"For countless lifetimes now, the Fallen Fortress has stood. Fallen from it's ancient purpose as a guard tower in the Cairnlands. It was magically sealed long ago at the climax of the Binding Light Cataclysm, when it's master, that last standing hero of that battle sacrificed themselves to close seal the tower.
. . . My contacts tell me that the earthquake last week may have opened a path into that tower, and I need you to go and investigate this. Please hurry. I'm certain that many would want to claim the secrets of the Fallen Fortress for themselves."
With little time for more provisions or planning, you set off to the Cairnlands with some basic directions, though the Fallen Fortress itself is mostly common knowledge amongst the residents of Absalom City. Or it was. Even though the inside of the Fallen Fortress has been unaccessable, it became a place that youths would often sneak away to, either for dangerous romantic trysts or to dare others to approach the haunted castle.
Travel is swift and uneventful. The ruined siege castle now being called the Fallen Fortress rises out of the churned earth of the Cairnlands. No doors or windows mar the otherwise smooth expanse of the tower’s walls. The tower is quatrefoil in plan; its eastern wing has largely collapsed, exposing the interior floors to the open air. Only the topmost level seems whole, though its eastern portion hangs precariously over the mountain of rubble left by the collapse. At ground level, the rubble frames a gaping hole in the side of the building that provides access to the tower’s darkened interior.

The Lightning Agent looks at the decrepit collapsed tower. This would make the perfect base for my new operations.
He readjusts his cowl over his face so as no one will know who he is tightening the cord at the top of his head so when he rolls about his cowl will stay in place.
He begins to head towards the tower with the rest of his sidekicks

Union pulls his cloak tight around his scalemail to block the wind.
This place looks just as much an eyesore as the corporate merchants who take advantage of the populace. I'll be glad to clean it out and make it safe for those who may need it as a refuge from the darkness that has enveloped our once fair city.
He slowly draws People's Justice, and rests its massive blade on his shoulder as he walks.

"Tsk. That's if the place isn't overrun with monstrosities." O, sighing as he drew out his shortbow. "I don't think everyone is on board with what may be going on. Either way, something like this becoming open to the general public may spell disaster..." thought the man.

The masked marauder known only as the Red Rook wanders into the area. "Reed Rogers tipped me off that you heroes might need some help." Strangely, Reed Rogers is nowhere to be seen and must have wandered back to Absalom.
Red pulls a greataxe from it sheath. "Shall we see what's inside?"

Avengers Tower, here we come!
Union leads the way, walking dramatically toward the tower, ready to swing his mighty blade of justice at the first sign of evil doers.

Updated Lightning Agent now that Herolab came out with the update. Only goofed up missing 1 skill point and I was treating spells similar to a wizard with prepared spells instead of like a sorcerer and having so many a day.

The Wasp moves so silently, no one knows he is there.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Well, some know he's there. But not those hard of hearing!

As the one they call the Wasp begins to inch forward, weary of possible danger, suddenly there is a loud growling sound from the darkness at the base of the tower. It seems that it is a bit more open, and inhabited, than you thought, and suddenly three hungry dogs peek out, still growling.
They eye you with hungry eyes, and you can tell as they come out into the light that all three are nearly starved, and likely driven crazy by their hunger, with little option but to attack you for food.

One of the dogs reacts first, rushing at Orlesk with a savage bite. It manages to catch hold of his thigh, but barely makes it through his clothing and armor.

The Lightning Agent draws his shortbow and readies and arrow for the oncoming dogs.I assume you will take care of that evil canine.
Once one of the dogs gets within 30 feet he will fire.

Please move Union to the square directly beneath dog #1, please. Thanks!
Union dashes forward, using his momentum to swing People's Justice in a sweeping vertical arc. If the blade weren't so sharp, it would appear that he was trying to bash the animal up into the very sky.

Hello all. I had another friend that's deployed ask me to join to be able to play a vigilante, so I'm just waiting a little on him. We will not make the July 20th cut off, but should easily make the August one.

![]() |

The July 20th cut off is the only one that gives us two lines on the chronicle sheet. After that there is no way possible to get enough lines to make the sheet worthwhile.

