Arlok looks to the rats then to his belly then to Grey, back to the rats then his belly and back to Grey and sulks. As he leaves them and steps over the demon and takes it's head.

Arlok swiftly decapitates the demon with his glaive, and it soon bubbles away into a puddle of black goo. Leaving the remains behind Keil and Brok check out the doors. While the east door is silent beyond, the south door reveals a shuffling noise, made by something large, on the other side.

The shadowy man nods in agreement with the goblin. Keil signals for the others to gather around outside the door. Then, drawing his sword, Keil steps to the side and readies himself, Whatever comes out of the door is in for a surprise. Once the others have gathered, he gently opens the door. "Time to play..."

As the fetchling opens the door, the source of the rustling becomes immediately apparent: A giant diseased rat that is almost ten feet long, stirring in its nest. It only has a few patches of fur sticking out from its pale hide, which is covered with oozing boils. Its eyes are bright red, and glitter with intelligence. It turns those eyes upon you with a hungry look, almost famished...but it is clear it is caught off guard...

Keil never claimed to be a skillful tactician and the goblin's magic leaves the fetchling's fingers twitching to get in on the action. Pushing the voices out of his head warning him to wait, Keil advances into the room tugging on his second sword as he goes. He soon sets to work, the shadowy man's two swords flash, cutting into the rat's flesh with fervor.

Grezzor freezes another piece of the rat's diseased fur, while Keil shows devastating accuracy with his blades. Brok's shot whizzes past the rat's head. The Giant Rat takes a total of 23 plus 1d6 ⇒ 3 hp (for Keil's crit) for a total of 26 points.

The giant diseased rat, while bleeding profusely from its many wounds, is not without life. Staggering to its paws, it gives the fetchling an evil glare before suddenly vomiting up a vile mass of disgusting fluid from its bowels. Keil and Vargrenz are coated in the vile substance and both need to give me a Fort save.

Will save, Slumber Hex DC 19: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 fail.

As the rest of you prepare to finish off the vile disgusting creature, Praetor sends the rat slumping to the floor unconsciousness.

"Anyone with that creature's blood on them, clean yourselves thoroughly. Soap and water."

Grey pulls a large chunk of soap from his healer's kit and gives the whole group a steady look, as if daring someone to protest.

Covered head to foot, the fetchling begins to gag with that kind of choking cough one usually gets after having tried to swallow some liquid and breath at the same time. After a few of these, Keil spits up some of the vomit, then slowly turns towards the grey witch. The shadowy man looks as though someone had just told him he'd just lost everything on a bad roll, "A bath?" Keil chuckles at the thought of it and starts wiping as much of the putrid vomit off of himself as he can, "I've been covered in worse."

There is no clean water in this place, neither of us will be taking a bath anytime soon.

Keil looks up(down) at Brok's suggestion with a wicked grin. Apparently he will not have to be asked twice. Spitting the last of the rat's vomit from his mouth, the fetchling takes up one of his swords with a fiery zeal in his eyes and begins hacking the rat's underbelly to pieces. Streams of blood and gore soon paint the walls and floor of the room until the creature's stomach and intestine spill out with a slop. Another quick slice and the contents are added to an already soupy mess upon the floor.

Keil evisceration of the diseased rat's innards proves fruitless. As he works on the rat corpse, he feels a spasm pass through his body...

Keil spasms once again and as he looks at his arm, he sees the dark-purple striations on his arm, a tell-tale sign of the same disease that has infected Raaz.

As the cleric looks over the tiefling's arm, he smiles grimly. "Welcome to the...Brotherhood. We are now both infected." Keil loses 1 hp, and is currently at 19 hp .

Turning his attention back to Praetor he shakes his head. "I did not prepare that spell, though our shaman did say she has." Pointing at Malzii. "I am far more interested in finding a way to cure this disease. Akkus says there is a means to cure the disease here. We just need to find it."

