Chronicle Sheets GM Busy At Work........

Suny's experience in climbing the ropes stands her in good stead as she swiftly discovers which ropes are frayed, which are newly repaired and most importantly which are the common ones to aid in ascending.

Jerieth's attempt at flirting earns her naught but catcalls from the surrounding crews though once they realised to whom she's calling out too, their faces hovers between disgust and surprised.
Unfortunately for Jerieth, the object of her admiration flicks her red hair and outrightly dismisses her.

Jerieth Perception DC 10:

Jerieth notices that the red head is also wearing a sliver necklace with a holy symbol attached to it in ivory.

Stoma makes a fantastic good showing as he puts a leg up and then misteps, putting an entire leg through the ropes. This mishap caused him to slam his face against the deck and rather painfully at that.

Redo doesn't fair as well having made his way simply past Stoma when he too loses his grip and falls. Fortune favors him though as his foot catchs onto a rope lashing keeping him from an early end to his sailing career. His current position though draws him a majority of jeers and hoots of laughter.

One shouts out amidst laughter,
"Oh Look! He sure has a way to just Hang Around"
"Eeh's got a Knotty Problem Ah See!" another hollers
"Dont cha worry sweet cheeks! You''' get the Hang of it!" this one voice breaks halfway between guffaws and scorn.

The clincher seems to be between Sawib and Drake both of whom shimmys up the ropes easily though it is Drak who pulls forward in an amazing display of dexterity. It is clear who is assigned to Crow's nest duties.

Once that is settled, the rest helping themselves down, Mr Plugg steps forward and the crew quietens.

"Nicely Done..............for a land lubber, I suppose." Mr Plugg smiles, not a friendly sort of smile as he drops his seamen's accent and speaks clearly without a hint of the sea.
Clapping Drake on his back, Mr Plugg suddenly slams a fist right into his midriff, knocking off all the air from him causing Drake to see stars for a brief moment as his vision tethers.
"Strong too." he laughs and the crew laughs as well as he releases a gasping Drake and strides off.

Mr Plugg then dismisses the everyone back to the cabins with instructions to find a place for yourself and then come back up in 5 minutes for the education section about the rules of the ship.

Still panting a bit from her scamper up into the rigging she blinks, obviousness nonplussed, at Mr Pluggs actions in regarding Drake. Moving to hep her fellow crew mate recover.

With the order to set them selves up in the crew quarters Sunny skips down and sorts out her hammock placement and such.

With but a few minutes she doesn't really have time to get to know any of her new friends before she scampers back up on deck for Mr Plugg's lessons and education.

The big man just watches the actions of Plugg, trying to remain calm as he sees the officer brutally test his fellow...prisoner? Sawib nods to the other captives as he heads to the cabins, stripping his shirt off and revealing a wide series of scars that show definite service in the sea faring arts. Twisting the linen shirt, he wrings the sweat from it, a slow stream of liquid drizzling to the wood. Shaking it out, he slips the bellowy cloth over broad shoulders.

"The rigging here seems poorly maintained.." he remarks to the rest.

Jerieth is shocked. She doesn't understand how she didn't get the rigging job. Surely she was the better climber! She was greatly infuriated, not at Drake, but at Mr. Plugg.

She stayed quiet, still red in the face at the unfairness of the situation.

Good job Drake! Still puzzled at how I lost though. Was I supposed to do all the checks at once? I was under the impression we did them separately. I then went ahead and posted several of them thinking that I needed to hurry up but again I probably messed up something. Story of my life. I guess it was a tie between me and Drake but oh well. My fault that I didn't win.

Strange. I assumed I was in the lead as I didn't get below 10 whenever I rolled. Not to mention I also did mixed it up with both accelerated and normal climbing rates. So that probably threw me off too. I was the under the impression that was okay. Although now that I'm looking at his post again, I don't see any mention of my character's climb. Odd.


Not wanting to 'Second' the DM... but... Mr Plugg is a right b@stard and hence more than likely to not put the best climber up in the crows-nest... :P

Redo, happy to be saved from plunging to the deck, merely grins at his misfortune, waving to the sailors below as the catcalls begin.

I am not cut out for the rigging anyways. Now to see if they have a library...or an archive somewhere on this boat. he laughs at the thought, and despite a strained leg, is still laughing inwardly at his misfortune as he hauls himself upright (with some assistance) and gingerly climbs down.

The sudden violence erases the levity however, and Redo heads below, looking for a place to stake out for himself. He looks speculatively at his fellow captives as he heads below. I wonder if any of these people will be good to work together with...or if they are only out to protect their own hides...time will tell.

