unshoulders his long bow. Nocking an arrow onto the bow string, Keil takes aim and looses the missile towards one of the centipedes forming near the kobold shaman.
Long Bow attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 (-4 if into melee=17)
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

I think the line of sight avoids firing into melee but I think a 17 hits anyways | FA drop weapon, MA Retrieve weapon, SA Bow attack