The repugnant look creeping over Keil's face shows his contempt for his predicament. Having already suffered crippling pain, the slow death offered by this latest test on his body seems not to slow him much. Keil flatly acknowledges Raaz's observation, "So it seems," then stows his sword. The fetchling's yellow eyes examine the room one last time for anything he may have missed, then makes for the next door.
"Infection is no longer a risk for me, I shall lead. Double your efforts my friend, we may all succumb soon."

Grey nodded grimly. "Fine. The rest of you, wash."

He produced a skull-etched wooden basin from his pack, dropped a chunk of soap in it and waited for Malzi to fill it.

"One at a time. When you are done, dump the water for Malzii to refill. Do not use each other's dirty water. Make sure any blood or other fluids are well cleaned."


While the others take part in cleaning yourselves off, Keil shrugs off the offers and moves out of the rat lair and checks out the east door in the previous room you explored. Seeing the door unlocked and untrapped he opens the door and sees this room (#20) apparently was a bedroom at one point. It contains a rotted bedframe, a nightstand, and a wooden chest under the bedframe. The chest has already been broken open, and is empty. There are three pictures on the nightstand, each of which is a charcoal sketch of a different woman’s face.

Grezzor follows Keil as the others wash. Once they arrive to the old bedroom, he summons his arcane powers to allow him to detect magical auras.

"Put your superstitions behind you Brok. It is not your soul up there. Continue your search." Keil enters the room and begins his search including the bottom of chest (False bottom?) and behind the pictures (Hidden safes?), Dead end? This level has an odd layout... Keil takes his time doing a thorough job. He does not trust his eyes alone (or his dice, having bad luck. Grezzor finds no magical auras in the room, and Keil's search proves fruitless...almost. While the fetchling misses the hidden door in the north wall, Brok is able to find the hidden latch and a small secret room is revealed.

Several interesting items are laid out neatly in this room: (1) an earthenware jar containing five golden rings each with the inscription "To my one and only,” Worth 50 gp each, (2) a silver-headed light mace worth 100 gp, (3) a leather bag containing 500 gp, (4) an earring with an obsidian sphere dangling from it, inscribed with the words “Rappan Athuk,” (5) three scrolls tied together with a red piece of silk (Conjuration aura) tied together with a parchment note that reads, “Jossel, if you plan on continuing your activities with the young ladies of the various villages where you are assigned, the High Priest suggests that you might need these.”

"Ooh! Papers have spells to cure disease written on them," Malzii exclaims as she too peers at the scrolls. "Good thing for us some dumb human was even dumber than usual, ehehe."


Raaz hurries up to see the find Malzii pointed out. "Yes, by the glory of Baalzebul! We are saved!" As he is about to take one of the scrolls for his own, he pauses for a moment before reluctantly putting the scroll back in the case. "Akkus raises a good point here. There is no use in wasting these scrolls while we are surrounded by this disease. Wiser to save them until we are free of this place...free of this pestilence!"


No sooner has the party finished washing off the disgusting vomit stains from their bodies, then Praetor's pet shadow Shade returns to the group. Flying over next to his master it intones in a voice devoid of emotion, "Many room off path to south, many doors. Path go down south then go east, saw couple of rooms. One room had unliving body. Saw many bugs on floor, they ran away from me. One room had stairs going up. Then path dead end. Could not get close to it. Had picture of hand on it. That all I see."

Keil nods in agreement to Raaz' wisdom, "We need to leave this place." He strides past those gathering around the scrolls, retracing the group's steps as these rooms have turned out to be a dead end.
The shadowy man pauses to listen to what shade has to say then spits. "Stairs going up, eh? Down is better." Keil looks over his shoulder to pose a question to the others, "Cleansing the rooms shouldn't be difficult, but would those stairs be worth checking?"

Glancing up at Grey Keil asks, "North or south?" The fetchling is only half interested in the witch's response. Either direction makes little difference to him but what is starting to play on Keil's mind is the group's accumulation of treasure. The shadowy man casts a look over to Arlok and the growing bag of loot. Finding it is thrilling. Keeping it is nice. Escaping with your life and treasure in tact, that's the trick. What good is treasure if you aren't around to use it?

I believe Shade went south. As the stairs leading up are in that direction, we may want to clear the doors to the north first.