A Slimy Looking Sailor approaches Jerieth before she heads back down.
"Mr Plugg will like to see ya." he leers at her.

"In his private Quarters."

Jake Magpie is chained up to the Mast and a couple of sailors are undoing the rigging and replacing it with a far more superior one driing home the point that this was all a test. It looks like it's goign to take some time to finish and till then, everyone could do with some rest.

Finding his way to the crew's quarters, Stoma finds some of the best places to rest in the cramped space but finds himself blocked by several other sailors.
Red haired and crooked teeth, this pirate is lean and judging by his scars on his chest, either skilled or very lucky to have avoided death.
"We got space for you down o'er there. Here is for the best of the best o this best crew. You swabbies can take that sapce."
He points towards the smelliest and most damp corners out, steps back towards his twin hobgoblin like flunkies and grins.

Stoma also notices in the rafters, another pirate. This one is dressed in flowing robes in the style of the Vudrani and doesn't seemed interested in helping anyone else.

Sawib just chuckles, looking at the crossed arms of the sailors. Bravado, whether false or not, was something he never really approved of or saw a need for. Men like that tried to set their position by a lot of talk and not a lot of experience.

He leans against one of the walls, watching how his fellows deal with this...development.

"Come sit beside me dearie. I find myself interested in knowing more about you........perhaps explore your current position. I could offer you something higher......while we still have some time." he purrs.........the way an alpha predator eyes its prey.

Suny's attempt of striking a conversation with her new crewmates fails terribly as they either snicker at her with comments of "You'll see" or outright ignore the 'swabbie'. Only one deigns to answer her.

Upon hearing Sawib comment on the other man's dagger, she glanced at it trying to seeing if it was magical while also trying to think of some old sailor stories that might prove useful, although she was more concerned about what was going on.

"Now now. There's no reason to fight or start something we all are going to regret. We need to work together if we are going to keep from getting lashes. Or worse. We need to look out for one another as no one else is, and I doubt Mr. Plugg will be doing it. So let's put this behind us and start working together, because the moment we start trying to strangle each other that's the moment things fall apart, including the ship we are all on, mates," the undine said diplomatically to the other sailors hoping to influence them and start being friends.

Sawib's casual remark brings down the tough's expression a notch and though it is unclear what else could have happened if not for............

Jerieth's abrupt entrance with her flushed face breaks the tension as the woman rattles of words of endearment deflating the pirates even further seeing that thet cannot bully the new swabbies so easily...........

Jierieth on the other hand unaware of what had just transpired notices a few things.
The dagger looks sharp, not magically so.
She doesn't see the red head.
Neither does she see a lithe Vudrani Man tanned by years at sea, touch down lightly just beside her interrupting any further possible actions and startling her.

"It is time to head topside. Come." the last spoken not like an order but it resonates with it.

Sawib notices something about the Man's movement. It is smooth and flowing almost like a river itself but his stance speaks of hardness of steel beneath his facade.

Mentally breathing a sigh of relief, she is suddenly startled by the tanned Vudrani man appearing next to her.

Damn! I'm going to have a heart attack if this keeps up! I also better let someone know about Plugg and his desires for me.

After recovering, again, she walked next to Sawib, and whispers what had transpired between Plugg and her.

"Apparently he is lusting after me so if possible could you and the others keep an eye out for me please? I can handle myself but it doesn't hurt to have friends to keep you safe."

She was no stranger to the duties aboard a ship but still she had usually been a rigger but at least now she knew why Plugg had overlooked her climb and given the job to someone else, which made the whole matter unfair and just downright plain wrong.

And no I'm not mad at you GM! Very clever idea too btw.

Sawib nods to the Vudrani, observing his stance as they all head back up toward deck.

"What school?" the fellow practitioner asks in casual observation, as he knots the sleeves of his shirt from elbow length up to shoulder height.

Could there be another one of the Masters' pupils on board?

This one didn't look familiar, but Sawib had graduated from the tutelage decades ago.

As the woman speaks, he turns to her and nods.

"Many of us will draw attention, I fear. It is the way of new recruits. We will either endure and survive, or we will break and be devoured."

She shuddered as the fact that this was once again a ship captained by a man who would have been stripped of his position of captain and tossed into jail if he was a member of the Andoren Navy was once again confirmed.

Oh this isn't going to be good. Besmara, Calistria, and Desna watch over this man and his soul. Guide him to his eternal rest, and when the time is right, grant me the strength and power to avenge his death.

Jerieth lend over and congratulated Drak telling him, "Congratulations mate on getting the rigging job. Although I should have gotten it, but Plugg wanted to...well he was lusting after me which is why he overlooked my climb. Nothing against you. You did excellently well in the climb as well."