![]() |

I know. My original plan was to try to rush through this for that, but it's honestly just not going to happen. We started a bit later than I anticipated, which is fine. :)

I am here.
Vic will spend his first turn moving up into the fighting area as he is not quite to the fight yet lol
Got some questions. How does your Falchion have Reach? What sort of Vigilante are you? I'm pretty sure your dual alignments are incompatible, (something I hate, the restriction is stupid). They must be within one step of each other. Also, which one is your current alignment?
Also, I still need The Wasp's and Vic's info in the Discussion thread please.

Round 2 of the playtest allows your dual alignment to be one step away on either axis now. So his alignment is legal.

Not far behind you, you spot another of you team showing up last minute. He must have spoken with the Seeker not long after you left and been trying to catch up ever since, arriving just in time.
Vic Sage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
???: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The Silver Warden steps over to strike at the dog, bringing down his Morningstar hard, but just misses, slamming it's head into the sandy dirt and spraying it about in a small cloud of dust. The Red Rook, however, has better luck, cutting the starving beast's head from it's body. With that, I'll let everyone else redo their actions, Readying if needed.
The Wasp and the Lighning Agent, not relying on melee weapons, grab their bow and crossbow, and without even bothering to aim, send a bolt and an arrow right at the other two dogs, one catching it right in it's breast and sinking deep to pierce it's heart, the other slicing into the thick hide of the dog's head, biting deep and dropping it to the ground in a sort of weird, convulsing heap.
Suddenly, from out of the darkness, what seems like a rope shoots from the darkness, aimed at Red Rook. It misses, the strange looking rope going limp and falling to the ground to be left, but it's clearly sticky, like a massive spider web. Unfortunately, from your vantage point, you don't see just where or what it came from. I've added a circle to indicate the basic area on the map.
Ranged: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

ok falchion doesnt have reach. Sorry copy and pasted template lol. I am a stalker and will try and get that reach thing taken care of. How does dual identity work. This character will be more social than co bat so i made this his social name. When he arrives he will be in vigilante form though so do i just introduce him like that.

Union sprints to the door of the tower, ready to slam his blade into whatever lurks inside.
A giant spider! I shall deal with you like any other criminal, though you're slightly better... Your foulness is only your natural instinct!
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
ARRGGHH! Why couldn't that have been an attack roll?!

Moving ahead, Orlesk takes a look inside the tower from a slight distance and keeping his bow at the ready for any movement. "Come out, whoever you are!"
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

![]() |

With the Union's help pointing out the beast, you see a massive spider clinging easily to the ceiling in the small cave area beneath the Fallen Tower.
Spider sensing that food has come a bit closer, it shoots out another strand of web, aimed at the priest closest to it, hitting him square in the chest and causing the sticky goo to explode, forming a sort of fist around Orlesk before it begins to "reel him in". At first, it is mere inches, but it might not be so for much longer. . .
Web vs Orlesk (AC 14): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 <HIT>

Coming up from the rear you see an average size humanoid in all black think nightingale armor from skyrim from the front all you see is a dark grey snout and a falscion drawn and ready to strike foes and behind him you see a dark grey tail.
Double move up.
As he approaches. "Sorry i am late. I ran into some petty thieves on my way here. The name is shadow."
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

As Shadow runs up, The Union's Blade fells the mutated beast in a fell swing. Investigating further into the area, you find it mostly choked with rubble, but a door in the eastern wall is still accessible. The door leads to a stone spiral staircase that runs through the center of the tower. Unfortunately, the stairway is also blocked with fallen rubble, requiring you to return outside and climb if you want to enter the Fallen Fortress.
A small cocoon hangs in the webs, holding the remains of an unfortunate dog that fell into the spider’s clutches. The desiccated carcass is still wearing its leather collar, which is studded with lapis lazuli stones and has a silver tag reading “Dralneen”, something you might need to look into once back in Absalom City.
Making your way to the second floor will require a DC 15 Climb check.

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 2
I love that all of our climbs are crappy and we are vigilantes......hehe
The lightning Agent has a difficult time beginning the climb.
