Based on the context I think it's Resist Energy.

I suggest you clarify who has which of Terendelev's scales as they don't work if you have more than one.

Hadn't considered it in that light. Does that mean we cannot use it to benefit another?Such as Jod casting align weapon on his and two others' as they head into the Grey Garrison? Not sure I was planning to, but it does not seem like a bad idea now...

The definition is unclear, I'd assume that you can cast it where you like assuming the spell allows you to, but you cannot have two scales on your person and activate them. As an aside, note that Align Weapon in 1/min per level.

Their preparations completed, the group head out of Defender's Heart and heading west towards Old Kenabres. The dawn is dark, heavy lowering clouds largely blocking the light of the sun. The wind is biting. The streets are quiet other than for a shutter flapping forlornly against a broken window.

The switchback road that leads up the side of promontory and into the old city that sits upon it is deserted. The first barrier is the gatehouse in the wall, but there they meet a group of crusaders who salute. "We've driven off the cultists here for the moment," says the sergeant leading them, her shield notched by heavy blows. "The heaviest fighting is south of here and they are concentrating their forces there, but they'll be back soon enough. You'd best be on your way. Iomedae bless you."

Old Kenabres is particularly wrecked. At least half the buildings are reduced to piles of rubble and jutting timbers and the stench of smoke and rot is strong. The wind is stronger on the top of the hill, stinging eyes and chilling exposed flesh. Sometimes it carries the sound of fighting with screams, yells and arms clashing. Sometimes it carries it away, leaving the heroes to pick their way as it sighs and moans through the ruins.

They reach their target. The Grey Garrison is a squat building of drab stone. There is one entrance on to the street, which is derserted except for two guards - two obese naked men clutching polearms, their bellies shuddering periodically as if pregnant with some monstrous young.

Knowledge (Local), DC 15 (automatic success if you are a Kenabres native):

Spoiler:
One of the men is Hulrun Shappok, leader and Prelate of Kenabres. The other is Baron Nerosyan, a prominent merchant and the owner of Nerosyan Manor.

Knowledge (The Planes, DC 18):

Spoiler:
The men seem to be hosts for vermlek demons. These horrible worm-like fiends can inhabit a corpse, consuming most of its internal organs in the process. Once they have completed this process they can wear the corpse, although they gain no access to its abilities or memories.

Kira:

Spoiler:
Cold iron or good weapons will do the trick. these creatures have an affinity with negative energy, being healed by it and harmed by positive energy like undead. They can also project negative energy in order to inflict harm.

No one attempted to roll a Stealth check so they know you are there. Please place yourselves on the map. You are approaching from the south. The big piles of rubble are collapsed buildings - they would be quite dangerous to walk through. And if you haven't already, roll initiative.

Jod stands, arms crossed, shaking his head at the shame of such a poor choice. Readying an action to quickdraw the morningstar if V1 or V2 charges and attack if they come into range.

J21; if we had indicated we were going to sneak up on them, it would be different, but we just indicated we were headed this way, so I think Aubrey's assumption is that we stopped when they hailed us.

Wengaug remains near the mage, as directed, but has a cold iron arrow nocked and the bow at a quarter draw while she waits for hostilities to begin. She will be diagonal front and left of Kaygan when he states his position. She is similarly readying an action to fire if either demon charges.

His solid black eyes watch impassively though his tail twitches from side to side like an agitated cat. When Kyra and Kaygan identify the bloated walking demon husks the spines along his crest and back rise.

Hannik shakes her head in disgust, "Ugghh... If we hadn't fallen down the rift, that could have been us. Hulrun was in square when the attack began and I didn't see him, but the Baron must have been too. They have to be killed before whatever is in there hatches."

So I'm going to heavily request that both Booam and Jod charged V1 (as the two things are equidistant from the two men), allowing other people to reach V2 that can't reach V1 this round.

Will save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Mulluq easily ignores the very idea of corrupting him with negative energy, suffering little from the effect. He then follows suit of the other two, charging forward, weapon coming down on the bulbous creature. His heels click off the ruined cobblestones, and with and odd hop to his step, he bounds forward faster than his armor would normally allow. The blade Radiance held firmly in hand, he drives it deep into the hellspawn.

If the suggestion above is taken...
Charge to L16 (fiendish sprinter allows me 10' base speed when charging)

Aubs where we at?

Jod and Booam savagely hack one of the demons to pieces. The corpse shell it inhabited falls to pieces in a shower of gore and the horrible worm within is chopped into shuddering segments, spraying its killers with filth and gore. Sol's arrow bites into the other, and then Mulluq closes with it, Radiance plunging into the walking corpse's swollen belly. The creature screams, mouth open wide. The scream turns into a gurgling roar and with a wet ripping sound its head and torso are shaken apart as the thrashing demon inside begins to tear itself free.