Day 1 - It begins.....with an object lesson

All of the crew is called to deck at dusk to witness an 'Event'. Finishing your work whatever that is, all of you are hauled or 'invited' to view this.

Apparently entertainment is meant tonight. A man is brought up with his hands bound behind his back. This is Jakes Magpie, a pirate caught stealing from the quartermaster, his confession obtained by a rather severe interrogation at the hands of Mr. Plugg and Master Scourge, involving knives, hooks and ropes. This unfortunate you have had the pleasure of meeting.

His confession seems to silence the crowd and he is sentenced to keelhauling. Any confusion about his punishment is dispelled as all of you watch as the man is tied up and slowly, so agonisingly slowly brought below ship as Mr Plugg pulls on the rope to bring the unfortunate man down to his doom, his screams mercifully cut short abrupty as he goes in.
What comes up isn't pretty though and the mangled carcass is soon thrown over board to feed the sharks.

The lesson is clear. Don't steal and get caught. Every mistake will cost one his/her life.

Mr Plugg turns around and seems to direct it to everyone though he looks mostly at all of you.

"Arr you swabs, get ye going or feel some stinging. Lesson is over mateys and I hope arrrrr.....you get the drift or ye be drifting, ye mangy dogs."

Perception 15:

Mr Plugg was enjoying himself as he tugged the rope and he seems an old hand at this. Maybe too old an hand at this.

Being the unfortunate ones to be disposing of the body, you find estimate that the unfortunate Jakes took about 24 points of damage from the punishment and drowned as well.

The actions of the officers doesn't seem to phase Sunny, though her demeanor shows more consternation than anything else. The order of getting to work does seem to cheer the Elf lass up some.

She glances towards Mr Plugg and those he's grouped with.

"Now.. d'ye s'pose that includes tha' officers? They answer ta' Captain, like us, right? So... they can't be killin' no one.. lest they get kil't 'em selfs..." She shakes her blond mop.

"Argh! Makein' people's sense does me nut in some times." (>_<)

"Aye mateys. This be no way to run a ship. A captain looks after his crew and they look after her. Of course that's how I would run a ship when I become captain. Captain Jerieth has a nice ring to it. Anyhow, Stoma and Redo you two would make fine officers if I was in charge. The same goes for you too Sunny and Sawbi, and Drak too. Still we have to survive serving aboard this accursed ship. And so let's do that." She made sure to say all of this low enough so only her fellow new recruits could hear her. She continues to scrub the deck.

"Oh, I weren't talkin' about tha' world. Jus' about tha' way tha' Captain as-plained about things done here." She looks to Plugg and those gathered around him.

"What ye be sayin' I can un'erstand. I jus'.... Tha' whole 'Lets take people... but not care if'n we bust 'em, or break 'em..'. It don't make no real sense ta' me. Ye gon'a run out'a peoples if'n ye keep doin' things like that." She ponders things some more.

Cursing in Aquan, Jerieth began to worry. She looked at the man and nodded, smiling. She wonders what his story was. Maybe this evening she could ask him not to mention continue her wooing of the redheaded woman...

The undine then asked, "Did y'all mates know that we undines are able to drink sea water. Everyone else can't. I guess it's because I have triton and marid in my blood. Always loved the sea. My dad was an undine pirate named Brek the Golden Serpent, as that was the name of his ship. He rescued my mom when she was a slave to a genie binder from Qadira who was having her whipped to death for spilling wine onto his new fancy clothes. They fell in love and when he left Absalom, he promised to return to her. But he was captured and tortured to death by Chelish and Qadiran bounty hunters. He made a lot of enemies, but he made lot of friends, here in the Shackles, Riddleport, and especially in Andoran. It was because of him I was able to find work in Andoran."

She continued to scrubbing the deck as she wet further into her story, "I came to Port Peril to see if I could learn more about my dad and to find my destiny here as well. So what were the rest of you doing in Port Peril before you were press ganged?"

Nodding at Sunny and smiling a bit, the undine replied, with a chuckle and giggle, "Well you got your wish in a manner of speaking. Stick with me mate and we will go places. I've been to Andoran, Taldor, Varisia, and even to Thuvia. Geniekin like me are well liked in Thuvia. But I've always like traveling. It's like my dad said in his journal, the journey is what counts although the rewards at the end are just as good but they become sweeter when you consider all the rewards you gain along the way."

She then turns and looks at Sawib and asks, "School? I'm going to take a wild guess here but do you mean school of fighting?"

Jerieth was curious about her Garundi friend.
